0monnakoda: You are not very bright are you?
Mr. Bright, do parties not have guiding documents? Courts can not force individual on a group of people. Olagunsoye Oyinlola can not be a National Secretary of the political party when the party members do not want him in that capacity.

Everything out of Nigeria seems idiotic including the courts. Why would a court tell a group of likeminded individuals who should lead them and in what capacity? What law dictates to a political party how to change its leadership?

Anything short of total and irreconcilable disintegration of Nigeria is a waste of time and opportunity. I must sue for Republic of Igbo land or Igbo in confederation with people closely associated with them both in terrain and culture. I will vehemently oppose anything such as Southern Nigerian crap.

Are you kidding me? According to the report, “SNPA is made up of leaders of thought from the South-East, South-West and the South- South geopolitical zones”. Is character such as Edwin Clark included among hoards of leaders of thought? I must say without equivocation that SNPA is already a failure with dumbass in Edwin Clark as a member.

However, unless the position of SE and SS are different, only then would it become a problem.

The group might have decided to adopt -"wholesale" - Ohanaeze recommendation which was submitted before; in that case it shouldn't be a problem for us.

Nwanne, anya ka eji agu azu di na ofe onu! cheesy cool
Nwannem oma, Ohanaeze recommendation or not, Igbo person should be adequately represented in the so-called south-south axis. This is how it starts and few onlookers or neighbors, especially the loudmouthed ones, will construe such absence as legitimate case of illegitimacy.

PhenomenonVFX: Guy ur head too correct. I am always enjoying ur analysis on nairaland.
Dont mind my brothers from accross the Niger. They always like to think other people are the cause of their problems. They refuse to look inwards and tackle their own people who are contributing to their backwardness. They are yet to show any evidence that their great Biafra will be any better than Somalia considering what is going on there now. And they wonder why we Aniomas and other Nigerians do not take them seriously. SMH
A land that has so much human capital and potential but keeps screaming "we will be better if...." cannot be taken seriously by any man.
Mr. Aniomas, was there any anioma in the group from the so-called south-south at the conference organized by the so-called aegis of Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly, SNPA? It has started again!!

igbeke: By Henry Umoru

ABUJA— AHEAD of the convocation of the proposed national conference by President Goodluck Jonathan, prominent leaders of the three zones in the southern part of the country under the aegis of Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly, SNPA, yesterday, said that decisions of the conference must be subjected to a national referendum, just as it gave a time frame of nine months for the conference to be concluded.

According to leaders of the assembly, delegates to the conference must not be more than 600, with each geo-political zone of the country producing 100 delegates each.

They added that representation should be on the basis of equality of the geo-political zones — North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-West, South-East and South-South.

Rising from a two-day meeting held at the Cross River Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, the leaders from South-South, South-West and South-East geo-political zones, however, warned that the outcome of decisions from the dialogue must not be subjected to a review or debate by both the National Assembly and the executive.

In a communique signed by former Vice President, Dr Alex Ekwueme, former Federal Commissioner for Information and Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, and retired Anglican Bishop of Akure Diocese, who is also the current Coordinating Chairman, SNPA, Rev. Emmanuel Bolanle Gbonigi, SNPA said: “The decisions of the conference shall be subjected to a national referendum and shall not be subjected to a review or debate by the National Assembly or any other body including the executives.

“Upon approval by the people of Nigeria, the outcome becomes the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to SNPA, the entire process should end June 30, 2014. It said processing and work of conference, December 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014; preparation of a draft constitution May 1 to 31, 2014; and the referendum on new constitution will be from June 1 to 30, 2014.

Roll call

South-South representatives at the meeting were Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, Senator Bassey Henshaw, Air Vice Marshal Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), Alabo Graham Douglas, Dr. Bolere-Ketebu, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Nella Ewa and Ambassador Lawrence.

