Nairaland GeneralRe: Nigerian Nurses Beware? by DeepZone: 7:29am On Aug 25, 2008
@theopops and Deepzone, both of you keep repeating the same thing. I am focusing on these particular nurses in this story. Yes, according to the story they disrespected their husbands. Is that a reason why they should be murdered? Be honest to yourself. If everyone who was disrespectful got murdered, the world's population will be on a big decline. What if these high school teachers started butchering every student that is rude to them? Man, lots of students would be 6ft deep
.
For the umpteenth time, there is no reason to murder anybody whether he/she is your spouse unless you are defending yourself. These windbags called American nurses have a way of getting under your skin and it's not surprising they extend it to their homes by consistently treating their husbands like they are a pariah. The high school student and teacher scenario is a weak one because there is no romantic relationship between them. To further prove this hypothesis about nurses, are there not other Nigerian women in other professions in America? doctors, pharmacists, CPA's, engineers, lawyers, teachers, programmers etc and all the aforementioned clearly make more money than these nurses, why haven't you heard their husbands hacking them into pieces. Nigerian nurses are also notorious for sleeping with their coworkers, they are usually half educated because they didnt go through the main stream school system in Nigeria. If you see a girl that went to a Nigerian university and one that went to a nursing school in Nigeria, you'll understand what I mean. The one that attended the university is usually bright, hip and an all rounder. Her PR will be sound and not laid back. So, I think these nurses suffer from half education(education is not only maths, english and anatomy) and the ones that read the nursing in America in most cases did it as full grown adults(usually with kids) so, they never had a taste of any extracurricular activity in a standard tertiary institution.
In other words, most of them are "Jew" women. Pay a "Jew" woman that amount of money that she never fathomed in her life and see her start misbehaving like a Bohemian peasant that drank one pint of vodka.

These men actually had the opportunity to walk away. Last time I checked men were physically stronger than women. It's not like they were tied up. Some of these men actually murdered their wives because the wives wanted to leave them. What does that show? Insecurity! You're not happy she earns more than you yet you won't let her leave. Haba! I know the link up there doesn't work but I actually saw the story on another site and you'D read more details.
How can you conclude that they murdered their wives because they were leaving them? For God's sake, some already left their husbands or vice versa but something that is innate transpired between both parties which you and I do not know. Look at this scenario, some people(both men and women) can kill because they caught their spouse cheating while others can walk away. It depends on the individual and varies to a large extent. Look at the case of the woman that killed her husband with a Mercedes Benz in Houston some 5 years ago, that was a temporary insanity and her husband did not deserve to die but he clearly aggravated and pushed her hard to the wall. If you must sleep with his friend or acquittance, Please, don't rub it in his face to bruise his ego because he may snap and overdo it(i heard a rumor that it was what happened in one of the cases{the Maryland case} and not a money issue). I'm saying this because there is no need beating a dead horse. These women are dead and their husbands are facing the law but there could be potential accidents like these ones that is waiting to happen. a slight adjustment in attitude could prevent it. Remember, in most cases, these nurses were brought to America by their respective husbands, their college fee was paid by these men and they may never get the degree in the first place if they had to work 40hrs and read the nursing and it'll be very unfair for you to destroy the man's life after you have your degree and making "tonnes" of thousands to insult, aggravate and announce "To your tents O israel" while putting him in a situation where he may hardly see his children again. You are dealing with an emotional issue here and it's very very delicate.

I happen to know a lady now in MD that is rushing through nursing school as fast as she can because she's planning to leave the man that is footing her school bills citing that he's too old for her. is that not using somebody? How is it that we women complain about men and the way they treat and use us but will find a reason to justify ours? If she wanted to leave for legitimate reasons, why not leave now? why wait till you run up his debt, take his child and desert him? That's typical 419. If that man wake up tomorrow now and knife her like a demented maniac, y'all will start squealing like pigs.

