Some people stupidly believe that love conquers all, what they fail to release is that love can constrained or strangulated by many force along the journey. One of such forces is health challenges and discomfort it can bring and time and money it can consume. Seeing fire ahead and deliberately running into it because you believe in miracles amount to resting God. Many Christians have shot themselves in the foot for this mentality and they have suffered. |

folake4u: Love is all about sacrifice and the sacrifice your brother has to pay is to let the girl go. His future children will not forgive him for bringing them to the world for them to suffer the sickle cell anemia. Talk to your parents and your brother not to bring religion into this, inasmuch faith in God to perform miracle is key, some experiences are really not the best teacher. You're right. Many churches don't permit or join such couples anymore unless the couple insist at their own risk. You don't tempt God because He does miracles, if God doesn't perform a miracle in your case you can't sue Him to any court. While there are cases of such marriage going to produce healthy children, the risk is too high and every Christian is not on the same level of faith nor grace mates. |

seunmsg: The truth is that the military cannot fully fight terrorism without pockets of human right violations. Terrorist dont care about human rights or rules of engagement when they attack, they deserve no good treatment.
Human right violation is not peculiar to Nigeria military alone. The US military severally violated the rights of Iraqis, Afghans etc in their war against terrorism. Trump himself is an advocate of waterboarding as a means of torturing terrorist suspect. The west should stop pontificating over what they are guilty of. This is true reality, without necessarily denying the military abuse in some cases the U.S. are hypocrites. How has violated human rights around the world more than the U.S Army and C.I.A? |

Feminists tend to accuse men of being controlling yet, that's what they themselves do to other women. They are control freaks who are only just seeking attention and when Chimamamda gets home she 'll run to embrace her husband for a kiss. Her achievement and fame is getting into head and very soon she 'l meet her match and gets embarr assed. |

That’s what’s all this about to show off to the baby daddy who is crying himself to sleep each night How did you come to the conclusion that he downgraded after leaving her? It's highly possible the other way round. Many times women make this accusations to get sympathy from fellow unsuspecting and sentimental women. She won't tell you how she hid and kept the child from his father just to frustrate him until the man got fed up and moved on with someone else. |

The poor guy only discovered fews later that she had 3 children and the only one she admitted to having was already married and have a child. My friend was 42, never been married, no kids. MissJoy29: These are my opinions about feminism; *Strive for fairness especially in the way women are treated in marriage. For instance, it's not set in stone that a woman should be the only one doing house chores. A man can help out too without his manliness reduced. On the other hand, a woman shouldn't take his helping for granted.
*Be independent to an extent as a lady. In the sense that you can have your own money and pay up your bills without having to depend on a man. Depending on a man has levels. It gets really irritating seeing mature ladies begging for everything from a guy. A man that wants to help can help but don't beg.
*There's nothing wrong in helping out a man financially. There's nothing wrong in buying gifts for a man. There's nothing wrong in pampering a man & surprising him once in a while. But use your head. "Using your head" could mean a lot of things & could also prevent a lot of things.
*Be strong and firm yet feminine. That's a woman's strongest weapon, her feminity. Be sweet and gentle and cute. Stop with the bitching & the bad attitude. That you can foot your bills doesn't mean you give oit that air that you don't need a man. Your independence should attract men to you not repel them.
*Finally, never look down on any man. Never broke-shame a guy because you think he's not up to a level you want. You see, no one knows tomorrow.
These being said, I am a feminist. The real one not the ones moved by hungry, frustrated leeches. You're very balanced thinker. Some hard-core feminists aka men haters will not appreciate or accept you for this. |

Names of people who has rocked or knocked down parker: None.

Joseph parker has never been rocked or knocked down in sparring, New Zealanders have chin of steel. I hope joshua wins sha, but I think it wouldn't be a knock out Shame on you |

Movingcoil: When a university is termed federal, what does that mean actually especially in Nigeria? I know federal government should be funding it but most of them make students pay excruciating fees even with the federal government subsidies. I noticed the schools are packed with 70% of the indigenes where it is located student and staff wise. What exactly made them federal schools? Am asking with UNN as a case study. The bolded is true federal universities in the Eastern, Western and Northern states. UNIBEN has always been an exception, you need to see UNIBEN and you 'll realise that it's the most truly Federalised University in Nigeria. The only recent change is in its staffing and leadership where the Edo people had to protest against the dominance of staff positions by staffs from other states while limited number of its indigenes work in a school located in their state and so for decades. Yoruba is basically the lingua franca in western states schools, Igbo is the case in eastern state schools. Uniben has everyone's language, English language in every imaginable variation and multiple Nig dialects. |

It's simply disparaging and an insult to the sensibility of economists in this forum. Notwithstanding, my point is.... I am not comparing America with Nigeria, I'm only trying to enlighten simple-minded people like you - that being indebted is not a negative economic pointer, neither is it positive; but we have so many advanced economies like America whose debt profile is as huge as their economy, yet yeilding fruitful economic returns. Like I said, only people who are well rooted in economic and financial activities will understand this. They are too ignorant and illiterate to understand such levels of economics. That's why anybody can stir them up easily by such post without enlisting the projects and developmental purposes that these debt are meant for. They'll attack and castigate you. |

influenz: I am an Igbo man. But I wont celebrate this.
Every nation usually have an ideology. This ideology is their driving force and it is what propels them as a nation for surmount all challenges that come their way.
While American political ideologies are variations on classical liberalism. As a result, these ideologies tend to be very similar: Almost everyone in the United States, for example, believes in limited government, the free market, and individual liberty, the British Empire was founded and maintained for purposes of trade and done so by private interest with the government providing support and encouragement where and when needed. The Swedish ruling party is Høyre. The party is committed to fiscal free market policies, including tax cuts and relatively little government involvement in the economy. It does, however, support the continued existence of the Norwegian welfare state.
But in our dear nation we have been talking about UNITY. Our ideology has been UNITY.
In Oct 2018, Nigeria will be 58 years. If this nation had been a butterfly, unfortunately we are still in eggs stage. We have not even hatched to the Larva stage.
It is true that these states produced the highest number of Medical Doctors. By the questions I will ask are
1. How many of them stay back to practice in NIgeria. 2. Most of these brilliant minds are subjected to be under so called graduates from educationally less developed states. Why? 3. After the hectic and arduous task of obtaining these degrees, what is the state of hospitals they will later work in?
My position is that we should not celebrate this. It is not an achievement because even the elites do not even appreciate the efforts of these students.
Why? You may ask. The case of our President and his son comes to mind. No Nigerian doctor is qualified to treat our elites. So why wasting our time? They wont fund our education.
WAY FORWARD
Let us all be involved. 2019 is by the way. Another avenue to exercise our franchise. How many youths on Nairaland have obtained their PVC? And if you have obtained, are ready to vote? Lets get our nation back.
Most of these our politicians have less than 20 years to live, but their actions can affect us for a century. 5 star salute to you Sir. |

Lots of jobs are more appreciated in certain climes that others. How much does a dishwashing job pay in Lagos with the kind rickety restaurants you have around? Does Tatalizers, KFC employ people as dishwashers solely? There are certain jobs that are not available where you are because of lack of entrepreneurship that boosts employment . |
