Bukkyade:Well said. You took the words out of my mouth. Can't add any more. |
I can agree to the fact that the women affirmative action of 35% has been fulfilled. Women are playing a very vital role in the running of this administration. It is not in doubt. The likes of Ngozi Iweala, Diezani Madukwe, Stella Oduah, Arunma Otteh, Sarah Ochekpe, etc |
There is just something going on in every sector under this administration. It's hard to ignore. Many reforms and policy initiatives are really opening up the Agric sector to serious development. Here we have evidence of rice mills that the Agric Minister keeps preaching about to us on TV. This is good. It shows we are making progress. |
President Jonathan is not the one who unbundled PHCN. OBJ did. But Jonathan has surpassed that feat by over 100%. I'm very very proud of Jonathan's achievements in the power sector and will vote for him to complete it. While OBJ wasted over 16B dollars on NIPP's, Jonathan has in less than 3 years finished work on the NIPP's and has succesfully privatised them. That is a remarkable milestone that will catapult the electricity sector to an enviable height. |
madridguy: President Olusegun Obasanjo is the first Nigerian president to prosecute his Secondary School friend, the man he appointed Inspector General of Police, a sitting Senate President, his serving Ministers, etc. But when some "idiots" want to talk on TV and Radio programmes, they will say Obasanjo do not have the moral right to write such a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan. How ridiculous!Mr Op, we can't be deceived by Former President Obasanjo's antics. Every prosecution that OBJ did then had political undertones and was forgotten immediately after the political interest was served. You mentioned the case of Senate President, Aldophus Wabara. Every political toddler knows that OBJ was unsettled by rumours that Wabara was interested in presidency hence desperate plans to exit him as President. After Wabara was removed, the case against him died a natural death. That is OBJ for you. All his anti corruption trials were politically motivated. |
It is quite unfortunate that OBJ will sink to this low to score some cheap political points. Whatever the political grievance, Former President Obasanjo has several ways to reach GEJ and make the points known to him. He deliberately wrote this letter and leaked it to the press inorder to spite Jonathan. It's all about 2015 politics and the desperation of the power mafia to see the back of Jonathan and return power to the North. |
YOUWIN 2 was fantastic for women. You need to see the stories I have listened from the women. One used it to set up a bead making factory that employs about 40 people and pays them average of 50,000 monthly. That is one of the success stories of YOUWIN. |
ilugunboy: Fully established now that we have a man as President that often get inebriated. It is rather fully established that we have a m.oron(You) on Nairaland who believes anything thrown at him no matter how ridiculous it looks. Can any person in his right thinking mind take this picture to be evidence of a claim that GEJ was flown abroad to treat a hangover after intake of ogogoro? I appreciate that Sahara reporters is in a haste to demonise the President but this approach is very lame and laughable and can only catch the fancy of intellectual midgets like you. |
Op, your bias and hatred for President Goodluck jonathan is poorly veiled. At this rate, you may hug a transformer when you see him back in a few days time. What do you mean by decoy? Didn't you see pictures of the president cutting his birthday cake in company of family members before he left for London? Must you spin rubbish? And who told you it's because of Ill health that he abandoned presenting his budget before NASS? Don't say what you don't know. NASS members were given more time to reach a consensus on the Medium term Expenditure Framework(MTEF) that usually precedes the budget. The senate and house of reps needed more time to harmonise on the MTEF. It is not also true that president Jonathan gives faint regard to bills passed by NASS. Mentionnone bill that President has refused to assent. It is even the other way around. President Jonathan has on his own forwarded several executive bills before NASS and the lawmakers are yet to pass it. They include the National health bill. Petroluem industry Bill, Anti tobacco bill etc. These bills were packaged by Jonathan led Exco and forwarded to NASS but they are yet to pass them |
Here comes the new bride of APC clothed in his long gowns that reek of corruption and greed. Lamido is walking down the aisle where he will be joined in matrimony with the corruption czar- Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Both will produce a union that will sell Nigeria eventually. Make I go find my visa to Cameroun. |
I wonder what our Governors do with money? the Rivers Governor got 56 billion Naira and still wants to secure a loan to start a water project. I like Ngozi. She is a stickler for due process and I want her to make sure that all T's are crossed and I's dotted before approving and signing the loan deal. She should not be moved by antics of politicians like Gov. Amaechi. They will make all the noise just to attract sympathy from the public. |
karl max: The ministry said Rivers State received N56.2 billion, the second highest share among the states, from January to September 2013 from the ECA, adding that the amount included N43 billion for shortfalls plus N12 billion released for the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).Except for political mischief, I don't see any reason why Gov Amaechi will behave this way. He collected over N56.2B And yet he has little or nothing to show for it in Rivers State. The mono rail project is a white elephant that has become a conduit pipe for embezzlement. As we speak, the project has gulped over 70B and yet it remains a pipe dream. |