Ok, both you and Deepzone make more than nurses. Kudos! But aren't you doing the same thing you accuse nurses of doing? Yes, some nurses probably boast about their wealth. So do other people in other professions. My mom once told me that a fellow nurse told her that my aunt, who's also a nurse dresses like a poor person and her clothes look like walmart material. But this doesn't prove anything. Even housewives with no jobs gossip about what other women put on. That's what some women do. By the way, some nurses earn up to $40 per hour and above without working over-time. That doesn't mean anything, just making sure you know $35/hour is not their maximum
.

Obama fundraiser: EFCC storms banks

By Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja

As part of its investigation of the controversial fundraiser organised by a Nigerian group, Africans for Obama 2008, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has moved to verify the actual amount collected by the group.

The leader of the group, who is also the Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Prof. Ndidi Okereke-Onyiuke, was quizzed by the EFCC in Abuja over the fundraiser and released on bail on Thursday night. The fundraiser was described by the organisers as a move to sensitise Nigerians in the US about their interest in the bid of the presidential candidate of the United States Democratic National Convention, Mr. Barack Obama.

Reports had said that over N100 million was raised at the occasion. It was gathered that EFCC operatives were dispatched to Lagos on Thursday with a mandate to scrutinise the organisation’s books as well as its accounts in “about two or three banks.”

A highly placed source told our correspondent in Abuja that although the EFCC had returned Okereke-Onyiuke’s passport, which was earlier confiscated, she had been told that she must obtain permission from the anti-graft agency before travelling out of the country.

The source said that the commission, after the said verification, would also reach out to individuals who donated money for the concert. According to the source, “Investigators have been dispatched to banks where she said that the money was lodged. We have also asked them (investigators) to visit the headquarters of the NSE, with a view to making sure that no stone is left unturned in our determination to know the actual amount that was collected.”

It was gathered that the NSE DG had told her interrogators that the actual amount collected was not up to N100m, as being speculated. She was quoted as saying that the money was a little above N90m.

But the source said that since the commission decided not to rely on the information given by Okereke-Onyiuke, it decided to send its operatives to Lagos for a verification.

The source said, “We want to know the actual amount of money collected for the event. When we know how much was involved, then we will begin the process of recovery. We cannot recover what we don’t know. I can, however, tell you that all the monies will be recovered.”

The EFCC’s Head, Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Babafemi, confirmed the development. He said the commission would make its findings on the matter known to Nigerians as soon as possible.

Bank workers groan under deposit targets: Thousands to lose jobs, experts speak on danger ahead
By Bankole Makinde, Abuja and Seyi Geshinde
Saturday, August 23, 2008
A mass wave of retrenchment will soon hit the banking industry as managements of banks across the country have reportedly resolved to do away with the services of thousands of their members of staff who could not attain the deposit target recently set for them.

There are presently close to 50,000 workers in the banking sector, out of which more than 60 per cent would ultimately join the labour market under the new dispensation.

Saturday Tribune gathered authoritatively from workers in the various banks that the management of the 25 capitalized banks, have devised fool-proof and unchallengeable mechanism to ease workers out of the system.

The move, according to Saturday Tribune source, is aimed at shoring up the deposit base of banks for expansion and enhance both their liquidity and profitability index.

To achieve this without much protest from the public, the banks were said to have set definite unattainable deposit targets for staffers to quicken their exit from the system.

For example, deposit targets set for attainment before the end of the year hover between N3 billion per branch, N1.3 billion for new intakes and N1.6 billion for old hands per annum.

To compound their predicament, the introduction of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) has rendered most of them redundant as the jobs of hitherto cashier staff of banks are more or less not needed by the banks.

Not minding the fact that the economy is in near comatose, bank staff are mandated to meet the set target or bid bye to their jobs.

Worst hit, according to Saturday Tribune investigations across many banks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are “Freshers” and diploma holders who are, out of compulsion, ordered to turn in between N960 million per person annually and Branch Managers who must garner an average of N500 million per annum, just like old staff who must turn in an average of N1.6 billion per annum.

The most liberal bank on the policy, according to Saturday Tribune research, is a first generation bank which has set a “reasonable” N5 million to N50 million deposit target for its staff per annum.

Following the development, most bankers are now looking for less demanding jobs, irrespective of the payment portfolio to get out of the logjam.

