DivaC: I used Wakanow recently, on my trip to London and I was blown away by their excellent customer service. Not only did they help me get my visa in record time they also called me to remind me about my flight prior takeoff. Their customer service is also one of the best I've come across in Nigeria, the way they empathised with me when I couldn't get good transit time was just exceptional. I also heard they have fast response times on their social media pages even though I haven't had cause to refer to that yet. cool
you've posted this three times this year, instead of painting your company white, why not resolve customer complaint and take criticism on the chin

sometimes i get iffy when people start taking things private, i was hoping the whole thing will be discussed on the thread if/when it eventually kicked off

WebmastersRe: Mark Zuckerberg To Visit Akwa Ibom Next Month by DisGuy: 12:20pm On Apr 13, 2013
berem: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is to visit Akwa Ibom in next month, the Niger Delta Young Professionals, a non governmental group, has said.

Facebook is a social networking service launched in February, 2004, with over one billion active users.

The Chairman of the Niger Delta Young Professional, Mr Moses Siasia, made the announcement when he paid a courtesy visit on Gov. Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom on Friday.

Siasia said that Zuckerberg had been invited as one of the guest speakers during his groups youth economic summit, scheduled to hold in Uyo from May 28 to May 29.

The chairman said that young professionals from the Niger Delta were coming together to promote entrepreneurship, looking at economic challenges in the area.

Siasia commended Akpabio for transforming the state through infrastructure such as good roads, healthcare and education.

Responding, Akpabio told the group to put in their best in their chosen professions, adding that success could only come with hard work.

The governor pledged his support towards the hosting of the summit, commending the youths for not engaging in militancy.

justwise: I doubt it kicked off, judging by the last complain in that thread it seems that someone was duped.

My advice to people getting involved in this one is.... don't hand your money to the op, he has been exposed here before as somebody with a questionable character, he is basically one of those dodgy visa agents
really? i didn't even know that last post was related to the thread until i read the whole thing again

will try to email those that are still active on nairaland

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Banks Cheated Customers By N6bn In 2012- Sanusi by DisGuy: 11:04am On Apr 12, 2013
BarryX: 6billion is definitely underestimated, Personally i lost quite a sum due to mistaken account number of which i am still 'digging' it out with the bank since last year and with way things are going i might yield coupled with hidden maintenance charges, nobody has really given me the full details of what the f*kin ATM card maintenance fee is all about. If i am allowed to give their cheating figure, i would say all their profits for last year.
Oh please dont say this in public, apparently we not meant to say bad things about our institutions we dont want to scare away investors and customers now do we?
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Banks Cheated Customers By N6bn In 2012- Sanusi by DisGuy: 10:58am On Apr 12, 2013
Boss13: Sanusi, you seem to forget all too soon that you were part of the banking system and also your top priority job is to boost confidence in the banking system.
Your utterances sometimes, sanusi, makes me question your ability to lead. Fyi your recent and previous acts are scaring customers and potential investors away from the Nigerian banking industry. Customers are transferring their monies offshore. Honestly, I do not say there are no irregularities in the system - they are. However, don't be too quick to rush to the media. You are reporting yourself this man.
It is only in Nigeria that banks post huge profits and no significant improvement in the economy. That alone is a huge indicator that something fishy is going on and that is the no 1 headache you need to cure.
Sanusi, please learn from history. "You talk too much".
there a similiar cases in other countries and alerting the public is part of confidence building! all this hush hush business does more harm than good, atleast I as a customer would like to know something is being done and some crooked banker is being shamed in public!

Four banks will now compensate tens of thousands of small businesses who were mis-sold complex insurance deals, says the Financial Services Authority.

