ToyinDipo:Build yours first. Stop getting jealous. As it stands, if there's a secession, we are good. Heck! My own clan (not just LGA) has corked oil heads. We'd thrive. We have relatively better leadership already. Have you heard of snake or monkey swallowing monies in Akwa Ibom? You should be thankful we aren't as violent as some of our neighbouring relatives in clamouring for total resource control. But keep being tribalistic, we'd answer you when you push us long enough. I already mentioned your brothers are in the NDDX, and Oil and Gas Free Zone Commissions created for us where they have no business without us complaining. Keep going with the tribal tirade and see what happens. I'm taking notes. |
emmaodet:When I was asking what Tinubu and Sanwo-Oli use the annual #760 billion IGR and almost #170 billion FAAC for to warrant the kind of borrowinh in trillions Lagos has in debt this January, they glossed over it. With remote work and economic diversification in my own state happening, how many arguments in favour of residing full-time in Lagos are valid? ------ 3 days ago, the the guy who claims to have a certain GloriousGbola was stating I moved to Akwa Ibom from Lagos for reasons he assunes. I moved to Akwa Ibom for my sanity! I moved for my security! I have never been harassed by the police here that's why EndSARS was like a party here. Please confirm this. EndSARS rallies in Akwa Ibom were like carnivals because most couldn't relate to police brutality, including me (and I hope I never do), but I have empathy for those who have so it was a solidarity protest/carnival for youths in other parts of Nigeria for those who organised it. I was busy at the office so didn't protest but I empathise with them. It was even the police protecting protesters while drinking and dancing with them. Doubt me, we place a bet and I post pictures and videos and proof. Lagos where every young man with a laptop is tagged a yahoo boy by extorting agberos and government officials, but here I want to even pitch to senior policemen 'cause I'm not worried about harassment. [/b] - Why should I live in Lagos where I have to buy water from 'olomi' like Jerrycan Boy, Gbola, mentions here daily?? Bragging about buying water from dirty rickety trucks they barely wash and untreated water most likely? Ah! - Why should I live in Lagos where I'd get stuck in traffic for 5 hours? - Where I can't see my kids leave for school by 7;00AM because I am on the road by 5AM? Where when I am back, they are already asleep? And I'm gone before they wake? Live in Lagos where there is no light or plans to improve it actively when my state government in Akwa Ibom built a state power company which is even transmitting to some communities and is pressuring the federal government to give autonomy because it is ready to transmit to the whole state? Damn it! As far back as 2005, my LGA was having 24/7 electricity and there were no LPG stations or kerosene depots because its useless with 24/7 electricity. Please confirm this. While we were battling electricity issues in Lagos all that while. In Lagos, where I am worried if I am on the go by 2:00AM, the best thing to expect is being robbed? Best because anything less than best would end up with you getting dismembered. Where I am scared of Ember months kidnappers of my kids? Have you been hearing of ritual killings in Akwa Ibom? Rampant stories of missing body parts? No! Security is the culture in Akwa Ibom. --- In Lagos where I am taxed to death by Tinubu's agberos and his daughter? Lagos which has constantly been top 2 of the world' most unlivable cities? Largest slum? Massive slums all over without planning? These people who haven't seen what a decently functional government which is accountable to some extent think their hard life and societal struggles in Lagos make them cooler than others. ---- They should move to come see us live their holidays as our everyday life - easy-going, safe, relaxed, fun, beautiful scenery and friendly people. When you experience Ibeno Beach in Akwa Ibom or the one in my LGA which is open to the public and neatly kept from being desecrated, you'd understand the Kuramo Beach and Bar Beach of Lagos don't come close. Do they want me to mention the beaches at Itu and Ukanafun where the waters are literally blue like in the Caribbeans and you can see the floor, they'd realize what they are missing out of. ] By the way, if you didn't explore these places, you didn't even explore Akwa Ibom. I could go on and on naming natural tourist spots that'd blow your mind in Akwa Ibom. See how I didn't mention Ekiti, Osun, Ondo and the likes? It's insulting to mention those backward states to Akwa Ibom on all indices, yet those are the states of all of them claiming Lagos which is even underperforming. They are ashamed to even mention their States of Origin and Akwa Ibom beats all of them combined. Are those the kind of people anyone should take seriously? Even one from Kogi, the most backward state in Nigeria, thought he had an opinion on Akwa Ibom which is centuries ahead of Kogi. |