Expectedly, fresh female graduates who are good looking remained the major targets of the banks to bring in the “loot” but the ladies too were reportedly complaining that potential depositors would always demand for “sex for cash,” thus making them trooping out of the industry in droves.

The House of Representatives recently invited the bigwigs in the Banking Sector to demand from them the reason why they should engage the ladies in the “sex trade on account of looking for deposit.”

The bankers too were said to have convinced the lawmakers that the issue was that of “offer and acceptance” as no one was forcefully coerced into accepting the job, but that the banks could only survive the stringent monetary policy of the Federal Government by sourcing for funds wherever and however possible.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the lawmakers complained that using the ladies as “experimental rats” could complicate the HIV/AIDS situation in the country.

A top banker who spoke with Saturday Tribune on condition of strict anonymity, declared that the amount of the deposit target chosen by any bank was a direct reflection of its liquidity base and solvency in the banking industry.

However, speaking on the trauma that could follow the sudden lay-off of workers from their duty posts, the Head, Department of Psychiatry, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Prof Oye Gureje, said depression could set in, thereby leading to psychological problems which were injurious to the victims and the society at large.

He said though, people have their different ways of handling the situation, many, especially, breadwinners in their families, might not be able to adapt favourably with the development when it dawned on them that they could no longer meet their daily obligations.

“If a worker is laid off suddenly from his duty post without any buffer, or certain benefits or sustenance means like pension, along the line, depression may set in and can lead to psychological problems.

“When someone who has been working before could no longer go to work or a breadwinner could no longer provide for his family, such becomes frustrated owing to the need to depend on other people for daily living.

“Again, it leads to anger and some may result to crime as a way of venting the anger on the society.

“Another is if such a person does not have the coping skill or support to sustain while still being unemployed, he/she may take to crime,” Gureje said.

Without offering the needed support, he said the victims might gradually lost their sense of worth and value when they could no longer do what they used to do or meet up with already set plans.

“But when complications begin to set in, the best is to seek for professional help,” Gureje said.

Also contributing, a cardiologist, Dr. Abiodun Adeoye of the UCH, Ibadan, said though a pathetic situation, coping with the depression that might follow depended on a person’s previous health records.

He said if those who fell victims had not had previous records of Psychiatry cases, they might get over the disappointment with time, but if they had been patients, the resultant effects could be awkward.

“Some may not be able to sleep well again or wake up early, it leads to sympathetic drive and all these are what lead to stress which is a psychiatry problem.

“In the long run, it can cause hypertension (high blood pressure) because of excessive thinking, all these are psychological disorders and depression most importantly, it is a psychiatric case.

“For some, they take to excessive eating, gaining weight and if this happens, it can lead to fatness of the heart, which is a cardiac disorder, some may refuse to eat, thereby losing weight, it affects their health too.

“But the fact is that it is not everybody that will be negatively affected, some may be able to cope with the situation, while others may not be able to cope,” Adeoye said.

W e still have the last three standing, yes, the last three who have evolved from a list of twenty actresses we began with eight weeks ago.

ni Edo could not keep up with her last week’s impressive performance, she came 2nd this week with 1,194 votes. Her total of 4,899 keeps her at 2nd position.

Genevieve Nnaji takes the lead again this week with 1,370 votes, maintaining her 1st slot with a total of 5,094 votes.

Mercy Johnson keeps slipping more and more behind. Her weak votes of 686 this week and her total of 3,818 votes could not get her in any position other than 3rd

advertisement

The list would have gone from three to two and then on to the winner but we have deliberately kept the quest on to reward our readers, the voters, who have been spending their money week in week out.

The promo on our papers says all you have to do to be one of the three winners to be rewarded for their contributions in making this quest a successful adventure.

Now, haven’t we heard the cliche that one man’s meat is another man’s poison? The idea of some voters going for the jugular of other voters because of their choice is not only primitive but most uncultured. This quest is just a public opinion poll where everyone has the right of expression.

The actresses have no knowledge of it (well, if I may say that) and the idea of hurling dirt at them just because they happen to be stars is most uncool. As from now on, any unhealthy text or mail, directed either to the actresses or other voters would be voided!

