A001:LOL. This is typical you being evasive. Existential questions aren't limited to any field. And it's pretty presumptuous of you to posit that the folks here aren't scientifically-inclined because of their belief system. Adeboye has a PhD in Mathematics - a professorship actually, which you haven't attained . One of the guys here majored in Mathematics. There are engineers on this board. Data scientists and techies too whose life work revolves around science and its applicable concepts. But somehow you assume you know better than them. When in fact, the real truth is, you don't have the explanations for everything. While some of us can humbly admit it - there's no shame in admitting you have no answer for every poser in life, you'd rather ride on your fantasy horse into egoland. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Most healings ascribed to miracles are placebo. Some are as a result of lifestyle changes. Or the body healing itself. I have a belief that once I am feverish, all I need do is take a cold bath, sweat it out while I sleep, and bathe again, and it'd be over. No need for dosaged medications. There's nothing supernatural about it. It's worked for me for years. Yet I've heard people testify about it at religious and social gatherings. |
A001:Your postulations are all seemingly thought-provoking, but wouldn't the easier explanation have been you explaining in detail the scientific phenomena and concepts behind causing a shallow still pond begin to fast-whirl at the center in a vortex when it isn't windy and making it stop when they choose to? That's the explanation we'd like to read from you since you have all the answers for these things. |
Ab0bii:You and I have broken innocent women's hearts, knowingly or unknowingly. Our pictures are definitely online. Why aren't we dead, or drunks sleeping in gutters, or suddenly ailing? We've heard of women threatening to curse out their erstwhile lovers in the dead of the night naked, so if we've have likely offended such women, how come we aren't dead or ailing? |
Ab0bii:I know what I saw and it was real enough to shake my cynicism. The exact phenomena behind it is what I don't know. But I know those who made what I saw happen are the same people I described as the custodians of my tribe's theology. How they did it is arguable, but they did it. I saw what I saw. |
iamoyindamola:Benjamin Hundeyin, your attention is needed here, sir. Please send the #2 million reward for this information. |
BlueRayDick:That's why I stated in my first post to you that what you saw in the video is nothing compared to the real thing practised. There's nothing in the video but amusement. Masquerades are tricks. Even the feared Ekpo masquerade is a trick, including the blood-cuddling sound it makes. I know I've seen them dress up a few years ago when I went visiting. The fire-spitting ones are tricks too. The more intriguing ones include causing a fast-whirling vortex in the middle of hitherto still shallow pond without stepping into the water body. There's no way I analysed what I saw and could come up with a physical law which explained it. No, it wasn't windy. |
A001:Juju is a form of religious rite. I don't believe in its efficacy on me, but those who believe in its efficacy have their reasons which I can't dispute. You call it programming, some call it conjuring, the Ibibios call it "ibok', the Yorubas call it " Ogun"... It all points to metaphysics - beyond-physical, advanced-physical... Or whatever term you'd tag it. For me, Juju is just a practice. Don't deceive yourself or let anyone deceive you. The matrix we call reality was designed and engineered by certain people (worshipped as different gods and goddesses around the world) using certain codes (certain math, physics, and the likes) the same way engineers design and code machines today. You are unwittingly agreeing with me. The fact that you agree there's an intelligent designer or designers to the universe is proof that we live in a metaphysical or beyond-physical world. My lack of believe in its personal efficacy doesn't negate what others believe. I don't believe in tithes or first fruits practised in Christianity but if it works for them - IF, good for them. Far be it from DissTróy to ridicule their personal experiences as long as they don't force it on me. I believe in the concept of God, experienced without the bottleneck of organised religions, knowing well enough that God in this term means "supreme intelligent designer of the universe in whatever form it exists" which even the most atheistic of scientists agree to. |
A001:Like I stated, I'm more of a skeptic and cynic for most parts. Even an Atheist for years before becoming a Deist. But I've seen the Uruan people in their elements. I have nothing to benefit from painting a subgroup as still very much in touch with their native fetishisms vis-à-vis practising Christians. If anything, I have set them up for possible 'dragging' and labeling. It's not even a bad thing from the perspective of those against Abrahamic religions. Still, the truth is the truth, and it's harsh sometimes. We live in a metaphysical world. We have no explanation for everything. There are many phenomena science can't explain till date. Heck! Scientists even dismiss their own varying theories - hypotheses actually - of how the universe came to be, but they agree there's an intelligent deliberate design to the universe. And deliberate intelligent design is proof of an intelligent designer or designers. A designer is a creator. 0.5 x 1 = 1/2 . I've seen things which shake my cynicism and skepticism. You have too. Including the viewing public. |
BlueRayDick:I've been with three. Very beautiful good females. Treated me well. I was the asshóle who drifted away. At least I know I have no health complications or nightmares so maybe that's the answer about acting on their heartbreak with purported fetishisms. |
BlueRayDick:KingTom knows the fetishisms of the Efiks very well. Even as fetish as they are, the Obong of Calabar must go pay homage to the Uruans of Akwa Ibom. All the rites and everything for cleansing. Same with high-ranking titled Efik men. Even Donald Duke has to go pay homage regularly. He did so as Governor too. An atheist's stance would be put to test when he encounters the Uruans in their elements. ---- But on the flipside, the most Ibibio of cuisines are best prepared by the Uruans. Hilda Baci can't tie the culinary stiletto straps of a typical 17-year-old Uruan girl raised by an Uruan mother. I'd say the females make the best lovers too, from my experience. |