ToyinDipo:Clown! We are already doing better than most states developmentally. Still in this same shambled Nigeria, Akwa Ibom has its own airline we built which the FGN can't dream of with the best services and quality. International stadium. World-class digital library. World-class road. World-class drainage system. More secured than Nigeria as a whole. More peaceful than Nigeria as a whole. I could go on and on. Akwa Ibom is thriving at a faster rate than Nigeria. |
Even as far back as 1975 to 1980, oil was contributing as much as ~40℅ to Nigeria's GDP. 40%! https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PETR.RT.ZS?end=1980&locations=NG&start=1975 Who do you want to deceive with lies? Ken Saro Wiwa got killed for it. Ogoni is unlivable. It's about 40 minutes drive across state lines from my LGA. You need to see how damaged this place is. I'm just lucky Akwa Ibom didn't get damaged by the oil exploration. Yet imagine bragging to an Ogoni man who suffers this ruin, telling him you accommodate him in Lagos while feeding on the feeds from his lands. |
ToyinDipo:Shut up, you liar! Oil contributes ~ 26.04 to the GDP of Nigeria until about last quarter of 2022 when ICT overtook it. Now it has risen again overtaking ICT since I reported it here in October. And oil contributes more to Nigeria because NNPC Ltd remits only 80% revenue in theory to the FG while keeping 20%. And oil companies handle 40% of total oil which the FG still taxes in the background. We are even benevolent enough to share excess crude oil acoount with all states so shut up! Where are your cocoa and groundnut now? You abandoned it to focus on free oil yet any little argument, you ask our mutual relatives ri leave your land. What does Ekiti or Osun contribute to Nigeria? What?! Yet we aren't complaining. You think we in Akwa Ibom can't start successful agitations? You think if we team up with the Ijaws, Binis and Urhobos Nigeria would survive it? |
demanuel:If you work remotely already, you should move. Leave that madness which is Lagos for your sanity's sake. If you intend to start a business, it works too. If you are looking for a job in Akwa Ibom, ensure you have a solid plan before moving or a backup allowance to aid you. Uyo (the metropolis entirely), Eket and Ikot Ekpene are your best bets. And if you are skilled, you'd survive. Igbos and Yorubas in Akwa Ibom don't consider relocating and have fully integrated into the state, many of them marrying Akwa Ibom women too. And, no, we'd never be tribalistic enough to ask you to leave our land over an argument or because of your voting pattern. I assure you. - Remote work. Move. - Starting a business. Move. (No omo onile or agberos would tax you to death except LG tax paid once monthly.) - Seeking jobs. Make your research first then move. Port Harcourt is ~2 hours drive from Uyo too. |
For the guy above, I checked his threads and found out he's 21 and at crossroads with life choices so I understand his angst with the Nigerian system in general or wanting the government to give him a hand. I understand, bro. I do. I hope governments at all levels do more, and you somehow find light however long that tunnel is. --- Interestingly, I just found out he made a post to brag about the developmental strides in Akwa Ibom over the years. Just a few pictures. Well, that answers it. Look at how clean the places are: https://www.nairaland.com/7348830/akwaibom-overated . Celebrate the gains while continuing to hold government accountable. Two truths can exist. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:LOL. I won't, except you want pictures already online because I used the pictures I took for the gallery of a website I built for a client who later insisted I join the board. We are organising a massive international tourism, culture and more event, all things being equal. You should get ready to come explore Akwa Ibom live. You'd love it. I PROMISE. |
A40:Akpabio 'chopped' our money well but he did well. In fact, Akpabio was building federal roads with Akwa Ibom money. Ikot Ekpene - Aba road was built with our moneybehcih hasn't been refunded. Only the Akwa Ibom part of the Ikot Abasi - Eleme road is good and pliable. Rivers boys frustrated GEJ in 2010 when it begun while Akapbio was spending money to augment it. Calabar - Itu road (the Akwa Ibom part). I don't know how many cities have underground drainage systems but by 2011, Akpabio had built an underground drainage system in Uyo and workers on standby to maintain it. Under Akpabio when it was 100% mainained, 2 minutes after it rains in Uyo metropolis, you won't find a single drop of water on the roads. Ask anybody. Akpabio's dynasty would always be respected in Akwa Ibom for decades. |