CareerRe: What Extremely Successful People Were Doing At Age 25 by DisGuy: 8:16pm On Apr 11, 2013
lyricalpreacher: I was actually expecting to read local contents. Most of the people you listed are in advanced countries where the challenges are different(though not necessarily easier). The topic was catchy but no real depth. Their stories are motivating no doubt but I believe a lot more people wld be able to relate to stories about successful nigerians on what they were doing at 25.
true

seems people find it hard to tell their success stories or perhaps could just be a cultural thing, or we are just paranoid-winches from the village grin

I also notice most[not all] 'inspirational' articles in Nigeria are about people in other countries, some don't even fit in

fiscalcliff: Morning thread contributors who spit insight by their replies,
1]What is the maximum amount per transaction from a British ATM [In Nigeria its 20-40k depending on the bank]?
What is the total daily transaction I can take from a British ATM [In Nigeria its 150k]?

2]Also how long can a return ticket stay valid for?
Most airline/travel agents websites grey off their calendars after about 6 months and I should be in the UK for about 16 months
Is it worth it, buying a return ticket or should I just settle for one way straight up?

Thanks for the replies
depends on your bank and account type its generally £250-£400 daily

Car TalkRe: Car Owners Prefer Fake Insurance From Licencing Offices? Why? by DisGuy: 7:48pm On Apr 10, 2013
spikes C: You're tackling this problem from a wrong angle. Why do FG still ask us to pay for insurance but they do not pay claims. Why are we forced to pay insurance at all without a benefits being gauranteed. The average driver doesn't even know what the insurance means.

Now ask yourself, if papa nkechi the danfo driver doesnt get any benefit with the 300 naira insurance, why would he get the 5000 naira own.

So pls, educate the people instead of blaming them undecided
its the Nigerian way, you must blame the consumers and never the providers

Why are those micro insurance accepted by the Police? Why are they present in the registration office
if larger insurance companies are losing money and public confidence why dont they do something about their poor service
and dogon turanci tactics

If you have been in a crash, noone will beg you before you get a real insurance
ever been to lagos? theres a crash every minute and people still dont get insurance, they just hold everyone up negotiating price of repair.... there must be a reason

thousands of crash in Lagos, theres must be something putting people off, seemingly educated comfortably people
with 'expensive' cars ; I still wonder why they are more likely to buy a tracking device but wont get insurance
Car TalkRe: Car Owners Prefer Fake Insurance From Licencing Offices? Why? by DisGuy: 12:15pm On Apr 10, 2013
Benaig: It beats my imagination why most car owners prefer the ordinary piece of paper that does not provide any cover (obtained from licencing offices) to the genuine third party insurance that costs N5000 only and protects them for up to N1million in third party liabilities (from registered insurance companies)

Often they argue that insurance companies do not pay claims, whereas they have not experience such on their own.

The are also oblivious of the several avenues for complaints set up by insurance industry bodies like NAICOM and NIA to address complaints against insurance companies.
word of mouth is a powerful tool, customer generally recommend good service/products

there are several avenues set up by NEPA/PHCN for complaints i wonder how effective those are...

I'd like to know the answer too
cheesy

Having said that I want to clear something here:
I 'strongly' disbelieve that insurance firms use abt 80% of the premium collected for management costs. Rather it should be that that article meant to say 80% of the profits earned on the premium.
When this premiums are paid, the companies in turn, use the monies as capital to do businesses (businesses which vary from one company to another). At the end they make profit from this deals they do. Now, from the proceeds, they pay the client interest on his money(a prior mutual agreement on the rate), pay the marketers their stipends and commissions, pay their electricity bills, water bills, salaries, rents, fuel generators and cars, repairs and general maintenance etc.
After all these expense the company might have a substantial/little amount to declare as profits of which the shareholder may/may not be happy with.

It is false and misleading to say that insurance companies spend 80% of premium on management expenses. For some of us here who don't know what 'premium' is: its the total money a client (the insured) pays as cover to the insurance coy per annum. So if a client is paying 10,000 naira monthly it'll amount to 120,000naira per annumm. This 120,000 is the premium. so a coy doing & in business just leaves the money laying down there and keeps spending out of it up to 80? shocked na political partygrin?

I'll back for proper analysis.
Thanks cheesy
So The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM)
is misleading the world with their analysis of a sector they are regulating- nice!!!

Same way CBN mislead people about PHB,Oceanic etc etc abi
