How come Obj won election in the north as a Christian? Those asking for Muslim musilm ticket want to harvest Christan votes in the north and consolidate their votes in the south.
Those who are crying over Muslim-Muslim ticket are never going to vote Tinubu/APC- They are majorly IPOB terrorists and PDP supporters. They want APC and Tinubu to fail in the North by picking a Christain VP...
Give us Elrufai, we would win the election before 2PM..
From the beginning, it was clear that Tinubu was the preferred candidate of the northern governors. Without the party micro zoning to the South east, it will be difficult to get a flag bearer from the Southeast. The South east had one of the least number of delegates in both the pdp and apc primaries. It will be a political miscalculation for delegates from the south east to support a candidate from the south east when there is no support coming from other geopolitical zones.
Reflect7: This 2023 election cycle has EXPOSED the myth of Igbo political marginalisation in Nigeria.
From the PDP primaries, where, out of 100+ south-eastern delegates, only 13 voted for a south-eastern candidate, to the Labour Party, seen heretofore as the last, safe refuge of progressive Igbo candidate and rising political force, Peter Obi, and now torn apart by the rise of three 'factions' each with its own Igbo presidential candidate!
At the APC primaries, the SE had over 200 delegates, yet the SE candidates received less than 50 votes in total.
The problem of the south-east is simply that the egos of their elite are so narrow and personalised as to be unable to comprehend or work for a wider ethnic, much less national interest.
And you know, I keep thinking, it is probably just as well that Igbos are part of Nigeria, because the way I'm seeing them, IF they actually formed a country of their own, it would be worse than Somalia, as there would be so many factions and warlords, with none ever agreeing to concede power to their fellow 'rivals' in the ethnicity.
EBMedia: Popular Nigerian socialite, Noble Igwe has announced that he has concluded plans for an all expense paid trip for evicted Big Brother Naija lockdown housemate, Ozo.
IgbereTV reports that Igwe made the announcement on his his Twitter page. He stated that everything is set for Ozo’s trip to Cyprus, with all expenses covered by him. He added that some people win in real life and there are still good people amongst us.
Sanjemiga: Look at our first indigenous drone gun-boat made Raji Robotech Murphy.
P.S: He also made our first surveillance drone for the Airforce some years ago. What this means is that there will be less casualties for the Nigerian soldiers.. It is Nigerian made and sooted for our terrain. #ProudlyNigerian
Good. Very nice. If we can achieve this we can build bigger warships which should be our aim. We shouldn't be satisfied with little achievement. Kudos to NN all the same.
When I talk about human capacity development I mean specific modern skills that will enable us develop manpower that can produce our needs locally. Eg, battle tanks, fighter jets, planes, ships, turbines, cure to diseases etc. You and I know that the training Nigerians are getting from our institutions of is not sufficient.
K0y3: Production of durable and cheap steel is very important for an industrialization drive. A nation can't keep importing steel and expect to build/develop industries, be it manufacturing, processing, storage, construction, housing, movie, fashion, entertainment etc heavy machineries are made out of steel down to the lightest cameras, mobile phones, cooking/ kitchen utensils etc
I totally agree with you on the human capacity development but is this not the reason why we go to school( university, polytechnic etc) or learn a skill( tailoring, welding, carpentry, mechanics, photography, filming etc)? But still no job, and when there is no opportunity, you can not showcase your talent or create a content.
I still insist, fix power ( solar, wind, gas, hydro, in which ever preference or order) and produce your own steel as a nation. Then watch how every other thing will fall into place.
Power and human capacity development. With power, emphasis will be on energy mix( solar, wind, gas, hydro etc)
K0y3: Power and steel. A nation can not successfully embark on massive industrialization, construction and production process without these 2 factors. After which every other things will fall in place.
mekaboy: Ghadafi advised that Nigeria should be divided along religious lines. This would have created a Northern and Southern Nigeria. Having 2 presidents.
This would have brought the following advantages to the south.
1) Election of presidential candidates would have been based on education, experience and competence.
2) majority of voters would be educated and exposed people
3) resources spent tackling terrorism and insurgency over the years would have been channelled towards development.
4) less farmers herders clash and bloodshed.
5) easier to manage population of educated and skilled people. Creating more jobs.
