EFCC should stop producing results for different zones. It doesn't help National Unity at all.
How can you blame the EFCC when there are lots stereotypes going on from one section to another? It's better to clarify these issues, not that it'll go a long way in changing much. Do you remember Axis calling the Yorubas the most corrupt in Nigeria? Do you think he was just saying it for argument sake? He said it because that's what he hears people from the north saying on a regular basis. Why didn't you advise him that time to stop?

My son lost Olympics gold to racism, says Chukwumerije
From Alifa Daniel, Asst. Political Editor, Abuja

THE Beijing Olympics may have ended, but in Nigeria, a senator, who spent his funds to send his son on a six-month training across the world, Uche Chukwumerije, has fired a protest to the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) over the manner the boy was allegedly short-changed out of contention for a gold or silver medal in the sports. Chika, Senator Uche Chukwumerije's son, won a bronze medal.

See pictures and watch VIDEO of controversial Taekwondo fight between Chika Yagazie CHUKWUMERIJE and Alexandros NIKOLAIDIS of Greece.

The senator in a letter to the President which he read to journalists in his office at the National Assembly, explained that beyond protesting the injustice done to his son, his action would alert the administrators of taekwondo and the Olympics of the imminent danger posed to the sport by poor officiating.

Alluding to a racial tendency on the part of the administrators, the senator said that his protest was intended to ensure that the presence of African athletes in future competitions will be treated with more respect. "Sports should be blind," he added.

He prayed the WTF president to replay the tape of this fight in any international sports channel and give the large international jury of Masters of Taekwondo an opportunity to appraise the fight and make their judgment, adding that such a jury with its experience and professionalism is more likely to deliver a merit and rule-driven verdict.

"I am compelled by the insensitivity which the dead ends of WTF official channels have offered to plead for justice and my fears about the deleterious effect of such deadness on the future of our Taekwondo sport to make this protest to you.

"The object of this petition is the poor officiating in the (Men's Over 80kg) quarter-final tournament between Nigeria (Chika Chukwumerije) and Greece (Alexandro Nicholaidias) on August 23 in 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing (Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium). The officiating was so flawed that the victor was robbed of victory, and the defeated awarded an unmerited victory.

"My locus standi: What, you may ask, is my rightful interest in this matter? I am a member of the Taekwondo family - a senior black belt, a promoter of taekwondo in Nigeria and the father of the short-changed player in this disputed contest, Chika Chukwumerije.

On the grounds for his protest, Chukwumerije noted the overlook of a punishable violation of contest rules by Alexandro of Greece. His words: "In the second round of the contest, Alexandro held Chika by his chest protector and attempted an ass kick on the head, apparently in a desperate bid to wipe off Chika's two-point lead. Holding an opponent while kicking is a punishable offence by Taekwondo rules. The referees overlooked the infraction. No point was deducted from Alexandro."

He urged the WTF president to watch the tape of the fight and judge for himself.

Other grounds he gave were: "The attempted ass kick by Alexandro totally missed Chika who successfully ducked. But the referees inexplicably awarded two marks to Alexandro and he levelled up with Chika's two-point lead.

* Denial of Chika's score - Almost immediately after this 2-2 score, Chika made a clear kick to Alexandro's chest. Inexplicably, the referees denied him the score.

* "Second unmerited award to Alexandro - Three seconds to the end of the round, the referees inexplicably gave one point to Alexandro, bringing the score to 3-2 in his favour. No kick, no punch to justify this score.

* "Deaf ears to our Constitutional Right to Hearing of our Appeal for a Review - In accordance with the rules, Chika's coach and the Nigerian Taekwondo leadership filed a protest to the Taekwondo supervisory board against the poor officiating. To underline the seriousness of Nigeria's concern for the stultifying effect of this level of refereeing on the future of Taekwondo, the top management of Nigeria's Olympic Sports Organisation (comprising Habu Gumel, Chairman of Nigeria Olympics Committee; Banji Oladapo, Secretary-General of the Committee, Alhaji Bappa, the Assistant Secretary-General, Patrick Ekeji, the Director-General of Sports Development in Nigeria, Nathaniel Nnaji, Chairman, Nigeria Taekwondo Association and my humble self) met the Chairman of Africa Taekwondo Union, General Fouli of Egypt, and re-emphasised our protest.

"We were told that the protest would be considered and a review was under way. The next shock, which hit us was a display on the television screen announcing a tournament for a third position and listing Chika Chukwumerije as a contestant. This meant that our protest received merely a nominal nod, but was never treated, unlike the protest by Britain in an earlier bout."

He further urged the WTF president to review the tapes and come to his own conclusion.

