Hi Silvamania, I need to confirm this with you. I am in British Columbia. Lets chat. I sent a DM
silvamania:

Please note that you can work for more than 20hours per week during this COVID 19 period .

I asked during a Q&A with government officials in New Brunswick and they confirmed it

All the best

UBC is out too
drhammed:
Sorry guys! McGill is out of Mastercard. Meanwhile, you can still apply to schools in Lebanon, France, South Africa & UC Berkeley.

Folks, please apply & start from somewhere- don't put all your eggs in basket.

Congratulations Rotiab.
Rootiab:
I have finally sent my passport to vfs today. Please I'm resuming may 10th. When is advisable to travel.
Education / Re: Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, Enter Here by ditha(f): 10:36pm On Mar 15
MasterCard will not ask u to pay money to confirm enrollment, be careful not to fall for a scam.

maybe things are different with Mcgill but I suggest you Email the program coordinator and ask for clarification. You can also email the MasterCard office.

Check linkedin and connect with MasterCard scholars in Mcgill
phillipa92:
Thank you for your response. But based on your response, I even have more questions to ask. From what I have seen through previous chats, the MCF decisions for McGill usually come out in early April (correct me if I am wrong). However, in my acceptance letter into the program (I received it two weeks ago), my department wants me to confirm enrollment and possibly pay their enrollment deposit by 29th March. I am, therefore, a little confused how I can send in the deposit while I am yet to confirm whether MCF will take me in or not... and I know for sure, I can NEVER afford McGill without some sort of financial assistance.

Sorry about that and better luck next time. Commonwealth shared scholarship is currently on if you feel motivated to apply

I didn't make it. Will try again another time.

Edinburgh will send out rejection towards the end of march...
Chukeg:

Do you know if Edinburgh do send rejection mails or only invite mails?
Education / Re: Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, Enter Here by ditha(f): 3:23pm On Feb 23
yes
AyjayE:

Okay thank you. So if I may ask, you are UBC scholar currently?
Education / Re: Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, Enter Here by ditha(f): 9:52am On Feb 23
yeah
Deexa01:

Wow. But you received an invite for the UBC interview before then?
Education / Re: Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, Enter Here by ditha(f): 9:38am On Feb 23
You have to stay positive and open. I applied to 6 scholarships last year,4 sent rejections, one had me on waiting list, only UBC pulled through. the day i got a call from UBC, i received my rejection letter from Edinburgh like 20minutes and had already given up b4 UBC called.
I don't know any of the scholars that have returned to Naija
AyjayE:
I’m really tired of rejection. Here and there, all the applications just keep coming back with negative news. I bin think say I go japa this year o. Also, I want to ask, after the scholarship, do the scholars really come back to naija or they find their way from there?

Congrats @ditha. I am so happy for you especially because I also experienced how challenging this online study and visa journey has been. It’s been 6 months now from September till now. Whew! I can’t wait to get my passport back and touch down Canada too.
It will end in praise!
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by ditha(f): 11:04am On Feb 12
my program started in september 2020, i started online
Well, i dont know if we were all students on my flight because i didn't notice any separate queue for covid testing or isolation. I am saying they
haven't started it yet in vancouver
lentomac:

Hi ditha,

Thank God for the safe journey

1) Is your Intake for January, May or September?

2) I quote CIC, which says

"A number of people are exempt from these travel restrictions, such as Canadian citizens, permanent residents, certain temporary foreign workers, certain international students, or immediate and extended family members of Canadians, among others".

Sequel to the above statement,
apart from the 14-days Compulsory quarantine, does that mean that the new restriction (the $2000 3-days hotel hish) is not applicable to international students?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by ditha(f): 6:26am On Feb 12
not yet

I arrived Canada yesterday and it was preetty smooth through the airport. Although the quarantine is stricter now, they said they will send officials to come check where you are staying and confirm if you are really staying indoors
Jetline:

I thought the $2000/mandatory 3 days quarantine has started?Plz, anyone who travelled in the last few days should brief us.

You shouldn't upload such document on a public platform. You should atleast cover your UCI number, it is not good for your privacy. And yes, that's AIP, so please take pictures off NL
Royalty95:

Thank you for the help. I am writing the mail at the moment based on your advice. Please I will want to know if the document uploaded is how an AIP looks like. Got it on the 23rd September 2020 before my bvl

My scholarship offer letter shows the coverage from flight, to books, feeding, accommodation and stipends, I dont know if other scholarships provide somuch information

Lekiboboe:

Thanks for the information , well appreciated, would relay the info to the applicant

Lastly,

I know there are different kinds of scholarships, but in this context of Canada Fully-funded Scholarship, would the applicant need to show the conventional required Living Expenses or the fullyfunded Scholarship covers all?

Just asking all of this so the applicant would be on a safer side

Thanks
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by ditha(f): 6:03pm On Jan 25
In my case, when I got the NSE request, i told my scholarship sponsors and requested for their bank statement, lol, instead they wrote out a letter of explanation for me to upload in the place of POF where they explained how established the scholarship is and details of its coverage.

I think the applicant should discuss with the school and see if they can provide some sort of evidence

Lekiboboe:

Hi ditha,

Trust you are doing great ?

Based on your experience , how can an applicant who got a Fully-funded Scholarship from a University in Canada show Proof of funds?

What are the potential documents needed that is distinct from an Applicant with a Sponsor?

Thanks for your Time

Guys this is very important, mind what you tweet especially on twitter a female doctor just lost the scholarship she won as a result of a thread she made about three years ago on twitter concerning the dangers of homosexuality. The Nigeria LGBTQ community tagged the Australian high commissioner to Nigeria and the embassy handle to the tweet, boom they bounce her (denied her visa) that she is not welcome in their country, and as it is now other embassies are taking note of what we tweet or discuss. Once again mind what you tweet or discuss online it might hurt you tomorrow.

When I heard this stuff I thought it was a joke..but I decided to act on it. I stopped and deleted all negative comments on my social media, I even changed my name in some ,since someone told me it's part of the background check they do. But today i confirmed it and I am really shocked... pls see this reason for refusal below...
