'Nothing whey my eyes no go see for this Lagos’

I was just coming home this evening from an events coverage project at Lekki Phase 1. Tired and worn out, I couldn’t wait for the next bus to drag my tired ass to CMS or Costain, whichever route comes first. I can’t afford to stay at the bus top for long.

In no time, I heard the rickety sound of the Danfo with the hoarse voice of the ‘Conductor’. I managed to listen to the route the bus ‘Condu’ was calling. ‘CMS, Costain, CMS, Ojuelegba’. Oh Thank God for the blessings, I jumped in and managed the last seat of the bus.

No sooner had I managed to adjust myself to comfort than I heard the kind of sloppy sound that comes with trying to clean the inside of a bathroom slippers with hard brush.

I turned to confirm what could be the cause of this sloppy sound and guess what I saw!!!

The love birds were obviously making out at the back Seat of the Danfo Bus……

I didn’t know when the sound escaped from my mouth….’

‘My God Warrizdiz’!

Before I knew it, everyone in the bus jolted up and stared in my direction, and noticed what was really happening. LOL! The two lovebirds stopped abruptly as soon as they heard my scream.

Utterly sorry and sober, I apologized and mouthed

‘I’m sorry, please continue!’

BIKO, who wan continue?

Often times than not, I have witnessed numerous types of PDA within Lagos environs. From Oshodi to Ikoyi.

Lagosians are not really shy in displaying the doctrines of love in their relationships. The various show of affections I have seen have made me decide on the three unmissable types of PDA I want for myself as I gracefully move towards a marriageable age.

When I’m lucky enough to witness these actions, It’s either I find a corner to hide and watch in admiration or I just do a ‘waka pass’ if I find the situation absurd and disgusting. No vex for me mbok! I’m just being realistic.

Some people would be wondering already what I mean by PDA. No worries, I know some of us are not as ‘ghenghen’ as some of us. Some babes will even say, ‘See you, you are not even exposed’

PDA is known as Public Display of Affection, which was defined by the Urban Dictionary to be the act and form of kissing, touching, groping, licking, nuzzling, cuddling, crossing hands etc. Usually spotted among new couples, frisky teenagers, and occasionally the “young at heart”

In Deedee’s books though, PDA can simply be said to be the display of reasonable physical reaction publicly which will make your partner to feel loved and have a sense of belonging. This goes beyond just kissing, groping and touching ‘bums’ or what have you.

While there have been a lot of arguments by top relationship blogs on whether PDA is right or not, I am unconcerned because most times, I always seem to enjoy watching people engage in such. This post is not about whether couples should engage in PDA or not.

Funny enough, in my hay days as a relationship and romance baddo, I shrink at the thought of engaging in PDA with my boo and vice versa. You never know whether any of your side chicks are lurking around the corner, stalking you. Hehe!

I am so very ready for some loving right now and I believe that the positives that can be drawn from PDA (if done reasonable) far outweighs the negatives. I understand it has been sabotaged right now and a lot of naive and unreasonable couples now engage in that to probably create a virtual illusion that they are crazy about their boos, when in actual fact the reverse is the case.

Guys, una well done oh!

Bisi, Kike, Tade, Cynthia, Dora, Chanelle, Oyinda, Alice wherever and whoever you are. I am going to love you soon and biko, get ready for some PDA. I no wan hear say you be introvert..mbok! we go undo the cloth of introversion before we commot house.

Type 1: I like the holding hands type of PDA

I believe there is an emotional connection between two love birds when they hold hands in public. I know some of you might be wondering that holding hands do not necessarily connote to being a sign of PDA and it isn’t necessarily PDA, but to me, it is. I could as well hold hands with my sister or brother anyway, but the fact there is a difference when you hold your ‘boo’ hands in public.

Holding hands with my woman allows me to concentrate on her. Holding hands makes me feel wanted and focused on.

You know why I love handing hands? Because it can be anything from just being together, to communicating silently, to even pre-intimacy. Sexy, yea? I like!

You might belong to the class of individuals who never saw signs made by ladies that are interested in you, or you may have noticed signs of those high end advances and decided to grab the opportunity; taking advantage of the chance and hitting it bit time. You are one sharp guy, had your piece of cake and ate it!

Congratulations ‘Chief’.

