If they're truly in Fashola, the earlier they're dislodged, the better. That is supposed to be a farming cum agric-industrial zone. Bandits in that location spells doom for progress. The Oyo-Ogbomoso- Oke Ogun axis will also not be safe.

Hope that's not the reason why we're having all kinds of Alfas preaching extremism in the SW lately. That's how it usually starts...BH/ISWAP for instance. Seyi Makinde should focus on a solution as a matter of urgency.

The current governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde is married to a lady from Rivers State. Gov. Adeleke is married to Ngozi. It's nothing new. Maybe they have other reasons.

Good for him. He should do his due diligence well this time with regards to the beach front. All lands by the sea belongs to FG though it can be jointly administered with the states.

That's the root of the problem of what happened to Landmark in Lagos. FG simply reclaimed their land. The main Landmark structures which is on LASG land were not touched.

Great pity! I don't see why it has taken so long for them to be considered for bail.

Kind hearted people who were only trying to do their bit to help people. Oore niwon indeed. One has to be careful in these hard times.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

I don't understand. I think we should be talking about the Eastern line to the North, the Itakpe -Abuja line and the extension of Lagos -Ibadan to Abuja.

What is left to be done on the Lagos -Ibadan route? Maybe maintenance 🤔

Very sad situation indeed. Probably State Police will do a better job like Amotekun has made a difference in the South West by having a presence in most communities. The armed forces and Federal Police can't be everywhere.

Politics › Re: Lakurawa Kills 2 Policemen, Rustle Over 200 Cows In Kebbi by delpee(f): 10:10pm On Jan 04, 2025
Luu40:
It's true. I'm a resident of Argungu and the incident occurred on the outskirts of Argungu town on a roadside village Natsini. However, the news only made reference to the ranch owned by Lauwali Black, there are other Fulani settlers not very far from Natsini where many cattle were also rustled. I heard of one Ladan who lost about 300 cattle to them, and many smaller herders.

The gunmen, according to what we heard gathered at a village market in Bagiza that day, everyone saw them going abouy their normal life carrying their Kalashnikovs. It was later in the night - some minutes before 10:00pm that they killed two police officers manning a checkpoint, one civilian and then raided the ranch belonging to Lauwali Black.

The Lakurawa are still here, any news claiming the group has been completely decimated has now been proved otherwise. May God help us all.

Things are not good.
Great pity! The security agencies should have been informed of their presence during the day. I don't understand how the people feel comfortable having armed bandits in their midst. Information is what can help the military plan and respond better.

You have a point. Just checked and saw 80 buses. But I remember the BRT services began to dip around 2017 way before that crisis. Same zero maintenance. I wonder how some of these buses fell into the hands of local drivers, especially that ikorodu-oshodi route.
I believe it's been 4 years, so LASG can't use that as an excuse. They simply failed to build on what BRF did. Based on population, transportation is still a major challenge in Lagos. I'm a big fan of this rail system. Excellent reviews! But I still think the focus should be on our roads and rail should be left for interstate and selected local routes. Rail is expensive and might take decades to actualize. My opinion.
True but I think BOS chose to focus more on the rail system for now. Remember that Ambode abandoned the rail project in his time. The long term plan (as I read online), is for proper interconnectivity for all modes of transportation. That's why new interchanges are being built. BRT buses will be linked to the rail stations as well as minibuses and boats where applicable. Let's pray for the actualization of the project without further delays. New BRT buses will surely follow as a matter of necessity. .
Politics › Re: Ex-liberia President, Charles Tailor Openly Blast Obasanjo (video) by delpee(f): 3:38pm On Jan 04, 2025
OBJ did the right thing in Taylors case. I remember the story very well.

Nigeria spent so much on ECOMOG because there was no peace in Sierra Leone and Liberia all because of Charles Taylor, Samuel Doe, Yormie Johnson and a few others. Taking him and others out of the picture stabilised the region.
Politics › Re: Falana: Why Yar’adua Cancelled Sale Of Port Harcourt Refinery To Dangote by delpee(f): 3:35pm On Jan 04, 2025
What has been spent on the refinery over the years from the Yaradua period shows that selling it off at that time may have been better.

I think obj was sincerely trying to defend his decision...

To sell the refinery. Which was based on the expert advice he had at the time.

Yaradua should be commended though for reversal of that decision. (I think he reversed because he felt they were sold too cheap and not necessarily because it was a bad decision)

Even though by now it's likely; if obj's plan had worked then Nigeria would have started benefitting from the working of the refineries a long time ago. And so much money which might have been used for other things might not have been embelzed!
Yes, but if it's true that we've spent 2billion dollars thus far, I wonder if it's worth the trouble. Also, the price of fuel isn't so positively affected considering that the argument for high cost was based on importation.

Let's pray that we won't be carrying out TAM soon. Maintenence is where the problem lies. OBJ may have his issues but I think he meant well for the nation.

Stealing or robbery? Why is it so hard to report this story correctly? If you guys believe robbery shouldn't carry a capital punishment that's fine. Just don't lie about the nature of the crime.
I read the full story elsewhere. According to that report, the issue is that those who were caught initially confessed and confirmed that this guy and the other one jailed were not involved. His problem was lack of funds to "settle". His dad was asked to pay 30k but he could only raise 20k. The culprits were released while he was tried and jailed.

Fashola really tried with that BRT stuff. It is shameful sanwo olu failed to build on that legacy. Road transportation is still the most preferred and accessible means of transport. Who train epp?
You forgot that many newly bought BRT buses were burnt during EndSars. Let's hope that the planned expansion of rail services takes root and it's delivered on schedule.

Many will come back when they're much older or be partially resident here. At this point in time, they want places that give them better opportunities to grow and stabilise. That's not so easy for everyone here right now.

It's tough on parents and family relationships though. I feel the mother's pain.

I wish it's truly that simple. It often starts like that. Later non Muslims get harrassed or tried for blasphemy, alcohol drinking, improper dressing etc. Extra judicial killing comes into play. Remember Deborah, Akaluka etc

U're deceiving urself my friend. Is it in Lagos u want to enact Sharia law? I can bet you that to make it work u need the legislative work of the houses of state assemblies but trust me it won't see the light of the day. The Muslim Yorubas will stand against it, we're not regious fanatics, we're liberal religious tribe in the country so it won't work
I think Lagos has 2 Shariah administrative panels, one in Agege and another in 1004 estate. Probably, they've not been so active or well patronised. More people patronise the Customary Courts and Magistrate/High courts.

Over indulgent mum will soon start complaining when her child feels entitled to everything she sees and wants. Children learn more by sight than by what you say. He'll expect this and more as he grows.

Bringing up children is no tea party. Sentiments and "I'll show them" mentality can prove disastrous in the long run.

You can't imagine the extent of giving done by Dr Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo over the years not to mention what the various parishes have done to impact lives. People don't need to shout about everything that they do. God sees all and rewards all. Do your bit.
