Maxxim:Coding addict is the worst teacher in the world. An absolute waste of time. I don't go to free code camp anymore because of him, because I feel if they can keep putting out his rubbish content, I wonder what other rubbish they are putting out. For Node JS and MERN Stack, just use Dave Gray. That guy is a blessing. He goes straight to the point and knows how to teach. If you understand his tutorial on a topic, every other tutorial will seem like child's play. |
These YouTubers are popular, with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, but will only waste your time when you are learning front end web developement. John Smilga from Coding Addict: This guy probably has shares in freeCodeCamp as they always feature his poor quality videos. This guy will waste your time. He spends hours explaining very basic concepts, and doesnt give time to the really important ones. You will spend hours on his videos and only end up learning 1% of what you want to learn. Avoid him at all cost. Anytime you see his videos on FreeCodeCamp YouTube page, just skip. He is a time wasting idiot. Brad Traversy from Traversy Media: This guy just brushes the surface of anything he teaches. He is a complete waste of time and never beginner friendly. The only time he drops useful content for beginners is in his Udemy videos which you have to pay for, but his YouTube content is crap. Clever Programmer: This one is a fraud. He has zero teaching skills and just focuses on "guiding" you though dumb ass projects. He doesn't even know JavaScript let alone React, but purports to be a king in these languages. He is from a Python background and even at that, he still can't teach python. If you are a beginner wanting to learn Programming, sse these channels instead. CSS - Kevin Powell, Dave Gray. Sass, Tailwind and BEM - Coder Coder, NetNinja, Dave Gray. JavaScript - Dave Gray, BroCode, WebDevSimplified. Python - Tech with Tim React - PapaReact, BenAwad, DaveGray, WebDevSimplified, NetNinja, Code with Basir In fact, Dave Gray's videos on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Tailwind, React and Redux, combined with tids and bits from the others I have listed, along with you building projects on your own, are enough to facilitate your learning as a beginner front end developer. |
Kvngfrosh:Videos will explain the steps and any other thing you need to learn. Only an idiot time waster reads books on programming. Whatever books will teach you in 3 hours, a good tutorial video will teach you in 30 minutes. |
abisoye2:Just screenshot your laptop screen using the windows button + print key on your keyboard, instead of posting blurry photos that no one wants to see.. |
Going from reading some book on programming to building an App will take you 10 times the time using a video course would. |
Kvngfrosh:I've read all the so called "quality" books recommended here, on Reddit and on Quora. They are all trash. The only parts worth reading are the introduction and table of contents. They don't explain anything; just poor examples and pointless ramblings. |
Techstar:You are a clown. So you want to be doing all the rubbish document.querySelector and all the rubbish appendChild nonsense when you could easily just do {} ? Saying vanillaJavaScript is better than React is like saying using Mortar and Pestle is better than using a blender. |
I was wrong. Thread closed. |
TheManOfTheYear:Replying to yourself. Lol. At this point you should be considered clinically insane. |
Sleekcode, I can see you are obsessed with me. I'm not surprised though, I mean who wouldn't? I'm smarter than most people, and I'm also a very interesting individual with a huge reservoir of knowledge. People like you can only but be filled with admiration and intrigue when you encounter me. At the rate I'm learning to code, I'll be miles ahead of you in no time, since all you do is jump from thread to thread like a possessed lunatic looking for who to cast your frustrations upon. I would have called you useless, but that would be an insult to that word. You are beyond useless. You are a blot on the face of humanity, a scoundrel, a cunt and a pathetic excuse for a human being. You will forever remain bitter until the earth takes its breath from you and gives it to someone more deserving. |
TheManofTheYear aka AlchemyOfCodes aka CodeWithRemi is actually in need of serious mental evaluation. This level of trolling isn't normal. How can one person keep fabricating fake, well detailed experiences about himself, using multiple accounts? Na ment? |
TheManofTheYear === CodeWithRemi === AlchemyOfCodes. Same person. |
CodeWithRemi:Using your alternate account to quote yourself as a way of dispelling my accusations. Maybe if you stopped creating all your alternate accounts the same way, and stopped doing the diary thing on all of them, maybe I would find it harder spotting you. All same dairy-style accounts. All with camel case usernames. You are too sloppy. |
AlchemyOfCodes:Log into your TheManOfTheYear account and respond to my accusations. I know you value that account more because of the level of deceit you were able to achieve with it. I have an IQ of 138. I'm smarter than most people you've met. It would take a lot to fool me. I never accused AlchemyOfCodes of hiding his Identity. I accused TheManOfTheYear but you are defending the accusation with your AlchemyOfCodes account. You've just made another huge error.. My biggest fear creating this account was that you would ignore this thread. But like a prey you walked straight into my trap. |
Screenshot of AlchemyOfCodes forgetting he was commenting on his older thread. Mistakes like this often happen when someone switches between accounts a lot. I applaud his fiction writing skills though. He successfully fooled thousands of people.