Chukwumerije went on: "From this account, the following observations are noteworthy: First, by fair officiating, this tournament should have ended 3-0 in favour of Chika Chukwumerije. The calculation is thus:- the three points given to Alexandro were unmerited gifts and therefore a nullity. On the other hand, Chika's three (3) points -- that is, the two (2) points acknowledged by the referees and the one (1) point denied by referees -- were clearly earned.

Secondly, the capricious behaviour of the judges was reflected in an unprecedented number of stoppages of the fight for consultations among the referees in the bout. As can be seen in the tape, "on three occasions, the referees stopped the fight and consulted among themselves, thereby giving a strong impression that they were unsure of their readings of the contest. Please compare the stoppages in this fight with referee interventions in all the other taekwondo fights in this Olympic Games."

Chukwumerije noted that Nigeria was bound to be demoralised, stressing that her only protection and assurance in the sport was the hope that taekwondo convention offers a level playing ground in competitions.

"This hope has now been severely undermined," the senator lamented, adding that "the international image of taekwondo may be soiled and its standing in the comity of world sports lowered by a growing impression of subjective and unpredictable commitment of our referees to the rules of the game.

He also averred that "the insensitivity of the Taekwondo Supervisory Board to genuine protests against provable acts of poor officiating in accordance with the rules encourages anti-compliance behaviour among practitioners. Compare the responses of the Supervisory Board to two protests -- Britain's and Nigeria's.

In an earlier bout (Women's Under 57kg Quarter Finals), the British coach angrily shot up from his seat like thunder bolt and protested in a loud voice against a case of poor officiating. He aggressively followed up after the contest with a strong protest to the board. The supervisory board reviewed the case, played back the tape in full view of the audience, and reversed the verdict of the judges.

In Nigeria's case, the Nigerian coach quietly waited like a law-abiding practitioner till the end of the bout to make his protest. Nigeria avoided violence of fist or body language. The supervisory board ignored our appeal and the review of the disputed contest did not take place. We gathered from the grapevine that the supervisory council was afraid that a second reversal of an unjustified verdict would be one too many and could deal embarrassing damage to the image of World Taekwondo Federation."

From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi, 08.26.2008
Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has declared north east geo-political zone  as the zone with the highest rate of corruption complaints  on its desk.

Head of North-east zonal operation,  Mr.  Segun Sogunle, made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in Bauchi on campaign awareness rally sponsored by the United Nation Population Fund (UNPF) through the Anti Corruption Association of Nigeria,  Bauchi state chapter.

Sogunle explained that in the North-east geo-political zone,  Bauchi had the highest number of corruption  cases, adding that   those involved  included serving commissioners and former commissioners of both the previous administration and the government of the day.

He said, the aim of the rally was to educate and sensitize people on the menace of corruption in Nigeria, noting that corruption is worse  than armed robbery

According him, when the people are aware of the evil practices of corruption and the danger it is causing to Nigeria and the role each person would play towards eradicating corruption , then the menace would reduce drastically.

The president, Anti Corruption Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Saleh Garba, stated that war against corruption is a collective responsibility for all responsible Nigerian,  saying the task is not for the government alone to accomplish.

He said, the objective behind the rally was to empower the people to realise their potentials that at their level they can fight  corruption in Nigeria.

According to him, the association is funded by  the UNPF  in Nigeria, adding  that sensitization workshop for various categories  of political office holders and public servants has been scheduled with the sole aim of wiping corruption out in Nigeria

“The ‘Top’ is the male in the relationship. He is the ‘King’ while the ‘Bottom’ is the female or the ‘Queen.’ The Tops are scarce, unlike ‘Bottoms’ that are uncountable and less valued in the booming gay market. If you are a ‘Top’, you get better patronage and you are more valued. That is where the big bucks come from. If you are a queen, chances are that you are looking for love, affection or something like that. You have to spend a lot of money to get a ‘Top’ that wants you.”
Roflmao; men are scarce and even the male homosexuals feel the scarcity in the dominant gay men. What d? The "queens" pay them to get some loving?

A lawyer, who confessed that he patronised male university students, and who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said he became a homosexual during his days as a boarding house pupil.

He said he was introduced into the act by a school mate. “It was very rampant then and I found out that many of my mates were also involved. Though I got married after my university education, I still engage in it now because old habits die hard. I must tell you that it is a terrible habit though because I find it difficult to enjoy sex with my wife. These days, I find male partners among people of my calibre, especially some of my friends that were in the same secondary school with me.
May God protect this woman from orishirishi STD's.

