XerXers:Thanks. Some cultural difference then. I don't think SW egunguns perform outside their locality. |
Okortor:From the Yoruba cultural perspective, masquerades are spirit beings (ara orun). Their history and actions are rooted in the beliefs and traditions of their localities. They don't go beyond their areas even within the cities in some cases. |
It will be absurd to see Ololu masquerade from Ibadan or Agemo from Ijebu parading in Lagos. Sounds very strange for an ancestral spirit. Masquerades are localised to the best of my knowledge. I've never heard of a masquerade going to another town on a visit. |
Why are people so hell bent on extreme insults and tribal wars? You can disagree without insulting people. Terrible era this is. 😓 |
Isn't he the one in trouble with the British authorities as I read elsewhere? 🤔 |
I look back and remember that Nigeria put in so much effort to bring freedom to the SA nations. We, as students then were so sympathetic to their cause and wholeheartedly welcomed them here. They got scholarships from secondary to tertiary education and a lot more. Then came OBJs nationalisation of British companies just to put pressure on UK. I remember a discussion we had with someone who took part in the protests then and narrowly escaped the Soweto killings. Hmmm....many stories but the summary was our resolute stance against apartheid. Yet, no appreciation. The hatred is so deep sadly. Even in West Africa, we were our brothers keeper through ECOMOG. Our years of great glory. May our nation rise and shine brightly again. Amen |
Ringstonermasks:Assume that your wife is not in the military and be more wary of getting into trouble like the majority who have no one to run to. If you avoid getting into bad situations, no one will have cause to laugh at you. Disciplined officers don't get involved in civil cases which is under the control of the Police and Civil Defence. Let her be focused on her primary duty of protecting our nation from external aggression. Hope you didn't marry her so you can use her to oppress others. It's wise to teach your child to stand up to bullies or report as deemed appropriate in school or elsewhere. |
Shikena:Honestly, it's so amazing that supposedly educated people just follow the crowd without reading well to seek knowledge. |
VAT is paid by the consumer which is part of what the tax reform is trying to property establish. PAYE is paid wherever the employees reside. Oil company staff working in Bayelsa should pay to Bayelsa while those in Lagos headquarters pay to Lagos. |
Probably they're grossly overstaffed. Maybe NNPC should look inwards for cost saving measures too. I wonder if the staff in their unproductive refineries are still earning huge salaries. |
@OP How do you plan to look after your girlfriend and your baby without a job? Do you plan to marry soon and will they join you in your parent's house? You don't seem to have a future plan that they can see. That's why they're offering you an option which they consider reasonable. You can't depend on your parents forever. Mum is only trying to wean you off her breast. Just joking but it's time to decide on the way forward. |
SirLakes:Maybe you didn't follow up. The names of the officials involved and what they did were disclosed. Bobrisky was only given privileges in prison, some of which were found to be out of order. In-house disciplinary action would have followed. Anyway, let's be thankful for this hard working Minister. He's not perfect but he's several shades better than many others. |
@OP God bless your home more. Joy, love, peace, fruitfulness, prosperity will never depart from your home. Amazing grace and divine favor always. |
Issokay, but what happens to their surviving victims who are now in IDP camps or totally frustrated and hopeless having lost all that they have to them? Let's be fair to all parties for true reconciliation and progress. |
SayAsSeen:Have you considered the fact that there'll be other expenses during the month? Plus there's no soup ingredient (pepper, meat etc) in that picture. Also yam, plantain, eggs, veggies etc. She'll still buy those, I think. You've tried as a responsible husband but things are so expensive. Most reasonable women add their money to be able to buy more things for the home. Only foolish women will spend money that they should spend on their family on personal frivolities. |
sweerychick:Good analysis. It could be vegetable oil in the keg. 5 litre keg may be about 18k ( I'm not sure of the current price). |
Terrible era indeed! Glad that there's relative freedom today. |
People give themselves a lot of headache over issues that shouldn't be worth their while! |
Air Nigeria comes to mind... hmmm! |
There are many billionnaires in the North who can singlehandedly provide all that they need. What is the responsibility of their State Government? It seems to be a general request for funds though. We need to focus on making governance work positively for us. |
May cultism and drugs not ruin our thriving music industry. Amen. |
@OP Don't judge your dad. That's God's business. Bless both parents as much as possible. God will surely bless you much more. |
Originalsly:Wow! I didn't know that the matter is this deep. Very sad about the children especially. 😢 |
Hmm! I hope this is not like another Nigeria Airways scenario. |
Struck out because he didn't send the Ozurumba guy to sue on his behalf. |
Nothing new. It was embraced briefly during the OBJ and/or GEJ era. We can also explore making bread from other local grains like fonio and millet. |
Erimmy2:Try to visit any Federal Mortgage Bank or registered private mortgage institution in your locality to avoid falling victim to fraudsters. |
I hope she'll go back to school as she said in another interview. Education is not a scam afterall. Her illiteracy and ignorance/ lack of exposure affected her greatly. |
Aworis are from Ile Ife. History is clear on that. Eguns are a sub group of Yorubas like some others in Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and Sierra Leone. |
He's entitled to his opinion. |
Wise move! History taught us that the artefacts belonged to the palace. I wonder why Obaseki was trying to create another home for the artefacts even after FG had intervened. |
I wonder why the payment of tithe is always trending for the wrong reasons. It's not compulsory to pay. It's a matter of individual faith and belief. |
