Christianity EtcRe: What's Your Favourite Christian Hymn? Drop A Stanza by dein77(op): 6:57pm On Oct 27, 2014
asudan:
Christian seek not ye repose,
Hear thy guardian angel say:
"Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and Pray
Wow. It's one of my favourites. Let me drop a stanza for you:

Principalities and powers,
Mustering their unseen array;
Wait for thy unguarded hour
Watch and pray.

May God help us to be watchful and prayerful.

Was it a sin when Jesus provided alcohol at the Cana wedding?

Was it a sin when early Christians were drinking alcohol, like us, during Holy Mass? 1Cor11:21

Was it a sin when Jesus drank alcohol (Matt 11:19)?

What about Paul telling Timothy to drink alcohol (1Tim5:23)?

Humble yourself and quit that heresy that only has lies, half truths and contradictions to offer.
My grouse with most you here is, while most of you are well versed in the Scriptures, you lack the humility and patience to expound and explain an issue clearly troubling a fellow brother.

A lot of contributions have been made but only tiny few have been.able to address this issue I have raised.

I won't because he is still my father, And the bible says I should honour him. But anytime he sends me on such errand, i will always make it known to him that he is doing something wrong
I practically left when the whole thing was becoming too mechanical. The emphasis on avoidance of sin only led to the opposite.

Thanks for your input. Shalom!
Christianity EtcWhat's Your Favourite Christian Hymn? Drop A Stanza by dein77(op): 1:08pm On Oct 27, 2014
I have scores of beautiful Christian Hymns, but none comes near this: MY FAITH HAS FOUND A RESTING PLACE.

See a stanza:

My faith has found a resting place
Not in device or creed;
I trust the ever-living One
His wound for me shall plead.

Chorus:

I need no other argument,
I need no other plea;
It us enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

It bring tears to my eyes. It reminds me of Christ's complete and and finished sacrifice for me at Calvary.

Pls drop yours. Hymns have their special place in worship. Shalom!

I strongly believe God hates self-justification. Its a form of arrogance... Its one thing for someone to be self-servicing but doesnt feel its right. Its another thing to claim that it doesnt matter.. Those who belong to the latter class arevery dangerous. The letters of Pa repeatedly warn against Fornication/Adultery.. Anyone guilty of self-servicing definitely has thoughts of fornication/adultery in mind while in the act.. Such people should stop it and repent, instead of claiming it doesnt matter.. I wonder what on earth would make a ''pastor'' claim self-service isnt a sin.
Thank you. You're blessed indeed.

There's a way that seemeth right to a man; but the end is destruction.

Envy? How? Those Apostles were thoroughly dead to sin and alive to God. Only spiritual babes envy one another.

As for Apostle Paul, He was given a special kind of grace and unction. A thorough study of his epistles will reveal his purpose and calling.

You're welcome sir. Let nobody deceive you. Self service is leaving the natural use of the body, and devising an unnatural use. It's a short cut that will prove too long in the long run .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Masturbation Really A Sin? by dein77(m): 8:50pm On Oct 26, 2014
It's a terrible sin. Don't you feel guilty after the act? What kind of thoughts pervade your mind as you engage in this act? Pure or dirty thoughts?

Bro, let's be careful. All things are expedient, but I won't be brought under the control of anything- Apostle Paul.

My point is, quit calling what God didn't call sin a sin.
Level of Biblical understanding and maturity differs. It's better when you settle down to reply questions that trouble other.

I'm more confused now than before I created this thread.
Christianity EtcRe: Are We All Going To Hell For Not Keeping Saturday Holy? by dein77(m): 6:55pm On Oct 26, 2014
There's nothing wrong or right about keeping the Sabbath. A thorough study of Romans 15 will clear this up. Keeping or not keeping the Sabbath has NO eternal consequences whatsoever.

Whatever day you worship God matters not anything. Worshipping Him in spirit and truth is what matters.