From the South-East were Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Senator Chris Ukpabio, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Senator Sylvanus Ngele, Dr. Walter Ofonagoro, Professor Ihechukwu Madubuike, Dr. Ifedi Okewnna, and Chief Edozie Ezeugwa.

South-West was represented by Bishop Emmanuel Bolanle Gbonigi, Senator Tony Adefu-ye, Emmanuel Adelano, Chief Dipo Jimilehin, Senator Kofo Bucknor-Akerele, Professor Ope Adekunle, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi and Moshood Salvador.

One of the things I resolutely resented in the above article is the composition of people representing the so-called south-south on the Roll-call of the aegis of Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly, SNPA. Where are the Igbo people of the so-called south-south on the group that has Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, Senator Bassey Henshaw, Air Vice Marshal Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), Alabo Graham Douglas, Dr. Bolere-Ketebu, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Nella Ewa and Ambassador Lawrence on it.

As far as I am concerned, the group that represented the so-called south-south on the aegis of Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly, SNPA, is unacceptable to me. We must get it right from the first step.

wirinet: You make amazing claims that borders on utopia or dreamland. How can you make the spurious claim that the northern regional politicians and the civi war are responsible for the corruption in Nigeria? are you saying that the easterner and western politicians are not corrupt or were not corrupt before the civil war? What exactly was the reason Nzeogwu planned and executed the first coup in Nigeria? was it not because be believed corruption had run amok? Please grab some education on the events leading to the civil war, if you were not born then or ask people who survived it.

Please explain how disintegration of Nigeria would help solve corruption problems, would disintegration stop the chairman of a local government chairman or other politicians in the proposed Biafra country from stealing? Would disintegration magically stop the chairman of Onitsha market from embezelling contributed funds? In that case any country with corruption issues should just disintegrate the country into multiple parts, and voila! corruption will magically disappear. The hearts of politicians will immiediately be controlled by the disintegration spirit. Disintegration appart from politicians will clean the hearts of pastors, imams, traditional rulers and all citizens.
Let me say that you have issues with comprehension. Did you read about “Nigeria of 1967 to present” from the post? Do you actually know the denotation of word-corruption? It was not a politician from eastern region that saw patronage and nepotism through Nigeria’s roof especially in the military intake for Officer’s cadet. There was no eastern politician that repeatedly called for the extermination or publicly requested fellow Nigerians to vacate his/her region because they hailed from another region different from the politician. There was a Tiv riot of 1964 in which certain politicians from the northern region encouraged certain elements in the region to kill, ra.pe and destroy properties of the people who have decided to not support NPC. It was not a politician from the eastern region that incited certain hoodlums to create chaos in western region.

There are certain actions few people would love to take in Nigeria but such actions will be immediately construed as tribal cleansing. However, if Ndigbo decide to clean house in Igbo land, there shall be no tribal twist to it. I remembered what happened in Owerri when the people felt tired and sick of the certain behaviors exhibited by certain peeps among them and just decided enough was a enough.

Nigeria is no-man’s land if I could use such term because nobody in Onicha or Owerri would want to kill a local government chairman who embezzled few thousands when the same local government chairman from Ilesha or Abeokuta who downed millions is treated to a silly juju rock music by a delusional musician.

CyberG: Why would sovereign countries or regions need a federal government to create a state within your enclave?? By all means, create a state per human being or 100, it should be nobody's problem! Oh, why I would want the West to form an independent country with 100% control of its destiny and people who can come into our country, it might be asking for the impossible since all the thieving elites will make it impossible by shutting it down in order to continue milking the country dry but regions would be an easier compromise middle ground with all the privileges of such arrangement! I would prefer that and very much like the current Nigerian arrangement of states to be abolished!
I get little jolted when human beings try to play God. Nigerians have the knack to postulate what will happen in future especially when talking about corrupted politicians. Nigeria of 1967 to present, Gowon, northern regional politicians and civil war are the reasons corruption runs amok in Nigeria. Disintegration of Nigeria will surely usher new era and political direction for new nation states.

