Theflint1:Dude, the build up to the No Man's Land being parroted didn't begin today. The violence of the elections didn't take place today. Filtering your search beam to today alone is being disingenuous. Again, overtly or covertly through 'likes' and playing blind, stop edging on people who trigger whole groups of people with such comments. It makes you just as guilty. Maybe the indigenous ethnics of Lagos are nicer. Calabar was an FCT for a few months before it was moved to Lagos. Try calling or insinuating Calabar is a no man's land and you'd be decapitated there and then on the streets. Not beaten - decapitated. Ask King-Tom to explain how Calabar South boys (the Efiks) would react. Calabar is a multicultural mix too like Lagos. If you won't take it - don't dish it. |
Amigoss:Another response. I don't need to live in Lagos. I was born in and raised in Lagos, and visit when necessary. You aren't the custodian of Lagos. Is this the part where you lots visit my Facebook account to post details because I called you out for enabling those who trigger others by calling Lagos a no man's land? Don't go through the hassle - I'd post the information myself. ![]() |
Theflint1:Dude, you lied nobody on this thread has ever claimed Lagos is a no man's land. I brought evidence of Donjazet reiterating so and taunting those who think otherwise to cry him a river. Even Izzou countered him there and then. Evidence Amoto and others have referenced over and over again. This was a few years ago. Not today. Feast on your L. You are a night soil man. ![]() |
KingTom:Not to defend him but he was referring to replicating massively what Donald Duke did in Cross River with tourism in Akwa Ibom. Plans have already even begun for Ibom Carnival from the rumours I've heard, like the Calabar Carnival. The Governor-elect is in the tourism sector. A hotelier with about 27 hotels spread across various states under the Royalty brand. I'm not his biggest fan but what he said was deliberately misconstrued by the opposition that's why you'd see clips. I'd have preferred two other candidates, the APC guy being one of them based on antecedence. |
Theflint1:You are obviously the night soil man. I don't emotions. Here's just one from this this section. donjazet:Facts only! ![]() |
Spy360:Let's be factual here. You should already know I don't do emotional reactions. There are at least 20 local search results pages on Nairaland of arguments being about Lagos being a no man's land, for and against it. 20 pages multiplied by 30 comments per page is 600 instances of back-and-forths about the topic. Please verify here: https://www.nairaland.com/search?q=Lagos+no+man%27s+land&search=Search . And we haven't yet factored in hidden comments and the Nairaland Tsunami. Local-search "Lagos no man's land" on Twitter and Facebook this minute, and you'd realize the proponents of that narrative are non-Yorubas from both the South South and South East. They happen to also form a significant part of Obi's support base as well as other candidates. A relative few of such instances but it was repeated and re-echod over the years to get on the nerves. The extremists saw an opportunity but latched on to it. Maybe we should have done more to quell the narrative. Maybe we ignored it and let the few voices become sparks and little fires. The extremists fueled that fire for political gain but they didn't light it. I don't do emotions. I do facts! So anybody blaming Obedients or LP supporters for the use of the language have actually fallen into the ethnocentric trap of the APC thugs unknowingly and many generally good Yoruba guys fell for it.You do realize Obi, Tinubu and Atiku's supporters aren't monoethic support bases, right? They cut across. There are literally Yorubas on this thread who canvassed for Peter Obi more than Igbos, and on the wider social media. Why do you ascribe my comment to being about Obidients? Man, I was "Obedient" - if you'd call me that - since 2018 and have posted my Nairaland comments backing up my claims - even when some where wishing ill of the man. Don't make this about Obidients or the LP. This is about calling out erring people - a small fraction, even if they overlap as "my people". You want the saner and liberal Yorubas to call out the hateful tribalists here? Then let's lead the way by calling out those amongst us who needlessly trigger people or fuel animosity with their disrespectful comments. Again, two truths can exist: - Anyone calling Lagos a no man's land or implicitly supporting it is a cretin, and; - Any halfwit tacitly supporting the violence in Lagos and the hateful targeting of tribes has a blôwjob date with drugged piranhas. |
