We are not justified by good works. It nullifies grace. However, when u hv been regenerated, it is in ur nature to do good works.
Good works are an offshoot of the life within.

If however an unregenerated man does good works, a way of salvation is provided for him (see d man Peter was sent to after Peter's vision of unclean animals). If d man accepts the gospel, fine! If not, he does not have salvation.
Thank you. Nothing to add!

Amen. I believe Ephesians 2:8,9. It doesn't say we are saved through faith ALONE.

Now can you answer my questions or has it got to that time when the Pharisees bolt away looking stupid and confounded?

1. If you have faith, and no works, can that faith save you?

2. If you have so much faith that you perform miracles in Jesus' name, can you go to hell?

3. If you believe Jesus is Lord but do not do good to your neighbour, can you enter heaven?

4. A person is justified by WORKS, not by FAITH ALONE. Yes or No?
Its wisdom to know when to quit a discussion, especially when its obviously headed nowhere.

Sir, you need to actually carefully study James 2, from whence you have taken your first question. Apostle James was discussing various kinds of faith.

As for your third question, according to Gal 5:21-22, one of the fruits of a Christian is GOODNESS. A Christian cannot not do good; its his nature to do good. We have the Spirit of Christ. Christ went about doing good; we must also do good.

As for your fourth question, i say NO......No man can be justified by works; his works are dirty before God. No good resides in a man who is unregenerated.

If you still hold on to your opinion of justification by faith+works, then you need to discuss it with your pastors in your local assembly.

I have done the little i can to enlighten you on this issue.

Besides you are no position to calling a fellow Christian a Pharisee.......

Always remember that any Christian who believes in Christ Jesus but does not fulfill the ten commandment is HELL BOUND. Rom 3v31 says: "Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary we establish the law". Also, Rom 6v15 says: "What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
Those who have the indwelling Holy Spirit CANNOT deliberately make a practice of sin.
Those who are led by the Holy Spirit do not only keep the physical law, they also keep the spiritual law. The spiritual law is higher than the physical law.
The physical law, for instance, only condemns the physical act of adultery; it cannot condemn the thought of adultery.
However, the spiritual law even forbids the thought of adultery.
The spiritual life is a higher life; higher than the mosaic or physical law.

Prayer is a good work...and the good thief prayed. It was all he had the opportunity to do on the cross.

God doesn't judge a person unfairly. His ordinary way of saving is through Christ but he wont send a good Bhuddist who never heard of Christ to hell just because hes not a Christian. God is not like you pentecostals.

I believe all the verses you quoted. They dont contradict my view. I believe we are saved by grace through faith. But nowhere do the verses say we are saved through faith alone.

Now that I have answered you, can you answer these?

1. If you have faith, and no works, can that faith save you?

2. If you have so much faith that you perform miracles in Jesus' name, can you go to hell?

Now you're saying it wasn't the Holy Spirit that inspired Romans 2?

Ehn, pastor olodo?!

And you still are too dishonest to answer whether believers who do bad are heaven-bound while non-believers who are good are hell-bound!

My brother, anyone that deliberately makes a practice is not a Christian. If they don't repent and walk in holiness, then they are bound for hell.

Non-believers who do good can't make it to heaven, because at best, their good works are as filthy as rags. Except a man be born again, he CANNOT see the Kingdom of God. Jn 3.3.

I understand the mystery of redemption more than you.

I agree with practically all you said, except that, not just faith is needed for salvation but FAITH AND GOOD WORKS...as attested to by countless passages in the Bible.

Do you agree?

Yes or no?
I vehemently disagree.

For by grace are ye saved through faith: and thatnot of yyourselves: it is the gift of God.
Not of WORKS lest any man should boast. Ephe 2:8-9.

Being justified by FAITH, we have peace with God through Jesus Christ. Rom 5.1.

It is the good works we do after faith that are acceptable unto God, not before.

You can't work with a company till you are gainfully employed by it. Faith is the ID card with which you can pass through the company's gate and get access. Thereafter, your works can be appraised by the company.

In closing, tell me the good works done by the thief on the Cross that granted him paradise!

If this brief explanation isn't clear to you, then there's nothing anyone else or I can do about your opinion.

I should be asking you.

