Abagworo: Before Okorocha Okigwe had more banks, hotels, fastfoods and businesses than Orlu. It equally had better roads. The death of Okigwe started when Udenwa government fell out with Cattle traders at Garki which made them relocate to Abia State where they got the biggest cattle market in the East. Okigwe previously had the biggest cattle market in the East.
Orlu had the same kind of narrow single roads with red soil staining most houses before Okorocha came and completely changed it to a town with major arterial roads dualised with streetlights. You can hardly remember Orlu used to be red if you visit there now. The only road that depicts how it used to be is the old Owerri road . Okigwe is still like that old Owerri road till date.
Dualising Owerri-Orlu highway is the biggest road project in Southeast by any Governor past and present. Only Rivers State and Akwa-Ibom have done such project that I know of in this region of Nigeria. That road runs almost 50km to Akokwa and it is a federal road. Okigwe to Owerri equally needs such dualisation just as Owerri to Obowo/Abia boundary if we must accept justice and equity.
Finally most new developments are in Umuagwo, Mgbidi, Oguta, Ideato, Umuaka, Orlu town and even the new industrial park is at Ohaji/Egbema. So after Owerri and its immediate environs Orlu takes everything leaving out Okigwe. Per the bolded, why are you bent on blowing hot air? How could anybody locate the biggest cattle market in Okigwe when it does have a railway station? |

Ymodulus: 95% of people that fight online for the biafra cause have 10% knowledge of what transpired during the Biafran war. Also many pro-biafran war supporters pick Chinua Achebe side of the story on the Biafran war in the book 'there was a country' neglecting all other account and labeling them as fake.
Meanwhile Chinua's story was one-sided and biased. Chimanda Adichie is an example of the blind followers. Do you believe Ademoyega was impartial when he wrote the book? Who were these many pro-Biafran war supporters that pick Chinua Achebe's story? I wonder what a dumbass soldier who spent most of the war time in jail knew about the war. AareOlumidey: What South South Niger Delta wants is 50% Resource Control not biafra Igbo are using the support they gave to Jonathan in 2015 election as blackmail to convert Niger delta struggle to biafra. Niger delta struggle is 50% resource control. This deception will not work. They only supported Jonathan because they got alot of appointments under Jonathan. They are just selfish and greedy people. Niger Delta Struggle is completely different from biafra agitation. Igbo supported Obasanjo against thier own son and hero Ojukwu in 2003 election, they should go and claim yoruba instead. As far as I am concern Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa are all benefiting from the current system. After all an Igbo man Gen Agunyi Ironsi created the Unitary System for Nigeria in 1966 that we are complaining against today. Gen Agunyi Ironsi set the foundation for the destruction of regional federalism in Nigeria. if not for his love for total control and domination (The disease of an average Igbo man), Niger delta would have be enjoying 50% resource control today.Tobe continued............ Per the bolded, most Nigerians have penchant for idiocy and stark ignorance. This is the reason why idiotic and moronic essays should be cut to size the moment they germinate. When Ironsi assumed the reigns of power in Nigerian government until the time his was murdered, Nigeria has regional system of government with four regions operating on quasi-independence as they were under Tafawa Balewa. However this quasi-independent format was abolished by Gowon when he created 12 states which introduced the unitary government where state government are looking up to Lagos for everything. |

Mazi Kanu has been deceiving jobless gullible Igbo youths that he has secured international allies, but when he was asked by Igbos in the US who these international allies are, he went deaf and dumb. Udmaster: Nice Comment.. Uniting the Igbo with their kith and kin in SS and NC should be the main aim now. And it is the duty of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo to do that. The cultural affinity between Ndiigbo in five states of Nigeria and in other states is not a job. Ohanaeze is not a political entity and certainly not a nation builder. Therefore the route channeled by IPOB, MASSOB and Nnamdi Kanu is right approach for an independent nation. Anybody who passes as an Igbo must watch his/her utterances in the public with respect to independent state. |

EUROBOMBER: Udmaster, thank you for this thread. I have said it many times that Igbo nation should be separated from Nnamdi Kanu's IPOB. Just imagine the silly speech about wrappers. Imagine Kanu asking his followers to rise up and attack Pastor Kumuyi and kill Yorubas! Is that how he intends to get Biafra? What has a man of God got to do with his agitation?
I believe we Igbos can get a lot of what we want if we play our cards right in Nigeria but the reason why I get involved in all this Biafra talk is incase Nigeria eventually breaks up.
The Igbos will not force any tribe to be part of us but will accept any tribes that choose to be with us. All I am trying to point out is that Igboland is much bigger than the SE as defined by Nigeria, Igboland spreads into Delta & Rivers states. If Nigeria breaks we will take all our lands with us. The rest of the "We SS" people like tonyebarcanista and his likes can then form their ND republic. Thank God ijawcitizen has recognised this fact.
Another thing fundamentally wrong with Nnamdi Kanu's approach is that he did not make wide spread consultations, you cannot just sit down in UK, draw any map you like and begin to circulate as Biafra, this is the reason why these minorities are calling us expantionists. Consultation is key in this very critical issues. For instance if there happens to be any sort of agreement between the Igbos and the SS people to form any country the name cannot be Biafra, the name would be agreed by negotiations. Secondly we can go for a rgional system of government whereby we have two regions i.e. SE & SS. Each region would control it's resources and pay 20% to the center to fund a united formidable military. We can have a president and prime minister such that ifsay the SE produces the president, the SS would produce prime minister and vice versa.
This way, a society built on fairness and justice can be formed. This issue calls for a lot of mental work and not someone asking people to start killing their neighbours from one radio Biafra. As for the true size of Igboland, Cheruv has the map. The bolded is arrant nonsense. Nobody is a man of God. If you meant man of "god", it is debatable. I do not have time for all other craps in the above post. There is no policy that originates through consultation. Policies usually originate from a person and bought by many people. Only a dunce will allow detractors to derail a well thought out approach. Those who do not agree can either stay on the sideline or form clique of saboteurs as usual. However, he who is stung by a bee takes note of housefly. |

Politics › Re: International Friendly - Catalunya vs Basque: Lessons For Anti-Biafra Nigerians by DerideGull(m): 7:09pm On Dec 27, 2015 |
obailala: I only cited that conflict because it is still one of the issues birthed by the balkanization of USSR; something which the soviets are obviously still not happy about till date. The truth is that no country in this world will allow a part of it's territory ceded away without putting up some formidable opposition which more often than not usually degenerates into a violent conflict.
The bolded is a nonsensical fallacy from the land of insane. Czechs and Slovakia are once a country before it disintegrated and no shot was fired in anger. Any place there is any form of separatist movement, there is marked and know territory to those demanding to secede. Nigeria like Czechoslovakia can disintegrate into Biafra, Arewa, Oodua etc. The territories do not belong to Nigeria but to inhabitants the formed Nigeria collectively. This is the reason there are ethnicity and state of origin in Nigerian political lexicon. |