DontBullshitMe:Accept it to begin with for peace and respect's sake. Calling Lagos a "No man's land" is a devious attempt at erasing the identities and heritage of its indigenes. A man is nothing without his identity. He feels less without his roots. There's a reason Black Americans and other displaced blacks from world over spend a lot on genealogy just for the satisfaction of knowing they have a source. Two truths can exist: - You can condemn the violence in Lagos, and; - Outrightly condemn any attempts to erase the heritage of Lagos indigenes. |
DontBullshitMe:Stop the posturing. I'm not saying majority of non-indigenous people in Lagos say it but calling the lands of my ancestors a "No man's land" even once by a significant number of people would trigger me to defend my heritage. The issue is, while a few pockets of dissenting voices said it to trigger people in online arguments, most people never refer to Lagos as a "No man's land". It was blown out of proportion for divisive political optics. |
Itsrm:Thank you. The heifer mod should take notes. Most people can detect my writing style and I don't use unknown alternates. |
seankafor:Cool. I hope the next Yahoo boy who dabbles into the occult uses this as a justification when he's cozying up to your unsuspecting female relatives. Legal or illegal, remember? Let it go round. |
seankafor:Without the moral colouration, if all of us become fraudsters and purveyors of every financial vice there is, who'd be left to do the actual hands-on legitimate work whose proceeds the criminals pilfer? |
KingTom:✅✅✅ |
OasisX:Ironic that for all of the liberalism we ascribe to ourselves in the South, the first Nigerian female governor was elected by the North, the 'Core' North. |
Ironically, the guy threatening to throw people out of Lagos and claiming "Our Lagos" and Lagosian isn't even from Lagos to begin with. You have no ancestral home or legacy to point to in Lagos but you want to chase people who emigrated there like you a few years ago? The joke writes itself. ribbit: |
User09:Maybe; then again, maybe not. What's certain, however, is that many people, even on this thread, are justifying the hatred and violence. The good thing is, if there was ever a doubt about where they stand on such socioethnic issues, those doubts are gone with the wind. The next time those slighted cozy up to their "egbons" here, they should rationalize whether whatever favours they hope to curry outweigh being thought of as less than human. But people have short memories or the envisaged favours stemming from greed can erode their self worth. |
ShaqFu:Cross River State University of Technology. KingTom:Cool, but don't post falsehood. At least not about what's mine. The prevailing topic today has been about the tribal-themed election violence in Lagos yesterday and the hateful tribal narratives all through. Out of the blues, you mentioned Akwa Ibomites and Cross Riverians are just as tribalistic. I was never going to let that fly, characteristically, so I countered it with verifiable fact. Focus on the topic or turn a blind eye, but don't falsely use my people as justification for endorsing the madness which happened in Lagos and the narratives leading up to it. I'd always defend my constituency. I've done so since day one on Nairaland. |
KingTom:I don't know. Until we have clear examples/instances of such, our assumptions are just what they are - assumptions, templated on ambiguous notions. You related it to Akwa Ibom and Cross River so I had to respond. As for the SUG matter, call your friends in UNICAL and ask them what CRIM meansLOL. KingTom, you want to see some names of Akwa Ibomites who held key positions in not just UniCal SUG which is a federal school but CruTech? |
abc115: |
