Jonathan Promises To Implement National Conference Recommendations, Sets Up Implementation Committee niyi October 2, 2014
The recommendations in the report submitted by the National Conference following months of deliberations will be fully implemented, President Goodluck Jonathan has promised.
“Every promise I make, God willing, I will see to its fulfilment. I assure you, we shall implement the report,” said Jonathan in his independence day broadcast on Wednesday.
“We have successfully delivered on that promise as we established the 2014 National Conference headed by Justice Legbo Kutigi. After months of deliberations, which did not come without its challenges, the conference concluded its assignment and has handed its Report to me.
The president has already shown commitment to implementing the report by setting up a Ministerial Committee saddled with the responsibility of working out the modalities for implementing the Report. The committee is headed by Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke
http://www.informationng.com/2014/10/jonathan-promises-to-implement-national-conference-recommendations-sets-up-implementation-committee.html So, Jona organized his conference, he had his conference, he was given conference report and he set up his implementation committee to make it happen. Tinubu's objection or reservations didn't stop the conference from going on, it was conducted and useless and incompetent jona promised to implement and as usual, the useless otuoke joker didn't do shit. Te question now is, what's Tinubu got to do with all this? The ipobitch albino village clown must be high on sulfuric akpu. |

First, government must devise a system by which it can deal with the issues that readily confront the Nigerian State and also the constituting ethnic nationalities. This is fundamental.
Equally, there can be no short cuts if Nigeria is to be liberated from its present quagmire. Here is a prescription:
1. Overhaul Government-get competent and knowledgeable in key positions to conceive and execute dynamic policies
2. Diversify the economy, revitalize agriculture to create jobs and create wealth
3. Combat corruption by plugging loopholes and government wastages
4. Provide adequate energy to power homes, industries and businesses
5. Subscribe to the rule of law and ensure there is justice for all and not just a few
6. Fiscal/true federalism must be practiced in all ramifications. These suggestions are by no means exhaustive, but Nigeria must first confront the known demons that have held it back. -Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. |

BabaO2: Ibos with their mischievous ways of life and irresponsible talks. How could a reasonable person have supported a mere conference that was originally designed to elongate incompetent Jonathan's term. This Nnamdi kanu is a pure silly imbeci-le, where was the conference named sovereign? Guess he doesn't understand the difference Secondly, this government should implement the Uwais recommendations on electoral reforms. That report was the work of imminent Nigerians and it was done after widespread consultations to constituencies far and wide. We all know that our electoral system is broken and unfair. If the President has done nothing to fully implement this corrective report that would fix a system so blatantly broken, why would he implement recommendations of national conference if those recommendations do not suit his narrow purposes? The government should first implement this important work in order to demonstrate to Nigerians that it can hold and honour the outcome of a National dialogue.