Last week, we saw how Ini Edo claimed the week with 671 votes, followed by Genevieve Nnaji who had 558 votes and Mercy Johnson in the 3rd slot with 539 votes. Though Ini led last week’s voting but remained at 2nd position because her total of 3,705 did not match up to Genevieve’s total of 3,724, who remained at the 1st spot. Mercy has refused to leave the 3rd position for about four weeks running now.

This week, Genevieve came back to lead the trio, polling 1,370 votes to beat Ini’s 1,194 votes and Mercy’s 630 votes. Though a total of 3,368 votes came in this week, only 3,250 were counted as 118 votes counted as multiple votes. So, the count-down goes like this: Genevieve Nnaji has 5,094 votes, Ini Edo 4,899 votes and Mercy Johnson 3,818 votes.

The total votes that have been received in this quest so far comes to 18,049. Yet, the battle continues! WHO IS THE SEXIEST NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS 2008?

For the SEXIEST NOLLYWOOD ACTOR 2008, names like Jim Iyke, Desmond Elliot, Chidi Mokeme, Mike Ezuruonye, Pat Attah, Nonso Diobi, Emeka Ike and Muna Obiekwe have been nominated. Dear readers, as you vote in your SEXIEST ACTRESS, please nominate your SEXIEST ACTOR. Have a feel of some of the messages that came in this week:

INI EDO

1. People die of hunger, diseases and poverty but with Ini Edo, you can forget your sorrows. Ini Edo creates a chance for you to see God with her sexiest eyes and actions. She’s the sexiest actress in Nollywood.

Onafete, Ughelli, 08073613866

2. On behalf of Bill Gates, the Sultan of Brunei, Mike Adenuga, Aliko Dangote, my humble self and all my billionaire colleagues, we are saying Ini Edo is the sexiest.

Pam Isa, Plateau State, 08034591237

3. Since you forgot to put my most beautiful lady on earth- the sexiest Omotola, Ini Edo is the sexiest. I choose her for her beauty, she’s too beautiful. Genny is a black beauty and I love her but she’s not the sexiest. Ini Edo is a goddess; the face, the skin, the shape, is there any difference between her skin and a mirror? Her lovely skin always shines like a diamond. I wish I were a man, I would have done anything to have her as a wife. Crown her as the sexiest in Nollywood.

Juliet, PHC, 08077047063

4. Ini Edo remains the sexiest and the best in Nollywood.

Gbenga, Ado-Ekiti, 08035164576

5. Being sexy is not only about being beautiful but the ability to attract and lure someone sexually. Ini Edo’s natural endowments must be the cure for impotence, I suspect. She’s the sexiest, I give it to her.

Dede, Uyo, 08084169600

6. When you talk about sexiest, you go straight to Ini Edo. First, check out her butt before you see the award-winning boobs that make her pure as original. In fact, Ini is too much.

Sam, Bayelsa State, 08074307780

7. Ini Edo is no doubt the sexiest actress presently in Nollywood. She can move any man to gain monumental erection. She’s the queen of Nollywood divas.

Jibrin, Lagos,08028296617

8. As far as I am concerned, Angel Ini Edo is the sexiest in Nollywood because God really took time in creating her, a perfection.

Benedict, Akure, Ondo State,08060477266

9. The sexiest in Nollywood? Even the blind will go for Ini Edo without the slightest hesitation. She’s simply the ultimate diva of all divas in Nollywood for all times. She stands out among the pack. Give it to her, she deserves the top spot. Hope she gets it.

Ndayagi, Lagos,08027004663

10. Please tell girls to stop insulting their star actresses all because they are asked to vote for them. Genny is beautiful, no doubt. Mercy is sexy for sure but the sexiest among them is Iniobong Edoho.

Cristelna, Akwa Ibom, 07025615982

GENEVIEVE NNAJI

1. Hello, don’t kill the flame of love. Genevieve Nnaji is the first among the sexiest. She’s like an angel of love and looks like a flower decorated in the garden of love

Ayodeji, Ibadan, 08028467692

2. If it was possible for me to go to the moon to place Genny’s picture on it so that the whole world would see how beautiful she is, I would have done it for her. I like Genevieve with all my heart, she’s Nollywood’s sexiest.

