Remember the back-and-forths on alternate months we engage in on this thread about a certain city's tendency to celebrate gang culture and romanticise violent vices? Erm, yeah. Here's less than a day-old example of a page dedicated to the city celebrating such: https://www.facebook.com/100063057078594/posts/pfbid02RGtQk8fv8j7SfkXaaPzgyetZjbjZQEfHoaG6u94N2jo753WGQoqcKEDxuZQsa2fol . Notice the comments and nested comments, even by women who one would otherwise have thought avoid such things? More particularly, notice how the page itself is responding to such comments and edging them on? "DissTróy exaggerates these things. It's not as bad as he makes it out to be." Uncomfortable conversations are necessary sometimes. ![]() |
Joseph1832 , see that notion I insisted on from yesterday on the other thread? Here's a woman reiterating it two hours ago on Facebook and it's going viral. Only she localised it to a particular ethnic group while I generalised along gender lines. The later holds true regardless of clime, race, or tribe. https://www.facebook.com/100003235703476/posts/pfbid02KDLgvypVYwdgxShaJtbjkd6m42HzqvCywdz6xXhmxUA6QzUnD7i82xw6oj7799ucl/ These women know how manipulative they can be and their tendency to put only their interests first; the naysayers on that thread inclusive. |
larride:In an instant, he was willing to sacrifice Obi on the altar of subethnic rivalry/superiority. That was the point to buttress. All that loyalty went out the window. It's like an Ogun man willing to sacrifice Fashola on the altar of subethnic superiority in defense of Ibikunle Amosun, even when we know Fashola was way better. No Ogun man would ever say this, subethnicity be damned. This is the point to buttress. Izu wasn't even the one at fault and I didn't imply it given how I went on to quote only OkpaNsukka's comments. But he knows yet would muddy the waters in a bid to avoid the main point of subethnic superiority raised. |
GrammarNazi1:They don't want to argue it but would focus on the Okpa - Izu debacle to make the point obscure. The endpoint is to deviate. Haven't you noticed how the initial response to LiveLøngNProspa has been deliberately ignored to focus on the minority issue? It's deliberate and I'd have furthered that goal if I jumped into fray. Muddying the waters is a tactics I understand too well. Women do it frequently enough for any man not to understand the benign intention. If I were of another very distant ethnicity/tribe/region, the play would have been tribalistic tags to make me cower even when we know that isn't the point. The hysteria is just theatrics. I know this, you know this, we know this. ![]() |
Again, Reddit still doesn't do a good job of news aggregation like Nairaland, and I proved it with screenshots as it's limited to only interests you select and a rabbithole. And this is from me who is proven to use it for more serious things than football news in your screenshots. You are still hurt about that even though you agreed with me in the end. ---- Igbo subethnicities still ridicule themselves and aren't united. This is a fact. A thousand quotes and peddled emotionality won't make me deviate. I don't argue deviations, only the main points I set out to do. Not even if you make the attack personal would I deviate as I have proven time and again, including on this thread. ![]() |
And here we go with the emotionality. Completely ignored the slurs other subethnicities tag on some like the Ebonyi people, Mbiase, Awara... Or why people from certain states peopled by the same tribe think themselves superior to their tribesmen based on their bio-geolocation accidents which we call "state or place of origin". Is this the part where we do 10 pages of arguments so we can completely befuddle the viewing public and hide the points raised so far, and in the paragraph above? Isn't that the play of women to ignore the main points while focusing on a miniscule part to emotionally blackmail? I'm immune to this. No! When I make an argument, I only focus on the main point(s) and do not deviate or get distracted. Emotionality doesn't work with me. Stay on topic. Ariaria Market boys in Aba are still ridiculing " Onye Abakaliki" even this minute. Same tribe. That's the point. End the subethnic prejudice so you have a united front to fight whatever intertribal prejudice there is. |
3 weeks ago. Immediately the subethnic rivalry became heated, OkpaNsukka, one of Obi's most visible and staunchest supporters, was ready to sacrifice and ridicule Obi in appeasement of Chimaroke of a party he opposed on the altar of subethnic jingoism. All that staunch support for Obi went out the window in a second and Obi was no longer the best Nigeria had to offer in 2023 in that instant of blind rage. Soon enough, Airmark and others were quoting OkpaNsukka to mock Obi.