Back in the days for me, I wasn’t that patient with ladies, as soon as I see a lady I’ m interested in, next thing is lean close and put on my inquisitive ‘three piece suit‘. Discovery time.. LOL

My spontaneity has gotten me in trouble plenty times, at that moment my interest beclouds every sense of reasoning and then I move close to the girl, more often than not, I get turned down.

Those times I lean close to discover that girl inside out, I noticed that getting to know whether she is flirting with me becomes really difficult.

Over the years, I have learned to be calm in the face of the initial ‘gra gra’. Mosttimes, I realize that these babes even pass messages that I don’t see. They hit on me and I don’t even notice. Gosh!

The last girlfriend I had in the University opened my eyes to the act of being hit on. Eating your cake and having it, and ever since then, I have grown to be very alert and seek out details when I noticed signs of interest from the opposite sex.

For those of you who belong to the school of thought that a guy has to make the first move. You are ‘OYO’ oh.

Most times when a babes likes you, she passes messages. You don’t expect some girl to walk up to you stating explicitly that she likes you (it takes a really brave girl to say that anyway, and if you have done that as a babe! KUDOS!)

The truth is, flirting is an art that takes time to master. It isn’t reflex most times and it isn’t unconscious as well. While we guys are the loud type when it comes to being attracted to women, the women are quite subtle. So it takes a man that is deeply aware of every word, gesture and glance that babe sends your way.

But while we’re not always the most attentive creatures on the face of the Earth, the lady who is interested has key indicators that should be noticeable to even a self proclaimed Mr Macho. hehe!!

There are some pointers that I would highlight below based on my experience in the act of ‘chasing’ babes. Ordinarily, a lady would expect that you notice these pointers as they are key indicators of her being flirty and hitting on you.

Here it is:

1. The way she smiles

I had to mention this because this is the simplest and easily excusable flirt at first. It is easy for a babe to smile at you because everyone smiles, yea? But it is funny that this can pass as being hit on or flirted on. While you think she just smiles like naturally, you may need to pay attention to decipher whether she is trying to be flirty or not. There is this ‘slow smile’ that tells you she wants you to talk to her.

It is not wry, forced or nervous. It usually happens when your eyes meet. Take note, she wants you to initiate a convo!

2. Lively banter

Whether your jokes are dry or not, ‘Cinderella‘ is already laughing away. A lady that’s attracted to you will laugh at anything that comes from your mouth. Note that if a babe is disinterested in you, she would give you one word responses or maybe a nod of the head, but if she is really involved in your conversation and you noticed a slight hint of nervousness from her, Gosh! She is into you!

3. She swings and twirls her hair when you are close

She touches her hair, like this stroking her hair to the back thingy, rolls her eyes, and then laughs at most of the jokes even you think is ‘dry’. Her laughs are short spasmic sorta, and she then covers her mouth like she is trying to avoid flies from jumping into it!

She will make some gestures that turns you on at that time, gestures you may pass as being natural and not necessarily meaning anything.

4. She touches you during conversation

Guys, if she touches you during most of your conversation. Code Red!, that’s huge, and she is into you. Let me indulge you a bit.

There are ways on how a babe passes messages by touching you in multiple ways when chatting. In most cases it comes between conversation and funny talks. When she touched you slightly in different places; chest, ears, nose and smacks you sexily during a convo, she is seriously hitting on you abeg!

However if she touches you freely and comfortable, multiple times maybe like gives you a punch or slaps your head, then she probably seems comfortable with you and sees you as a friend, she isn’t flirting.

You need to be careful when in this process as it could be difficult trying to differentiate between what a friendly touch and flirty touch could be. Only the smart are wise.

5. She is always trying to validate herself

Most of the girls who have hit on me usually look for ways to tell me about their values. They wre ready to impress me with loads of information about themselves. When you have noticed that a girl always try to mention her achievement, her accomplishments; facts about herself basically, then you have started that fire of attraction.

So my guys, if you meet a babe and then start a conversation but noticed that she is going off topic, I can ‘cook’. I love to dance, I had this degree, this and that…chatter that is inconsequential to the convo itself. Then she is totally into you.

Don’t dull, ask her out like ‘yesterday’, she will be more than happy to go out with you.

