Well, which tribe wouldn't assimilate, transform and dissolve into other culture if they are renown for desperation, unbridled affinity for filthy lucre, penchant to outdo one another in the craze for sudden wealth and lack of respect for peaceful coexistence.

I wonder why Igbos are so besotted with the genius of Awo . For pete's sake this man died ages ago! Anyway, as someone said, at the name of AWO, all Igbos must bow. I have said it severally to you thick skull Igbos,AWO DOES NOT OWE YOU JACK! YOU MAY HATE HIM FOR TEACHING YOUR FADAS SOME BASIC LESSONS IN HOW NOT TO FIGHT A WAR, BUT WE YORUBAS LOVE AND APPRECIATE HIM FOR HIS SHEER GENIUS, THE NOBLE ROLE HE PLAYED IN OUR HISTORY AND THE ADVANCEMENT HE BROUGHT TO BEAR ON OUR LAND. Heck, this guy gave us TV before the irish and south Africans!Your Zik was a complete disaster in the eastern region and NONE of your leaders can match his achievements Zik with all his so called nationalism is a little man who achieved very little forhis country and people. Today, he lies in an unkempt grave begging for government attention. Tribune,Awo's newspaper still flourishes while the over 40 Zik propaganda machines (newspapers) are all in extinction.Yorubas does not need your useless, silly nationalism.buried in our hearts is the hope that one day we will get rid of all you leeches and build a proper country.

This is the zinger!. The ever domineering attitude of the Igbos led to their decimation. All these Genocidal rants amounts to nothing because Awolowo reportedly said that Ojukwu was offered to open food corridor where food will be delivered to Women and Children but He declined, only to offer to have Aircraft deliver food in the dead of the night whilst FG will be paying him Landing rights for the Aircraft. Thank u for ur mature comment. However, I must say that I have been cheated in dis country badly that I find it very hard to believe in d country anymore. Firstly, I proposed a system of verifying NAFDAC numbers and submitted to NAFDAC.The whole project was hijacked. Secondly, my former house where lived was to be sold (block of 4 Flats) we d tenants decided to buy d house by flat basis. We approached a bank collectively to buy d house and we will pay back on mortgage basis over a 12 yrs period. The idea was hijacked by a staff of d bank assigned to evaluate d house. Today he is d owner of d house. While d tenants pay rents to him, he pays d bank d premium as a mortgage.
Now I have a company in South Africa and I was registered as a supplier to SA Prisons. We have been called out of d blue several times to come and tender quotations for d supply of stationery and toiletries. I have done supplies like 4 times. Okay, let me ask Mr Fani Kayode one question: WHAT ABOUT THE 20 POUND POLICY? How did he forget that one?

What even baffles me is that Achebe never attacked Yoruba people; HE "ATTACKED" AWOLOWO, and unless Awolowo has become Oduduwa himself, it should be an insult to the Yoruba tribe for anyone to pretend that Awo even rises to touch the shoes of such noble Yoruba sons, as Prof Wole Soyinka, Fela Anikulapo Kutui (and his entire Ransome Kuti family), and even my spiritual mentor Dr D. K Olukoya. cool
So, I get personally indignant on behalf of Yoruba folks, when people raise Awo above the entire tribe. [\quote]

It is clearly self evident that you are delusional and obviously impervious to the Truth. Pray tell, it will be foolhardy for anybody to ever think that Wole Soyinka or any the Ransome Kuti can ever play in the league with Chief Obafemi Oyeniyi Awolowo forever in Yoruba history

20 pounds Policy

When your brothers looted the CBN offices in Benin and Port Harcourt as well as Commercial banks in a bid to buy arms and ammunitions to prosecute the War, they forgot that the centre of financial intelligence resides in the South West or do you presuppose that they should have been left alone without encumbering them with this policy so as to dictate the pace of the War with Nigerian money?. Unfortunately for those thieving bandits, they forgot to keep records of the Bank depositors, which later became the yardstick of returning money back to depositors. Those that couldn't provide any documentary evidence of deposits were the ones given the 20 pounds.