Egwuatu, PHC, 08064526583

3. Genny deserves to be the sexiest in Nollywood because she’s got it all it takes and she’s so smart that her body can put a smile on every man’s face.

Winifred, UNIMAID, 08023313049

4. Genny is the sexiest in Nollywood. Check out her curves, smooth body and above all, she’s forever young.

Ogechi, Kaduna, 08034121091

5. Genevieve Nnaji is the sexiest in Nollywood. She looks very sexy in every respect, any day, any time.

Bayoor, Sokoto, 08083438300

6. Fellow readers, is of no use criticizing either Ini or Mercy because they have admirers too. I think it’s better we put our heads together and vote Genny because she merits it. For instance, she does not expose her body while acting which shows decency. If I must say, she’s my role model. Only those that have eyes will see that she’s very, very sexy. And I think there’s no much difference between me and Genny.

Nora, Abuja,07034901931

7. Genevive Nnaji is an extraordinary gift to Nollywood. She’s impeccably mature, masterful and her alluring and inviting composure can disarm even Iraqi suicide bombers.

Chukwuemeka, Aba,08037202010

8. Uncountable gbosas to Genny. I hold Gene in high esteem. I’m an upcoming actress and I have never for one day stopped thinking of her as my role model because she’s too much and has no equal in terms of everything as far as the movie industry is concerned.

Lucy, Sango Otta, Ogun State, 08074724317

9. Hello, I came in from Mexico and I have watched lots of Genny’s movies. She’s focused, real, brilliant and above all, so beautiful both in and out. The other two are good but Genny is the Bam men! Too fucking good.

Luchi, Lagos, 08038242483

10. Genevieve is the sexiest in Nollywood. Her sexy eyes, soft skin, nice voice, everything about her is sexy. Her decent dress sense and her light make-ups make her look more beautiful. Being sexy is all about your build up, outfits, your workings, your soft looks, Genny has all these qualities. God took his time to create her.

Franca, Benin City, 08052812923

MERCY JOHNSON

1. Please give it to Mercy Johnson: she’s got the height, boobs, booty, pretty face, sexy smile that takes me to Planet 9 unlike other Naija actresses (Genny and Ini). I think she’s a Chelsea fan because she likes blue dresses a lot.

Akpoesiri, Warri, 08074491117

2. Realistically, Mercy is worth it. She does not dress to impress, she’s sexy at every scene unlike Ini Edo and Genevive. Mercy or nobody else.

Mac, Onitsha,08034043060

3. Let’s clear the air on this issue. Genny is pretty and a wife material. Ini, is good for a relationship but for serious sex and intimacy, call Johnson. I give it to Mercy Johnson.

John, Lagos, 08059260736

4. Spare me all the gimmicks exhibited by the ‘buy-me-a-burger-and-I-will-lie-bloated’ cynics. Imagine all the charades! Please this is is no enemy lines, don’t harm Mercy Johnson with all the envy. Stop the hype and watch the movie The Corporate Maid. The topic here is sexiest. The ABC of sexy is A**, Bust and curves which Mercy best has. If you haven’t got it, you know where to get your silicon for your plastic surgeries. At this apogee, let’s not go to Hague, Mercy is it.

Alex, PHC, 08033773467

5.Genny is a chic, judging from her petite and beautiful nature. Even though she’s over done herself all in the name of slimming down. Ini, oh, my Ini. She could have passed for the remarkable sexiest gal but not the way she shows off. Let’s not forget morals, sexiness is structural. It’s in you, it’s there for all to see. If you must flaunt, you must flaunt graciously- like leaving more for imagination. Umh! Mercy, have you seen this girl walk? Check out her sways, she moves graciously. She has a perfect height, long legs, the best sets of boobs, well shaped hips that rounds off the butts. And to crown it up, a perfect slim waist that will make any girl go green with envy. As an African woman, she’s the African pride. She rules.

Princess, Lagos, 08054629074

6. Mercy is a sweet-coated Choco Milo, milky, creamy, yummy honey dipped in melting Mozzarella Pepperoni, spicy, icy, pea-nutty, cheesy and buttery babe. Give it all to her.

