Theflint1:Crazy guy smartly sidestepped it. ![]() |
Theflint1:Is there something you want to tell us? |
About the insecurity and kidnappings; I'd state the obvious some of us are already thinking: Some of the kidnappers are with us here on Nairaland. Probably even interact with us frequently on this thread. When some of us post, we give out specifics. Specific locations, our daily routines and itineraries, specific information which give an insight into what access we have... You get where I am heading with this. I know, I know; uncomfortable point to note, but someone has to state it if it isn't obvious enough. You aren't anonymous enough for someone motivated enough to unmask you completely. And the devious greed which fuels kidnapping and the proceeds seem to be motivation enough for its perpetrators. |
izzou:Happy birthday, Izu. Wishing you the very best of what life has got to offer. --- You, my favourite cousin, and myself are just a couple of days apart in birthdays. |
Itsrm:I agree. In retrospect, my constant barrage of Rivers State's gang culture mostly fueled the (exaggerated ?) notion of Rivers being a seeming warzone on this thread over the course of the last 9 months. That I take responsibility for. But that safety/security comparison has always been in relation to what is obtainable in Akwa Ibom so maybe I am a tad biased. It goes without saying that Port Harcourt is multiple times safer than many parts of the country, including Abuja, Benin, Warri, Kaduna, Lokoja, e.t.c. I'd take Port Harcourt over any of the aforelisted for this singular reason. I've stated safety/security is a relative term, even in the past. Still, when it comes to the issue of gang culture - this being the onerous premise for my seeming castigation of Rivers State at intervals as anyone viewing this can attest to, it still holds true, relative to many other parts of the country or as a singular examination. |
OasisX:PR-wise, Bosun is the best of the appointments. He's a technocrat in the true sense of word and everyone can track his growth publicly. He, surprisingly, still interacts like an everyday person on Twitter, bantering and responding to questions from everyday people himself; and he gives timely updates which leave no room for misinformation. No other Nigerian Minister can lay claim to this. If there's any information or misinformation about the ministry, all one needs do is check his timeline or ask him directly in the comment section. So far, he's the only Minister who has been able to communicate his vision clearly and has a roadmap we can track and compare which he released in October. |
iamoyindamola:She might forget she is. She truly might. As long as men continue to adulate just about any female dipped in a drumload of makeup and fall over themselves in the comment sections online telling her lies that she's beautiful, ugly girls would continue to feel they are the universe's gifts to men. And act accordingly. It's the same here on Nairaland and on other social media platforms -. men falling over themselves seeking to be noticed by bare basic females, and the man who points out the obvious is termed the misogynist. Probably in hopes that he'd cover. Put a crippled obesed ugly female on a higher desirability pedestal than she should be and she'd begin to think she's more ravishing than any Miss World. |
iamoyindamola:If you go after supposed baddies and loose girls, the Davido situation is what you get. 2Baba went after regular everyday women. Whether it's casual or committed, avoid baddies. Regular women while being cultured, are as beautiful and curvy as those baddies. Impregnating or associating with a 'baddie' would always end up in drama. |
Itsrm:But you were a staunch advocate of Peter Obi's difference and frugality even until a month to the election when Wike's preference for Tinubu became apparent. You switched because Wike switched. Itsrm: |
BlueRayDick:If Bosun Tijani turns out to be same, I'd lose it. He's representing a very important demography given the sector is coming from, and I have high hopes for him. |
Theflint1:Obasanjo somewhat deserves the scorn he gets from Ogun and Lagos people though. Ota roads were bad while he had a farm and was President. I can understand the intra-state roads, but the Lagos -Abeokuta highway was bad and kept getting worse. Only the Gateway Hotels/Tollgate part was befitting of a federal road. |
Amoto94:People from outside the ND region would never truly understand the kind of money the Governors of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta have access to, even outside of official ones like FAAC, ECA, IGR, and security votes. Why do you think I have consistently lampooned and judged ND Governors differently and harshly on this thread? You'd never truly understand. |
CrystalTiger:Someone who gets it. That oil money is potent. Plus he's not unruffled the feathers of the boys in the creeks. The boys who are in his ancestral creeks. A budget of ~800 billion was passed successfully. Unaccounted for billions of security votes directly into his pockets. Other streams of monies, known and hidden. That's the warchest a Minister thinks he can consistently fight against? Please... |