Gay culture gains ground on varsity campuses
Posted To The Web: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 - By Sunday Ojeme, Kemi Obasola and Abimbola Adelakun

A new ‘business’ appears to be taking roots among male students in many universities across the country. Investigations by our correspondents show that a number of male students have now joined their female counterparts to engage in prostitution to get more money. However, while many of the female undergraduates involved make their money from dating rich men, more male students appear to be getting involved in same-sex relationship.

And unlike their female counterparts, the male undergraduates, it was gathered, make more money and get more patronage for obvious reasons. Societal values and legislations work against same-sex relationships. Hence, the number of men involved in sodomy is still low when compared with women engaged in the agelong profession of prostitution.

Investigatioms revealed that the young men make an average of N50,000 from one outing and may get more money when they travel out of their base to meet their partners who usually belong to the affluent group in the society.

Besides, the amount of money a gay male makes depends on whether he acts as the “Top’’ or “bottom’’ in the relationship.

A student in one of the universities in the South-East, who pleaded anomymity, told one of our correspondents that apart from servicing the rich outside the campus, the male undergraduates also encouraged fellow students to engage in the act. Thus, it becomes a case of someone experienced trying to recruit the innocent. “Sometimes, a student can offer to pay as much as N20,000 to another student once he is desperate to have an affair,’’ our source said.

On one occasion, he said, a male student once offerred to pay another student N20,000 for an homosexual round. “The student that was offerred the money put his phone on speaker and we were all hearing as the other gay was desperately pleading to even pay in advance,’’ he added.

In a chat with one of our correspondents who pretended to be a researcher last week, another student in one of the federal universities in the South-West, who confessed to be involved in the practice under condition of anonymity, said, “Most of the successful men we see and hear of in Nigeria today are gays. The promiscuity rate is even higher than that of male and female sexual relationship. So, you tend to get more patronage as a gay prostitute. If you get a call now to meet so and so in Abuja or even Dubai on an all-expense-paid trip, won’t you be tempted? Sometimes you get as much as N50,000 or N100,000 depending on how big the man is.”

According to him, there are caucuses of gays who meet regularly at parties, clubs and such other places. Such networking helps any gay male student who is interested in getting to meet clients.

Our correspondents learnt that a number of ‘gay friendly’ clubs had sprang up in some parts of Ikeja and Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Analysing the activities of the group further, a 200-level student who claimed to be ‘gay and proud’ said, “It really helps to be ‘Top’ in a gay relationship.” According to him, “The ‘Top’ is the male in the relationship.

While he agreed that some men are ‘wired’ to act as gays, he also confessed that some do it for money and the connections they get to make for their future. For that category of people, he said it might just be a passing phase, something they are doing in school to make money.

“They are in it purely for the money and they usually go ‘top.’ But he insisted that money was not the only reason why some men become gays. You go to exotic parties, catch a lot of fun and the life is dramatic,’’ he said.

He said while on holidays in London, he discovered that it was even very profitable abroad.

“You can make as much as £100 per hour or even more. So, you get to travel abroad to do the runs,” he added.

However, while most gays claimed “it is fun,’’ some tend to be more careful in their choice of partners, because according to them, there is the HIV/AIDS scare which could be very dangerous since they get into a lot of frequent unprotected sex.

“Some of these guys are very promiscuous. The ‘Top’ especially get more sexual requests than Bottoms and if one is not careful, one will get over-used. You can’t take all the orders that will be advanced to you. I have been reckless before, but now I am very careful. One has to think of one’s future especially someone like me that desires to get married and have children,” one of them said.

Despite the reported health implications of the act, financial inducement seems to be a strong factor for participation by those who engage in campus homosexuality. While some people confessed to have found themselves in it as a result of peer pressure, others simply believe that they have been wired naturally to dislike the opposite sex.

“It is also easier to find willing partners in Abuja, anytime I go there for meetings, I find a new partner. We have different ways of knowing one another; anybody who is not involved in homosexuality can never find out. I hate embarrassment so I do not try to introduce fellow men to it; I only get involved with those that I know are already involved. I have made a lot of contacts through it and it has opened doors for me.”

He said he was aware that a lot of his partners who wanted fresh blood also recruit partners from universities across the country.

“Unlike those in the developed countries who say they are involved in it because they were created that way, many boys in our universities are being enticed with monetary gifts and those who are fortunate to meet wealthy partners have become ‘big boys’ overnight. I pray that my son grows up as normal boys do and I will do all I can so that they do not toe this same line of homosexuality. It is not something that I am proud of no matter how nice some people make it seem,” he said.

Yet, unlike the female prostitutes, investigations revealed that the male students also employed the services of pimps to secure the services of wealthy men.

