We should be thinking of the likes of Donald Duke.. |

Power was privatised by PDP govt to companies that have no capacity to generate and distribute....same companies treat Nigerians just as NEPA did. Why are blaming Fashola? Govt is no longer generating or distributing power but to provide them with enabling environments to function. But are they reciprocating govt and people's gesture? |
While the Olympics Football team of Nigeria for 1996 was called Dream Team came as a result of the quality of players of that age group available to Nigeria at that time. It's not because they were dreaming of Olympic gold. After all, it wasn't Nigeria's first participation in Olympics Football (1968 Olympics, Nig 3 vs 3 Brazil), Nigeria played in "1980 & 1988 Olympics too.) One of the best local coaches then, Willie Bazuaye was assigned to raise a quality U-23 team for Nigeria for the qualifiers. He started with mostly local players who almost stumbled after a goalless draw against Kenya in Lagos in 1995. Meanwhile, from the World Champion Golden Eaglets of Japan 1993, the generation of Kanu Nwankwo, Wilson Oruma, Celestine Babayaro at al, there were quality young players some of whom had already secured contracts in Europe, even the Super Eagles of Tunisia 1994, that won the AFCON, had the likes of Okocha, Taribo West, Oliseh, Dan Amokachie etc. football fans were dreaming of seeing these array of quality young players playing at the Olympics and a high chance of probability of good showing since most of them have been champions already. So, after that wobbly performance of the original U-23 team against Kenya, NFA was under pressure to bring in these players for the return leg in Mobassa. Everyone who was aware of our football from '85 till that '95 could call the names of the players who should be that team. So , NFA just had to do the needful. When the team appeared in Kenya, it was different from the team the Kenyans played against in Lagos (they were dreaming of beating Nigeria for the first time). After 90mins, it was Nigeria 3:0 Kenya. In fact, the Kenyan players were requesting autographs from Okocha and Co. In their final qualifying match in Lagos against Egypt, when we saw the line-up on TV, it was unanimous that that was the team we had dreamth of having. Their display against Egypt which end 3:2 in favour of Nigeria and 1:1 away in Egypt confirmed the players as the "Dream Team". It was after their success in Atlanta "96 that every other U-23 team for Olympics kept the name as "Dream Team". So, Dream Team came to be due to the collection of quality players in the team not because they were dreaming. They were "our Dream Team. I was a 300L student in UNIBEN that year. |
vizkiz:Very true |
Good morning NLers, please can lawyers in the house help me out? Is there any law, fed or state, that mandates Nigerians in diaspora to pay taxes in Nigeria? if any, what is the tax for or on? Pls, let the teenagers and overgrown teenagers with itching fingers keep their fingers away from typing and just read to learn from those that know Thank you |
AntiWailer:Omo, this is wokedly ruthless ![]() |
MrEverest:Once upon a time - - The court was invaded by Fayose's thugs and a judge terribly assaulted, it was normal. - Governors who had immunity like the President were stopped from entering Ekiti, there was nothing wrong. - Fayemi a sitting governor with immunity, was tear-gassed and assaulted by Mobile Policemen, it wasn't bad. - 7 members of a 26-member Ekiti House of Assembly impeached a Speaker, nothing spoil. - Fayose's supporters ably covered by the Jonathan police blocked All major roads that lead to Ado Ekiti, it was very vèry okay. - Now when the account of a governor being investigated for diverting the commonwealth of his poor & helpless people is frozen............. |

This is what i have to say "A scientist or group of people who don't believe there's God, is Intellectually Arrogant and Spiritually Bankrupt". A pastor or Christian who doesn't believe in science is Spiritually Arrogant and Intellectually Bankrupt" ---Osaye |
socialmediaman:When we become adults, we make Our decisions which are influenced by the current environments and circumstances where Our politicians know that there is no punishment for crimes committed by vips in Nig. Hence, they fall for the temptation. |
swtdrms:Absolutely right....op this the lesson you need to learn. Outwards beauty s without inward quality are mostly for display and show off. Once a guys realized that the pretty girls lacks inner quality he dumps her and moves on. |
The "Pen is mightier than the sword/gun" is the slogan we used to hear back in the days. But apart from broadcasts media nowadays, the print media have "Sold their Pen" for Naira and political appointments to the people who they are supposed to put on under their feet. Very few "iron-hearted" thorough bred print journalists remain in the print media. |
2dugged:News Watch under Dele Giwa and Co started out as Investigative journalist even Dele Giwa was murdered by IBB the journal continued with it. Tell Magazine was the next major Investigative Journal of the 90s and early 2000s with likes of Osa Director and Co. It fragmented as some staff broke off to start their own investigative journal which competed with Tall but both have fizzled out. The present generation of reporters are mostly "brown envelope" journalists with very shallow contents laced poor expression of grammar and tenses. Lots of respectable jounalists of the 60s -90s were reputed for their investigative reporting, deep content and quality construction and ecpressoon of English language. I pity this generation, short-cut mentality and lack of attention to details will rub them of quality in all aspects of life including journalism. |