Today the north that is the least educated is the most qualified for employment in government agencies.
The north groomed terrorism and sucked our nations resources through the channel.
Coronavirus have come and it also has become a channel to divert funds to the north.
But i wish the problem was just the north using coronavirus to suck our resources. That would have been bearable .
My greatest fear is how the north will serve as an incubator for coronavirus and distribute it all over the country.
That is when the south will regret not making the move.
The narrative that the rambunctious and puffy leader of the Boko Haram terrorists group, Abubakar Shekau, has been devastated to the point that he has not only become sober but is pleading for mercy would have been unimaginable in the recent past.
Indeed when the audio tape of the Boko Haram leader was released by a major news medium, many did not believe it initially until it was confirmed by multiple sources.
Shekau, through media preps and hype has over the years succeeded in not only terrorising the minds of people, but has succeeded in creating a myth of invincibility about himself.
But it is true that the Boko Haram leader in a new audio, not only admitted being weakened but cried for mercy seeking protection against the firepower of the Nigerian military.
Shekau in the 1:22 seconds audio, cried that he and his men are facing difficulties due to what he called the devilish act and wickedness of the Nigerian military.
He said, “We deserted Izala people to practice Your true religion; we abandoned Tijjaniyya people to practice Your true religion; we deserted the Shiites to practice Your true religion; we forsook our parents, uncles and aunties to practice Your true religion.
“It is because of your religion that we placed knife on Your servants’ necks; but today, they are trying to change us from one thing to another. Oh Lord, have mercy upon under [the blessings] Ramadhan; Oh Lord, have mercy on under [the blessings] of Ramadhan," he said while crying profusely.
The ululations of Shekau is not without basis.
Since March when Lt. Gen. TY Buratai moved to the theatre of war in Borno State, the fight against insurgency and terrorism took a new dimension with the Nigerian military giving the insurgents hell in each encounter.
The sustained offensive has recorded a series of successes against the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists fighting on the fringes of Lake Chad region.
In March, Nigerian troops eliminated not less than 20 top Boko Haram commanders including one Abu Usamah, and over 100 of their fighters who were hiding in Kwalaram, Ngilewa, Sabon Tumbu, Bukarmairam, Wulgo in the Marte and Gamboru Ngala axis as well as in Gorgi, Damboa local government of Borno State.
The troops followed up on that with the killing of 105 insurgents in Buni Gari and captured many weapons in April and on the heels of that in May, killed 134 of ISWAP and Boko Haram members and arrested 28 of their informants and overran their camps in Durfada, Allafha, Timbuktu, Bulajibi and Gonikurmi near the Sambisa forest.
These appear too good to be true but all facts relating to the success have been fact checked and confirmed by security experts, the media and other independent bodies .
The question now is what has made it possible for these successes to be recorded within a short time and in the magnitude attained.
Hitherto, the killing of even tens of insurgents given the asymmetric nature of the fight and the lack of clear demarcation between the terrorists and civilian communities have been celebrated, but in less than two months, over 500 of the terrorists and not less than 40 of their top commanders and informants have been taken down bringing them to their knees and begging for mercy.
The secret has to do with the current leadership of the military and the experience of the person leading the assault on the insurgents at the Lake Chad region.
Buratai undoubtedly is one of the best war commanders and intelligent military tactician Nigeria and indeed Africa has ever had.
Since he began leading the Multinational Joint Task Force against insurgency the pressure tilted on the terrorists.
Pathetic stories of troops fleeing from battle fields in what was known as tactical withdrawal stopped completely.
Stories about soldiers opening fire on their commanders due to lack of trust or wives of soldiers protesting the deployment of their husbands to the battle front all stopped
Troops and their commanders who have worked directly under Buratai have described him as motivation personified.
Troops tell the story of one of his first appearances in the theatre of war after he was appointed chief of army staff. While addressing soldiers in their camps, shots, apparently from the insurgents were heard from the nearby bushes and the COAS was said to have given an order for the troops to follow him to take down the 'irritants.'
Since confirming that the Army Chief is serious about winning the battle due to the zeal and courage he exhibits, troops no longer have cause to doubt the sincerity of their commanders and have been motivated to push harder.