BlueRayDick:That's the Uruan people, a subgroup of Ibibio, and the main stock of the Efik people of Cross River. The Ibibio have five subgroups: The Annangs (Northern) , Central Ibibios where I am from (Southern and Eastern), Western Ibibio, Riverine Ibibio (Uruan and Efik). The people you see in the video are the Uruan subgroup who are the direct ancestors of the Efiks of Calabar and other parts of Cross River, and they are seen as the custodians of Ibibio theology. So the scariest of juju practises, the Ekpe cult which birthed the Nsibidi form of writing, and other such fetishisms are still very much practised there while the Central Ibibios have mostly been 'Christianised' since they were the base when the Europeans arrived. Whatever you see in that video is nothing compared to the actual thing practised. If you ever doubt the occult, supernatural, and juju, the Uruans would clear your doubt. And this is coming from me, a skeptic and cynic of such things. |
Happy New Year, everyone! Good to know all of the banter, trolling, and polarised arguments haven't been personalised. And we can keep the conversations going, our differences regardless. And happy birthday, Nihilistjnr and Odunharry. Those of us born in January are resilient and thrive regardless. Wishing you all individually and collectively the very best of 2024, and beyond. |

iamoyindamola:Joe was always Joséph1832 / Joéblocks. |
iamoyindamola:Likely in another form, with another moniker. Dude became the focus of a vicious coordinated attack for years after the fallout of the Miss Nairaland 2016. I don't know how Joe survived it since he was another focus. |
madridguy:Seun, while you are blaming your moderators on Twitter for ignoring tribalism, maybe you should be more proactive in banning people like Madridguy who instigate and fuel tribalism and ethnic prejudice on unrelated threads. Except you are in on it and making money off the controversies as we have always suspected. You are complicit unless you do something. |
joseph1832:I remember you, Lezz, Postman, and FT thought I was seeing patterns where there were none until I began sharing screenshots and links with you guys to corroborate it; then you noticed it yourselves. The guy is in on it. He'd only fool those ignorant of his antics. I saw him for what/who he really is years ago. |
Icrave4u:Use the quantifying description "most" or "some". Women would always want to get what they can from men until you set a standard about not wanting to be exploited and wanting gifts in return. And insist on it. Even the lady who's good to you, stops trying to leech on you, and is there because she really cares about you actually does leech on and extort from other men she can gaslight into giving her - her relatives and male acquaintances. Women would be women and you can't really change that, but just ensure you're not the man they are exploiting, leeching on, and disrespecting. As long as I ensure this, other men have to save themselves. The game is always on. Your job is to ensure you're not the one getting played. |
rdsco:It won't ironically. I've barely ever encountered any ex-convict who's reformed for better. The Nigerian Correctional System does everything but correct, apparently. |
I like her boldness and audacity. You can either despise women for their hypergamous yearnings or be intrigued by and emulate it sometimes. It takes the ability to jettison accountability and introspection to do that, and I sometimes wish I could. |
Nazgul:If you want to enjoy your romantic relationships, marriage, familial relationships, or other kind of personal relationships, keep them off social media. It's a rule I adhere to generally The timeline doesn't need to know who I am sleeping with, what she did with me, or what we have been up to. Untag yourself from these persons' posts when they tag you on social media too. And if we drift apart, the timeline doesn't need to know too. The best relationships flourish away from public scrutiny. I barely ever post such on my WhatsApp status which is limited to close contacts. Best way to avoid personal scandals and controversies on social media. |
NoSmoking:Paedophilia is what you defend? Cradle robber! Female Genital Mutilation, killing of twins, human sacrifice, slavery, and cannibalism used to be cultural things so why stop them? Culture is nothing if it's not dynamic in part or whole. |
Westerhoffe:That's the point with it being an android company to begin with. But I'd have thought they'd delve into electric vehicles. That's what a smartphone/computronic company should most likely do when diversifying its portfolio. |
While a lot of rich folks do that, a lot of relatives are entitled. Very entitled. You'd find relatives with no sustainable commercialisable skills who think it their right to demand money from highly-placed relatives. And they keep coming back. Popular examples are Mikel Obi and Osimhen, and the unpalatable experiences they had with their relatives. The exception would be a relative who is skilled and of good character. Plus familiarity breeds contempt. The extended family relationship and connection is a dicey one to navigate. Competition and decade-long grudges you thought had been squashed. Some years ago, I got to know about a certain Commissioner relative of mine who low-key bears malice because a certain pretty female chose to date my dad over him from decades ago when they were fresh out of high school. Second cousins both are. He said it casually in passing at an extended family gathering while we all laughed over it, but I could sense a slight resentment in the way he said it. Wealth and position hadn't erased it so if I was ever to be in need of his help and I was ignorant of that grudge, I'd have kept wondering why he rebuffed me. Thankfully, I never needed to go to him for anything, even when he wants me to draw close. This plays out in many families. There are so many reasons why rich folks don't help relatives. |
Why are people needlessly oversensitive? His erstwhile boss and the Ondo State House of Assembly tried to get him kicked out for demanding constitutional transfer of power when he became incapacitated. They made him the enemy and treated him badly till the last minute. I'd have been surprised if he was all moody and everything as that'd have meant he's a pretender. I like me a person who is upfront in how they feel. The Office of the Governor can't be personalised. Governance must go on. |
Kimbeast:Maybe; but then again, maybe not. You're the one who has to constantly give women money and has to pay for affection while they don't deem you worthy of reciprocating. I'm the one women have to please to keep, including with their money at intervals to reciprocate, and show affection. One has no standards so is treated as they like; the other has standards about how he wants to be treated. Who's insecure? ![]() |
donjazzet:Here: DissTroy:And here in response to Joe: DissTroy: |
andrewbaba44:So, what you mean is, Chelsea is the football version of Ajaokuta Steel Company - billions pumped into a moribund venture. That's harsh. |
MrDoGood:Like Twiiter influencers doing giveaways to strangers. |