No, I am not in the mode of dishing out insults but will not tolerate goofiness. I really meant what I wrote about your despicable shortfalls on the knowledge of crude oil exploration in Nigeria. Shell D’arcy Headquarter was at Owerri until the end of civil war when it was moved to Lagos. When crude oil was struck in commercial quantity in Olobiri in 1956, this discovery was followed equally by the oil fields at Owaza in Asa and Bori in khana.

Afam4eva: How is that equality. Were the regions created with eye for equality or were they created to give a certain region an advantage over others? The conference should be based on ethnicity which is natural as against regions and every ethnic group no matter how big or little should have the same number of delegates.
I guess the group meant that representation on the conference shall be based on equal number of representatives from each zone. However, one of the topics at the conference shall also focus on achieving equal number of states for each zone.

There shall be serious case for disintegration. Nigeria can not continue to limp along with disgruntled roommates. If this lamely stride is allowed to continue, the house maybe set on fire by the roommates who have sworn to annihilate each other on slightest provocation.
Politics › Re: Waltersmith Completes Phase 1 Of $180million Ibigwe Field Development, Imo State by DerideGull(m):
CyberG: I think you are the one being ignorant and in fact lying a wee bit. It makes sense of course for any sensible human and company to stand aside in conflict, it does not mean "abandonment" like you mentioned. One of the reasons for the Police Action was actually the oil which was not in Iboland at that time but in the land of the minorities of the time. The only people who could have asked that foreign oil companies leave was Nigeria but they didn't and in fact at some point, some of the foreign companies reached a compromise by paying a little sum to Biafra while continuing their oil exploration business. This is clearly a talk for another topic and another day but the point is that neither Igboland or Nigeria is in any position to tell any company to just evacuate and leave! You must be willing and able to buy their assets at whatever price they are willing to sell, and "abandoned company" or "land grabbing" as an avenue to get rich on the investment and sweat of others will never work! If you want the so called "enemies" to leave, you'd better go and start saving up for the $ 1.8 B NOW or you can approach any bank willing to guarantee you that sum of money to buy otherwise, you are on a long thing! They will continue operations and hire qualified people from every corner of Nigeria and outside be it Hausa or Yorubas, and there's nothing you could ever do about it!
You keep flaunting your ignorance lavishly on the historical facts about Nigeria. Since you have shown daftness on the history of crude oil exploration in Nigeria, there is no ground left for this debate. Please go do some meaningful read up.

CyberG: LWKMD! Why did you have to bring Yorubas into your painful life again?? Well, I am sure they will be more than happy to leave if either Nigeria breaks up into sovereign countries or regions and you can afford to PAY the FULL PRICE for their company! Why not? If they invest $ 180 M why you are lazying around, you bet you will not be paying them $ 180 M for their company but at least $ 1.8 B because they will factor in the reserves they are letting go, the future value of their company, etc. Now dede, can anyone in your generation afford to pay even $ 1 M, not to talk of $ 1.8 B?? undecided undecided
You have shown to be irredeemable ignorance. I read that most crude oil companies had to abandon their drilling sites for safety during mere police action in eastern region. Republic of Igbo land will gladly help you, Waltersmith, Mallam Abdulrazaq Isa and Mallam Danjuma Salah to safely evacuate their premises.

The use of Waltersmith as a front is a such deceitful mechanism setup by British and goons from northern region of Nigeria to perpetually suck Ndigbo dry and dead. This is one thing Yoruba people will not allow in Yoruba land where two goons in Mallam Abdulrazaq Isa and Mallam Danjuma Salah from northern region of Nigeria parading as CEO and Vice-Chairman of Crude oil company, Waltersmith, sucking Alaigbo to death.