In addition, there are caucuses of gays who meet regularly at parties, clubs and through online social networks. Such networking helps any gay who is interested in getting to meet clients.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government, in 2006, proposed a bill that would make homosexuality an offence capable of attracting a minimum of five-year jail term for any offender.

Proposing the bill, a former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), had said it would provide outright prohibition of two men entering into what they wrongly perceive as marriage or two women entering into what they wrongly perceive as marriage.

Commenting on the involvement of more male students in homosexuality, a public analyst, Mr. Sonnie Ekwowusi said, “Gay liberalists in the world are fighting hard to change the natural way normal people look at things. They want marriage to be defined as a union of any two, not a union of a man and a woman. Whenever a gay marriage takes place anywhere gay people ensure that it is given wide publicity in the media.

“But banning of “same-sex marriage” is not enough. The government must review the topics in our secondary school curricula. In many public secondary schools today, the authorities are teaching them immoral topics like homosexuality; giving and receiving pleasure, the use contraceptives; safe-sex with condom; masturbation, etc under the guise of Integrated Science.”

Why Igbo nurses? Are they the only kind of nurses with the "big mouths". "pompous and disrespectful"?

Point is the excuses brought forth are all terrible.
Zing!!!!;There is no telling on where this thread is heading to. Why ibo nurses? Are there no Yoruba,Ibibio,Efik etc families that have gone through the same lately? Is it only ibos that are on the list up there? Why not change the thread title to "Ibo nurses beware of your men" instead chipping ibo here and there in disguise? So just because someone compiled an email with 7 selected stories(i received this story in my email), you decide to conclude in your limited mind that it's only ibo women that are prone to that? No wonder you guys are only interested in the heinous crime itself just to propagate ethnic hatred. You've made that sly comment before in this thread and someone gave you a square answer, still you are more interested in pushing your ethnic bigotry vociferously. Just get ready to take a deep cover when ibo people start to throw similar tantrums at you. I am not part of this and any ibo person that will make a collective judgment on Yorubas on this board because one sleazy undercover tribalist threw a rock on their window may see my red faces. The dearth of common sense on this board is beginning to make me worried.

Let me give you a cracker, if your theory is correct, does that mean that the aforementioned women are the only victim of heinous murder among Nigerians living in the diaspora? You better take your skewed mind to the cleaners because most people here except a few of course are not in high school like you and your cronies. Next time, if you want to accuse people of something, try and come forthwith with a better idea instead of this your dumb circumlocution. Shoot; What's my own sef?, It's not my ox that is being gored.

A broken window that appears to be on the sixth floor of the Cherry Creek Hotel in Glendale. It is not confirmed that this is the window that the suspect jumped from.

AURORA — The US. Attorney for Colorado said authorities are "absolutely confident" three men arrested on weapons and drug charges posed no threat to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Aurora Police held a news conference Monday to announce the arrests and said that during their investigation officers seized a bullet-proof vest, two rifles — one of which was stolen; another had a hunting scope — plus ammunition, drugs and walkie-talkies.

"We're aware of the matter discussed tonight by the Aurora Police Department," said Colorado US. Attorney Troy Eid in a statement late Monday night. "Federal law enforcement is working hand-in-glove with the Aurora Police Department. Because this matter is currently under investigation, there is little we can say right now.

"We can say this: We're absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention, or the people of Colorado."

Earlier Monday, CBS4 News reported that at least three people had been arrested in connection with a possible plot to kill Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High.

Aurora police had arrested a suspected drunken driver at 1:30 a.m. Sunday during a routine traffic stop. The man was seen "weaving," sources said.

Aurora police seized weapons and drugs, which included methamphetamine, from the suspect's rental pickup.

Detective Marcus Dudley, a police spokesman, told reporters gathered in a parking lot behind the police station Monday that he could not discuss the "federal implications" of the case. However, he did confirm that federal authorities were involved in arresting two of the men.

"Clearly, we feel there are federal implications. Beyond that I can't elaborate," he said.

He said the US. Attorney for Colorado will hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

CBS4 had reported one of the suspects told authorities that they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a , rifle … sighted at 750 yards."

Law-enforcement sources told CBS4 that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."

A second source told CBS4 News that they are concerned they may have come upon a possible "assasination plot."

Dudley identified the three suspects as:

* Tharin Robert Gartrell, 28, who was carrying a Colorado identification card that listed a Centennial address. Gartrell was erratically driving a rented 2008 blue Dodge Ram truck that was not registered in his name. The guns, ammo, drugs and other equipment were found in the truck.

* Nathan Johnson, 32. About three hours after Gartrell's arrest, police from Aurora, Denver and Greenwood Village, and federal agents arrested Johnson at a hotel near Interstate 25 and Belleview Avenue. He is being held on drug charges in Denver. His bond amount was not available.