U said his sole contribution was that he broke the circle of old politician..planted his boys thus Anambra is miles ahead of Enugu. Peter did the same in Anambra. who sabi Willy Obiano before the APGA primary? >Which development(s) that Obi brought to Anambra & made Anambra to be miles ahead? I want to know about those developments.

Very very interesting. If he can say that "Anambra is miles ahead of Enugu in development, so wetin Chimaroke do gan gan"? He suppose provide receipt make we see the development(s), then we compare to what Chiboy did?
See, man, I don't like to personalise this. I don't do emotionality too. You should know by now that I don't reference what I don't have evidence for. Everyone who read the back-and-forths could read the undertones. Don't deviate from the central point with whataboutism. This isn't an attack on you but an example to buttress the argument. I don't deviate and won't. We all know what the central point is. ![]() |
iamoyindamola:Yes! And I'd repeat it on any forum, the hysteria and faux outrage it'd generate regardless. We all are thinking it, most know it's the truth, but most don't want to stir the hornet's nest. I don't mind doing so sometimes. Ask the average Anambra or Enugu guy what he thinks about the Mbiase people and Awara(?) people of Imo State, and you'd be shocked. In 2023, these people still think some subethnicities of their tribe are inferior and you think they'd unite. Didn't you notice the argument between Okpansukka and Izu who are both Igbo weeks ago? The subethnic superiority undertones? It's just one small example. They have to first eliminate the subethnic prejudice amongst themselves before they can tackle the intertribal prejudice. It's controversial and it's going to make people uncomfortable, but it's the truth. |
liveLongNprospa:Even if it were true, they'd be no consequence. The Igbos aren't even united to begin with. She's Imo and reminded so by other Igbos. Even in Imo, there's a disdain for Mbaise people, and their women especially. Until Umahi, Ebonyi folks were treated like rags by other Igbos, and a lot of Ebonyi folks hid their origin. Being from Abakaliki meant being ridiculed by people in Ariaria Market, Aba as "one who eats sewage rats and backward". Or Nnamdi Kanu not being worthy enough to lead a Biafra movement because he isn't from Anambra or Enugu which are seen as the de facto superiors or leaders of the Igbo people. Everyone here knows the slurs different Igbos subgroups tag themselves. Need I mention the discrimination amongst themselves during elections, civil service recruitment, episcopal leadership, and royal ascendancy due to ancestral connections to different subethnicities of the Igbo tribe? Even if it were true, other people would continue to get away with using them as the butt of sociopolitical jokes without consequences until the instances I stated above are eliminated or reduced to the barest minimum. The Yorubas have done this to a large extent. The Ijaws have done this. (Warring as people like to think they are, they do not promote intra-tribal superior subethicities.) Just a few tribes who have overcome this or have mostly overcome this. Some know this but I can state it in my usual blunt manner, and we know it's the truth. |
From "standing on your mandate", Tinubu's strongest and closest allies are already making a case for his failure and blaming "saboteurs" in the event that Tinubu's administration fails. https://www.nairaland.com/7950658/hold-saboteurs-responsible-tinubu-government Seems familiar? Same excuse Buhari's allies gave even in his first tenure when the handwriting became obvious. You know what's even familiar and interesting at closer look? Tinubu's allies were the same as Buhari's allies so it's the same people, the same playbook, the same excuses. ------ "How are you sure we won't have the same excuses with Peter Obi?" "What would Obi differently?" |
Nackzy:Funny how the same speaker who tried to get him impeached for demanding transfer of power due to Akeredolu being incapacitated and made a case for ridiculing the Office of the Deputy Governor might be the Deputy Governor now. He'd get what awaits him. If he's smart, he'd turn it down. I love life. Nemesis remains undefeated. But politicians jettison grudges for common interests so... |
madridguy:Abacha died suddenly in dramatic fashion with top military men and enemies aware in an instant. Yar'Adua was dying and ferried away to seclusion before his death with limited access. His death was rumoured for days and a week before it was announced. I just posted articles from 13 years ago which stated so in details but some random Madridguy in Nairaland whose sole aim is spreading bigotry is arguing against decade-old evidence which have been stated over and over again. You started by calling it a lie. You are the ignorant buffoon. Scurry back to whatever digital rabbithole you emerged from. |
madridguy:Shush it! This is more than the bigotry you promote on frontpage threads. Yar'Adua's death had been rumoured for weeks before it was officially announced. Even as early as April 2010, a month before the official announcement, he had been rumoured to be dead, and he hadn't been pictured for months before then. Not everyone has selective amnesia like you lots: https://saharareporters.com/2010/05/08/yar’adua-dead-nigeria-life-support . |
