Hydy:
Yeah.Great job by Heartland n Pillars. Hy want2 ask, will they have2 face each other in d Semis?
Kano pillars top their group with a draw today, so they will be facing the runner up of the other group
If Heartland top their group, they will avoid each other

where is this years final taking place? hopefully it will be in a North African stadium or South Africa or Abuja
Sports › Re: Nigerian League Fan Thread: Enter D Place N Know Every by DisGuy: 2:55pm On Sep 20, 2009
still struggling to get my head round the fixtures, it seem kano pillars have been playing ever since they won the local league last year-two seasons ago
with the league starting this weekend, teams like Heartland, Pillars, Bayelsa etc will have no break whatsoever especially with the so called FA cup, Super Four
all bundled together towards the end of last season

Whilst other teams are refreshing their legs, buying players and getting ready for the new season, these teams will just continue like that!!

so much for the best league in africa* No news about new seaon jersey, new players. new Coach etc etc
best league indeed, and still no website!!!! Mallam obaseki cool

Now that we have heard that Soludo has purchased and submitted his form for his participation in the PDP primaries for Anambra Guber race. When will he reach out to the grass roots.

Please folks please suggest to Soludo and other Anambra Politicians what new ways of campaigning you want to see in Nigerian politics.

The Take-Over We welcome you mr Becomerich!

Hey people calm down she went there with the Minister of Health, the DG of atomic blah blah of Nigeria and about 14 other professionals, I think she or her team should be commended for being able to have a press release about her charitable work, the health ministry obviously couldn't be bothered

She is doing what NGO do asking for 'technical assistance' (money) and capacity building

I have a feeling in the next few months there'll be a capacity building workshop in Abuja with many people from this
conference  grin
Politics › Re: Turai Yar'adua Arrives Vienna For Atomic Energy Conference by DisGuy: 4:53pm On Sep 15, 2009

Agriculture › Re: Ministry Of Agriculture by DisGuy: 4:49pm On Sep 15, 2009
^^^Exactly like the ministry of women affairs- why do they always have a woman and northerner too?
the ministry operate like an big NGO, they never get enough funds and no one cares about them apart from international donors, they need a more vocal more visible head not the wife of the former governors

And the ministry of Labour and something

Ministry of Youth- they claim they'll create a million jobs by the end of the year  undecided

In other parts of the world you get Experts, Economist, Auditors former Bankers talking about policies objectively most of the time
In Nigeria they seem to go underground allowing untrained reporters to give people information from the owners point of view
e be like say you be im broda the way you dey defend this sanusi man. i hope he will share his largese with you after his through with sacking all the banks' ceos under false pretext? angry
I no dey defend am

No one(auditors, economist, insiders etc not anonymous sources in the papers) has come to defend these banks, no one till date has gone to the papers with proof that these banks are in good condition with regards to their loans and balance

Yes banks have been hit by recession but banks in nigeria were not following the book in the first place, tehy were frying it

Fhemmmy:
They could have done this differently, agreed.
Sanusi could have allowed some of the banks to go under, agreed.
But we are forgeting one things, we have a community where you cant do for one and not do for the other.
The banks were not asked who wanted the loan, the CBN just deems it fit to help the banks, however, Union bank in Nigeria is like Citi Bank, Union bank cant be allowed to go under, if it does, too many things will go with it and i am sure the security deposit it has with govt wont even be enuf to take care of the clients.
In all, they could have done things better, but there is no way Union Bank could have been allowed to go under.
You dont need to ask them, they were already borrowing huge percentage of the money made available to troubled banks on a regular basis,

If union banks goes under some other bank will buy it and safeguard the deposit

McKren:
The economy is crashing

And I don't think any economy of the world will survive with Shake-ups every 5 years
Someone has to do something someday!

McKren:
The economy is crashing

And I don't think any economy of the world will survive with Shake-ups every 5 years

All I think that was needed in this case was to put adequate lending frameworks in place, and bailout the failing banks if necessary with a mechanism put in place for repayment.
Yea, Abacha should have thrown away his military regalia for that well sewn Babariga- then declare democraZy

McKren:
The economy is crashing

And I don't think any economy of the world will survive with Shake-ups every 5 years

All I think that was needed in this case was to put adequate lending frameworks in place, and bailout the failing banks if necessary with a mechanism put in place for repayment.

Running to the media and Sacking 5 Bank MDs in one day is not a Banking policy
I'm with you one this one, He should have made them resign secretly , the media wont have a clue!

