I look at PE, the way Peter Lynch does.

If the PE is 20 and the average earning growth in the last 3 years is 25%, I think the company is good compared to a company with a PE of 5 and an average earning growth of 4%

EXACTLY MY POINT
Revenue growth is what I really look out for
Plus being a market leader too

With the way things are going in Nigeria

Are you still sitting on the fence when it comes to "expatriating"?

Bill Ackman is one of my mentors
Indeed sir
He makes investment look so simple
Even though there is still the risk element to it

Though I take his viewpoint on the ideal P/E ratio with a grain of salt though
It does not apply to all industries in my opinion
For me, even if the P/E ratio is very ballooned
If there is outstanding year on year revenue growth
I think I'll still give that company a chance

As per the knowledge displayed, you should know that almost any subject has been discussed on this nairaland alone, talkless of scanning the breath of google. It is all here littered in thousands of threads, if you know how to search, you can effectively access what ever info u want with varying degrees of depth.

I am not saying anyone is less informed o.

I'm not the same as TransatlanticEX
We are two very different people grin

You are actually giving me advice on passive income?? Hilarious grin. What do you know about passive investments??

When did you finish school? When did you start investing? And what is that stock that earned you your first dividend ‘years ago’? I’d really like to know.

Ps: Betting doesn’t count as investing o
As for you.. .
I dont even know where to start with you....

This comment has changed like chameleon over three times
You edited and edited it again
So.....
Here is what I have to say to you..

1) I am well qualified (both in education and work experience) to discuss that topic at hand where you erroneously said that there is no correlation whatsoever between passive income and unearned income
I have my undergrad degree in economics,
my post grad degree,
an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (by virtue of where I work, i qualify to be a fellow in three years from this day, fellow professionals here can decode where i work from the comment i just made )
And while i was still fancying the idea of canada, I wrote and swiftly passed the CIMA Certificate in Business accounting qualification, just for the fun of it
And by 2021 March, After I put APM to rest, I will be an ACCA member

I normally shouldn't be doing this, but I just had to spell it out; so you know that I am not a charlatan who just comes here to talk just because he likes to talk lipsrsealed

If I criticise the CBN governor
I have the locus standi to, because he is not more qualified than I am
He is only older than me, and have more years of experience under his belt
Take that away from him
And we are both even
Thankfully some of the frantic moves he has made over the past week makes some sense.
I hope he continues on that trajectory

2) As for my investment journey.
While I have been in this journey for a couple of years now, never did I claim that I was an "experienced investor " like you alleged
Yes I am not a newbie
Cos I've been in this for quite a while
But I'm yet to get to the level of Sir Emmanuel Ewumi yet
And to answer your question
The first stock I ever recieved dividend in, that made me so happy, was UBA cheesy
Hope I have answered your question

3) You spoke about betting
Well, I had a short stint in it, and have quit years ago, because it's very addictive
Fortunately for me, the net gains from my misadventures there is still sitting in my brokerage account today cos I used the Proceeds to buy some equities
It's time consuming and not worth it
So I wont advise anyone to go down that road
Not every one was fortunate to exit like I did without a financial blowout

4) Dont you think it is ridiculous to baselessly claim that I and Logo Benz and Transatlantic are the same person?

Normally I'd have "resisted the urge to shalaye" like brother Ojesymsym would advise
Because I'm not obligated to ..

But I'll just clear the air on certain things...
That's all

First, me and Transatlantic are not the same person
Its hilarious to think anyone would allege that lipsrsealed

Protest won't make sense again in Nigeria because they will use thugs to make it violent, they will infiltrate it with their men and cause havoc, then they will have a reason to arrest protesters, the only way the protest will make sense is, if everyone is involved, both the police, the army, if we all use one mind, at least the police is crying for none payment and the 50 naira they used to collect and help them selves is no more, so everyone has to be involved to say enough is enough. What am I typing self? It won't work, we are too divided to be united.

"We are too divided to be united "

I have been banned by the anti spam bot for days now
That's why I have not been able to comment there

Some of the comments there are highly ridiculous, and would be addressed once this anti spam bot releases my account to comment again on the investment section
Under normal circumstances, I would have taken your advise, and "resist the urge to "shalaye"
But this time, I think I need to do just that

Imagine the guy seeking my attention, up to the point of even accusing me of being an alternate account for Transatlantic and Logobenz lol.
Anyways, till the anti spam bot let's me comment again

*Provision of Basic western Education
*Ban the public use of burga
*Regulating the Activities and sermons of Imams
*Jettisoning Almajiri system totally
*Encouraging family planning amongst the locals
*Having Community policing but not must hand over every criminal to police for prosecution
*Empowering the courts for fair and swift despatch of justice
*Reducing the numbers that go for hajj and also monitoring their movement

Basic education
Cancel the western part out of it

Even though I'm scared of marriage but the feeling I get when my babe is sleeping over is enriching. I sometimes wonder how it would feel when this sleeping over happens everyday...
I disagree

Some of the greatest men ever, who changed the course of humanity FOREVER were childless and without family

Some live to harness themselves for it.

Some would set no other goal & do nothing else but look forward to the excitement of being married.

For a man or a woman, Is marriage and having kids an achievement?

When a man or a woman decides by choice not to have kids or get married, does it in anyway affect them?

What are the core importance of being married or getting married.

Is having children paramount in marriage?

Its instinctive to do
Hence it's no special achievement

If I’m making 500m per annum on base salaries alone, why would I be concerned about Tbill yields or NSE returns? grin

That's because there is a clear distinction between EARNED and UNEARNED income

UNEARNES INCOME dey sweet to collect
I remember when I recieved my first dividend years ago
It felt very good lol

Talk less of just passively investing 10% of that N500m on selected stocks and maybe other instrument
In 6 years the passive income/cash flow will be something to cheer you up

No matter how much you make

Politics / Re: Why Have Nigerians Abandoned Marina District In Lagos? by DexterousOne(m): 6:21pm On Dec 03, 2020
Aconomist:
You don't understand real estate. Marina is full of space, we are just wasting it. Even in the picture above, you can see many short wasteful buildings. In a white country, buildings like that would have been demolished to make way for skyscrapers. That is why cities like Dubai and New York are so tall. They build taller buildings to CREATE more space.

Us Africans are very stagnant people. Even with the astronomical rents on Victoria Island, most of the buildings are still 1 --5 stories. Why shouldn't rent be astronomical in a city of 20 million people with tiny buildings? Weep for Nigeria.

You are right

Growing up in the 80s, I saw what love, generosity, selflessness and loyalty were. Life from Y2K onward is not just strange but disturbing. Nothing is done for gratis anymore. Every gesture now is a bait. Even love now is transactional. People don't help, even their close relatives without expecting something in return.