Mjshexy:Please! Just like Yar'Adua, a lot of people knew Akeredolu was comatose long before it was announced. Yar'Adua had been dead for more than a week before it was announced. |
Apparently, more Governors are taking Osinbajo's cue to appoint females as their official photographers. The Akwa Ibom Governor did same. That position used to be exclusively reserved for males. |
Benbisco:A few exceptions do not negate the validity of a rule or theory. Our women have commercialised even the most basic of intergender interactions which aren't intimate or romantic, as something as commonplace as constant interactions is seen as an opportunity to fleece or extort. Even casual male friends are extorted from or fleeced, not to mention men they are in sexual and/or romantic relationships with. Have I experienced good women? Yes. Have I been with or still with relatively selfless ones? Yes. Still, my experience, just like the example posted by the OP, doesn't negate the more common experiences of most Nigerian men. |
PinkNature:It's called Faced Pareidolia. |
BennyDGreat:I do it on alternate days on Facebook, in groups and pages. Not every man can be saved. Most would continue to slave themselves in parasitic relationships for societal validation. Hopefully, the "Real Man Trophy" which equates to a man who always puts a woman's needs above his is worth it. This guy has seen the light. Debating it on Nairaland would likely turn into a misogynistic slurfest, and there's a difference between misogyny and a man making himself a priority. |
joseph1832:I think a man should spend and protect a woman who has proven her worth and shown herself to be kind. I see men - some from the SE - toil all year and don't look it but their wives look good. You'd hear men brag like, "The way to know I have money is by looking at my wife". She embodies your wealth but you don't look it? She doesn't get you gifts or care for you. You have to pay for everything? Even I tell women at first intimacy that I like being spoiled with gifts and taken care of. It scares some away while some remain. That's pruning. If I have #100, ma'am, I'm not giving you #80. Not even #50. Until I am sure there's a certain #200 on the way. I won't put myself in harm for you. I'm not making myself uncomfortable when I am ill to please you like Akeredolu. We both know, the kids are more under your spell than mine so you are leading them on like Emeka Ike's. I won't even be with her if she's the type to sit back. Joe, women have money to spend and care as long as you set a standard they must adhere to. The only female I got a gift this Christmas is the one who consistently has been caring and spoilt me. She even reciprocated with a gift. Others who didn't get me something for Christmas got nothing from me. NOTHING. I even told one bluntly who came visiting and asked for a gift hours ago. Most men didn't get any Christmas gifts from women but they they have spent money getting gifts for the same leeches. Putting yourself first sometimes means self-respect and dignity. Women look out for themselves first by default. Study how women think and follow them accordingly. Men should put themselves first. Today's woman has evolved to be more selfish. Today's man must learn to evolve to make himself a priority. |
joseph1832:It's what society has conditioned men to believe - provide and protect women and kids with no expectation of them doing same at your weakest moment. The love and respect they have for you are only tied to what they can get from you. You'd be squeezed out of every ounce of it. Akeredolu's position as Governor guaranteed both so his health be damned. Whatever protection and provision you give which always has you with the shorter or shortest end of the stick is fóolishness. Men continue to die avoidable deaths for needless chivalry. It's alright to put yourself first in some situations. Women do it everyday and don't get vilified for it. |
His wife and kids, like Turai Yar'Adua and kids, prevented him from getting proper treatment. They prefer what his status as Governor could offer than his well-being and chose that status over his health without it. A lesson to men. When it all comes down to it, you are nothing but a provider to the woman you labour for. Your kids are an extension of herself. You are disposable. When you have kids with a selfish woman, every progeny she bears you would despise you or use you. |
As a rule, I don't get personal with people who post and share details about their lives and recent developments on social media. Especially women. I do not update my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter locations and relationship status. I deliberately crop my pictures so you can't exactly tell where I am. When I can, I prefer taking pictures in plain or neutral backgrounds. Mostly selfies. When I do, it's at intervals. I won't reveal who I am hanging out with or the women in my life. I travel to faraway places without as much as a picture on social media. You won't see my grief too. I haven't updated more than 7 times on my Facebook timeline this year even though I am active on Facebook and post in groups and on pages. Oh! I have been linking up and meeting people via inbox. The timeline doesn't need to know who I am sleeping or hanging out with. Once I notice a female with a mutual attraction is the type to post about anything and everything, I withdraw from her. In fact, I scrutinise a woman's timeline before intimacy. Whether it goes better or worse after intimacy, the timeline doesn't need to know. Don't tag me to loved up or intimacy posts or pictures too, lady. People don't know where to draw the line. Everything is 'content' for bored strangers on the internet. |