==========================================================================================

Wait mbok!…Some of you may have experienced this. Similar or not…Drop in and share your experiences…Let’s add to the five mentioned above.

What do you think?

Romance › I Found Your Soulmate And You Can Thank Me Later by deturla(op): 6:30am On Aug 13, 2016
We all keep looking out for someone to complete us. We grow up wrapped up in some fairy tale fantasy that there’s someone out there for us. A special someone designed specifically for us.

Someone that will like what we like and laugh at our jokes and would be there with us in the storm. We would meet this person, fall head over heels and this person will love us unconditionally despite our many imperfections. Our soulmate. The person to come and complete us.

We believe this fantasy of finding a soulmate in the perfect person. We watched it in all the movies growing up, the fairy tale ‘PRINCESS marries the PRINCE‘ our mothers tell us about ‘THE WOMEN MADE FOR US‘ society drums it into our system to wait for ‘MR RIGHT‘ and we go through life hooked on the notion that if we just looked harder, if we just tried harder, then someone might come and complete us.

We go around scanning everyone we meet, looking for signs that this time, the person we are with is “THE RIGHT ONE” Well look no further, I found you your soulmate and you will be surprised.

The human mind is powerful, we don’t lose faith easily, so we go through breakup after breakup, heartbreak after heartbreak, still looking forward, hoping that yet, the next person would be our soulmate. The one to complete us after all, and if we found this person, we would sail into happily ever after?

After all, didn’t sleeping beauty wake from her slumber after true love’s kiss? Did the prince not find Cinderella with the glass slippers? Even Fiona got the ogre, so of course there is a one out there. (And he is pretty handsome for an ogre)

But let’s stop to consider this; Even if there was a special someone out there designed specifically for us, that likes the same things that we like, its still not that simple. This person needs to live in our city (or at least visit the places that we might be). This person needs to speak our language and understand our tradition and obviously this person needs to be an image of perfection.

It’s clear, the odds are not very good! But don’t worry, you still have a soulmate. You might be thinking “that’s crazy, not me! I don’t want a perfect person”

Unfortunately; whether we like it or not, we all look for our soulmate in that perfect somebody that knows all the right answers and can do no wrong (after all, a soulmate is supposed to be your perfect fit right?) The prince out there. Or the Cinderella far away. But life is not a perfect fairy tale story and there is no one that will come and complete you! But that’s not to say you do not have a soulmate, I told you, I found your soulmate and he/she is not out there.

Yep; there is no soulmate out there for you. But there is one within the vicinity and its YOU. Yes, YOU. You are your own soulmate. Let’s face it, you are the only one who will love yourself unconditionally despite your many flaws, and you and you alone can make yourself truly happy. So now you know! You are a WHOLE PERSON period. You are the WHOLE DEAL and nothing is MISSING. You are THAT PERFECT SOMEONE that completes you and you, all of you, are your own SOULMATE.

You do not need any one to complete you cause you are complete.

So here are a few thoughts to embrace yourself in when going into a relationship and if you are already in a relationship, you can give your relationship a make over and start seeing both you and your partner in a new light.

1. You are a whole being and you don’t need any one to complete you. (You don’t want a relationship based on co-dependency)

2. You can be and should be happy alone. (Being single doesn’t have to mean you are lonely and unhappy)

3. You have something to offer. (You are not a poor princess or in a slumber, no one is doing you a favor being with you)

4. You love yourself (And you don’t have time for anyone who would not love and respect you)

5. So once you have memorized these simple facts, you will begin to look at relationships in a new light and trust me, it will become easier to leave mediocre relationship and focus on amazing relationships with amazing people who don’t have to be perfect or be “the one” but are amazing all the same.

Unless you started out with the kind of Cinderella love story, then it is suffice to say that this post is not meant for you.

The thing is, not all of us actually find that amount of luck and awesomeness to truly conclude that our relationship was made in heaven. Majority of the ladies presently reading this post has at one time or the other gotten into a relationship that hit rock bottom.

Sometimes, the reasons why our relationships went off the rails is beyond us, we try to pin point what exactly happened, not reaching any reasonable conclusion, but in most cases and times, there is this moment of clarity and then calling the relationship off becomes inevitable.

I am sure there will be a moment or even moments when it hits you like ‘ a deep punch on your face and then you realize that it’s time to call it quits and drop the relationship baton.

