RomanceCan Men Be More Stupid Than This Ever Again? by DeepZone(op): 8:16pm On Sep 26, 2008
Recently 22 yr old Natalie Dylan(a university graduate) looking for money for graduate school puts up her virginity online for bidding. As of today, the official bid price for her virginity is $221K with some of these men flocking Nevada to witness this historical moment.

My question will be: Can men be any more stupid than this? I still cannot fathom this because no woman on earth will place a $1 bid for a virgin male. It's disgusting. Don't you think that every man on this planet should be subjected to a compulsory psychological help for sexual deviance?

I also feel for the girl because of the yamaris she can get from auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder and am sure Hannibal would've bid if he had the money.

Gambari, others for northern summit

A FORMER Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister and the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General's Special Envoy, Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari and Shaukat Aziz, the first prime minister of Pakistan to complete a full term in office, are billed to attend next month's Northern Economic and Investment Summit (NEIS 2008) on October 6 to 8 at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.

Sponsored by the Conference of Northern States Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCCIMA), comprising all the 19 states and Abuja Chambers of Commerce, the plenary session on the opening day will be presided over by Gambari, who is also a former Nigerian Ambassador to the UN.

President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua will declare the summit open while all former heads of state from the North have accepted to be active participants at the summit.

Notable scholars, economists and jurists have also confirmed their participation at the summit. They include Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Prof. Ibrahim Ayagi, Chairman of National Economic Intelligence Committee (NEIC), Justice Agboola, Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and Dr. Tunji Olagunju, Presidential Adviser on NEPAD and Prof. Pat Utomi, director, Lagos Business School.

The celebrated Zimbabwean farmers in Kwara State are also attending to give their experiences on commercial farming.

CONSCCIMA Chairman, Alhaji Jani Ibrahim, said all hands are on deck to ensure an economic turn-around in the North.

"Something must be done about the economy and we are determined to improve the economy of the North, we want to tackle frontally the problem of poverty", he said.

One major goal of the summit is wealth creation, with less dependence on oil.

"It is insulting to say that the North cannot survive without oil revenue. We have other great alternatives, which we are looking into strongly at the summit", he assured.

According to the CONSCCIMA leader, the summit has received the royal blessing of the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Said Abubakar and other key royal fathers in the North.

"The Sultan is so enthusiastic about the summit and he does not hide that he is with us on this important matter", Ibrahim added.

NSCIA asks Muslims to look out for new moon

By Agency Reporter

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has directed Muslims to look out for the new moon of Shawwal on Sunday

NSCIA Secretary General, Dr. Abdul-Lateef Adegbite, said in a statement on Thursday in Abuja that a report should be made to the appropriate authorities once the moon was sighted.

Adegbite said the directive was in line with the tradition of the holy Prophet Muhammad which made it mandatory for Muslims to begin and end the fast only after sighting the new moon.

“Prophet Muhammad is reported to have instructed the Muslims as follows:`Do not fast unless you see the crescent of Ramadan and do not give up fasting till you see the crescent of Shawwal.’

“But if the sky is overcast, count 30 days of Sha‘aban or Ramadan as the case may be,‘‘ he said.

He said the authorities would verify the information on the sighting of the moon before informing the Sultan who is also NSCIA President General.

“Where the authorities are satisfied that the new moon has been sighted in accordance with the prescribed procedure, the Sultan and President will be informed at once for formal announcement of the termination of the Ramadan fast.

“This will lead to the observance of Eid-el-Fitr prayer the following day, that is Monday, September 29,‘‘ Adegbite said.

He added that in the event of the moon not sighted on Sunday, the Eid-el-Fitr prayer shall be observed on Tuesday, September 30.

He urged individuals with information on the sighting of the moon to contact the Sultan on 08036470422; the Shehu of Borno on 076-236809; Adegbite on 08029678580, and the Emir of Gwandu on 068320502

Armed thugs abduct female magistrate in Warri
Written by Emma Amaize
Friday, September 26, 2008
A GANG of eight armed thugs on Wednesday evening in Warri, Delta State abducted a female magistrate, 31-year-old Mrs. Emuobome J. Bazunu-Sokoh.

Investigations by Vanguard showed that the kidnap of Magistrate Bazunu-Sokoh was allegedly sponsored by a female colleague in the state, who accused her and another friend of dating her husband.

Mrs. Edirin Bazunu, a civil servant and mother of the kidnapped magistrate who confirmed the abduction of her daughter told Vanguard, yesterday, in Warri, “The kidnappers, numbering about eight came to my house at the Delta Development Property Authority (DDPA) Estate, Warri at about 6.30 pm in two vehicles and started breaking the doors, windows and ordered her daughter, who was inside the house to follow them or she would be killed”.

She said they beat the daughter, as they dragged her out of the house and bundled her into their vehicle before she was driven away to an unknown hideout.

Mrs. Bazuna said that she immediately alerted the State Security Service and the Police at Ugborikoko, Delta State and a manhunt was launched for the thugs, who called her daughter’s friend on phone, threatening that they would deal with the magistrate if she did not show up.

Investigations by Vanguard showed that the suspect had earlier invited the magistrate to her father’s house on the pretext that she wanted her to assist her with information on a divorce case involving the husband of her senior sister.