I've been going through a lot of threads on this section to gain more insight on my chosen career. It's better to learn from the experiences of otherz. Few minutes ago, I stumbled on a thread created by TheManofTheYear detailing how he worked hard to get a job as a front end developer as well as his technical writing gigs he got. This is the thread: https://www.nairaland.com/7100014/job-hunting-experiences-junior-developer One thing that struck me was the writing style. It was too elaborate and very detailed. Almost like he sat down to carefully think about every single detail, as opposed to someone who was just writing his recent experiences. It struck me as fake. As a fiction writer in my spare time, this was very evident to me. Well, as with most frauds, he made a mistake which to be honest I was surprised he didn't detect. He commented on his TheManofTheYear thread with his AlchemyofCodes account and posted as if he was writing on the thread he created with his AlchemyofCodes account. Obviously he forgot he was posting on his other thread and not on the new one. Bottom line: Everything written by TheManofTheYear and AlchemyofCodes account are all made up. It's a troll behind both accounts. Probably an ASUU strike student who wanted to test his fictional writing skills and deceive everyone on Nairaland, well except me. This adds up if you consider both usernames are written the same way and that both also write the same fuçking way; detailing cock and bull stories about their lives as if they were writing a diary. This is even the deadest give away. Also TheManofTheYear was careful not to reveal his identity, even when people were pleading to chat with him offline. He also never posted a link to his GitHub or any of his projects that could reveal his identity |
Skodrran:Udemy and YouTube for videos. The Odin project and MDN for websites and online documentation. gen.lib.rus.ec for books. Udemy is paid; but around 5000 to 6000 Naira per course but you can get free udemy courses on sites like this: https://freecourselabs.com The books and YouTube videos are free. But I'm on unlimited WIFI so I could just easily download the videos at 720p through genyoutube |
Yes, stop paying people to teach you Amazon KDP. I'll use my story to prove my point. I got an interest in Amazon KDP in August. Prior to that I used to write essays and short stories just as a hobby. But I was always a voracious reader. I have a background in medicine and Engineering as well as interests in history, literature, politics and cultural studies. So after hearing about the residual income Amazon KDP provides, I decided to do my own research. Research has always been something I have a knack for. I can spend hours exploring a subject and this would lead me to newer subjects and eventually I'll begin making forays into rabbit holes. This was how I discovered the necessary tools I needed to make some money through Amazon KDP. I found every information I needed online. YouTube, Reddit and to some minor extent, Nairaland, were main sources of information and this was all I needed. In a week I learned everything I needed to learn: ~ How to create attractive, professional looking book covers using canva. ~ How to do keyword research and the additional tools I needed for this. ~ Learned how to write to the market. ~ Learned how to format for Kindle and for Paperback ~ I learned the right font size, font type and cover template sizes for my paperbacks. ~ Learned how to hyperlink table of contents to my Kindle book ~ Learned how to publish correctly in order to avoid getting banned. ~ Learned how to use quillBot to properly edit my book. I published two books in August, both of them in Paperback and Kindle format and got positive reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. Asides learning how to connect your payooneer account to your KDP account, avoid Nigerian YouTube accounts that try to "teach" you how to make money from KDP. Those people are useless. In fact all Nigerian YouTube accounts that try to teach you how to make money online are useless. The worst are these guys on Nairaland that try to sell their poorly written books to you with the promise of turning you into a KDP God in a short period of time. Avoid those clowns. Most of what they teach you will get your accounts banned in no time. Just do your own research. We are currently in an age where knowledge is easily accessible, and for free. Stop spending money on quacks. Unless you have a 2 digit IQ, you can learn how to make money from KDP on your own. Currently I'm learning web development. I started in September just after publishing my two books. Already learned HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Currently learning React and Typescript and tackling Leetcode and HackerRank DSA type questions. I am still getting royalties from my books. I'm very focused on my web development journey, but in the future I'll release more books. Below is the screenshot of the emails Amazon sent me concerning my royalty payment from the sales I made in August. I'll get paid on the 29th of this month. I edited out my name and personal information. Keep working hard and smart. Everything is possible.