* Shawn Robert Adolf, 33. Police and federal agents arrested Adolf at the Cherry Creek Hotel at 600 South Colorado Boulevard in Glendale around 5 a.m. Sunday after he jumped from a sixth-floor window. Adolf was injured when he fell four stories onto the second-floor roof of the hotel kitchen. He then jumped again onto the ground around the hotel, where police caught him a short time later. Johnson was hospitalized with unspecified injuries from his fall. He is being held on 7 outstanding warrants with bonds totaling $1 million.

The Secret Service, ATF, FBI and US. Attorney's Office are investigating.

A guest at my birthday party offered me juju to help me succeed as a pastor –Rev. Gabriel Adebayo

By ’Nonye Iwuagwu

Rev. Gabriel Adebayo would not forget the day a guest at his birthday party offered him charms to help him succeed as a pastor.

https://odili.net/news/source/2008/aug/23/punch/images/10.jpg
Rev. Gabriel Adebayo

Adebayo, who is currently the presiding pastor of Yaba Baptist Church and the moderator of Gideon II Baptist Association, shared his experience with Saturday Punch shortly after presenting his address at the second quarter meeting of his Association in Lagos.

He said, “There was a year I was celebrating my birthday as a pastor in Ogbomosho. I was not married then. One of the guests, who obviously was excited, walked up to me showering blessings on me. Surpringly, he called me aside and told me that as a young pastor, he wanted to introduce me to the ways of some elderly pastors whom he said depended on some powers. He said he would give me some charms to protect me and help me succeed.”

Adebayo said he was shocked by the strange gesture, which he quickly turned down and told the man that he would rather depend on the powers of Jesus Christ. But the guest insisted.

“He said he wanted to compensate me for feeding him; that he wanted to give me some juju that I could use for protection and to draw people to my church. He said as a very young man, I had not known the world.”

Of course, the guest left in disappointment. But the story raises a question: could it be that some pastors use juju? To that, Adebayo said, “Let me tell you something; some pastors do it because they want to call attention to themselves. Some of the pastors you see these days, instead of ascribing power to God, they ascribe it to themselves. And they can do just anything to become popular. That is why some of them fall into temptations. Promotion doesn’t come from west or east but from God. That is my personal belief.”

Told that he could have been able to resist temptation because he belonged to an organised church with a good welfare package, he retorted, “I’ve gone through thick and thin. I’ve lived in poverty, not because I’m not well read but because I wanted to serve God in the North.”

According to him, he had his most trying moment in the North but that never made him succumb to temptations.

“The most difficult time I faced was when I was in the North, in Potiskum, Yobe State between 1994 and 1997. In 1994, I moved all my property together with my wife to Potiskum just because I wanted to serve God. The same year I got there, on September 4, 1994, Muslim rioters came to our church and destroyed everything that we had. They burnt it down, and I was left with only one garment.

“While some pastors in my category there were earning N2,600, I was earning N200 per month. And in the night, because I did not want church members to know what I was going through, I was doing Okada business. They call it achaba in the North. That way, I was making ends meet instead of begging. And my wife, also a graduate, was also packaging water, they called it kankara in the north, and selling to pupils.”

Little wonder Pastor Adebayo decried with pain the situation today where, according to him, the church was conforming to worldly practices.

“The issue of christians conforming to the world is taking a frightening dimension, ranging from indecent dressing to membership of secret cults.

“Now, coming to the issue of mode dressing, what we are doing right now is to teach our children and parents that charity begins at home. Do not just expect a pastor or lecturers to train your children; begin from home.”

The war against vices, especially Christians belonging to cults, he said, was being fought with all vigour and had led impenitent cultists to leave the church.

Yar’Adua, Obasanjo not on speaking terms – Investigation

By Musikilu Mojeed

There were strong indications on Sunday that the relationship between President Umaru Yar’Adua and his predecessor, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, may no longer be cordial. The two men are no longer on speaking terms.

Reliable sources close to the two leaders disclosed to our correspondent that Yar’Adua and Obasanjo were bickering seriously and had not spoken to each other in the last couple of months.

A former aide of the ex-presidents who informed our correspondent of the development, said Obasanjo decided to stay away from the President after he began to experience “consistent difficulty” in getting unhindered access to him.

The source, a presidential aide during the last administration, quoted the former President as having told him that he (Obasanjo) was now keeping Yar’Adua at arm’s length.

