InvertedHammer: Think about the mindset of a Nigerian.
Mr. A works for XYZ. He has a credit limit of N500,000. And in this era of uncertainty, Mr. A is fired on Friday. He walks into his bank and maxed out on his cash back. Worst case scenario, he will have a bad credit. No jail time, no asset s foreclosure because credit cards debts are unsecured loans. Repeat this similar scenario a thousand times. Will collection agencies work in Nigeria? Will the banks hire Samoans with baseball bats to collect on deliquent accounts?
The best a bank can do is give credit backed by the amount in the individual's account. Then it defeats the whole concept of credit facility. Because of the peculiarities of the Nigerian factor, I think it should be secured to mitigate against risk(s) involved. Proper documentation and T&C should cover this!. And talking about collection agencies, there are debt recovery agencies(debt factoring) in Nigeria and they work!!!. And what do you mean by giving credit backed by the amount in the individual's account? You know I can clear my account and the bank cannot freeze my account without securing a court order first? |

StillBrandnew: Corruption cannot be totally killed, it can only be reduced while 10% to 15% unemployment may be achievable in the long run. However, with the BVN in place, debt recovery would be a lot easier.
@donvicky2007 I believe there is enough cyber security in place already and the debit and prepaid cards they issue presently are also being used online. How does BVN relate to effective debt recovery or rather, easier debt recovery? Please educate me. Even without the use of credit cards in Nigeria, the debt portfolios of their clients keeps increasing because recovery officers either do nothing, are somehow intimidated by the debtors and/or management approve loans without considering their risk appetite. And to think this is for both the established and somewhat established set of individuals!!! Money that shareholders should be getting as dividend on their investment is used for contingency reserve and insurance for non-performing loans!! |

Quakertellicus1: As usual there would be the jokes about Ajala the traveller.....forgetting that presidential trips are necessary to build contacts that might be useful for the country.
I may criticise any of our leaders....but when it comes to their foreign trips...I keep quiet.(Goes for the past admin too...before anyone jumps on me). You are so damn right!!!! There is even no need sending an ICPC/EFCC representative, after all he is the leader and when he gets back, they can hear it from the horse's, or rather the BULLharry's mouth!!!! Carry go Mr President!!!!. Fulfill your bucket list and enjoy the reward of your winning |

Ajala has done it again!!!! And who told you he has to send a representative to the summit? What makes you think that someone from EFCC or ICPC ought to have gone since they are the ones entrusted with such challenges that faces Nigeria? Ajala should be the one because he needs to visit his daughter, do medical check-up and enjoy a better life out of the woes of Nigeria where he gets to think about his cattles and count the scores in respect of his Foolhanis brothers on the loose!!!!! |

onismate: Here is a beautiful and inspiring story of how this young lady got a job that changed her life.
I want to share this beautiful life experience of mine, how I got a job that changed my life.
The next day I just abandoned my hotel job and went to his (MD’s) office to see him. He was kind of angry that I didn’t call for over two months he gave me his card. I no hide myself ooo. I told him I was In need of a good job when he asked me some few questions about me. Well, he told me that his bank is currently recruiting and they gave him only one slut. Though he has a cousin of his who needs the job, he reserved the slutfor him. but as it is, he will collect the both of us CV, any one the company picks from the both of us is the lucky one. I thanked him so much.

I am not actually surprised by Wike's actions Given how much he fought for his mandate and know that Ameachi would still want to be using Federal might to frustrate all his efforts, He has no choice but to perform in order to impress the people of Rivers just to endear them to him. We all know Wike cannot join ACN(Amaechi wouldn't allow this!!) So as a PDP governor, he may want to prove that voting out PDP in the last elections was a mistake by the Nigerian people. Unfortunately, so far,so good, he has been right!!!!! |

The truth is that when the few real men approach most of these ladies for relationships, they are often turned down by our ladies, all they want is an already made man. It's a sad one |

bee444: The guy is still in Albany, New York. Conference finishes soon. He actually wanted to stay behind to make room for him applying for a residency visa or find a person to settle down with.
People talking about hotels and going back to Nigeria dont understand the story or struggle behind his journey. He went to the conference with only $120 in his pocket. He struggled to come up with ticket money. Friends and foes have to gather and contribute the ticket money.
Going back to Nigeria so soon will be seen as failure for him. He wont have another chance again. He still has valid visa till 2017. Help comes in different form. Oh so this is the story!!! Good luck to him!!!! Like someone has advised, if you need help, go to the church or mosque!!!! Woow!! $120? He is even better than Tony Montana that came on a boat with no dollar but a dream!!!!! bee444: Hi Nailanders,
My cousin travelled to the US a week ago for a Art conference ( he is on a business visa). The Art Residency as its called is still ongoing and will finish soon.
He made an arrangement with his friend in Ohio that after the conference he would be coming over to stay with him. When he got to the US, he called his friend and the friend started ignoring his calls. He finally got through but the friend told him that he has changed his mind that he should look for somewhere else to stay.
Cousin is disappointed, and doesn't have anybody or place to stay after the conference. The conference is in New york. The Art organizers provided him with accommodation until the end date of the conference.
Nairalanders, I need your help to assist this brother.
Thank you His friend may have changed his mind knowing that his lifestyle in America is nothing to write home about hence must have been ashamed to let your cousin stay with him. How old is your cousin? He can travel to the States without having a contingency plan Go to an hotel or motel. A lot of cheap motels are available!!! |