MichaelDee:What the money was used for is a secondary issue, the primary issue here the source of the money and actual purpose the money was meant for. It's money meant to buy much needed arms for soldiers to fight a devastating insurgence war that was embarrassing Nig while soldiers were "fighting" monsters with empty guns. It was Fayose's attempt to rope in Zenith Bank into his campaign funding that further exposed his stupidity and other secrets. |
wowmenow:Ignorance!!! Buhari is not party chairman of APC, so hide your ignorance from public view |
Ohhh, what a shame. Before GEJ became president, Oshiomhole was even more popular than Obasanjo on account of his Labour activism and fight with Obasanjo. How can Ikimi be telling us such lies? As for Oshiomhole's 2nd term, the Oba of Benin called Jonathan and told him to start clear of the elections and let the people decide their fate during Jonathan's campaign visit to the Oba. Anenih was not allowed to enter the Oba's guest room while the Oba talked with Jonathan. Ikimi is broke and he needs access the Edo purse through Ize-Iyamu...these are the people who share Edo huge IGR of 20bn that Oshiomhole has developed with help of the likes of Obaseki is mgt team. |
ak47yong:We are saying the same thing, I was teasing the young people on NL who were attacking the op when he raised the alarm. MMM are modifications of the Wonder Banks of the 80s and 90s. They keep resurfacing after people have forgotten about their past attrocities and a new generation of ignorant youths are on the scene. |
halfricanadian:You are quite right...self-centred people are the cause and they are the ones who points accusing fingers first when their plans or desires fails to succeed |
Pictures have emerge online of Mother rat that fought with a snake to save her litter that was snatched by a hungry snake... Proving size doesn’t matter, this mother rat took on a ferocious snake in an attempt to save her baby from becoming its dinner. The mama rodent refused to let her child be snatched away by the snake - which was about five times bigger than her - when he grabbed in its jaws. View photos Released: The snake eventually let go of the baby rat (Facebook/Rojas Montecinos Evy) Using all her motherly instinct, the rat chased after the snake as it tried to slither away, forcing the hungry serpent to release the baby from its grasp. With the baby now freed, its mother continued to chase the snake into the undergrowth, making sure he would not come back for a second bite. Lucky escape: The mama rat carried her baby to safety (Facebook/Rojas Montecinos Evy) The tiny baby initially sat motionless after its encounter but it soon started moving - right before his mum picked him up and carried him off to safety. Rojas Montecinos Evy, who captured the dramatic moment on film, described what she witnessed as an “amazing act of love from a mother”. She added: “It was a moment of much distress and emotion.” https://uk.news.yahoo.com/mother-rat-saved-her-baby-075407941.html?nhp=1

sumborri:Since you have apologised and she didn't accept, stay away and keep to yourself for a while. If neither her nor her folks calls you to resolve the matter, forget about her. If you keep begging, you put yourself in vulnerable position and they will give you conditions that undermines your rights and authority in the future and she can manipulate you for the rest of your life. If she doesn't come back. Move on! |
PRYCE:Una see lies? 2014 publication of events that couldn't save GEJ in 2015, paid e-warriors dey vomit....See stupidity....fooling all wailers |
Nikita1:I know the 2 weapons women have been using for ages; one is food especially if the man hubby can't cook and if he is broke. The other one is turning the children against him...but our forefathers had solutions for these. |
It's a deer, it's not rare, very common in most of our forests in Naija. Whenever anybody kills it in a community either by trapping or gun hunted, it's usually shared by the whole community. |
einsteine:I have discovered that lots of people on NL are teenagers and overgrown teenagers who were probably wearing diaper when the "Wonder Banks", Plan Well", Ummana Ummana" etc were making waves. Since they are a lazy and ojukokoro generation they won't heed warming or do research to find out what you are talking about, wait till cassala gas and suicide go happen everywhere. ![]() |