The source said, “I went to visit Baba (the former president) at his Ota farm house that day to solicit his assistance to help talk to President Yar’Adua to get me a job. Since Baba left office, some of us who were his former aides and worked hard for Yar’Adua’s election are yet to be appointed to positions in government.

“So, I went to Ota to plead with Baba to help us talk to the President to consider us. But Baba’s response to my request shocked me. He said I should leave him out of anything that has to do with Yar’Adua. He said the relationship between him and the President was over and that he was not even on speaking terms with the President.

“When I asked him the reason for the stand-off with a man he helped install as president, Baba said he was not in the mood to talk about the wrongs that Yar’Adua had done to him. I left Ota in disappointment.”

Another source, who is Obasanjo’s close political associate, also confirmed that the cosy relationship between Yar’Adua and his predecessor had fizzled out.

He said, “Some of us are aware that all is not well between Baba and the President and we have been trying to see what can be done to reconcile them.

“As you know, I am close to the two of them and I will do my best to bring them together again. What is happening between them is unfortunate and is definitely not in the interest of our party.”

Presidency sources also confirmed the simmering hostility between the President and Obasanjo.

The sources said Yar’Adua hardly responded to the former President’s calls until Obasanjo allegedly stopped calling him altogether.

An Aso Rock source said the President had to call Obasanjo’s bluff after it became clear in the early days of the administration that the ex-President was bent on controlling him.

The source added that Yar’Adua did not see Obasanjo as his political godfather.

The source added, “When we first came in, Obasanjo was always pestering the President, telling him what to and what not to do. It became clear that he wanted to continue to rule from the backdoor.

“Of course, that did not go down well with Turai (Yar’Adua’s wife) and some forces within the administration who moved quickly to checkmate Obasanjo and whittle down his influence in the Presidential Villa.”

One of the fallouts of the disagreement between the two men, our sources said, was last Monday’s scrap of the Chief of Staff post in The Presidency and the sack of the acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Gbolade Osinowo, and the other staff in his office.

Osinowo and his colleagues were presidential aides who served Obasanjo and were retained by Yar’Adua.

Our source said they were sacked because they were regarded as moles in the Presidential Villa who had been feeding Obasanjo with information on “classified developments” in The Presidency.

Investigations also indicated that the former president had of recent been boycotting many party functions in anger.

Obasanjo reportedly stayed away from the meetings of the national caucus and the national executive committee meetings, of the Peoples Democratic Party, the two powerful party organs to which he and Yar’Adua are leading members.

An associate of the former President quoted Obasanjo as having complained bitterly that he felt betrayed with the way the Yar’Adua administration was reversing the policies introduced by his (Obasanjo’s) regime.

He was also said to have expressed disappointment that the President failed to halt both the ongoing probe of his administration by some committees in the National Assembly and the plot to amend the PDP’s constitution as a way of dethroning him as the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees.

Also said to have angered Obasanjo was the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s recent incarceration of his daughter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, and some of his close associates for corruption. It was learnt that Obasanjo was shocked that Yar’Adua did not intervene in the matter.

According to a source, Obasanjo feels that the probe and the incarceration of his associates are meant to rubbish all that he did for the country during his eight-year reign.

But the national leadership of the PDP said it was not aware that Yar’Adua and his predecessor were bickering.

The National Legal Adviser of the party, Chief Olusola Oke, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, said though there had been speculations that the two leaders were quarrelling; there had been no concrete evidence to support the insinuations.

He said some people had pointed at Obasanjo’s conspicuous absence from the two party functions (the meetings of the PDP national caucus and the NEC) as an indication that he was no longer at ease with the President and the party.

Oke said, “But even that is not enough evidence to say that all is not well between our two leaders. Though former President Obasanjo was not at those meetings, he sent apologies.

“There is nothing from our end to suggest that anything is amiss between the President and his predecessor. As far as we are concerned, there is no way the two leaders won’t talk.

“People should remember that Baba is a very close friend of the President’s late brother and there is no doubt that the President will continue to regard former President Obasanjo the way he did to his brother.”

An official of the party, who did not want to be named, however, confirmed the development, saying the party was finding a way to reconcile the two men.

Both Obasanjo and Yar‘Adua could not be reached for comments on Sunday. Several calls made to the former President indicated that his mobile phone was switched off.

The calls made to the mobile phone of Yar‘Adua‘s Special Adviser on Communications, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, were not picked.

RomanceRe: On Emotions by DeepZone(op): 7:40pm On Aug 25, 2008
Thinks for a while. . .

Well, I believe the only time you can manipulate your emotions that easily is before you have entered into the relationship in the first place, when it is still in the 'we could be' phase.

I believe in the scenario you gave, you mentioned that the guy was a loser (do you mean personality or financially). I'm slightly confused because I would never be able to 'fall' for a loser (personality).