Since Christ has atoned for their sins, why did Peter have to preach to them?
Obviously, you either don't understand the mystery of redemption or you're simply being sarcastic.

The death and resurrection of Christ paved the way for our salvation, but faith in Him is required if we must enjoy this redemption. These are issues that are taught in the first few days after conversion.

Cornelius was accepted in the beloved due to the finished work of Christ on the cross. Peter had to show him the way of faith so he could appropriate his redemption blessings.

Have a great service today. It's being nice talking with you. Our ultimate purpose is to be prepared for His eventually return.

Shalom.

And all those who believe in Jesus are heaven bound, even ignore the plight of their neighbour, like the goats in Matt 25:31-46?

Your doctrine is from SATAN!
No amount of good works can atone for the sins of man; only Christ could do that. He has already done that!

Why did God send Apostle Peter to bring the Gospel of Christ to Cornelius even after Cornelius prayers and almsgiving were approved of by God?

Thanks for this article. Many people have actually misapplied and misunderstood what holiness means. Holiness simply means being led by the Holy Spirit. It means allowing the Holy Spirit apply the Word of God to our lives.
Holiness goes beyond the innocent walk and talk.
OP, I had to leave my former place of worship when pastors there replaced God's Word with their own ordinances and patterns. It was so cumbersome I started living a mechanical Christian life, soaked with the stress of pleasing people. The man made bondage was unbearable. I was literally walking in the law.
After many years of internal struggle, I prayerfully left. Today I worship God in liberty. I thank God for that bold step.

Christianity Etc › The Ember Months by dein77(op): 10:07am On Oct 11, 2014
There aren't any special demons assigned with the task of destroying extra lives during the EMBER months. The devil destroys lives everyday.
However, the Lord's mighty protective power isn't any diminished during this same season. He's ever more than capable to keep His own.
Accidents increase during every festive period due to mainly increased movements of people and vehicles. The impatience of drivers, plus our deplorable roads, also contribute to this.
We have been repeatedly told by our people that there are blood-sucking demons on the highway as we travel. What they haven't told is that there are also righteous angels on guard on the highway. Whatever gets your attention, gets yourlife.
If anything, we should praise God more for keeping us all through the previous months. We should engage in thanksgiving for the year ahead. He will SURELY protect His own people.
Let's not magnify the office of the devil and his cohorts with undue attention. Let's focus more on God.
Let's worship Him Who have guaranteed our lives. Let's bless Him continually.
As we do so, He will perfect everything that concerns us.
Whatever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. I Jn 5.4.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you than he that's in the world. I Jn 4.4
As we travel this season, let's know there are angels sent on errand to protect our lives and properties.
There's nothing special about the EMBER months. Period.

Christianity Etc › Perseverance:A Lesson From The Chinese Bamboo Tree. by dein77(op): 5:13pm On Oct 10, 2014
We can glean a few lessons from the Chinese bamboo tree.
Like every other tree, it must be watered regularly. But unlike most trees, it doesn't start sprouting any time soon.
As a matter of fact, in the first year, no matter the care and attention given to the tree by the farmer, it doesn't show any outward growth. Not an inch.
The farmer must continue to irrigate and care for the bamboo tree for a second year. Once again, nothing visible to show in terms of growth.
This frustration must be borne for FOUR consecutive years. Imagine four whole years of hard work and not having anything visible to show. Its indeed frustrating.
Then in the fifth year, there's a huge miracle:the Chinese bamboo tree grows to more than 90 feet within a period of six weeks. Just imagine the joy and fulfilment of the farmer! At last there something huge to show for his four years of hard work.
Did you think the bamboo tree actually started growing in the fifth year? No. It started growing in the first year. All through these four years, the Chinese bamboo tree was actually growing underneath and spreading it's enormous roots into the depths of the soil so it will be able to firmly carry and support its gigantic structure that will emerge within a period of six weeks in the fifth year.
So it is with us. We may have toiled for some years without anything visible to show for these years. We may become disgruntled and frustrated like the Chinese bamboo tree farmer. We may even be considering giving up on that business, marriage, ministry, academic pursuit, profession, etc. But we must hold on. We must persevere. We must keep toiling. We must keep loving. We must keep giving. We must keep studying. We must not give in. We must keep trying.
If we persist, like the Chinese bamboo tree farmer in the fifth year, we shall rejoice and reap the tremendous harvests from years of hard work and patience.
God bless us all.
Thanks for viewing.

