Career › Re: How To Launch My Career After Youth Service by DisGuy: 9:03pm On Jul 16, 2007
if your loaded and ready for adventure try a UK university, you'll learn a lot from most UK university doesn't really matter about the uni(depends where you ant to work though) but your kind of lifestyle.

starting a Web development business is one thing making money from it is another, katsina is dry, the people are probably very conservative and style of business is archaic, they wont see the need to a web based anything sorry.
BUT if you think you can sell your service to companies or government departments in katsina and you are VERY sure of this then you can stay if not you need to movee. have you even done business before, everyone is going on about being entrepreneur, they don't want to work blah blah blah, their business fail even before it starts because they have absolutely no experience what so ever!

Food › Re: Ban Of Pure Water? by DisGuy: 5:30pm On Jul 16, 2007
daveadz:
There is rumour on the ban of pure water soon, i just wish i'm hearing it right. because the level at which Nigerians don't consider the health of their citizens and package any source of water for consumption is alarming sad. if it has to be done let it be done fast consequently reducing the cost bottled water!!!
economic principles dont usually apply to nigeria, the price will shoot up instead wink

Is Salman Rushdie, author of the book, Satanic Verses, an arab as claimed by olrotimi in his post? Please educate me.
since the 14th i have been studying the word 'arab' myself, still dont know if a pakistani can be called an arab but since 2001 if you have a beard you'll qualify for an arab or a terrorist cheesy

denex:
But what a carefully chosen time by the Queen to incite Pakistanis.

Why doesn't she just give OBJ a knighthood too for his sincere efforts at developing the Niger-Delta and endowing it with state-of-the-art infrastructure while she's still in the knighting mood?
its never too late i think its an annual thing wink

That has never been a deterrent
deterrent to. . . ?

if for example an 'anti-rigging machince' is used for voting in a student union president at a university and the whole election is televised to the whole university/state/country we can start on a smaller scale the fact that its on camera and available to everyone is enough well apart from conspiracy theorist
Politics › Re: Nigerian Invents Anti-Rigging Machine! by DisGuy: 12:35pm On Jul 16, 2007
I think its about time we start with a pilot scheme maybe for local elections in some councils or states;the whole process should be televised from voting to counting-announcements

@disguy

u make it sound like its hopeless

anyway I'm not a criminal neither do intend to abscond

I'll need the visa sooner or later because eventually work will send me on training for a variety of courses; I just want to get rid of all this baggage angry

Mind you i'm not desperate, not in the least
I have only applied for UK visa twice in 4 years(read posts), I just feel (in fact I know) that all this is UNFAIR assessment of my person my ECO's who are basing their judgments on presumption

Its a case of my 'innocence breaking forth as the dawn, and the justice of my cause as bright as the noon day sun'
hmm not that it is hopeless its just sounds so painful as in what the fk else do they want, i mean its so annoying that people have abused the system so much that proving yourself is another wahala. . . .

I will take this as joke sha
no not a joke at all thats exactly what i will do i dont do stress I'll accept the fact the system is rotten and head somewhere else for a visit!

What is the big deal about this UK sef?
if thats the case why do you think what i said was a joke? undecided
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Dividing The Job Section Into Categories by DisGuy: 11:53pm On Jul 14, 2007
spora:
Seun,

The idea is good but the implementation will be an herculian task. In this part of the world job na job so far it puts food on your table.

Remember, The Guardians newspaper tried to do this by putting Science/IT stuff on Tuesday and Social Sciences/Art stuff on Thursday. But you know what, it failed! Why? because if an organisation wants to advertise for positions, are u going to divide the advert into Tuesday and Thursday simply because of categorization.

We can never have a clear division when it comes to Vacancies.

I will suggest we categorize it according to deadline and once it expires we remove them.
I dont know what happened to the guardian in nigeria but the guardian in the Uk have different job for different days, in fact all newspapers have different jobs for different days

I dont really know what you mean in you second point but if you classify jobs according to deadline, people will only get to see the job advert few weeks/days to submission

What baffles me is the audacity of the policemen at these illegal road checks. Often times, this causes traffic hold-ups on major roads that are plied by highly placed government officials. They are never deterred by this, they collect this money in public glare daring the rest of us to do our worst. All successive Inspectors General of police have continued to declare this as illegal but all these declarations have proved to be mere rhetorics. I guess the Police Force as a whole needs to be reformed.
maybe it's about time those TV stations in Nigeria start making documentary of police/officials collecting bribe in broad daylight and hopefully shove it in the I.g's face so he wont be able to deny it any more. at least it would be better than an international T.V station showing it, we don't take criticism very well esp from outsiders wink

they should introduce road tax instead, so citizens can pay in advance instead of being stopped here and there by policemen, the revenue should be going directly to the road/infrastructure agencies not the police who are not accountable for it.

the funny thing is even okiro will deny it if you tell him police collect money from motorist  undecided sometimes you wonder if these police ogas are living in the same country