My overall conclusion is that yes, it is possible to suppress your emotions, this is infatuation, and though the initial pain for me, will be much higher and sharper than that from love, it will die down a lot quicker than love too. It is possible to suppress my emotions because from the description, I have not had the chance to become emotionally involved with the person. There would have to be more than just a one-sided connection from me, for me to through my logic into the wind and jet off with a 'loser'.
it depends, most times you find out about losers through friends that know them or by yourself which takes a little bit of time. There are people you meet and get attracted to them even from afar especially when they open their mouth and talk some sense.

Losers vary in characteristics, he may be rich and educated but very abusive or a drug addict.

I wonder when the word 'rebound' is going to enter this topic??

What are peoples' views on rebound relationships?
- Especially used in a way to help the person who's heart has been broken to heal quicker.
- To make the person who broke up with you jealous.
Speak no more!!! Guys are experts in this field and they are usually ready to rebound as many times as possible. It's recently that women use it as a tool for vengeance but it's more risky for them because you'll be exposed to the guy, body, kiss and pussy. grin grin grin grin

So, I would like to personnaly advise this person to not to take any position in the marketing division or testing division. But he can work in the Accounting Division, IT Division, of the company, in as much as he is not required to test the product or advertise the product to other people. Anyway, he should try and look for a more rewarding Job while he is working there. God Knows Better. Wish you all the Best!
@Auwal87,

So you can work in a brothel as long as you work in the IT division or accounting section? What is the difference between what you are saying now and what Pontius Pilate did during the crucifixion of Jesus?

me i would prefer to settle down with a man who earns higher than me.
if i have a job that pays more, i will either have to get part time or quit. i want him to take the lead. part time or full time to support your pay. not full time to carry the household on my head while your butter your ego.
Leadership is from the mind and not the material possession that gears it always. That's why you see some people that are not wealthy leading a club, sorority or fraternity because of their charisma, will power or overt intelligence. I do not support you to relinquish your job because the man in your life will be insecure, rather, hold the job, make the cash and control it instead of the cash controlling you. Very many rich people today are slaves to their wealth and it's a pity that the money you made is steering you around. You can be rich and still respect and honor your husband but you can only achieve that if and only if you believe that your wealth is secondary to your relationship.

Think of this: If most men have been this anal from the get go because they held more jobs and money before the advent of women getting a career and money, how would the world be before now? Are you spending your money or is your money spending you?
Nairaland GeneralRe: Nigerian Nurses Beware? by DeepZone: 6:58pm On Aug 25, 2008
The case of a 'crime of passion' can be understandable, but still not acceptable.

Nurses should beware - do not get married to a controlling man who will kill ou if he feels a need to re-assert his masculinity.
The problem here is discernment. How can you tell that your spouse is murderous? some murderers have no history of violence or common abuse, they are seldom angry, always quiet but beyond that facade, there's a giant monster that remains to be activated by one single act of betrayal.
In as much as i wouldn't excuse murder, i strongly advise men and women to stop using their spouses to climb the ladder(for that sake only). There is a huge difference between leaving someone because he/she ought to be left and having a master plan from the get go on how to use and dump someone. It's a cold hard world!

LG chairman allegedly orders caning of 65-year-old man

By Sesan Olufowobi

Seeing the wounds that covered him from head to toe, one could easily conclude that Mr Yomi Oduneye was involved in an accident. The truth, however, is that the 65-year-old man was a victim of assault.

https://odili.net/news/source/2008/aug/23/punch/images/20.jpg
Mr Yomi Oduneye

Workers and visitors to the headquarters of Ijebu Ode Local Government at Itoro, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State were treated to an amazing spectacle penultimate Thursday when some hefty men suspected to be members of the dreaded Obanta Vigilante Group (OBG) in the town pinned the aged man to the floor and gave him the beating of his life.

Oduneye, an estate agent popularly called Yakman, believes his tormentors were acolytes of the chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Mr Mufu Giwa Oseni, with whom he had a long-term disagreement. The chairman is believed to have instructed thugs to beat Oduneye up after he (Oduneye) brushed the chairman with the side mirror of his car. However, the local government chairman, who spoke to Saturday Punch on Thursday, insists he had no hands in the fate that befell the estate agent.

Narrating his ordeal to Saturday Punch during the week, Oduneye said he had no contact whatsoever with the chairman on the said day. “He had no reason to assault me. I had no close contact with him on that day, but I learnt he claimed that I hit his hand with the side mirror of my car and called him a chief thug instead of apologising to him.”