Please tell me, do you imply that the Biafran Pounds become Legal Tender in Nigerian Territory or that the FG should have recognize an illegal Country or should have done a 1-1 exchange of the Biafran money to the Nigerian money?. It is perfidious and totally insane to even pursue this line of thinking.

well, u should go and read the UN guidelines.... Before a. Group can be supplied wit arms, it has to be a sovreign, with it's own currency, anthem and do I say democrats? Nigeria was waging war against d igbos, ojukwu had to formally secede inother to get arms...

U see, totally against war, because I know that there are other diplomatic ways to break free. All the igbos need is to apply wit and this is why none of the
powerful igbos are supporting biafran war strategy. This freedom will come, it's just a matter of time

yes they did!!! Britain initiated the war. This is a fact u cannot get from google or any text book but a fact nonetheless... The notion that war ensued because of the seccession is a wrong one and even if it wasn't, it's not the whole truth. It had been, is and will always be about the oil. This clash of interest dates back to pre-independence.. The igbos and yorubas were well travelled and educated, the Hausas were..... Cattle rearers. We wanted our independence, the British didn't want to go and d hausas well aware dat they amounted to nothinginsisted dat a treaty be signed allowing dem to control a higher percentage of the house( dat was d beginning of this majority/ minority crap). The cabal agreed, they just needed the British gone... Fastforward to post I dependence, the same cabal plotted a coup to kill top military men but the real deal was to kill d few powerful hausas and dis is why awolowo( puttin him in prison was a ploy to save his life) and a host of others escaped. Aguiyi Ironsi became d head of state and because this had already planned by the powers that be ( this cabal was made up of yorubas and igbos)he merely imprisoned instead of killing kaduna nzogwu, the puppet dat was used to carry out d coup.

The British, fully aware that an Igbo man in power will cancel some of the treaties signed be dem nd lo foil there plan, gathered the hausas and told them that an Igbo man in power is their undoing. U see, the British fear and are in awe of the igbos especially the elite among them for the same reasons other ethnic groups hate us: our brillance, smartness, doggedness, diplomacy, name it! They had to kill ironsi, they used the well known mallam tasini of Kano, who until his death in 1980,fed on human skull and blood. It was tasini dat removed ironsi's charm while he was bathin and replaced it wit a fake one, it was only den dat they succeeded in killing ironsi and enthroned Gowon who they used as a pawn.

Following the mass killing of the igbos in d north, ojukwu was saddened and threatened to pull out. At first, Gowon was of the opinion that Nigeria didn't need d igboman and den the British called him and said " bia man, are u this foolish? U want to give in to this seccession, don't u know u have everytin to loose? If d igbos pull out, u ll be left wit nothing except cattle! U cannot allow this people to leave. Then came the Aburi accord but it wasn't good enuf for the British and so they asked Gowon to keep us or kill us.

Ojukwu had good intentions, he just didn't act at the ryt time perhaps cz he was too young and enthusiastic. The great zik, a member of the cabal dat formed this great country tried to warn him dat war at that time wasn't the best strategy, his father begged him too dat his biz is scattered all over the country but ojukwu would hear none of it, his reply to the dad was that he ll be richer than he was if Biafra won. As we all know, the dad died of heart attack shortly after.

During d war, the US didn't help us cz we were under d common wealth and they didn't want tohave anything to do with their colonial masters, France was an ally to Britain. Gabon supported us because they too as a colony of Britain didn't want to remain together. U see, they were hopin dat our success ll pave way for their own devision. The british made a terrible mistake wen they amalgamated differnt ethnic groups into one country. Most of their colonies has this problem; Gabon, Ghana etc. Of all these countries, Nigeria was the giant and if the seccession had been successful, other countries would have followed suit. Do u see why Britain couldn't allow Biafra to be? They achieved their purpose by playing on the ignorance of the hausas, they manipulated gowon