Lolotha, Warri, 08054281291

7. Mercy Johnson has got it all. There’s no pleasing sexy physical quality you would not find in her. Genny is not supposed to be in this contest. This has nothing to do with being the Best Actress, we are talking about sexy here. Ini Edo should please step down, this is not a fashion show or anything to do with fashion. Come rain, come shine, Mercy pass you, Mercy is number one.

Rosemary, Makurdi, Benue state,08076220001

8. Up Mercy Johnson. We shouldn’t be confused with these words: pretty, beautiful or fine, and sexy. To vote in respect of being sexy, proudly Mercy Johnson. Genny is pretty, Ini is fine but Mercy is naturally endowed with an elegant backside and a spontaneous classy boobs.

Divine Chairman, Lagos, 08029792850

9. It takes taste to make haste even in the race of fame, the name, Mercy, still lay straight like slate even the magistrate can still dictate the train up, even if there’s no faith it will not stop the back train from shaking. Even if I can’t pay, I cannot stop to pray that God should place her face in the gate of my brain. Up Mercy Johnson.

08078474714.

10. Mercy Johnson is unarguably the sexiest in Nollywood. Check out her curved hips and inviting luscious boobs with her succulent lips. In fact, she’s every real man’s fantasy.

DMB, Asaba, 08038845457

I'm not talking about a seared conscience, am talking about a conscience that is fed with God's word everytime
. A heart that's right with God, and not a reprobate heart. Prove your actions with God's word. If after quoting the scripture i quoted in my last post, he feels it's okay for him, then why not? As far as his (right) conscience allows him. Though personally, i won't consider working in a brewery or a tobacco company.
Most pastors that molest children, impregnate the laity, steal church money, smoke marijuana at the wake of the night also have a conscience that is fed with God's word everytime. American mega pastor, Jimmy Swaggart was sponsoring the porn industry and patronizing prostitutes even when he was busy feeding the world with God's word.

na wah!! Shocked

There appear to be so many issues or dos and donts. Can one really be a muslim, fullfilling all the rules?? And what about the rules he does not know?? Or other interpretations by 'scholars'??
Why do muslims rely on scholars to interpret their koran for them? Can't they read and understand with the help of God's spirit?

Nairaland GeneralRe: Nigerian Nurses Beware? by DeepZone: 9:07am On Aug 24, 2008
we're talking average salaries of the average nurse not nurse practictioners
The average salary of a nurse ie RN with associate degree from a community college is 45 to 50 thousand or thereabout.
(working 40 hrs a week.)
which is what most Nigerian nurses are.
ONly few have BSN
It's still a good salary

Nigerian nurses make 75 K by 40 hrs of regular job and hours of overtime.
Most of the females in my family are nurses.

No I make no excuses for the killers.
Funmi described the average Nigerian nurse no doubt but do they deserve to be killed?
absolutely not!

average nurse salaries.
see this
http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Registered_Nurse_(RN)/Salary
Thank you for the analysis. Remember that the $75K they make is Gross and take home will be about $45-$50K. But when you see them, they hang their big mouth like they take home about $20K a month.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Nigerian Nurses Beware? by DeepZone: 9:05am On Aug 24, 2008
Got to agree with DZ on some of her points. No, it is an illusion. Nurses do not make "tonnes of thousands". At what expenses do they make the "tonnes of thousands"? At the expense of their kids? Happiness? A fruitful marriage? They get paid by the hours. So, if them like, they can work 22hrs out of 24hrs. You can't compare a salaried worker to an hourly worker. Take for example, I work M-F, about 40hrs. Some week, I work 45hrs, some week I work 38hrs. The thing is, I still get paid the same each month. And guess what, my BP is not reading high, because I am less stressed. And I can tell you, even with a nurse working 80hrs in a week (if thats possible) and making 35/hr, I still make more than her. So, lets start to tell the truth. Nurses are in high demand, no doubt. But, they should learn to have a balance. Just like DZ said, money is not everything. The key word is being satisfied. A lot of people aint satisfied with what they make. They want to acquire more and more things. Money is very good, but don't let it drive your life.