There are so many girls out there, even young ladies of marriageable age who are in the present situation, but are tied to the guys because they believe the relationship is still worth a shot.

Have you had that moment when you felt your relationship was not worth the effort? That point you realized your relationship is a lost cause. There is no point saving a lost individual anymore.

Please share by dropping your comments below. Let us learn from you, As I usually try to preach, experienceis the best teacher and while you are there enjoying your new relationship/marriage, please share that defining moment you gave up on your past relationships with us.

Let us Learn…

Yours in Love

It was the sound of my phone ringing that woke me up. I must have slept off while waiting for you to come. I stood up and picked up the phone. It was you calling me. I pressed the green button and waited for you to say something funny. You were good at playing pranks and I would not give in. The voice I heard wasn’t yours. Someone was talking to me but I could not hear a thing. The man was saying nonsense; at least that was I thought. Maybe it was network playing pranks on me. I severed the call and called your number back. It was the same story; I was needed at some private hospital at surulere not so far from his apartment, you were in a coma. I hurriedly wore your jalamia, that one you always leave by the door. I wore bathroom slippers and drove like a mad person to the hospital. I got there and met your sister. She looked at me and started crying. I began screaming and jerking the nurse near me to tell me what was going on. She only told me to be calm, that the best of the doctors were attending to you. I couldn’t be calm. I paced the waiting area and refused to be consoled. Your sister tried, she hugged me and told me soothing words but nothing worked. Then your father came in. He was a very busy man but he loved you dearly. He went straight to the doctor, denial etched on his face. The doctor took him by the hand and practically dragged him to his office. If it was another place and time, I would have laughed at the picture it painted in my mind. Some minutes later, your dad came out of the office. He looked twenty year older than his age and his usual strong demeanor had thawed. I rushed to him and he looked at me with pity. It was then I knew you were gone. A lone tear had escaped from their confines and was trickling down your dad’s face. The tear rooted my suspicion and I couldn’t remember what happened after then.

I woke up and found myself in a hospital bed. Your parents were there and your sister too. My parents were outside talking to a doctor. You weren’t there with them. I shut my eyes and started crying. Your mom could not stand it, she started crying too. Your sister came to my side and said all kinds of sweet things to calm me down. I did not want to hear those words, I wanted you to come but you never did. You were gone forever.

That was two months ago and it still feels like the first day. My mom said the jalamia stinks but I don’t care, I’m going to wear it everyday till you come back. She told me to stop wearing the ring too. They found the ring in your car and a journal with the still-life you plastered all over the pages. That was the surprise you had for me, you wanted to propose to me but you never came back to me. You never even claimed that part of me that was to be yours eternally. You promised never to leave me but you left when we were just about to start another journey together. You wrote that in the journal. You wrote that I will never be alone, that you will always be my side everywhere I go and that was the reason you had your pictures all over the pages, so I can stare at you no matter where I am. I don’t want the still-life you, I want the real you. I want the five years of my life back, I want my true love back, I want my true happiness back. I’m a living corpse without you, I want you back. I know they think I’m mad but I’m not. I’ve not even taken off the lingerie. I want you to see me like the picture I sent to you, so I’m here, waiting for you to come and claim what’s yours; me. Till you come, I’ll never stop talking to the walls.

“What’s up, doll?”, he said playfully toying with a miniature statue of black haired lady with a serious look on her face, holding a pen and a paper in her hands. It was a gift from you. You told me it reminded you of me.

You told me the lady looked just as serious as I looked whenever I was busy with work especially when the deadline was near and the fact that I was a writer/chief editor, the pen and the paper was just a plus that really showed the statue was really meant for me. It was not the gift I was expecting on our 3rd year anniversary but it was so thoughtful of you that I forgave you immediately for not buying what I wanted.

I slapped his hands off the doll and gave him instructions on what he should do for me. I told him about the change in plans for the night and he gave me a smile that showed he approved of it. I shook my head and placed my laptop in its pouch and packed the essential documents into a folder before dumping them into my hand bag. He hugged me and wished me a wonderful night. He whispered some obscene words in my ears and I gave him a light punch on his shoulders.