Yes. Words are seeds. It's a matter of time before we harvest them. Nature has the ability to furnish us with the results of our words.
Back in higher institution, I told myself and my colleagues I wouldn't look for a job for a long period after graduating. I said those words repeatedly till they sank into my subconscious.
My classmates laughed me to scorn. They gave reasons why it wasn't going to work that.
It worked the way.
I got a good job.
Let's only confess what we want should happen to us.

Sometimes it may take days, weeks or even years before one reaps the benefit of their giving.
Most times the benefits don't come in the same channel with which we gave. But if we give cheerfully, we must reap a reward.
This time, my reward came very quick.
I took a bike from FUTO to Obinze junction. I was supposed to pay the guy N200. As we journeyed I realised he was dangerously over speeding. I cautioned him. I was the only passenger.
He told me he was in a hurry to make N10000 to have his family discharged from the hospital. His wife had delivered a baby boy.
I believed him. I then directed him to an ECO BANK ATM where I withdrew and handed over 6K to him. He already had 4K. The guy thought he had seen an angel. He thanked me and kept looking at me as I crossed the express and took a bus to PH. That was around 3 pm.
The very next day, around 8 am, a senior colleague of mine.gave me N10000.
I couldn't believe my eyes as I experienced this quick reward.
I told my senior colleague what transpired the previous day.
Indeed, if we give cheerfully, we must reap a reward. It's a law.
U may share yours, if any.
This is an indelible experience.
Christianity Etc › Re: Question Of The Day:- Are Nigerians Truly Religious Or Mere Pretenders? by dein77(m): 8:08pm On Oct 06, 2014
Majority of us are mere pretenders.
Religion serves as temporal escape from the harsh economic realities occasioned on us as a result of decades of misrule and bad government.
What more can be responsible for the terrible situation our nation?
On Sundays, almost everyone has gone to Church, and then from Monday to Saturday the society returns to its evil.
We still have true believers, though.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Religion Our Main Reason For Being backward in Africa? by dein77(m): 7:39pm On Oct 06, 2014
Actually, the misapplication of religion, and not religion, is the main reason Africa is backward.
Our version of religion banishes critical thinking, human responsibility, vision, personal commitment, hard work and passion for life.
We foolishly assume and believe God will.come down to address our myriads of problems while God Himself had placed us here to be problem solvers.
The brains of most Nigerians are disengaged the moment God or Satan is mentioned in a sentence.
We are responsible for our backwardness.
The most religious nations are the least developed because such societies have abandoned the ethics of human accountability and responsibilities.
It's dumb to ask God to solve problems He has equipped us with faculties and resources to solve.
Jesus, instead of rolling away the stone covering Lazarus tomb, asked men to roll it away cos He knew they could do that aspect.
Here in Nigeria, religion is really a threat to development and progress.
Apart from religion, I also believe blacks aren't really mentally strong as the Whites. We don't think far beyond our stomach and bank accounts.
Man was created to think. Nature abhors vacuum. We are a lazy people.
Religion is a consolation for the Africans.
God didn't build the US. He didn't build Dubai.
He didn't build Europe.
He won't build Africa.
We must apply religion properly.

It's not sinful to save a life via blood transfusion. I had lost two young acquaintances to preventable untimely deaths because they both allegedly resisted blood transfusion.
I'm not here to argue with anyone; I just want to drop my points.
Drinking blood and blood transfusion are two different things.
Blood transfusion isn't sin. Even if it were, in the case of an emergency, I would prefer to commit that sin and save a human life than allow a person to die while claiming to serve God.
I thank God because He isn't callous, but has high esteem for His created beings.
God doesn't set up His creatures to fail.
Why didn't He create every individual with their own peculiar blood group?
JWs should quit trying to fulfil all the laws. No man can actually fulfil the laws. Even if you meet the physical aspect of the law, there's still the spiritual aspect the carnal man can NEVER fulfil.

I avoid unnecessary discussions with JWS, because they are not Christians.
JWS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS. They practise a different religion.
If they like let them receive or reject blood transfusion. It's their call.
