It's a great way for Atiku to bow out of the political scene in the least. It's also a sense of awakening to the youth that there is no perfect crime.

BusinessRe: $6.8 Billion Overdue Forward Payment Responsible For Naira’s Decline - Wale Edun by DesChyko(op): 9:59am On Sep 22, 2023
This could have been avoided, or at least, tempered down.

The current World Trade Organization boss, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, when she was managing our country's finances, cried time and again, against the stomach infrastructure mentality of then governors, now mostly political key figures of the ruling party. She was hounded by all manner of politics and propaganda until they fulfilled their lifelong dream of depleting our ECA to their own gains.

After the PDP handed over, the ECA became ultimately became useless, despite opportunities after opportunities to save foreign income. In 2022 alone, we should have at least $9 billion saved in the ECA. Today, in 2023, Edun is talking of just $6.8bn needed.

Now the chicken is home to roost and there is nothing to cushion the fall. Posterity will judge the likes of Aregbesola, Fashola, Akpabio, Amaechi and Oshiomole who fought tooth and nail against the idea of saving our excess earnings.

Business$6.8 Billion Overdue Forward Payment Responsible For Naira’s Decline - Wale Edun by DesChyko(op): 9:57am On Sep 22, 2023
Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Adebayo Olawale Edun, has attributed the naira’s incessant decline to approximately $6.8 billion in overdue forward payments within the foreign exchange market, according to Bloomberg.

He insists that addressing this issue is crucial for stabilizing the local currency.

He clarified that the resolution of these unpaid contracts could fortify the naira’s value and open avenues for additional foreign exchange inflow.

Over the course of several months, the Nigerian naira has been on a consistent downward trajectory in terms of its value.

In the currency exchange parallel market yesterday, it neared the threshold of 1000 naira per US dollar.

This depreciation can be attributed to the insufficient supply of dollars by the central bank to this particular market.

To be honest, almost every community tries to be self-sufficient instead of relying on a government that only responds when it is time for elections. Most of this is achieved through the meetings.

It wasn't just a downpour on Saturday. It was a near-flood incident. I was concerned that despite the level of flooding, the rain was still coming down in torrents. Never had I experienced such in all my years residing here.

It was also a warning to us concerning our recent lack of interest as natural drainage channels are taken over by buildings and gutters are left unattended. The next Saturday CDA meeting will be very interesting.
TravelIkotun Road Collapses After Downpour, Residents Groan by DesChyko(op): 5:44am On Sep 21, 2023
A section of the road linking the Ikotun roundabout to Ejigbo and other neighbouring communities in Lagos State has collapsed.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the road just by a canal caved in after the downpour on Saturday, September 16.

The damage had since left motorists plying the route in palpable fear over an imminent accident resulting from a total collapse of the section.

Our correspondent who visited the community on Tuesday discovered that the extent of the damage had left the road almost impassable.

Motorists plying the route were seen filing into a single lane as they alternated the only space left after the damage.

A resident, who identified himself simply as Ayoola, said, “The road was in a better shape before the erosion from the canal started to damage it. The damage has been going on for years.

“Besides, the roads lacked proper maintenance since they were built on the canal. It also would not have got to this level if the maintenance was carried out. So, the more we entered the rainy season, the more it got damaged and that was what led to the collapse.”

Another resident, Idowu Sanusi, alleged that the road had been left unattended despite a series of complaints made to the government both at the local and state levels.

It was gathered that the collapsed road had been causing gridlock in the community, especially during the morning rush.

When contacted, the Director of Media and Publicity Lagos Ministry of Works, Shina Odunuga, denied knowledge of the situation.

He said, “I don’t know about it and I cannot respond to you on the phone.”

Sorry Chief, journalists don't earn their feathers by partying with leaders. They do so by toeing the line of truth, no matter whose ox is gored.

Jamal Khashoggi, Times Person of the Year 2018, has much more achievements and recognition than any member of the Saudi Crown.

David Hundeyin is on that same path.

Go and verify.

PoliticsFBI Has More Pages On Tinubu Than Malcolm X - David Hundeyin (video) by DesChyko(op): 4:39am On Sep 20, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKrpFSrH3z0

Speaking on American Broadcasting Company (ABC) News, David Hundeyin made it known that in over 30 years, Tinubu managed to get away with all of this baggage hanging around him but this is the first time the right questions are actually being raised and pursued.

The news anchor then moved on to query if these things happened decades ago as backed up by the documents in his revelations, why then has he managed to evade the judiciary, as recently as the appeal court, who rejected the petitions put against him.

In response, Hundeyin clarified that the judiciary is not really independent as the executive controls their funds. He also said the courts chose to dwell on technicalities on how the evidence was submitted than the actual merit of the case for instance, saying a bank account committed the drug trafficking crime despite an account not being a standalone entity.