CrystalTiger:Several. Ewet housing? Shelter Afrique? Countless estates and real estate firms. The man whose campaign I handled in 2019 has a massive estate, amongst others. If you want a house in a smart estate in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, then you'd get one. Even if you want one this weekend. The duplexes in the phase 2 are under construction so if you want 3 bedroom or 6 bedroom en suite houses in a smart estate fully tarred with electricity, CCTV and tbe ilikes, no problem. |
Theflint1:Yup! Duke was popular because of the Calabar Carnival but Uyo was just as clean. Duke focused on tourism too much with the money while Attah focused on infrastructure. When the excess money came, Akpabio focused on tourism, entertainment, massive infrastructure and mad image rebranding. He did well. Ballzproblem2:If an Ibibio girl gets with you, you are hooked. If an Oron girl gets with you, no love portion can break it. So, no, when people say Akwa Ibom people take the bedroom game to a whole new level, I don't argue or find it condescending because it's true. People who eat a lot of seafoods have been known to have a high libido. That's why an Oron or Ijaw girl can literally break your waist, and guys from there don't need aphrodisiacs. |
A40:Attah and Odili were the ones who fought for the 13% oil derivation formula. Its the reason Obasanjo fellout with his erstwhile friends, Attah of Akwa Ibom and Odili of Rivers. When the money arrived in 2007, Attaj was going out. But Attah did a lot. The foundation of everything Akwa Ibom enjoys today is Attah. He's an Architect so designed the international airport, the golf resorts, the science park, the stadium. He did some and with the money Akpabio got, he did more. But Akpabio was a better governor than Udom but it's because Akpabio set the bar very high. The good thing? Attah is alive, revered but never meddles in the politics. He refuses to anoint anyone since 2007 till date so all sides rever him. He refuses to be an active godfather. |
Theflint1:Uyo? Eket? My LGA? Uyo Metropolis. It depends on what part. Eket. Forget it. Expatriates and moneybags have bought up most parts. My LGA. Close to.the ocean. #7- 8 million. In the center close to the companies and tourist centers, varies depending on the seller. And most hold on tight incase new oil deposits are found in their backyards. ![]() |
And, by the way, since most of you already know my names and Facebook, I tell you this: My LGA is: 1. Where Lugard lived and signed the amalgamation of Nigeria. I can even upload pictures of a documentary I did 3 years ago. 2. Is where you have the Bridge of No Return and was one of the first settlements of the Europeans. There are a number of mixed people from my LGA. 3. Is the site of the 1929 Women Riot. It wasn't Aba Women Riot. 4. Is where Jaja of Opobo lived for a while after slavery before going off to rule Opobo closeby. 5. Is a tourist city through and through. Everything about it is designed for tourism. Both rides and the rest. I can connect you to tour guides if you want. 6. Is the only LGA in Nigeria which can boast of constant electricity. 7. Roads (including street roads) are all tarred. |
OasisX:The APC and the PDP candidates are both good men. Although the PDP candidate is a stooge and I like the APC guy who is a self-made young billionaire and employer of labour. Also, in Akwa Ibom politics, if you ever have a tag as a violent person or cultist, your politcal career is over. That's what schemed the YPP Governorship candidate out who's a Senator and the Chairman of the Senate Petroleum Committee. A Wike can never happen in Akwa Ibom politics. And regardless of your campaigns, you must follow the Akwa Ibom 30 years blueprint set by the ex Governor Victor Attah in 1999. Whether APC, PDP, or LP, only that blueprint. So I already know key projects the new governor would handle even before he emerges. Yes, we are blessed. |
obainojazz:The Calabar you knew is dead. The current governor screwed everything up. Calabar is now dirty and unsafe. Withdrawing money from ATM after 5PM is at your own risk. Uyo and Eket in Akwa Ibom are what you knew Calabar as. Although Eket is more expensive because of the oil companies around and expatriates living there. Ibeno with the longest natural beach in West Africa is close to Eket and is the closest you'd get to a Carribean-esque scenery in Nigeria. |