Recalling the events of that day, Oduneye said he had gone to the Customary Court in the area and was on his way back home when he saw Oseni. “I saw him walking around the library of the secretariat and I went the other way. That was all. About 30 minutes after I got home, seven men came to my house, four of them carrying guns. They told me that the chairman wanted to see me. I asked them why they brought guns to my house. One of them shouted at me and threatened to bundle me into their vehicle if I would not cooperate with them. I was frightened and asked if they were going to kill me. They said nothing, and the man that led them pointed to the door, so I followed them.

“Immediately I got out of the house, I saw that there were more of them in the house. In fact, they were more than 30. They came in three vehicles. But as we were going, two of my employees followed us.

“When we got to the local government’s secretariat, I saw the chairman who immediately struck me with a stick. His boys joined in the spree. They lay me on the floor, held my hands and started beating me.”

But in a swift reaction, Oseni said he knew nothing about the beating that Yakman got. He said, “In fact, I was in my office when I heard the commotion. I came out to see what was going on and discovered that Oduneye had been beaten. I quickly called the Divisional Police Officer to come to the council and restore nomalcy.

“Let me tell you, I am a practising Muslim and I swear by the holy Qur’an that his account is false. If it is true that I did all this things, let all the bad things in the Qur’an be mine.

“We had a voluntary HIV/ AIDS test programme on that day. I mobilised the staff of the local government to go to our other office to do the test. We were there for about two hours. We were all coming back when the man tried to kill me with his car. I was walking on the roadside. I think he saw me and directed his Volvo at me. I quickly dodged, but the side mirror hit my hand. I pretended that it was all a joke, because I knew the implication of trying to challenge him in the presence of the crowd I had with me. Yakman moved on. But when he got to a distance, he stopped and started shouting, ‘Chairman, thug! Chairman, thug!’ Some of the people who were with me ran towards him, but he zoomed of, and I thought that was the end of the matter.

But I felt disturbed, so I called some people on the telephone and reported him to them. Although we had no dealing in the past, Ijebu Ode is a small town. Everybody knows one another. I have been seeing him here at the secretariat, because he is always at the Customary Court.

“I got to the office still feeling disturbed. I knew that what he did was intentional because I had been told that he had threatened to kill me. He wanted a street named after him in Ijebu Ode, so he decided to rename Ononoiki Street after himself.

“The matter was reported to me on a day we had our executive meeting. I investigated and discovered that nobody in the council knew anything about the change. Nobody gave him approval. It was then that I decided that the old name should remain. He got angry and reported me to people. His lawyers wrote to me with a so-called prove that he met the requirements. But in actual fact, he got himself into another trouble, because we are investigating him for forgery and fraud.”

He showed our correspondent a document that Oduneye allegedly forwarded to the local government. It showed that whereas the council wrote to Oduneye on June 2, 2008 to pay a mandatory N10,000 if he wanted the street renamed after him, the receipt for payment did not have the logo of the local government and the sum of N20,000 was paid on May 23, ten days to the issuance of the letter.

“That was my offence,” Oseni continued. “He issued threats, but I did not take them seriously because they were verbal. And he took no action until that day. If he could do that in the midst of people, I wonder what he would do if I had been alone. He would have run over me. By the 27th of this month, I would have been eight months in office. I will then have two years and four months to go. I want to live after my tenure. I don’t want to die because somebody wanted a street named after him.”

Was that why he hired thugs to teach Oduneye a lesson?

“That is not true. I did nothing. I just went into my office. He is not telling the truth. I did not even know that the crowd caught up with him. I did not send anybody after him,” Oseni said.

But Oduneye insisted that the Chairman was the one who initiated his ordeal. “He was the first to beat me. I don’t have any dealing with him, so how could I have threatened him? I did not pass his way that day; how could I have hit him. When did I call him a thug? They beat me so badly that I defecated in my trousers. They took the money I had on me, stole my gold chain and pendant and used the police to harass me. The DPO arrested me and took me to the station. It was when he saw that I was really in a bad shape that he allowed me to go and treat myself in the hospital.”

The chairman told our correspondent on Thursday that moves were being made to settle the matter amicably. “He (Oduneye) must, however, write a letter of apology. Beating or no beating is not the issue. He tried to kill me. It was his action that caused what happened to him. He is old enough to be my father. But for crying out loud, I am the chairman. He must apologise to that office.”

Can you really manipulate your emotions effectively to suit your needs(without the help of an intoxicant)?

For Eg:
You met this guy and just fell for him but he's a bloody loser. Even though your emotions powered by your hormones are pushing you really hard to hand over your fragile heart to him but you decide to relent and suppress it EFFECTIVELY without ever feeling groggy.