McKren:
The economy is crashing

And BTW those who shouted down the Banking consolidation years ago led by Atedo Peterside are at the vanguard of promoting the current Sanusi onslaught.

So this is not a case of people being resistant to change, this is just politics of 'who is up' and 'who is down' and I think the economy of 150 million people can not be used to engage in political tussles without putting into consideration the bigger picture.
Time will tell .  .  .  .

McKren:
This is why there must be due process, I PERSONALLY HOPE THE COURTS RE-INSTATE THE 5 BANK MDs.
Due process, well there was a lot as we can now see- some banks didnt release their end of te year balance sheet as at when due, some lend huge money to make paper money in the stock market, some lent to well know debtors including govt departments not bothering to get their money back (okay one bank actually begged the president to help them recover loans  shocked  )

I personally hope the MDs acknowledge their mistakes and seek forgiveness

McKren:
Lest I forget, apart from sacking 5 MDs and dolling out 420billion has there been any change in the Banking process that led to the current bad loans? I doubt any framework has been put in place by the CBN.

None has been implemented nor announced.
if you've been granted an 'uncollaterized' loan recently abeg fill me in wink
that cheque Jjimoh Ibrahim wrote to the bank the other day is for a CNN advert Mckren

When one recalls the large speculative loans given by the banks in 2006 and 2007 you remember a few paragraphs in the Advice to Bankers of 1863 one of which says “Pursue straightforward, upright, legitimate banking business.

‘Splendid financing’ is not legitimate banking and ‘splendid financiers’ in banking are either humbugs or rascals.”

McKren:
well I reject the notion that the only two choices available to us were to either 'do nothing' or 'create an economic upheveal'

I am sorry but the office of the CBN Governor is no place for marxists. Sanusi is failing and will ultimately fail if he is not stopped
Im sure people said the same thing when Soludo started the consolidation process, seems new policies are always shouted down initially, its early days. . .
Business › Re: 92 U.S. Banks Have Failed This Year - What's Sanusi's Problem? by DisGuy: 6:07pm On Sep 14, 2009
If he allow the banks to fail, he'll be accused of not helping them so the northerners can take over

McKren, what's the perception of nigerian banks before August 2009?
seems like you've been enjoying those adverts on CNN too much

Sanusi's courage, brillaince, stubborness and willingness to easily step on toes will be very helpful in re-making this country but those skills are surely not needed in the office of the CBN Governor.

McKren:
Pull out what I said lets see if its not the primary selection process I was criticising rather than the party itself?

Its also interesting that Duke who was arguably the best Governor at his time is a PDP man.
pull out wetin?

How can Duke be considered the best, yes he tried- i guess tahts what it takes in nigeria nowadays
Or how would you describe the situation n Calabar today? absolutely no opposition yet nothing to show for it
What happened to that white elephant with a big gorilla on top grin

Moves:
Ok, I get your point, but that Duke lost out .doesnt mean we should give up trying, I wouldnt mind Mrs, Iweala throwing her hat into the ring, if the 4 or 5 relevant party in Anambra give us a choice of Soludo, Iweala, Obi, Ngige to choose from then it is not such a bad thing, It atleast guarantees that a half descent leadership will emmerge than having known thugs been thrown up, Nobody can say for sure that AC didnt not rig fashola in lagos, but right now that is inconsequentia

Gbawe:
Indeed !!! Skataskata go dey for dis one !!!! Definitely !!!! OBJ  versus Anenih/Yar Adua combo is one interesting battle. OBJ has bitch-slapped Anenih in recent history and Mr "fix it" will be looking to get even with a defanged and out of favour OBJ now more vulnerable without executive power.

The Andy Ubah v Soludo battle itself will also be interesting because Ubah is probably much richer yet Soludo is more erudite and able to 'work the crowd'. Ubah , IMO , is probably more of a do-or-die politician than Soludo and I will expect underhand dealings from him and his supporters.

There are many influential 'spoilers' as well who are running solely to be 'pacified' into making way and 'pitching camp' . Folks like that are part of the reason I mentioned Ubah's superior wealth. This one will be interesting .
Soludo is not a saint that guy has an agbero side to him, he'll probably be more clinical than these guys, he knows what he is up against-Andy Uba that has been chasing this post for years plus Ngige and his clan, look at all the senators jostling for their share

it's a definitely a do or die election in anambra these guys will take each other out or run some people out of the country!!!
Politics › Re: Soludo And His Anambra Governorship Aspiration! by DisGuy: 5:09pm On Sep 14, 2009

I still dont understand why 'good' candidate join political miscreants then complain when they are edged out