A40:Back to back for years, Akwa Ibom has been the cleanest state in Nigeria. By 2024, we'd be completely off the naitonal grid as we have our own power-producing company and have scaled to produce 768MW of electricity since 2021. Well-tarred roads only Abuja can boast of. Good electricity supply. Tech city. Perfect for remote workers. The most secure and peaceful state in Nigeria. Best ease of doing business in the whole of Southern Nigeria and number 4 as whole. Great night life. Akwa Ibom is built as a tourist city. Every Governor must follow a blueprint. I have all of these on offer and I'd settle for the madness and insecurity of Lagos? God forbid! |
liveLongNprospa:Delta? You are my Immediate brother competing with me for oil production which feeds these our geopolitical relatives enough to chestbeat and threaten to chase out our cousins during any argument. Remind this people who the real accomodators are. Their sons are even in the NDDC and Oil ans Gas Free Zone Commissions created for us but we aren't chasing them out. Let them keep the tribalism up. At least for the Oil and Gas Free Zone headquartered in Onne and NDDC in Port Harcourt, we'd get answers for those real soon. Continue spreading hatred. |
Theflint1:My fellow oil brother feeding this country while not discriminating anyone. Continue being tolerating and let's keep feeding these people. Some of us have to be the mature ones. |
Theflint1:Lies! Every region made their contribution. In fact, after slave trade ended, the Europeans focused on the Niger Delta and the areas close by to get the most profitable thing in the place now known as Nigeria - palm oil! It wasn't cocoa or groundnut. Which places are known for producing palm oil then and now? Still the same places which produce petroleum today. So when some term me Akpan thinking it's derogatory, I revel in it proudly. Akpan feeds, clothes and gives you everything you survive on. Akpan's benevolence is why you have an electric pole or health centre. Akpan has so much of this money, his state has continued to improve and develop while he has enough to spare to feed you with. Next time you go tribalistic, remember this. The reason you have a Nigeria which manages to thrive is because of Akpan, Osaze, and Belema. Never forget it. You needed to be reminded today. There's only one set of people who should chestbeat here and it isn't you. The day I change from Akpan to hard-palm, it's over for you. But keep being tribalistic. |
liveLongNprospa:Yet idiots came like bees seeking DissTróy when the results were announced. We've even confirmed there was violence in those places Akpabio gave Tinubu votes. Paid thugs brandishing matchetes from LGAs bordering Abia State. I who saw many things told them the results were rigged and rewritten but they argued. We've checked INEC IReV and it's not adding up. Election result figures from my polling unit was cropped out but we have the real snapped result. In Oil Mill, Obio Akpor LGA, Rivers, you aren't born of a woman to mention Tinubu or Atiku, but that's where Tinubu won? How? |
liveLongNprospa:Damn straight! We've been quiet for too long. Imagine depending on me for pocket money as a distant relative yet asking one of our mutual relative who lodges in your part of the estate but feeds and clothes himself to vacate the premises? Then I'd have to in turn stop the allowance and turn off the light. Good luck surviving on your own. Like Wizkid said, call me daddy. |
liveLongNprospa:Show me one Delta Governor or Governorship candidate who can't speak any of the major ethinic languages of Delta fluently. Even Deputy Giverbor or DG candidate. Just one. I'd wait. ![]() |
Shegzdave:It's not for you. It's for the tribalist here. You responded to my post about Akwa Ibom producing the largest oil for this country, right? That was to expatriate. It's valid regardless. Indigenes of states who conrinute nothing to the economy of this country should shut up and be brotherly with other Nigerians in their places just as we are brotherly enough to fund your very socioeconomic lives with our oil and money without asking you to stop asking for more money. If those teibalists ask others to leave their lands, they should be ready to feed without our precious oil. Maybe we have been too calm. Rhetorics isn't exclusive to any single group. For everyone's good, the should learn to tone down on the bigotry. They can support your candidate without denigrating other tribes. |