The interviewer then asked after the purported agreement to release Tinubu’s documents by the FBI and his role in it. David Hundeyin said initially, the FBI refused to release the documents because he was a private citizen. However, after being announced as the President of Nigeria by INEC, he is no longer a private citizen.

Aaron Greenspan (owner of Plainsite.org, whose website was subjected to ridicule by APC and Tinubu supporters for their role in making public, the court documents showing Tinubu’s assets forfeiture) together with Hundeyin and a pro bono lawyer, filed FOIAs for the release of the documents. After stonewalling for a while, it was announced on September 8 that all 6 US agencies including the FBI, CIA, DEA and IRS agreed to release the documents.

The FBI also said they would be releasing 2500 pages of documents on Bola Tinubu, which is even more than what they had on Malcom X, accused of preaching racism and violence in the US.

EducationGovernment Should Stop Looking For Excuses To Extort Private Schools - NAPPS by DesChyko(op):
The National Association of Proprietors of Private School (NAPPS) has come down hard in response to the recent invitation extended to Private Schools heads in Lagos, to teach them how to mark attendance registers for a fee of 10,000 per school.

In a terse-worded response, NAPPS, speaking through the Secretary, BOT, Prince Sakiru Adesina Raji, called out the extortion attempt, saying the private schools have been holding their own effectively in all ramifications. He went further to query if the Lagos State Government cannot organize such seminar for teachers since they already pay hundreds of millions of naira in Annual Dues and Approval permits, year in, year out.

Permanent Secretary,
Lagos State Ministry of Education,
Obafemi Awolowo Way,
Alausa , Ikeja.

RE: INVITATION TO ATTEND A 1 DAY TRAINING ON MANAGEMENT OF CLASS ATTENDANCE REGISTER FOR REGISTRATION OF CANDIDATES FOR MAY - JUNE 2024 WASSCE.

The above letter authored by one Mr Adeyemi Adebayo, Director, Basic Education Services in the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education is indeed a serious embarrassment to the body of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Lagos State and should not be allowed to go without condemnation and criticism it deserves.

In the said letter with reference number MED/BES/S.2149/VOL11/201 dated September 11, 2023, Mr Adebayo took Proprietors of Private Schools to the cleaners that private schools used non- standard records in filling their attendance register last year hence they must attend a one day training at a cost of N10,000:00 just to be taught how to mark attendance register.!!! This is what many have been doing for decades without fail. What an insult? What an infra-dig?

Must Lagos State Government Ministry of Education look for any mundane reason to extort money from Private Schools at all costs?.

What happens to all the Hundreds of millions of Naira that Private School owners pay as Annual Dues, Pre Approval Permit and so on year in and year out.?

I think whoever gave the directives to Mr Adebayo as he claimed is suffering from delusion grandeur that free money is still available in private schools.

Many Private Primary and Secondary Schools could not open for the new academic session having weighed the pros and cons and have thrown their staff into unemployment markets and they too jobless yet some people are not in tune with what is happening to the people under their guards.

Mr Adebayo's age long saying of Owo wa lowo Private School should cease forthwith and he should see his new position as one where he and his colleagues should find avenues of helping the trapped schools to come out of the doldrums where they are and not ride a willing horse to death because incomes through Private Schools Annual Dues, Permit Dues etc etc will stop if the schools are milked to death.

There is nothing better for the Ministry other than the immediate withdrawal of the insensitive circular because there's an adage in Yoruba that says Orisa bi o le gbemi, semi bi oti bami i.e If the deity cannot improve my lot, leave me as l am. Don't add to my miseries.

Things are really bad for school owners and that is not a hidden fact. Why must we behave like the proverbial scabbard that continue to destroy its own house thinking it is destroying others.

If it is that easy to run a school why did the government increase fees in Model Colleges by over 200% last year? Why are the Federal and State governments increasing fees in tertiary institutions for returning and new students across the nation.?

If l may ask, does it mean that Lagos State Ministry of Education cannot organize a one day seminar on the marking of attendance register for teachers if they feel it is necessary without asking for money or do they need a Consultant to do that, after all, many officers are just warming their seats and collecting free salaries.

The relationship between Private Schools and Government should not be a Master-Servant relationship as the circular portrays. Part of the circular portrays school owners as dunces but many are former Directors in the Education and other Ministries while others are top-notch officers and captain of industries.

Mutual relationship should not only be seen during Election years when we are treated like Kings and Queens in order to get our votes.

In conclusion, it is expedient that the circular be withdrawn and a more positive approach be taken if the government feel inclined to correct any error if any exists in order not to start the Academic Session with chaos and anarchy.

Please accept my warmest greetings as l pray that the Right decision is taken.

PRINCE SAKIRU ADESINA RAJI.
Secretary, Board of Trustees, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS Nigeria.