Donjazet2:Guess who always goes on and on about living in Festac on this thread? LP (whom he's tagged an Igbo party and the Obi he hates so much winning in his backyard). Lost in Desmond Elliott's constituency only to win in his. Nothing is more ironic than life! ![]() |
KingTom:The position of Chief Justice is too sensitive. Always would be. All Chief Justices and Governors should actually have solid roots in the state. Ikpeme is a full Akwa Ibomite. She wasn't even born in Cross River or her family migrated there. When Akpabio as Akwa Ibom Governor collected all 72 oil wells from Cross River in 2009 leaving them without any oil, Cross River politics being dominated by my people ( the Ibibios) partly and the Efiks was why they couldn't put up a good fight to at least get some. At least put up a strong fight. Even some of us from Akwa Ibom felt Akpabio shouldn't have insisted on taking all from our brothers but it is what it is. You need a Chief Justice with solid roots in the state to fight for that. Would a Russian born and raised in Russia be made Chief Justice in America? Unlikely. Too sensitive. But with Russian roots and born ans raised in America? Likely. But many commissioners from Donald Duke's time to Imoke and the current one were and are from Akwa Ibom. Many Permanent Secretaries in Cross River are from Akwa Ibom too. That nullifies your claims. In Akwa Ibom, many village heads in boundary LGAs like Itu are from Cross River/ have Cross River roots. In the Oro-speaking axis of Akwa Ibom like Oron, Mbo, Okobo, Udung Uko and the likes, Cross Riverians are vying for office and being elected. The Ibibios and Efiks dominate Akwa Ibom and Cross River sociopolitics but the current Governor of Cross River is from Northern Cross River, those considered minorities of minorities to and by us. You want a list of Cross Riverians in SUGs in Akwa Ibom and vice versa, or in state governments? Several. Add what I have explained now with you acknowledging Akwa Ibom or Cross River don't mind Igbos, Yorubas or others taking key positions in our governments and schools, and it completely erodes your claims of tribalism. Plus the dynamics of Cross River is crazy. I'm glad I'm not from there in a way. Ikom LGA alone in Cross River has 17 languages and tribes. Good luck handling that. |
DissTroy:KingTom, you didn't respond to this. I didn't expect that you would given your claims in the post I quoted are founded on falsehood. Here's one to begin with: Mr. Emma Owuala is the SA to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Talent Hunt, and works directly with him and the Commissioner for Tourism and Entertainment. He's from Abia State and his wife hails from Cross River State. Facebook personal profile: https://www.facebook.com/emmanuel.owuala Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/mremmanuelowuala/ Go through his account and you'd notice him discussing indepthly about intra-politics in the state with nobody being tribalistic against him, not even opposition faithfuls. There are several more examples in government and in various SUGs. I've compiled a number of them in the last few hours. I was never going to let that falsehood fly. Don't lie. |
DissTroy:The Grammar guy got cheated and was asking others to intercede for him. self-servicer! His comrades who also got cheated nominated him to start a petition against those who cheated them (after all, he's the GrammarNazi, right?) but guess what the self-acclaimed Nazi did? Run! He ghosted on everyone. He's been running since February 2016. You aren't even man enough to demand for redress after being cheated but you are online threatening people. Dimwitted coward!
|
To the Grammar guy being tribalistic here; it's ironic that when you encountered difficulties dealing with a foreign agency online and felt cheated, the first person you thought of calling for help was Oby Ezekwesili, an Igbo. You didn't think of any other person to run to for help but an Igbo woman. Her tribe didn't matter then. Oby is from the same 'Chinedu' tribe you have been antagonistic against all morning on this thread. Instead of celebrating your preferred candidates' victories at the polls (or the semblance of victories), you are pushing hateful narratives. The joke writes itself. But continue hating.