Shegzdave:The people here who are tribalistic should remember that. If all of us decide to go full tribal bigot, Nigeria would be no more. Maybe they have forgotten I lay the golden eggs. In fact, my own LGA and clan lay those eggs. Some communities like Ogoni are unliveable to fund your states while you brag. Whatever you chestbeat about to mock other tribes is built by the money I give you even though my own state is better off on many indices, thankfully. The very roads you walk on are tarred by my money. We've seen the IGRs of most of the states.. We know most add nothing to Nigeria. We know most are just consumption states. They'd have been better off sold as farmlands to expatriates. If anyone should be chestbeating and being tribalistic here daily, it should be me and those from communities which fund this geopolitical entity called Nigeria. But, ironically, those of us from the oil-producing regions are the last to ever go tribalistic. What do you people contribute to the economy of Nigeria? Can you answer that? Leave Lagos alone, there are 5 other states. What do they contribute? You think the agitation spirit in us is dead? You contribute nothing to the economy but keep taking yet every little conversation about our sociopolity, you resort to asking people to leave your land or asking them to be thankful you accommodate them. Accommodate them based on survival allowance you get from my lands? From my waters? From the cocked oil heads scattered all over my ancestral lands, more of which are waiting to be tapped, drilled and fund your states yet you have the effrontery to be tribalistic? I should be the one doing what you are doing. But keep being tribalistic. Keep giving radicals amongst those of us who fund this country reasons to cause mayhem with your utterances. |
liveLongNprospa:Actually, yes. It's even worse if you live amongst your tribesmen but can't speak your language. Banky W too lived abroad but learnt to speak Yoruba. Did you see Chidi Mokeme speaking fluent Yrouba and Igbo in "Shanty Town" movie series? Where did he learn the Yoruba? Wasn't it in the same Lagos? Let's be honest - nobody running for governor in Akwa Ibom who can't speak Ibibio wouldn't be criticized. Akpabio is Annang - an Ibibiod subgroup - but he speaks fluent Ibibio deliberately as a politician. Even Ben Murray Bruce speaks intelligible Ijaw and was Senator in Bayelsa, yet he's part-White and looks it too. If Ben can speak Ijaw without ever living in Bayelsa, GRV has no excuse not to speak fluent Yoruba living in Lagos. The issue is the tribal bigotry. |
Shegzdave:More pointedly, it's my Akwa Ibom money since we have been the largest oil producers since 2009 unrivalled. When next people here try to go tribalist, remember the benevolence of those of us who let you benefit from our lands. Your amounting to anything developmental wise is due to us and us being open-minded to consider you as brothers. But let's not get into that. The issue is on the elections. ![]() |
A001:I don't know GRV. He's young - good, but youth isn't the only criterion. Yahaya Bello has proved we need more credentials than youthfulness. He's not campaigned based on his credentials. ----- His Igbo tag doesn't matter to you because ethnic bigotry matters little to you. I could post links to at least 10 top influencers in Lagos in the Tinubu camp going full tribal bigotry on GRV and using his part-Igbo ancestry as a rallying cry that Igbos want to install one of their own as the Governor. |
A001:This isn't about GRV. I barely know his antecedence and leaders have to be judged based on antecedence. It's about Obi and the seething hatred anyone seemingly from his tribe who leans towards him has been getting. These people are campaigning against him because GRV has an Igbo mother. Chinedu is being used as rallying call against him and not him not speaking not speaking fluent Yoruba (which he should). His affiliation with Obi is making him being labeled IPOB. The Governor of Ondo State has an Igbo wife. Are you saying his children with her are less Yrouba because of their mother? Gov. Adeleke has Igbo maternal ancestry so did it make him less Yoruba? Even on Facebook and Twitter, GRV's Igbo maternal link is being used against him. Even Kemi Adeosun couldn't speak Yoruba but it wasn't an issue. The kangaroo packaged herbalist A.K.A Oko Oloyun can keep going with his hypocritical tribal hatred but he should know some of us saw the ruse in his hyped neutrality long ago and called it. His continued prayer should include people he deals with oflline not finding out he's a hateful tribal bigot online. |
I wish I had a cybercafe though. I wish I had the patience to focus on training folks hands-on physically, but I'm divested in doing it remotely. You've seen my business, you've seen my [then] office, you've seen my face. I don't hide. You are the one hiding. Your worst fear is your boss discovering you are a tribal bigot on Nairaland. My worst fear is details being hidden since more visibility translates to more patronage. Hypocritical hateful clown. Now continue typing Chinedu and making the elections which is about choices and even the candidate you secretly supported getting votes from the tribe you have been spewing hatred against in their states about tribes while you celebrate Nigerians becoming Ministers, MPs and even contesting as PMs in non-African countries. Imagine if the ethnics of those places were as close-minded and hateful as yourself. Imagine the closed opportunities to you and yours. |