ProfAyomi:The bolded is impossible. Don't kid yourself. |
tensazangetsu20 I'll really appreciate your opinion on this issue. |
As a someone who is currently learning front end web development, research has led me to the realization that these days companies test both front end and back end developers on their knowledge of Data structures and Algorithms. The interviews are typically structured in styles similar to what you see in Leetcode and hackerRank. JavaScript is currently the only language I know. People have advised to also concentrate on JavaScript at the backend with nodejs. But the problem is that you almost never see DSA learning resources for JavaScript. HackerRank doesn't even list JavaScript as one of the langauges to practice those sorts of questions. In most interviews the candidates are asked to choose between Python, Java and C family languages. How does a frontend dev practice DSA? What is the best language to learn Data structures and Algorithms? |
qtguru:Replied. |
Sleekcode:I can't keep exchanging words with a troll like you because I'm currently busy as you can see in the screenshot below. Being a Nairaland troll will be your biggest ever achievement. Keep wasting your life roaming threads on Nairaland looking for who to insult. Waste of sperm. If you look clearly you will see I gave you a cameo in my code. Idiot.
|
fastanddubious:I only "bashed" the two trolls that have been insulting me for no reason. |
Fadafada231:Going back would mean starting from scratch. I'm already in my late 20s. I'm too old for that and medicine is already a dead field in this country. Besides, I love this path I've chosen. More opportunities, more heights to reach and I can channel my creativity into it. |
Sleekcode:I got admitted to study Medicine at a top 5 federal University in Nigeria with a Jamb score of 314 and 7 distinctions in Waec, and for Engineering I scored 14/15 in Jupeb(A level) at another top 5 federal University. That's Two As in Mathematics and Chemistry respectively, and a B in Physics. I dare you to get half of these results. You think getting into medical school or getting 14/15 in an A level exam is beans? Clown. |
Sleekcode:It's 'Little wonder' not 'No little wonder' By saying "no little wonder" you are expressing the direct opposite of your intended opinion. Take note, dolt. I can't believe I have to also teach people basic English language on a thread I created to seek advice. |
Thermodynamics:I insulted the guy because he insulted me first. He didn't give me any advice, or even try to, and as such he didn't deserve any courtesy from me. How can you predicate your evaluation of my intelligence on my reponse to someone who insulted me when I asked for advice? You don't judge a person's intelligence based on whether or not they entertain derogatory remarks. That's simply a consequence of their personality. Intelligence in my opinion is the ability to think critically, to understand abstract concepts and to apply that understanding in solving problems. Despite my rude response to that clown, I still solved the problem for which this thread was created. |
Tobedated:Thanks. I know I will make it. I just need to be disciplined. Learning fast has never been my problem. My biggest problem has always been avoiding distraction and staying focused. |
Sleekcode:It doesn't take 5 years to do an IQ test. |
SeunWedsLinda:He probably imbibed the Wakanda bullshit that marvel made up to massage the egos of ignorant, delusional black people. |
I know right. I'm yet to understand while i should be disturbing myself with hooks, when i can use plain old css and js. All the same, i am gradually beginning to fall in love react. Besides, everyone can't be wrong. Most people keep saying react is a great platform, it certainly must be cool.
