lanresz: You can fly directly to Halifax. You don't need to go to Toronto or Montreal first. Flying directly to Halifax will reduce your flying time a lot. Thank you so much! |

Good morning… I will be starting college in Halifax this March and I am currently booking my flight. I found a route from Lagos to London,UK and then directly to Halifax.
Can I book this flight and receive my study permit at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, or do I need to arrive first in Toronto or Montreal to get my study permit?
Thank you. |

The wait for ITA through FSW is long patience. Been in the pool since 2020, clocked 30 and score has dropped to 478 from 483.
For all of us to waiting - may we smile soon. |

I just noticed I made a spelling error in my visa application form for my bank name. I spelt the G in GTB as Guarantee instead of Guaranty. I hope this is not an issue? |

GraciousWords: I agree with those that say it is date you wrote the exam, especially because of Allegory's point that the test report date can be many months after the report release date. If it were me I'd choose the most conservative date which is the exam date.

Your language test results must be valid (written in the last two years) when you submit your application for permanent residence. Thank you so much for this. I guess to be on the safe side I will go with the Exam date. |

Please, someone should help with my question. DeevaB: Hello house, my passport is due to expire January 2023. I renewed and have a new one.
My TB test has the old passport number. Do I need to go IOM update this to the new passport number ?
My draft CAS has the old passport number and I requested to change it to the new passport number. Is this okay?
Please advise? |

Naijablackboy: Please do you know of any that's still open for applications, I've done my research and seen a couple. But more alternatives won't be bad Thanks Check out Wayne State University. They have an info session coming up and if you attend the info session and submit your application within 72 hours after the event the application fee of $50 will be waived. |

Thank you so much for replying and for the advice. Since it is a win-win situation I will explore the option of using my personal funds. Svelte98: Hey, I don't know if anyone has answered you yet, so I hope this helps.
I'm actually in the same shoe as you (not with Virginia Tech though, mine is ETSU). I'm waiting on them to make GA decisions which will take place between April to June. Personally, I'm hopeful that I'll be given an offer atleast by the second week of May so I can start working on my I-20 and visa application, since my program starts in August.
Here's what you can do; you can start processing your I-20 with your personal funds and see if you can secure a visa date. If during the process, the GA funding is given to you, you can always print out the offer letter and go with it to your visa appointment and try and explain to the V.O when you're asked about funding. Just my two cents.
Its a win-win situation.
Cheers! |

Someone, please advise me.... DeevaB: I have an offer from Virginia Tech, I am being considered for GA funding and the Grad coord informed me GA funding (covers 50% of tuition with stipend) will be released in July and my program starts in August. COA is 50k.
Because of time, should I use my personal fund and my dad as a sponsor to get my i-20 and also for sevis fee and start looking for an appointment date or wait till the GA funding list is out before starting the visa processing?
Please advise.
Thank you. |

Please I need your advice.
I have an offer from Northeastern (MBA), the cost is $85k and received $10,000 funding, deposit fee is due late February. I have another offer from Virginia Tech (MBA), cost is $50K and the grad coord told me GA positions which cover 50% of tuition with stipends are available and the selection list will be out July, this is also when school resumes. Decided to go with VTech
I want to start my visa application now with a personal fund of $15k and I use mpower loan for the balance, or wait till July for the GA positions list then start the visa application, I heard funding/GA helps with the visa interview.
PS, I don't have any rich uncle or aunty I can get a SOA from.
Please advice. Thank you... |