And yes, the few Nigerian nurses I have come in contact with, have a big mouth.

Also people, when others talk about the nurses or people they have met, and you happen to know one that is not loud or like the poster said, its ok. It's not like the poster knows every single one of them nurses. If your mom or sister or cousin is different, thats good. There aint no need to crucify the poster.

All in all, if you don't know your role in your marriage, you will either be very unhappy or miserable. There is a role for each sex. If there wasn't, God would have created us all in one sex. So whether you like it or not, a disrespectful wife, is a disrespectful wife. Whether she be nurse o, or doctor.
Thank you. The problem here is that most people inadvertently assume you are pointing at them or their folks whenever you type. It's obvious that every Nigerian nurse in America is not arrogant but the percentage of the humble ones are infinitesimal.

Another thing is that most of these people you discuss with here have neither worked before nor paid taxes, so, they come here and quote hearsay. Imagine someone saying that nurses earn up to $40 bucks per hr as if $40/hr is a million dollars. I wish the women's movt should reiterate on this fact and let we women understand the intricacies of a broken home and the extent at which a nurse's salary or any salary can take you.

Lesson 101 in America:

If you are married, always make sure one party can afford all the bills to a large extent if not all in case of divorce, death, sickness or incarceration.

Most couples here combine their income to give themselves a good life beyond their means and women are always the first to forget that it's part of their husband's income that made it possible. They quickly buy two new vehicles on credit, mortgage, children etc BUT when trouble comes, the police, lawyer and the court will be pushing her to press charges because that's how they make their money but the information they'll not give her is that after all said and done, she's on her own.
How can she pay a $700 car note, $300/month insurance, $1500 mortgage(low side), feeding, miscellaneous, gas, house insurance, medical insurance on a NURSE"S SALARY? Is she the white house nurse?

Have you noticed that most foreclosed homes belong to divorced couples? That is the reason why they can't get by and most American women take it further by sending the man to jail forgetting that his child support will also go to jail with him and even if he comes out with a record, he may never get a good job again that will yield a fat child support. That's why white women rarely do that, they think smarter than we black women and our arrogance can never let us see that, we rather blame it on the fact that they are docile. Now tell me, who is actually the dummy?

What the. . . ? I can't fit laugh!

No, no, wait, I can fit laugh. . . Rotflmao! Lmao! Lmao!! Cheesy Grin Cheesy

Lord save me from people who hear one word and don't bother researching before using it.

A media LovePeddler is someone who does everything and anything to attract attention.

A Media LovePeddler is someone who courts the media by doing ridiculous thing as long as it gets tongues wagging.

A media LovePeddler is someone who gets off hearing people talk about them.

A media LovePeddler is someone who thinks any attention is better than no attention.

A media LovePeddler is NOT someone who believes everything they hear from the media.

Rotflmao! Ay yi yi! Cheesy Cheesy
You see why i preach that most of these dime a dozen bimbos that come here should go back to school. Media LovePeddler is a metaphor(that is if you know what a metaphor is) and it can have as many meanings as possible. The ones you listed above are plausible interpretations but they are not limited. Is "media LovePeddler" one word? all these "aboki" and "abokess" that flood this site makes me wanna puke.

Umm, there's racism in every professional job in the States, believe it or not. How many hospitals are owned by blacks? How many black judges have there been in the states??
Yea but it's easier for a nurse to pick a job as soon as the other one is lost. there is no long application needed. Even in Naija, nursing is not an attractive field but am yet to see a qualified naija nurse that applied for a job more than one month. Their salary is another story tho.

I only mentioned that story(which is true by the way) to show you how 'qualified' some doctors in Nigeria are. Like you said, American board exam is hard, why then should nurses who came from Nigeria not feel proud of moving to the States and passing the 'hard' exam??. When my mom moved to the States, she took the board exam for nurses and passed after the first trial even though she studied nursing back in Nigeria. And the terminologies used in Nigeria(similar to europe's) is very different from that of America. I know some other people who have taken that exam the 100th time and keep failing. So, why shouldn't those who made it be proud of themselves? LOL!
Actually, i meant the board exam for physicians. I don't know much about the nurse's board exam but it's not that preety tight. Trust me, if you can pass the board exam for doctors in America, i don't care whether you went to university of Damaturu, you are tight.