Blue3k: Just to add 2 cents sense I been reading a bit. (In coming Captain obvious statements) resources aren't bad the could be jumping off point for industrial development and assist. Let's look st Australia for example the have huge mineral reserves and make ton of cash on it. The thing the do different from African is that they also have diversified economy with productive citezens outside of the resources in ground.
The resource curse only happens when the mineral resources outmatch significantly productivity of citizens. As long as the state doesn't try and run business abd just wants to exploit productivity of citezens the place will be pretty pleasant. I always use Texas example too shoW that it's not oil that cursed Nigeria it was crazy polices. Did Texas stop farming, manufacturing and other actives after oil no. You are right. I know a lot about TEXAS. |
Politics › Re: Draft Of The Oodua Region Yoruba Constitution by deomelo: 6:09pm On Jul 03, 2017 |
This is why I'm for total separation or full blown regionalism.
Look at the SW before and during regionalism, we achieved so much before and during regional administration and our potentials, human and natural benefited us immensely without oil and even before Nigeria as a country, but the end of regionalism and unitary system when power left the regions and moved to the center stopped our growth and advancement, all because we stopped making our own decisions based on our visions, ideas and our resources, the FG/central government decides for us and also dictates our growth, we have to beg people from other parts of support, votes and resources which we don't get most of the time simply because they hate, don't share our interest or just because of pure envy.
Good example.
When Fashola was the governor of Lagos state, he was able to set his vision in motion, call his own shot, secure funding from his own lawmakers from his own state with the same collective vision and goals to build the Lekki Ikoyi bridge which today is the best bridge in Nigeria, but same is not the case today regarding the 2nd NB because support, approval and funds must be secured from too many people from different states with different interests based on ethnicity, corruption and incompetence so the faith of that bridge remains in limbo.
Even the people from the SE and main beneficiaries supported the lawmakers for frustrating and slashing the budget for the bridge. Very baffling I must say.
Our association with people with little or no vision, people with shallow and shortsighted views and people with tribal and ethnic reasoning dragged us back considerable.
Look at the first Metro rail system initiated by Jakande, our collective association federally killed that project because once again, funding approval and support was denied by people with basement vision, tribal mentality at the federal level.
Look at the first IPP in Nigeria initiated and built by Tinubu. The understanding was that every MW generated shall remain in Lagos state and won't be sent into the National grid, but again, the ugly federal side with totally different inept views, warped political and shortsighted interest sabotaged the project. The power plant is still operating and sending 271MW into the national grid, the people of Lagos are still paying for that power plant via allocation deductions. By now, Lagos should have many power plants with that first in Nigeria experiment, but that single act sabotage killed that dream.
Look at the issue of special status for Lagos state. It was voted down by people from outside Lagos and the SW by people with ethnic, tribal and political foolishness, it's like what's good for Lagos was bad for the country.
Federal association is an impediment, a setback and needless distraction.
We have everything we need to stand on our 2 feet and prosper.
We built so many firsts in Nigeria and Africa with our own local resources and without oil money, cocoa is the second largest export and earner after oil.
Lagos is the 5th largest economy in Africa and adding the rest of the SW means maybe the 2nd or 3rd in Africa.
We have oil, the SW is Africa's entertainment capital
The SW controls banking and finance
The SW is home to nearly all the major industries in Nigeria
Nearly all the foreign investments entering Nigeria ends up in the SW
Lagos is home to Yabacon, Nigeria's ICT capital.
In less than 2 years, the SW will commission the world's largest single refinery, Africa's largest petrochemical plant, fertilizer plant and gas plant.
The sky is really the limit for the SW, but federal association handicaps the SW, we should be gaining from this association, but we are not. |

StOla: Concerning a future Yoruba/Yoruboid country.
I will suggest a unitary republic where cities and towns have mayors for executive authority, but only one central government without artificial states. there should be no states/towns of origin classification.
People's origin should only be referred to based on where they live or were born, and should be the only franchise qualification for political participation.
Also a presidential political system ensures that both party and candidate have the majority support to assume office, and not a parliamentary case where an unpopular party leader rides on the success of his other popular party mates to assume a national leadership. The former is more expensive but more representative of the wishes of the electorate.
Under no condition must a Yoruba republic allow refugee incursions from the old East and North. Bilateral trade may be established for mutual benefits that proximity affords. But entry of old Nigeria into our new country must be well monitored to ensure due exit.
All trade must be done with a firm national mindset of economic security.
Lastly, corruption must be placed on the pedestal of concern it deserves. Coming from a rotten Nigeria, we would need to exorcise this vice from the national psyche, and promote a conscious work ethic in our youth. Law enforcement must be active and prompt but civil and above board. The Judiciary should be a positive departure from the clowns in cloak we have in the Nigerian courts.
No welfare state condition must be supported, rather government must be ready to help support the enterprise ideas of the citizens.
Lastly everyman should be a king. A country of equals who have same access to education, healthcare, justice, and employment/enterprise.
A country of patriotic citizens, different from a country of bitter victims that Nigeria nurtures. Very well stated. |

Legos developed before oil and before Nigeria as a country. Lagos is the 5th largest economy in Africa without oil. Lagos is already doing without your oil and Lagos's monthly IGR without allocation is more that all your oil rubbish states combined many times over.