Seeing that the new helmsman is not one that would hole himself up in a guest house partying while troops are in the battle field but one that is prepared to be in the battlefield with them, troops regained their confidence and moved with gusto.
The Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters must noticed the change in the fighting spirit of troops and must have been asking themselves if these were the same set of troops that were scared of confronting them that many of them were said to have even deserted the army out of fear.
The fact is, Buratai, thinks, eats and drinks battles. He sees military engagement and combat as every drill that should be expected by any serious soldier no matter the rank.
Those close to him say he devotes his time to study and planning war strategies and is meticulous and thorough in execution.
He is said to have studied all the strategies of war heroes like Chaka Zulu, Khalid ibn Walid, Hannibal, Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte and others.
War experts and security analysts maintain that given the depth of knowledge and experience Buratai has acquired over the years, that it would be an insult to expect anything less from the current war against insurgency given the nature of the enemy who are mere street urchins trained by a sprinkle of rebels from Chad who serve as their commanders.
The Army Chief's latest innovation is said to be the strategy which involves moving reinforcement while troops are pressing hard against the insurgents which has completely overwhelmed the terrorists.
President Muhammadu Buhari has indeed made the right choice as far as the military high command is concerned.
But it is not over until it is over.
Buratai and the troops deserve the prayer and support of all Nigerians as we can see that he and his troops are on the last lap of putting a final stop to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorism.

GreatResearcher1: NAF@56: NAF DISTRIBUTES FOOD ITEMS, OTHER PALLIATIVES TO HOST COMMUNITIES IN ABUJA TO MARK ITS 56th ANNIVERSARY
As part of activities to mark its 56th Anniversary, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 21 April 2020, distributed food items and other palliatives to indigent members of its host communities in Nuwalege, Zamani and Ushafa in the Abuja Municipal and Bwari Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The palliatives, which were handed over by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Oladayo Amao, are aimed at complementing the efforts of the Federal Government in assuaging the hardships being experienced by Nigerians due to the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Unlike previous NAF Day Celebrations, this year’s anniversary has been scaled down in keeping with the mood of the Nation as well as the need to comply with the stipulated precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus. The distribution of palliatives to NAF host communities, which commenced today, would also be replicated in all the 6 Geopolitical Zones of the Country and would last until 26 April 2020.
While fielding questions from the Press, the Representative of the CAS, AVM Amao, stated that the NAF Day is usually marked with a lot of fanfare and major activities such as ceremonial parades, anniversary lectures, medical outreaches, gala nights and award ceremonies as well as static and aerial displays, amongst others. “However”, he disclosed, “with the mood of the Nation as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the NAF decided this year to mark the anniversary in a low key manner whilst reaching out to poor and vulnerable members of our host communities through the distribution palliatives”. He added that members of the Nigerian Air Force Officers' Wives Association (NAFOWA) would also be complementing the effort of the NAF through the distribution of palliatives to some communities before the end of the week. He appealed to beneficiaries to stay safe and observe all the precautionary safety measures and guidelines stipulated by the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other relevant Government Agencies, as the NAF would continue to visit them from time to time to further enlighten them on steps they could take individually and collectively to stem the Pandemic.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander 053 Headquarters NAF Camp, Abuja, Air Commodore Simon Peter, noted that in view of the recent turn of events brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic, the CAS directed that the NAF’s 56th Anniversary should be flagged off with the distribution of palliatives to the poor and vulnerable groups in the NAF’s host communities nationwide. He disclosed that about 500 families would benefit from the first phase of the programme in Abuja and would receive various relief items including bags of rice and semovita as well as vegetable oil, tin tomatoes and hand sanitisers. While thanking the CAS for the laudable initiative, the Commander recalled how the NAF, as part of its civil military relations efforts, had held medical outreaches and provided toilets and a borehole for the Primary School in the Community. He noted that the Service would continue to add value to the society and thus contribute to Nation building.