BlueRayDick:Not just in Plateau. In interstate boundary communities and inter-tribal boundary communities where there are boundary clashes and wars, they eat human flesh. I'd freaking name a few of them and it might piss people off. The boundary communities in Iwok Ukem community in Etim Ekpo which have been in eternal boundary wars with the Azumini community of Abia eat flesh. Both the Iwok Ukem side and the Azumini axis. The Ngwa part of Abia State too. The Ogojas of Cross River and the clashing boundary intersecting communities of Cross River, Ebonyi, and Benue States. On all three parts. Whenever you read of communities frequently interrupted by interstate and intertribal boundary clashes , just know they are cánnibals too as they eat the flesh of their captives/victims. It's no coincidence that they are very dexterous with matchetes. If you ever get into a fight with people from these areas and they pull machetes, 99 out of 100, they'd use them to cause grave bodily harm. Also, in these areas when thieves are caught, the thieves would most likely be cánnibalised. It's an unwritten rule. The lynching or jungle justice is a means to an end. If you ever have cause to visit these areas, don't eat any meat you haven't certified the source. Or don't even spend the night as a rule I adhere to. Anyone from these areas on this thread who wants to deny this should engage so I'd mention specific names and places. Cännibalîsm is still very much around in relatively few remote Nìgeriān communities from North to South, in all geopolitical zones. |
sageb:And this is why I am for gated inner-community roads. Let the residents of communities fish out strange faces and unusual activities amongst them. The police would do little. The communities around Indorama Industries have been adopting this strategy for a while and it's working. Every 5KM inner-community road seems to be gated with speed bumps at intervals. Same should be replicated within Rumuokurushi and MTN areas which seem too porous, if possible. Too many in and outs in these areas. |
Itsrm:True. There are excesses and a few communities taking proprietary rights over roads. But, if you ask me, I'd take those inconveniences in exchange for community safety. There's a road by Odani off Elelenwo Road which leads to the Eleme part of PH-Aba. That area used to be very unpredictable safety-wise, but immediately it got tarred and expanded by Wike, there were have been crossbars and speed bumps. Not like the ones in Trans-Amadi, but community-policed by vigilantes and locked from 11:00PM to 5:30AM. Now that area is safer. Yes, traffic build-ups here and there a few times, but safer. --- If Slaughter off Odani and YKC get something similar, they'd see drastic improvements in safety too. More gated inner-community roads for me, please. |
Ballzproblem2:Maybe it's just me but I think those gated roads are cool for inner-city community roads. Combined with the speed bumps, you'd enjoy cruising at slow speeds in areas like Trans-Amadi, and it also means less accidents. Plus those gated roads are community-policed so everyone driving in and out gets noticed or facially-tagged, and it means less crimes since the gates are locked at a particular time of the night and only accessible with a vigilante clearance. You'd notice that easy-going pace in the inner areas of Trans-Amadi, for example. From a safety perspective, it seems cool. The downside is the traffic build-up at rush hours. |
baralatie:The joke is on the doctor. I've been having hours' long penile erections for years since I became sexually actively, and I'm teetotal and straightedge - I've never done alcohol and drugs (not even aphrodisiacs) all my life, and I have no health complications. Some men have naturally high libido. 30 minutes isn't too long for a healthy man. |
Ballzproblem2:Trans-Amadi especially. |
Rubbish. Nor when the man is healthy and has no heart or blood pressure issues. This is just something to pacify those men with naturally low libido. Don't feel insecure because of those who can go longer naturally as sustain a rigid erection for hours if they want to. |
Jokerman:Or he's the one loyal friend who'd help his friend's up going down the hill. Suarez had been forgotten and relegated to some backwater league to be retired. Busquets and Alba too. Same way he saved Suarez's career at Barça for 3 years by ensuring he had playing time. Plus it's a good marketing gimmick. 2/3 of MSN and the Barça 2008 to 2012 old guard is a combination too valuable not to bank on. Ticket prices and viewership are going to skyrocket higher than ever. |