Itsrm:Everyone was for Southern presidency. You and I know this. Amaechi orchestrated and funded for two years the process which brought down a Niger-Delta man - a man who would even be considered a Rivers man, Jonathan. Wike kicked insisted on Southern presidency. Two contexts. I don't know why Wike has not left PDP. My guess is that he won't have the sort of power and control he has over PDP on APC.Wike wouldn't leave the PDP for obvious reasons. The Rivers structure he has built and which exists is PDP. The moment he suspected Fubara went after that PDP structured, he fought back. He cares little for the APC structure and who controls it. Wike would loudly declare he's still a PDP member but never declares he's an APC member. The moment he does, he loses the Rivers structure. Exactly what his detractors are goading him to do - declare himself an APC member so the takeover would be complete. |
Itsrm:Punishing Wike would have been punishing themselves. The alternative would have been allowing the APC win at the state level since Fubara is a PDP candidate. Same reason dislike for Udom Emmanuel wasn't going to affect Umo Eno's chances. The alternative was the APC taking over. The LP candidates in both states were weak; so weak Obi didn't acknowledge their existence. Wike knew this, Udom knew this. The people weren't going to bite their nose to spite their face. |
Itsrm:Governors are just as powerful as the structures they control. Immediately they turn against those structures, their powers diminish. The connection to the grassroots in Rivers and Akwa Ibom is PDP. The thugs, the most powerful ward leaders, the village heads, the youth leaders, the paramount leaders... These people might twist for national politics but at the state level, they are fiercely loyal to the PDP. Imo wasn't APC. We know how Hope Uzodinma came to power and the opposition he faced. But he had 4 years of oiling the machinery. Even on election day, he had to use other means to escape the jaws of defeat. Again, I ask, why do you think Wike kicks against any attempt at removing him from the PDP and has never declared loyalty to the APC, but only says he's loyal to Tinubu? Why do you Akpabio refused to campaign for any APC Akwa Ibom Governorship candidate last year but focused on his Senatorship and national politics? Answer the last two questions. |
Ballzproblemm:Maybe he's biased. Amaechi's defection to APC weakened his influence in Rivers State politics. He claims Amaechi isn't a grassroot polician. Same Amaechi who used to ride all over PH City on a powerbike as Governor? Same Amaechi who fought an almost god-like Odili to take out a sitting Celestine Omehia to become Governor? Same Amaechi who would personally supervise demolitions and constructed smart and modern schools all over? His shortcoming was even being so loyal to the grassroots; he awarded road contracts to indigenous contractors who embezzled the monies and did shitty jobs or skipped on the contract executions. Defecting to APC and his arch-role in bringing down Jonathan are cardinal sins the whole Niger-Delta wouldn't forgive. It had nothing to do with him being a grassroot politician. Wike was just an enforcer for Odili and Patience Jonathan. Amaechi played grassroots from day one as a student activist. |
Itsrm:Nobody could have delivered Rivers Governorship to APC in 2015 and 2019. Even Akpabio, arguably the most-grassrooted politician in the region, and unarguably in the state, can't deliver the Governorship of his state to the APC, even now as Senate President. Ask yourself why Wike doesn't want to leave a PDP weakened at the national levell. At state level, PDP is like a religion in Rivers and Akwa Ibom, even against my own wish. |
iamoyindamola:No single individual can pocket Rivers State. The man who would have been closest to doing so is Odili, yet he couldn't. Wike wouldn't decide who becomes Governor in 2027. You know how complex Rivers and its politics are? There are too many dynamic and incendiary factors at play to be controlled by one man for so long. Something would have to give way. 10 years ago, nobody thought Amaechi's influence would have diminished so much in Rivers' affairs. Odili was the most like Tinubu of any of the South South state 15 years ago. |
Blueraydick, see why I insist Twitter NG females are mostly cruel? They formed a union to make inquiries if the woman's husband has ever messaged them. It turns out of their thousands of searches, he messaged only one woman who sells rings in hopes of buying a wedding band for his wife but couldn't afford it 'cause it was pricey. Imagine if he had messaged any with a random "hi" and left it at that even 10 years ago... Imagine the twists and turns and accusations of "He was begging for attention in my DM". Those witches are out to wreck lives and never want to see men happy or with good women. Again, God help any man who tries to get personal with Twitter NG females. |
BItt:True; the beyond-physical/metaphysical is a thing. But the theatrics and claims by your clergymen and religious leaders about being all-knowing about how to channel the metaphysical is just that - theatrics. Most times what we ascribe as to miracles are just sumtotals of many coincidences. Sometimes placebo. Even hypnosis is simply psychological conditioning, juju, pastor, imam, or not. |