Mrs. Bazunu-Sokoh was said to have innocently visited the family house, not knowing that it was a set up. She was beaten up by thugs on the orders of her host and was only rescued by some good Samaritans.

Not satisfied with her escapades, the suspect allegedly dispatched thugs to her house, who kidnapped her and gave her another round of beating before she was dumped at the B’ Division, Okumagba Layout, Warri where she was rescued by the police.

Mrs. Bazunu said her daughter denied knowing or dating anyone.

She said the said husband who the chief magistrate spuriously claimed her daughter and her friend were dating did not even sound coherent when she called his number to speak with him, suggesting that it was a calculated design by the chief magistrate to ridicle her daughter.

The magistrate who was shocked at the treatment meted on her by a learned colleague was understood to have left for Asaba, Thursday morning to personally report the incident to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jacob Oshiomog.

And this is why I hate the US so very much. The greedy system of taxing citizens. If she was a UK citizen/resident and if in those 5 years that she was to be paid $100,000 per year, she was resident in another country (Non-EU I think for the whole year -bar a number of days; I am unsure exactly how many days), the UK government would not take a penny in tax. On the other hand, the US taxes its citizens to the ground whether or not they are resident in the US (the greedy bastards). That is why the taxman is one of the most hated person in the US. In the UK, people do not feel so bitter against taxmen even though the tax paid here is ultimately higher than the US. Don't get me wrong o, no one likes anybody deducting from their wages (so they don't like being taxed), but people do not generally have an ill/bitter feeling towards tax workers like they are out to get them as they do in the US.
What d hell are you saying? How many US citizens are resident outside the country? It's like making a big deal out of the welfare of Nigerians living outside the country before the ones living within the country. The US can even tax it's citizens living in hell, who cares as long as the tax bracket for those living and working in the US remain the lowest in western nations. Imagine you comparing the US with a welfare state like England.

Why not put a poll and see what people will prefer, reducing the tax bracket for citizens or increasing it by multiple percents while removing it for non residents?

I need not castigate Christians to defend my religion. Bring a thread I've started to paint Christians black.

I have never come across an ethnic/religious chauvinist like you before. The most unfortunate part is that you have a very shallow command of history, yet you parade yourself as an analyst. Critics usually have strong analytical skills and are versed enough to bring convincing facts to butress their criticisms, but you are far from this. I have come across many of your posts and you are always goofing, raping facts and history even a primary school pupil will know.
Keep ranting but just take my name off your list because everything I've said here about the north is the truth. The truth is bitter but am sorry it's not my fault.

South African parliament elects Motlanthe as president

South Africa‘s parliament on Thursday elected Kgalema Motlanthe as the nation‘s third post-apartheid president, after the dramatic ouster of Thabo Mbeki by his own party.

https://odili.net/news/source/2008/sep/26/punch/images/1.jpg
Kgalema Motlanthe

The ruling party‘s second in command won 269 of the 360 votes cast, Chief Justice of the constitutional court, Pius Langa, said.

”I accordingly declare the honourable Kgalema Motlanthe the duly elected president of the republic of South Africa,” he told the house, which erupted in cheers and applause.

Motlanthe will guide the country toward elections next year while aiming to bridge the gaping divide within the ruling African National Congress as the nation comes to grips with its worst political crisis since the end of apartheid in 1994.

Motlanthe, known as a level-headed presence in the ANC, was sworn- in later in the afternoon, Reuters said.

He will have to build bridges between the supporters of the fallen Mbeki and the ANC president, Jacob Zuma, whose bitter political wrangling led to the resignation of Mbeki last weekend.

Motlanthe attended Mbeki‘s last cabinet meeting Wednesday, trying to send a message of continuity within the government after a third of the country‘s top leaders, including the country‘s deputy president, resigned in solidarity.

While it is expected that seven will stay on in the new administration, several others have said they are not willing.

Zuma, who in December 2007, replaced Mbeki as ANC leader, has downplayed concerns that the political turmoil has plunged the country into crisis.

”There is no problem, the situation is under control, there must be no panic,” he said on e-tv news Wednesday.

As party leader, Zuma is widely expected to be voted into the country‘s top office in the elections next year.

Mbeki bowed to a call to resign from the presidency following a damning court ruling that hinted he was instrumental in a decision made to prosecute his longtime rival, Zuma, whom he fired as the country‘s deputy president in 2005.

He has denied the allegations and is appealing that aspect of the ruling in a bid to clear his name from the insinuation of judicial meddling.

In a farewell letter to his cabinet published on Thursday in The Star newspaper, Mbeki said he had accepted the ANC‘s decision in the interest of South Africa and without ”resistance or rancour.”

The sudden end to Mbeki‘s nine-year administration leaves an embarrassing stain on the legacy of the man who succeeded anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela.

The political turmoil has rattled the economy, with currency markets shaken by the decision of the widely-respected finance minister, Trevor Manuel, to resign with the other top officials.

Manuel‘s spokesman later made it clear that he was ready to serve the new administration.

Zuma said the decision to recall Mbeki had been ”one of the most painful and difficult decisions” taken in the party‘s history.