Christianity EtcRe: Many Churches Are Still Following The Law Of Moses. by dein77(m): 6:45pm On Oct 26, 2014
olire:
So... Are u trying to say the ten commandments is the law of Moses?
Of course. I so disagreed till I had a deeper understanding of the grace we have been afforded.

Actually when God gave those 10 . commandments to the Jews, we were the Hittites, Jebusites, Amorites, etc. Those commandments were given to the Jews to guard and keep them from evil, so God wouldn't destroy them.

However, Christ has reconciled and grafted us into Him, through His death on the Calvary.

As we become one with Christ, we operate in a plane higher than the law realm. Once instance, the law only condemns the physical act of adultery; it cannot condemn the thought of it. But in Christ, we don't only commit murder; we aren't even allowed to think. The same principle applies to all and every sin.

Health wise, it's something bad, putting his lungs, kidney and heart in danger not to now talk of it biblically which is a sin. Let him know the effect of it to his health maybe you could convice him. You should also support it telling him that God also detests it. It is well with you.
Thanks. In the meanwhile will you refuse his errand?

Before I answer you, do you mind telling us why Christ or any of the Apostles condemn drinking alcohol?
For obvious reasons: our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and drunkenness leads to other sins.

Sin consciousness sees sin virtually in everything in life. You, who have been made whole by the blood of Christ still think touching a pack of cigarettes will make you unclean. Isn't that ridiculous? But it can become a sin depending on your understanding. ...for whatever is not of faith is sin.
If your dad asks you to buy him alcohol, will you?

I love APOSTLE PAUL. Why?

"Do you know that in a race all the runners run, only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."

1 Cor. 9:24 - 27

No one has mentioned mine from the beginning of this thread to this point, and he is Jonah. My life is just like his, refusing to heed Jehovah's instruction but His loving kindness with me made me return to Him to do the right thing and I'm forever grateful for a second chance. Preaching the good news of Gods kingdom is my sole aim from now on.
I'm so happy to read this. A vast majority of us have similar stories. I pray He upholds you to the end.

My favourite bible character has to be Apostle Paul. I love his humility and his readiness at all times to recgonise and admit that he is NOTHING without the grace of God. He was always ready to tell whoever he writes to that without grace we are NOTHING, that we owe all our existence and accolades to the grace of God. From our salavation to our prosperity. I call him Apostle Grace Paul. He has made me to so much fall in love with the word.
Dear, Apostle Paul na bomb! I roamed fruitlessly for more than a decade till I carefully read his epistles. Once I did, my life never remained the same.

He si my hero.
Christianity EtcWhy Did God Destroy Sodom And Gomorrah? by dein77(op): 3:21pm On Oct 26, 2014

Christianity EtcRe: Who Is Your Favorite Bible Character And Why? by dein77(m): 1:43pm On Oct 26, 2014
My favourite Bible character is Apostle Paul. His epistles actually liberated me from the chains and manacles of religion. His passion and eventual martyrdom encourages me to give my best to God and His service.

Apostle Paul's history is epic. His defense before King Agrippa and Governor Felix brings tears to my eyes whenever I read it.

He was a man who knew his calling, and paid the ultimate price to secure his eternal salvation.

His epistles are my favourites in the Bible.

Pls do rejoice with us as we celebrate the 5th Anniversary of our wedding.

Exactly five years ago, I took a bold step, and tied the love knot with my beloved wife.

We have been blessed with a boy and a girl, and we thank God for His gifts.

I must admit it has been a journey filled with both joy and occasional challenges. It's been a journey of continuous learning.

All and all, it's been a wonderful togetherness.

Pls give us your good wishes and goodwill messages.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do People Get Scared Of Ember Months by dein77(m): 7:20pm On Oct 25, 2014
The fear for ember months is as a result of decades of misinformation and manipulation. I wrote a similar post a few weeks ago. There's nothing actually sinister about them. We have been fed with wrong information right from our youths.

There is no reason whatsoever why people, especially Christians, should be afraid of the ember months.
