I and my colleagues never could convince the corpers that came to replace us then to embrace selfless service for the good of the host community. Their preference of seeking the better life led to the collapse of the projects we started from the scratch there. So, I wasn't in the habit of comparing myself to what others were earning wherever they were. I just offered the best of my service, bore the hardships, appreciated the good and went off in search of a better life at the end.

Considering the fact that most coppers are posted to teach in schools you can't compare their experience and impact to that of a SSCE holder who earns the minimum wage of 18k.
My point is if a graduate is placed at level 8 and entitled to 66k, why can't a copper be paid more than the half of 66k (33,000)??

Well, people have different motivations. The NYSC isn't a money making venture. I saw it as an avenue to make a difference and I utilized it well. My primary concern wasn't the pay else, I'ld have just asked my L.I. to take the money while I'm busy doing stuffs elsewhere.

My advantage then was that I invested much in the community and they took care of my needs. I was able to send money home monthly and left service with about 60k cash despite the fact that the state government didn't pay us their own part. So, why not give to your host community and let them bless you good.

After all, some corps members were paid #7,500 and they didn't die off.

The debacle between Amechi and NJC lies in the figment of Amechi/PMB-haters imagination. the intellectual minds know that the judges are just trying to divert attention. it should be the NJC and DSS debacle.
Secondly, contrary to many of you, media trials based on hearsays about Amechi is not tenable. let the judges go to court and prove that first, the monies and arms in their residences were lawfully owned and second, prove with evidence that their arrests was an act of vendatta for not collecting bribes. let all parties proceed to court. thats were accused persons go to.

Back to this issue; a meeting between two people is private. The constitution empowers the police and their likes to do such, not the judiciary ordinarily. When such recording is released without the permission of the other party, the one who released it has run foul of the law. Why do you think the judge placed emphasis on 'verbally'? These are men who sleep with law books and have studied/dished out verdicts, not me or you on Nairaland.

Do you know that to take a record of a meeting without the consent of both parties is against the law? And even if the judge did that, are you expecting him to make it public? Do you know the suits that may come up if they notice he has been recording calls? Asking after records is pathetic. It is only in cases of 'security' or those of grave consequence that call recording can be admitted as evidence.

Well, the case is for DSS to prove, not the judge. I doubt if Amaechi's case would ever see the courtroom because a lot of threats would have exchanged hands to die that affair.

Do you know the meaning of 'hearsay'?
The judge that accused Amaechi has a direct knowledge because he was spoken to by Amaechi, but this man claims to have been told by someone else who had a direct knowledge. That makes his testimony hearsay and in law courts, hearsay is not trustworthy.

The EFCC/DSS often build their cases on hearsay than factual evidence, that's why they succeed in the pages of the juicy-gossip-hungry media but flop in the courts