I smiled as I left the building. Even if my assistant didn’t tell me to, I planned to give you the best part of me; that part of me I had reserved for you if we made to the 5th year. I got home and took a luxury bath. I used the bubble gel that you loved so much; the one with rose water and goat milk. You told me it made my skin soft and it smelled heavenly. After the luxury bath, I rubbed sweet smelling oil on my body; I wanted to drive you crazy just with the way I smelled. I was putting on the black leather lingerie complete with garter belts, whips and cuffs when I got a message from you.

I rolled my eyes as I read your text. You wanted to me to send the picture of what I was wearing at that moment. I sent a “tongue-out” smiley to you and told you to be patient. You replied with the “sad” and “crying” smiley and I could not help but smile. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to send you the glimpse of what you were going to feast on, so I took two sexy pictures; one with the cuff and the other with the whip. I made sure the picture captured everything. You called almost immediately after I sent the picture and was whistling. I laughed and you told me I looked so hot. Not that you had not seen me almost naked before. There was a time we almost did it but you restrained yourself and that even made me love you more. You were short of words, all you did was whistle and I kept on laughing. I told you I would soon be on my way to your apartment and you told me you would join me soon. So I wore a long summer dress over my lingerie and drove the short distance to your apartment.

I quickly re-arranged your room, changed your sheets and poured the rose petals I brought with me. I dimmed the light till it gave the effect that I wanted; like the moonlight. It was perfect just as I had imagined my first night would be. I rushed to kitchen and brought out two flutes from the cabinet. I brought out the wine and wrapped it expertly in a silk scarf like my assistant had taught me, then I kept in the bucket of ice. I took it to the room and kept it on the small table beside your bed; your cherished footstool. Satisfied with the work I had done, I put on the i-pod and was glad when the melancholy voice of adele filled the room. You used to tease me about adele all the time. I would feign being hurt and you would explain how I need not listen to songs about heartbreaks when I had a man who wouldn’t break my heart. You told me to start listening to happy songs; beautiful love songs from Beyonce.

I would roll my eyes at you and increase the volume. It was no news you loved beyonce so much that you wished I would love her that much too. Fact is, it had started growing on me but I would never let you know. I wanted you to love Adele too. I got bored after a while and you told me not to cook, you had something special ordered from my favorite restaurant. I picked my phone and called you but got no response, I imagined you were driving back home already. I removed the summer dress I was putting on and kept it in the wardrobe. Clad in only the leather lingerie, I sat on the bed and waited for my man to come. I would have made the best 5th year anniversary gift......

It was supposed to be the perfect night of my life. I had called you earlier that day to remind you to make reservations at oceanview for our dinner date but you told me you had a better idea. We would go somewhere solemn, somewhere the two of us could talk without being interrupted by the noise made by other customers in the restaurant. You told me you had a surprise for me and because you were just too shy for your own good, you decided your apartment would be great. I argued about how I wanted that night to be really romantic and special. You told me not to worry, that it would be the best night of my life. I teased you about trying to get us to be alone.

You just laughed and I knew if I was there, you could have playfully spanked my ass. Your laughter reminded me of the first time we met; that was five years ago and the novelty still had not worn out. As every day passed, I found myself drowning farther into the depth of love and I loved the way I felt. You made me feel like there was no end to what love was. We could lie in each other’s arms all day without talking much and still feel like we just had the best conversation. More than often, I would wonder what I did to deserve a man so loving as you. I was so lost in my day dream that I did not hear what you said. You said goodbye with the belief that I picked every word you said.

I dropped the call and called my P.A to come into my office through the office’s intercom. Within seconds, my docile assistant was in my office. He smiled as he usually did and sat on the chairs. We were very close; he was like the brother I always craved for while growing up.............

I have been doing bits of poems and stuff since like forever, but was scared to develop on it. This one is my first poem sorta on the blog. What d you guys think?

Cough, Huff, Puff
You will see them
In their droves they arrive
Enmasse they survive

They dress outrageously
Skimpily and Unreasonably
A straight boy’s palava
A young man’s dilemma

Their diminished sense
Is no match for my 1 pence
Their insecurities blow
off their skins like heaven’s snows

Available to scavenge
Ready to devour
Get set to dine with the devil
If you think you rank high in girl’s evils

They will make you a dumpsite
For all their selfish highs
Your investments are gone of course
The moment you decide to discuss