Lol, they do make tons of thousands oh. You want me to tell you how much my mother makes?Huh I can't *lips sealed*. LOL!
Do I need to know? Of course, she can make extra depending on how many hrs she works and there are peculiar places that pay peculiar money but generally, an avg nurse that has no children may hit 90K/PA but if she has children and value her kids well, she won't hit more than $70K which is the first salary of many masters degree holder in America that works 40hrs or less. It's how many hrs you worked that is the factor and not how much b/c a construction worker that makes $25 per hr in Alaska or Texas and works 70hrs a week will make more than a nurse that works 60 hrs a week in NY.

Well, these women paid the bills but still got butchered. They lost both ways, you see. Like I said earlier, I don't intend on being a nurse(even though my mom is one) and not even because of this story. I just don't like the title, 'doctor' sounds better, lol. Neither am I going to marry someone I earn more than since according to you, God made men to have 'egos'.
first of all, there is no indication on whether they paid the bills, who knows, adultery may be another reason for the murders. On the issue of you marrying someone richer than you, for what? why limit yourself? It's not how big your wallet is, rather, it's how you control it that really matters. There are men that have big and are real assholes and I bet you, you'll rather marry a brick layer than live with them. I'm not asking you to marry a loser, but do not be fixated on his purse and how to pay the bills. Shouldn't that be the reason why we pray and rely on God? You may marry a rich guy today and turn around and become richer than him in 5 years, will you reject the success b/c you must earn less than your man?
. You know how divorce is regarded in the Nigerian community. Tongues would begin wagging about how her husband left her. Isn't that enough karma??. Is the man really considering his kids by taking away the life of the woman who gave them life??. I'm the last child of my parents, my immediate older sibling is 18, he hasn't ran out of the house. The other 2 are about to be 20. They're all in college and haven't run out of house. I also have an aunt(not an aunt really but that's what I call her), her first child is done with school(nurse), she still comes to visit. So is the second. All the kids are 18 and above, they haven't ran away. They're all US-citizens.

It depends. are you from a broken home? I guess not. Do you think that you could be thinking this way if your mom kicked your dad to the curb because of her nurse's money? You can do whatever you want with your children's father but when the time comes, you'll definitely regret it. Once again, am not supporting what the men did and that's why am looking at it from every angle. DO NOT AGGRAVATE PEOPLE PURPOSELY BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.

Hannibal is very bitter because instead of investing the little $10K he got from one British mugu, he decided to invest it on Funmi hoping for a cash back. Even his friend Eldee advised him to use the money and start one small shop near oshodi where he can be vending cigarette and coke and make a living but he never listened. I blew his cash in 2 weeks and blew him away after the last penny was spent. I later had to regret it tho because it was EXTREMELY difficult to lay him off. He was jumping out from the bush anytime I get to a cocktail party or date so much that I claimed that he's a paparazzi sometime. I know it's hard losing your penny on a booty you didnt get to touch but such is life. For every win, someone must lose.

If you don't know how to dump a guy. . . . just use the into to Usher's "Let it Burn". all will be good.
Once again, it'll not work on Hannibal. EFCC seems to be the only effective way to lay him off your back, in case you get involved with him tomorrow, Usher's let it burn will not help you. I used EFCC to haul him out of my life.

Why do we seem to presume that N100m was actually raised at the event?
It was reported they raised N88M. The sad thing about it is that she's not actually the main fund raiser, they just used her name to attract big spenders. The main people wey chop the money(mostly MEN) are behind the scene with their tooth pick in their mouth. Some of them may even be on Nairaland.

I don't have any sympathy for any of the 'donors'.

If the attendees can put up millions to attend the party,
I am sure they can be trusted to understand the reasons
for the fundraising.

Doesn't say much about our smarts if such, I presume, highflyers
can be so easily duped.
True; If left for me, I think any amount recouped should be sent to the salvation army.