The Sarki Nuwalege, Bashiru Daudu, while appreciating the NAF for coming to their aid at this crucial period, noted that the palliatives distributed by the Service would reduce hunger and also mitigate the hardship the people of the Community were facing. He also thanked the CAS for the laudable initiative which, he said, would further assist the poorest of the poor in his Community. The other activity lined up to commemorate the NAF Day 2020 is a Fly-past by NAF aircraft on Wednesday, 22 April 2020, which would serve as a salute to the Nigerian people for their support to the NAF over the years, whilst also reminding Nigerians to stay safe in these trying times. The flag-off ceremony of palliatives in Abuja was also witnessed by Branch Chiefs, Directors and other senior officers from Headquarters NAF and other units in Abuja as well as members of the host communities.

If you can't pay your bills go back to your village.
BlackDonald: The face of a tenant, identified as Oyize Peter, was on Sunday allegedly marred by her landlord, Ubasinachi Ekweozor, and his wife, Anulika, over unpaid water and electricity bills at their house located at No, 78, Amudalatu Agodo, Ikotun, Lagos.
According to a source: “Oyize was owing electricity bills and her house was disconnected. This infuriated her landlord because the tenant’s house was also connected to the pumping machine that serves the entire compound.
So the landlord called an electrician to connect the machine’s wire to his own apartment and also called a plumber to disconnect Oyize’s pipe so she wouldn’t have water, but she didn’t allow that and it led to an exchange of words.
Calm was later restored and the tenant returned to her apartment. However, Oyize was in the kitchen when the landlady allegedly took her unawares and used an axe to mar her face.”
The victim has since been rushed to a hospital while the culprits have been whisked to Ikotun Police Station where they are currently cooling off.
ColonelEmeka: Another dramatic video out of the NE, troops were pinned down by HMG fire then you can hear them scream the "terrorist gunner has dropped" "The gunner don drop", they then urge their colleagues to fire RPG at the technical, eventually they gather moral and push forward with one shouting “We’ll catch them by hand!"
ISWAP fighters were on the run with our soldiers aggressively going after them with a hail of gun fire.
nickxtra: In this picture captured during the familiarisation visit of the Bayelsa Governor elect, Lyon, President BUHARI is seen with all seriousness telling the National APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomole something, while the APC National Chairman looks on with rapt attention like a pupil listening to his teacher. The other party leaders look pathetic to this conversation.
My mind tells me that the President was telling him this: "Weldone my Chairman, I know you can do it, but I don't really like what is happening in your state. Try and look for a way out to settle with Obaseki"
I may be right or wrong, but before you pass your judgement, make we hear your mind.
Bayalsa has been librated finally. Congrats to the governor elect.
stephenduru: President Muhammadu Buhari today received Bayelsa State Governor-elect David Lyon at the State House, Abuja. He was accompanied by Oshiomhole and APC governors.
Ebullience: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello winner of the 2019 governorship election in Kogi state.
Bello won majority votes in 12 of the 21 local government areas in the state, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate, Engr. Musa Wada won majority votes in 9 local government areas.
Bello polled a total of 406,222 votes to defeat Wada who scored 189,704 votes.
Fisayo Soyombo, who is an undercover journalist, trended few days ago, after spending two weeks in detention five days in a Police cell and eight as an inmate in Ikoyi Prison to track corruption in Nigeria’s criminal justice system, beginning from the moment of arrest by the Police to the point of release from prison.
BUSINESSARENAA: I once said that the closure of these borders is not a properly thought idea, but some ignorant entities were ranting up and down.
Rice is not the only commodity that passes through a border. There are a lot of genuine business that passes through the land border.
If you are importing or exporting to some of the west African countries, it's easier and more cost effective to use the land boarders than the sea port.
Imagine a man exporting textiles to Ghana from Kano, how possibly will he do that through the sea port in APAPA?
I am totally against rice smuggling but the government should have come up with smarter ideas to deal with this issue, and not shutting down the whole boarder.
Presently I have about two trailers of hides and skin from Mali parked at the boarder incurring bills, with high possibility of spoiling within the shortest period of time because of its present condition.
How do I import from Mali to Nigeria through the seaport?
It is only those that does not understand what happens at the land boarders that are jumping up and down.
Once again I reiterate my stance against smuggling rice through the boarders, but we have to be more tactical in handling certain issues as regards to our economy.
This boarder issue in Nigeria is like a fly perching on a man's scrotal sack, you have to apply wisdom in dealing with it, if not you may end up hurting yourself terribly bad if you hit it with great force.