Everything done in Nigeria follows the path of tribal bias, individual idiocy and myopic intelligentsia. It is an act of laziness that the so-called house committee on aviation has limit it's search on appropriation for N240m for 27 vehicles. From this angle of alleged appropriation figures, a person can easily conclude that NCAA and Ministry of Aviation budget was itemized. If so, I had asked the house committee on aviation to unclose all other items on the NCAA and Ministry of Aviation budget.

There are modification clauses in any budget unless Nigeria is running on a different shift. In addition, if there is an appropriation on the budget for “maintenance”, NCAA and ministry of aviation have every legal right to modify the budget to suit the needs of day-to-day operations.
For transparency sake, I really want the authorities to publish the budget of each ministry in Nigeria so the audience could determine if all the budgets were itemized.

Politics › Re: Lamido Confronted DPO Who Disrupted Rebel Governors Meeting ! by DerideGull(m): 2:27pm On Nov 05, 2013
wales: A two-minute 22 seconds video detailing the encounter between five of the seven rebel governors in the breakaway faction of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Divisional Police Officer of Asokoro Division, Abuja surfaced on YouTube on Monday.

The DPO, Mr. Nnanna Ama, was said to have led a detachment of policemen in three trucks to the Kano State Governor’s Lodge where governors Rabiu Kwakwanso (Kano), Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Aliyu Babangida (Niger), and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) were having a meeting.

In the video, Lamido was seen shouting at the top of his voice when Ama, who was putting on an orange T-shirt, walked into the meeting venue in company with some plain clothes policemen.

Ama, who had asked to see the host, the Kano State governor, might have resorted to speak with Kwankwaso in private on noticing the way and manner still and video cameras were directed at him as he insisted that he wanted to see “his Excellency.”

But Lamido, who was sitting on a sofa, hit the table intermittently and yelled at Ama, saying, “The governor (Kwankwaso) is here. Talk to him. What do you want from him? We are meeting alright. So, talk to him.”

At a point Lamido, who was obviously infuriated, stood up and ordered some of their security aides, who were in suit, to push the DPO out of the meeting venue.

One of the people sitting next to Babangida held Lamido in the hands and led him back to sit down.

“Push them (DPO and his men) out,” Lamido yelled.

One of their (rebel governor’s) security aides, who wanted to take action after Lamido gave the order, looked at the DPO eye-ball to-eyeball and asked, “What do you want?”

But the DPO replied that he had informed him before being taken before the governors.

“I have told you,” Ama replied, nodding his head.

In the course of the said invasion, Ama, who was seen smiling at intervals, tried to move in the direction of Lamido. But two of the security aides present held him from the back and prevented him from going further.

However, a scuffle was prevented as Ama, who appeared to have been treading cautiously, simply moved back without challenging the duo. Lamido reiterated his order and shouted again, “Get out. Who the hell is he?”

While the video lasted, some of the aides who witnessed the scenario were heard from the background asking if the DPO’s mission was to arrest the governors and other members of the breakaway faction attending the meeting.

Amaechi, who was also present at the meeting, was sighted in the video discussing and gesticulating with other attendees. At another time, Amaechi was seen rubbing his palms.

Kwankwaso, who crossed his legs while the altercations lasted, hinted that he was available to be briefed on the DPO’s mission.

“You can talk to me,” Kwankwaso told the DPO, who soon moved towards the governor to have a discussion with him. The video later went dead.

Meanwhile, mixed reactions have greeted the alleged disruption of the rebel governor’s meeting, with some people arguing that police “invasion” of the venue was a breach of their constitutional right to freedom of association and peaceful gathering. But others argued that since a court of law had declared the New PDP illegal it ought to have put a stop to calling and holding meetings.

A YouTube user, Adeolu Moronkeji, after viewing the video, wrote that it was wrong for a police officer to harass democratically elected governors who enjoy constitutionally guaranteed immunity on the orders of the powers that be.

She added that the invasion bore the hallmarks of the Presidency.

“This is very embarrassing. Is Nigeria a God-forsaken country? It appears that the era of totalitarianism and fascism is looming in Nigeria. GEJ na wa o!” Morenikeji wrote.

