Senator Abubakar Umar Gada (Sokoto East) said Agusto was not cleared by the Senate because it was not the will of majority of Nigerians. He said: "The work of the Senate is to act by the popular wish of the people. We were convinced that it is not the opinion of majority of Nigerians that such a candidate should scale through." Gada further said that Agusto performed woefully as director general of the budget office under President Obasanjo. "His performance when he was DG Budget was awful, to say the least. He was contemptuous of the National Assembly as a budget officer. Records are there to show that his performance, even on the floor of the Senate, I mean he was bold enough to say that the National Assembly’s financial autonomy is not important. You can imagine the level of contempt a nominee could hold against the National Assembly. You cannot be a minister without their approval and yet you are undermining them. The simple reason for his disqualification is contempt". Other senators said poor implementation of national budgets was the main reason why the Senate refused to confirm Chief Agusto as minister. Other senators cited the fear that he would be loyal to the former President and may likely take instructions from him in regards to the implementation of some economic policies he initiated before leaving office. Senator Bala Muhammad Duguri [ANPP, Bauchi] told Daily Trust that Bode Augusto was unfit to be minister as he had been frustrating the implementation of the national budgets and uses disparaging language on the National Assembly. Duguri said, "Bode Agusto was dropped because he is unfit, not because he is intellectually unfit but because of his conduct, because of his bad antecedent, because of his repugnant attitude towards the implementation of the budget in the past eight years. He is somebody who has frustrated the National Assembly, somebody who has frustrated the ministries, departments and agencies in terms of budgetary implementation, and somebody who does not have respect for the Senate. His arrogance during the screening exercise was very evident, so most Senators found it untenable". Duguri also said Bode Agusto’s unflinching loyalty to former President Obasanjo did not help matters. "Of course, one cannot be sure of his loyalty. Coming out as member of the economic team of General Obasanjo, there is likelihood his loyalty may not be with the President or with the nation. He may be more inclined towards satisfying the former President, running back to Ota Farm to take instructions within the frame work of what they have established as an economic team". http://dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=899&Itemid=1&limit=1&limitstart=1 |
the whole ministerial screening was a big joke, all they did was pat themselves in the back. In fact most of the nominees didn't answer any questions, those illiterate senators spoke for the candidate and it was as if they didn't eat breakfast " please mr chairman let this man/woman take a bow and go" |
if you create another state then Xris74 will come and say there are not doing the same in the east ![]() Xris to be honest i think Lagos can generate enough money to survive without your oil money ![]() |
Yaradua just released the funds for Lagos state councils and he's meeting up with Fashola and Gbenga Daniel. hopefully Fashola will make Lagos clean a bit and deal with those agberos tinubu gave birth to. I don't think they can they can make Lagos the financial hub in Africa without a major facelift in that state. I think ogun state will be expected to take some of the strain, if they can improve transport/traffic then people will be able to commute from ogun to work in Lagos. dockwoky, Lagos is the former capital and commercial nerve centre-its inevitable that people will continue to troop there, calabar improved alot under duke and I'm sure the population increased somehow, if business is booming in PH and security aint as bad as it is then im sure that will make the state more conducive for people to move to |
and you'll just not get a job or it will be bugging you! the president has called them for a meeting, so fingers crossed ![]() http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200707231162292 |

“The issue of NYSC shows the failure of the educational system. They do not have any moral right to ask people not to work in a year because they are on the queue for the NYSC. It is satanic. Government should be warned through a sharp reaction from the public. So many poor people have sent their children to school, sweating out their lives. Now you see those children going to farm with their parents because they cannot work. “We have a very deaf government, with daft people. It is unfortunate. And I think the public just have to wake up and do something very sharpbloody hypo, i wonder if he will allow his students take part in this 'sharp reaction' -private universities should fund their students nysc |
Being in charge herself will be more effective than giving orders from the sidelines her presence as an experienced professional indicate the commitment of the gov. to revamp the economy to Nigerians and the world. It's better to have the real brains take owner responsibilty than have a stooge who might not welcome or support policies from the sideline. in many cases they'll do anything to rubbish that persons reputation with the help of pm news sun newspaper and co ![]() |
I prefer cricket at least you get to hit the ball, you can hit it short or have a good wack! Some players come on for baseball and they never get a chance to hit the damn ball before they walk and they still get paid ![]() |

True but in a way it will be like a remote control thing, you'll probably be paying a junior or less experienced staff who will received orders from the sidelines. And you know how things are in naija they'll be some conflicts esp with people that have gigantic egos |
laudate:Are you laughing because I'm Fulani or because i asked for fura dey nu nu better tell me before i get me boxing gloves ![]() |
lelele:you can work as much as you like during the holiday-don't over do it remember the more you work the more tax you'll probably pay they don't want anyone getting richer than iya charlie esp an outsider ![]() considering the fact you only have one N.I the authorities will know if you have two job will probably tax you heavily, whether they do something I don't know. I heard some students had problems renewing/extending their student visa because they worked over the limit. |
look you smelly bastard you typed my name and butt into something that didn't concern you at all now you turn around to say you don't bother yourself, is old age getting the better of your foolish self? |
When it comes to working, you either accept or refuse the working conditions existing there.I thought you are meant to negotiate your pay and if the other party says yes you sign contract and get on with the job, these people*- okonji is not really a politician she's a technocrat. if anything OBJ should refund the money because he signed the contract |
Babasin you are a big joker! ![]() i wonder if bill gate ever saw all the billions he has or do you go to the bank to physical touch your own money when you have your bank card? one mallam senator during the screening " They said they are saving this money for a raining day, it has been raining for the past one week now; we still cant spend our money" ![]() |