reccy:Are they wholly so? Well, let's see... It's the agbalumo/udara (because it's really not African star apple or of the apple family so let's call it by native names) season. Itsrm bought 4 for #500 in Port Harcourt days ago. Pricey. Meanwhile baskets of the fruit aree rotting in farms and bags in interior Benue and border communities of Cross River. #100 would get you more than you can consume even in a day. To get to Port Harcourt, you go: Benue (and the many communities) > Cross River (very large and strenuous terrain) > Akwa Ibom > Port Harcourt. Let's really break it down: -Fuel price hike: FG's fault (1) - Benue bad internal roads: SG's fault (1) - Benue insecurity: FG (2) and SG (2) - Cross River - Benue Road is bad: FG (3) - Cross River bad roads: SG(3) - Cross River insecurity: SG(4) and FG (4) - Cross River - Akwa Ibom road is bad: FG(5) Already these factors have multiplied the selling price of the fruits even in the trailer due to costs and risks. - Akwa Ibom roads are good so point against SG here. - Security not Iceland level but no challenge. - Akwa Ibom - Port Harcourt road: FG (5.5) Port Harcourt roads are good so no point against SG here. Extortions by police along the roads so FG(6.5) FINAL SCORE ON BLAMES: FG 6.5 vs SG 4 It gets to Fruit Market, D-Line, Port Harcourt. Or Oil Mill Market if it's a Wednesday. Then gets retailed to the woman on the street. And that's how the brother on this thread ends up buying just 4 for #500 for what is less than #30 at the source. That's how price inflation of perishables happens. ----- You still think state governments have no role to play in the inflation we are experiencing? The facts have been laid bare. |
reccy:So, in other words, the federal government is more democratic than most state governments given its allowance of relatively more freedom of speech and press freedom? This in itself weakens the almost onerous focus it gets. "Let's keep attacking this snake which doesn't fight back swallowing our eggs, but, please ignore the other snakes even as they swallow our eggs; if you fight them, they'd come after us. " The real question is, with have state governments get, what have they done with it? The economy is factored by many things and indices. Yam,, potatoes, garri, and pepper are very cheap in the interiors of Benue and Cross River States. Transporting those food items involves a lot of risks which come with financial and security costs. The roads to and from these interiors are bad and very insecure. Remind me, again: Who's in-charge of fixing intra-state roads and ensuring intra-state security primarily? Misters Governors, no? And that's how cheap food end up in Port Harcourt, Ikeja, Uyo, Akwa, and the likes very costly. That's how incompetent state governors play a very significant role in wrecking the economy. Remember? Inflation has mostly been more complained about due to food item price hikes, which are in turn partly due to these factors. The above is just one instance. My point has and still is sharing blames and holding both the central and state governments to the same accountability demands. Excusing one while almost solely heaving the blames on the other would only continue to hurt us. |
OasisX:Exactly why I've always insisted for long only ignorant people take the faux outrage and sanctimonious stances of these self-styled Twitter activists and good governance advocates seriously. They are mostly in bed with their respective misgoverning state governments. I stated it yesterday, again. They don't give a tuppence about you, or the corruption, or those behind Mohbad's death... You are nothing more than higher engagement enablement and visibility to be cashed at the bank of opinion-shaping and talking points. The real activists never position themselves to be activists, tag themselves as such, and try to shape and make every topical issue be about them. Large-sized neon 'Ls' for those who believed they were real. |
Odunharry:He's so neck-deep in illogicality, he doesn't realize the "Ada is a boy" premise he used is a wrong statement in itself. Ada is only a boy as Emeka is a girl. That's certainly not someone one should have debates on reflective and thought-provoking issues with. |
Melvyn11:Your logic has as much quality as your taste in music. A man is what he consumes. I'd have been shocked if you replied intelligently.. ![]() |
Melvyn11:Shalli-whatever who objectifies and thinks women are nothing but disposable fleeting sexual releases is your artiste of the year, but you are a feminist fighting against supposed patriarchy? Don't we just love ironies...? |
A40:June 2018: @B_Moree_ vs @UcheDandyMUFC . January 2019: Actress Dorcas Fapson vs random innocent Taxify (now Bolt) driver. Those feminists are the reason I have been insisting I want nothing intimate or personal with any woman who gives hot takes on Twitter NG. |
Melvyn11:Johnny Drille, arguably, my favourite Nigerian artiste in the last 7 years and one of the very few deserving of social media follows, is a Benin boy too; and John dishes out melodious, evergreen lyrical-rich songs yearly. A true musician in all sense, and scandal-free. But he doesn't sing about booze, drugs, and being reckless so why rate him highly? |
donjazzet:Feminist_co. Their handle and it's branded too. Supposedly Feminist Coalition, but it's really a feminist coven. Or that's what we call them. To be recognised as a Twitter feminist, you have to kowtow and eat the droppings of its leaders. The only advantage is, if you have a man whose reputation you want to ruin as a feminist, they'd help you soundboard the (false) accusations, dig into his details to ensure he gets fired or jailed, and wreck his marriage if, the Heavens forbid, he has a happy home. Screw the truth if he's innocent or commits suicide, the Coven wrecks him to the very end. |
raumdeuter:Same Feminist Coven led by Kiki Mordi, Mochievious and others who embezzled EndSARS donations in hard currency and later exposed for being the call girls/escorts of high-balling Nigerian fintech founders, some which have had to be liquidated? Take those witches seriously at your own peril. |