Also, on punchng.com, a reader with the name Gidi stated, “ If the New PDP is illegal, does it mean old friends cannot meet anymore? Is it that the powers that be don’t understand the fundamental right called ‘freedom of association’?

“Do they need to take a refresher course on the provisions of Nigeria’s constitution? Are we still under military rule? Even during the Abacha regime people still had some rights of association and movement. When is it a crime for one to host colleagues?”

But also on punchng.com, a reader, Fidel, said it was high time the rebel governors started expending their time and energy on productive endeavours that will better the lot of Nigerians rather than their incessant meetings which, according to him, were heating up the polity.

Gidi wrote, “These rebel governors could have been better appreciated by Nigerians if they have been spending the quality time they expend to transverse the length and breadth of Nigeria on finding a lasting solution to the menace Boko Haram that has ravaged the north.

“Almost on a daily basis, innocent people are being killed but that seems to mean nothing to the eyes of these so-called rebel governors and yet they said that they are fighting for justice. So what justice can be better than saving people’s lives? Instead they are seeking political recognition which is nothing but their selfish desire.”

The writer of the above article is a dullard of lowest order. Democracy does not support acts of lawlessness. In all democratic nations, any gathering other than the low class social ones, probably done in rented hall or personal residence, must sue for permit from law enforcement agency. It is very undemocratic for elected governors under a certain political party platform to engage in closed door meetings without directives from party’s national secretariat.

In fact, the actions of these governors amount to subversion, the fools should have been arrested and charged for acts of treason.

It is even worse in the eyes of so-called democrats the idiotic governor called Sule Lamido has no respect for the law of land. The governor’s actions stems from the culture of impunity which lends credence to rampant corruption found in Nigerian society. It is unfortunate Nigeria has such a moronic writer who pays lip services to the imbecilic governors and spews crap for societal consumption.

Until one opposition politician called Obafemi Awolowo devised a new way to win elections by waking up the tribal instinct of his people in 1957. Blackteeth: Personally I don't think it was a mistake or bad idea to unify various ethnic groups into a country called Nigeria. I think the problem has been that there were no measures taken to handle such unification. For this sort of union to work I think we should never have terms like IGBO LAND, YORUBA LAND AND HAUSA LAND. The idea behind setting up NYSC to disperse and mix up tribes in all corners of Nigeria was a good one, but the problem is that its not sufficient enough. I think it should have been extended beyond NYSC to others areas like employment, schooling and business.

Let me say for instance that the system is transformed such that each tribe would only find favorable employment, education and business opportunities only outside his ethnic region. The result of this after some years will be that in every region of Nigeria we would have an even distribution and presence of all ethic groups in Nigeria. Using only the 3 major ethnic groups just for an example, in Igbo land we would 40% Igbos, 30% Yorubas and 30% Hausas, in Yoruba land we would also have 40% Yorubas, 30% Igbos and 30% Hausa's and same pattern across every area in Nigeria. Each ethnic group will get used to the other and after all the intertribal marriages and mixing up I bet every issue rooted in tribalism in Nigeria would be never spring up.

Having said all that above, if we have done this since the 70's when NYSC was set up do you think an impact would have made or not?
It was not only a blunder but equally a bad colonial idea to unify ethnic nationalists form Nigeria. I guess you would have pray the Europeans had wiped out the indigenous people such as Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Ibibio, Efik, Edo, Fulani, Tiv, Nupe, Ogoni, Tiv, Birom etc so that your skewed idealism would have been achieved.

It would have been an act of idiocy and lack of humanistic decorum for anybody to force certain group of people out of their ancestral land in order to achieve idealism that runs contrary to the wish of the Almighty Creator.

The British imperialist accomplished in Nigeria what was considered the construct based on the economic interest of Great Britain. It is not surprised that all the evidences have shown Nigeria was not planed and erected for Nigerians or their interest and shall never be.