Donjazet2:Donjazet, there was no precedence in Lagos of Igbos being targeted. Not in 2011, 2015, or 2019. Izu, I, and the others who vehemently countered your rhetorics did so based on precedence. You were asked to produce one instance of such but you couldn't. Two truths can exist: 1. It didn't happen in the past in Lagos, and; 2. It happened yesterday. It almost seems like, regardless of the election results outcome, you wanted the tribal-themed violence to happen so much so you can have your "I told you so" moment(s). ---- Here's something else which has to be pointed out: Stop triggering people needlessly! You underestimate how calling Lagos "No Man's Land" and Obi " The New King of Lagos" did as a rallying cry. You were giving the tribal extremists weapons to aim at you. |
KingTom:Are you willing to place a bet on this? I'd supply you with actual names, Facebook accounts and exact details of people from other states who held and are holding key positions in Akwa Ibom and Cross River in both the state governments and various school SUGs. Both the ones I knew and from contacts I can reach out to. ![]() |
Emaprince:If they want me to post it on my Facebook account this minute, I'd do so. Then in 10 minutes they can confirm by viewing it. The worthless pricks who were playing neutrals and saints are here celebrating sham victories where certain tribes are being attacked and killed in Lagos. I won't have visited this thread safe for this mention. I could already predict the comments I'd read and the devious stances. To those of you sane ones cozying up to these evil-enablers on this thread in the name of "egbon" so you don't ruffle feathers and can go seek favours later, you are worse than them. Your stomachs and greed have drawn the blinds over your eyes even as your tribesmen and other innocent Nigerians are being treated like poop. Cûrsed be you till the end of time for your part in suppressing every hope of sociopoliticoeconomic progress, starting from the ballot! |
DontBullshitMe:Uyo, Eket, Ikot Abasi, Itu, and Ikot Ekpene. Those are the main industrial areas. Ikot Abasi is already home to many manufacturing industries (including non-oil) so has been getting electricity transmitted from Ibom Power Company since 2007 or so, including as host community of the power plant. Eket is mostly oil compmanies and related giants. Udom has no option than to do so (prioritize industrial areas). Like I mentioned weeks ago, the plan isn't his to begin with but a grand plan. If we can get either of the two candidates I prefer today, then I can be rest assured the grand plan would be implemented faster. |
PDPGuy:I've been looking forward to this amendment for years. We are ready for it. My state of origin at least. -Ibom Power Company: https://www.ibompower.com - 190 MW already being generated and transmitted to my own LGA at least and the rest fed into the national grid. An extra 500MW capacity added a year ago: https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2022/01/25/ibom-power-targets-generation-increase-with-new-500mw-plant/ - 732 MW upgrade: https://guardian.ng/news/akwa-ibom-adp-sign-732mw-agreement-on-ibom-power-plant/ These are my main concerns. Others should hold their leaders at the state level accountable too instead of focusing only on the Presidency. |
BlueRayDick:I gave precedence of Oro happening in broad daylight in the 2000s with the authorities looking the other way, but you argued that won't be the case. Pictures and videos are surfacing to buttress my stance. I didn't want to respond until election day. You obviously do not realize how crazy this country is. The impossible is possible in Nigeria. |
ShaqFu:Joe! Joe! Let me help you with another one. While you are all making Emefiele the fall guy for the Naira redesign, Buhari appointed Aisha Buhari's biological brother as the Managing Director of Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company just before he announced the redesign policy. It was Buhari's plan all along. https://saharareporters.com/2022/09/01/buhari-appoints-first-lady-aishas-brother-managing-director-nigerian-security-printing Multiple hundreds of billions have been earmarked for and spent on the Naira redesign but it's been a failure so far. Asiha Buhari is pointing at the cabals while her own brother is the reason we are in this mess. Yet Emefiele is the fall guy and Buhari the innocent one. Let's make excuses for Buhari. |
Voting LP from "top to bottom" just for the sake of it is illogical. It only makes sense when the candidates have lesser baggages compared to their opponents on the ballot. Scrutinise the alternatives you want on the LP platform like you scrutinised the presidential candidates. For example, there's this guy, Harrison Gwamishu, running for State House Reps in Aniocha, Delta State: https://www.nairaland.com/7614401/lp-house-assembly-candidate-harrison . If you were in the know about the most scandalous happenings on Nigerian Facebook between 2017 to 2022, you should know Harrison. He endorsed and vouched for the infamous Chinmark ponzi scammer, got a car and other gifts which he refused to return when the lid blew open. He vouched for Ovaioza ponzi scheme too. Though he calls himself a human rights activist, he's a self-confessed cultist who also went to jail for a violent crime. Don't take my word for it - local-search on Facebook. In seeking to overhaul the "Establishment", we might open the doorway for dubious persons masquerading as people-lovers. This Saturday, it's not LP from top to bottom for me. I'm voting individuals with the best credentials across party lines. It should be the same for you. |