Backtrack to wen awolowo was freed from prison- he knew the original plan of the cabal to dethrone the intellectually backward hausas, he was even in support. He promissed to leave wit the igbos, he promised to give us men and land. The original plan was that all tribes ll seccede, leaving the hausas alone to their Ill fate. Yoruba land should have been a haven for the Igbo soldiers but awo sold out. He betrayed the cabal and wen the war arrived ore, Yoruba armymen already knew abt thleir heads betrayal and so they turned around to fight the igbos. That is why they are seen as coward

someone asked why ojukwu seceded wen he knew Biafra was poorly equiped-- well dat was the only way they could get arms, they had to declare a sovereign state in accordance with the guidelines of the UN.

As we all know, the war was a tough one and Biafra persevered. Biafra lost out not cause Nigeria was stronger but cause of the strong allies backing them up, allies that cannot allow Igbo people wit their oil and smartness to rule

and dis is why no igboman has been able torule since then. Okadigbo rose to a high position and then he saw sometin he wasn't supposed to see and he was killed

the problems of the igbos isn't awo or Nigeria, dat is why I do not advocate for any war. Igbos should not make the same mistake ojukwu made. Violence is not the answer, they should apply the traits in them the british fears so much and look for a way to stop d influence of our colonial masters ON us. Britain is the problem, anyother tribe in Nigeria cannot stand the heat- break the stronghold and the house falls.

It's all about the oil, Britain will do anytin to get hold of it! I always laugh wen I hear people say" Nigeria is a mess, we need our colonial masters to come and govern us again" if only they knew....

Was it Awolowo that denied Ojukwu access to his Father's property?. Was it a Yoruba man?. Where was Achebe to advise Ojukwu before embarking on this misadventure? Or I guess Ojukwu or his now supporter in chief Achebe never thought of the unitended consequences of War, which is in this case Abandoned properties especially from a tribe that will never stay in their part of the country because of the small mass of land but will never let their host enjoy peace and quiet due to their domineering attitude.

NovusHomo: Dele Momodu's piece above demonstrates the naivety of both Moshood Abiola and all those who claimed they were fighting for the latter's mandate. In my humble opinion, Abiola renounced his own mandate when, after the election was annulled, he pompously got into a private jet and flew out of the country (perhaps, in search of foreign support). You don't see a thief steal from you and you just casually walk away! I guess he wanted to fight for his stolen mandate far away from the discomfort of Nigeria, while leaving his less fortunate supporters to take to the streets and face the army. It was even surprising that some people did actually believe that Abiola might walk out a free man. That would have had to happen as a result of a military coup d'Etat that would have ousted Abacha. Abiola knew a thing or two about those "arrangements". But this time, it was almost impossible. Yet, Nigeria was moving gradually to what might have been a repeat of 1967-1970 (though under different circumstances); a scary scenario, given the depth of mutual suspicion or is it hate among the diverse ethnicities, the size of the country's population, and the assured effect on the West African subregion. Something had to give. Who knows what transpired between the various European capitals. Who knows what they knew about Abiola in the light of his friendships, business dealings, and his incessant demand for reparations. One thing is sure, to avert a total breakdown of the Nigerian geopolitical space, the two protagonists had to go. There lies Abiola's sacrifice, not that he was a willing lamb. Eternal peace to his soul.

This your shabby attempt at revisionism calls for serious concern because if you were matured enough to decipher issues and happenings at that time, you will realize that no single individual regardless of how wealthy and powerful he is, can fight a military government successfully without support of the international community. If you were alive then, you will remember that people like Mandela, Thambo Mbeki, Walter Sisulu went on exile to solicit and bring to bear on the Apartheid government the need to retract their steps from perfidy and from the path of opprobrium .

If American interest at that time were threaten directly by the presence of Abacha and his fellow bandits, the American government would have garnered support from the rest of the international community and would have generated a UN Resolution to flush them out without any dissenting opinion and restored MKO's mandate regardless of MKO's friendships, business dealings, and his incessant demand for reparations