If I were Lai Mohammed, I will focus on the humiliating defeat that his party suffered in Anambra over the weekend. APC are just a bunch of noisemakers. What is his business with the appointee of a President whom he labels as clueless? Nigerians are not gullible. They can reason on their own. They know that it's all politics and Maku is a threat to APC in Nassarawa state. |
Upon resumption from RECESS, Tambuwal left the business of lawmaking and delved into Pro Tukur and Baraje politics. He left the Medium Term expenditure framework for 2014 that was presented to the house and was frolicking in politics. He has started that distractive path again by this attempt to bar GEJ from presenting his budget. It will not work. |
Gorilla unit: APC and their media drama again, I wonder who still believe those group of criminals and hypocrites. They are just out to deceive their fellow bigots and blind followers, real Nigerians know better.APC are just a bunch of hypocrites. Imagine how Fashola misled the whole world into thinking that he built a power plant in Alausa. It turned out to be a 10MW plant, a glorified Generator set, that can only power street lights and the secreatariat. Meanwhile, the management of OANDO PLC came out to reaffirm that they are the ones who actually built the plant. |
According to Oga Lia Mohammed "Besides, he said the Federal Government lacked credibility to organise such a conference. Mohammed said, “What we see today is that this government has lost focus; it has lost credibility, it has lost control of the economy. Insecurity and corruption have attained an uncontrollable proportion and at this point in time, this government lack the credibility to organise a meaningful national conference." This guy is just a class clown. If the govt can not be trusted to organize a national conference, then why expect him to conduct elections in 2015. APC should come out clean and tell us why they don't want well meaning Nigerians to discuss the future of this country. |
I would have been surprised if they said they will attend, bunch of clowns. These are they very people calling for the convocation of sovereign national conference. Today, GEJ has convened an event of similar magnitude yet they choose to play politics with it. Let them not attend. It will not stop it from holding. There are so many Nigerians willing to participate. |
Appliedmaths.:There is nothing commanding about Maku's choice of words. He only charged them to suspend the strike and save education from further collapse. Is that too much to ask for? |
presiade: If you didn't support GEJ in 2011, but you're now his (staunch) supporter, like thisI didn't support GEJ in 2011. I voted Ribadu. But I think I will go for GEJ in 2015. I would want him to complete reforms like the PIB and Power privatisation. I'm not assured that given our history of abandoning projects by successive administrations, that any other new president will not stall ongoing privatisation/reforms and take us back to square one. I don't want to hear stories. Let GEJ continue. |
I am tempted to go with GEJ that ASUU has become very political. It's pretty obvious. It was not Jonathan's administration that entered this agreement with ASUU. That nothwitstanding, the government is not feigning ignorance but only pleading with ASUU to reconsider the terms of the Agreement. Even in standard contracting practice, parties can apply on variation of an existing contract. Terms in an existing contract can be varied to enable the parties fulfill all existing obligations. You don't just hold unto an unrealistic agreement with the cliche "agreement is agreement". ASUU has been given 130B. They should make do with it and call off this strike in the interest of Nigerian students |
agbameta: Are you not supposed to get paid your due salary to start with or are you ding them a favor by paying them for work done?OGA, nobody is rolling out the red carpets because of payment of salaries. His joy is that despite the false rumour that Nigeria is broke, he or she received his/her salary before the end of the month which indicates financial strength on the part of govt. Do you understand? |
So these guys were even receiving their salaries all the while? Na wa ooo. This kind strike good ooo. You sit at home and get paid. Who wouldn't strike in this circumstance? |
The president is ontop of the situation. He has shown real guts in handling all the insecurity challenges sponsored by those sectional leaders seeking to govern this country. I trust GEJ's discretion. And with Maku as defence minister, you can be rest assured he will approach the restoration of peace in Nassarawa state with zeal and passion. |
Dpeacemaker101: OP, you have not been anyway jaare. Am not seeing that MMA is cool the way it is, but you really have to know how to present your case they are worst airports in Africa, that are not even worth calling airports for example the Ghana airport international airport in Accra. Even a Ghanaian will tell you they are ashamed of it, please Nigerian will get to its developed stage soon. It's a gradual process.Don't mind them. Let them travel and see. |
My votes no waste |
Victor M: .Nigerian civil society groups will never cease to amaze me. Right from the first line, they left no one in doubt of their real motive-attack Maku. I don't know why everything in Nigeria including this unfortunate crisis in Nassarawa is being politicized. Instead of this organization that glories in the name HURIWA to condemn the violence and proffer workable solutions to resolving this dispute, they chose to question the appointment of Maku as Defence Minister. Is that the issue here? If not for mischief, what does an interim appointment of Maku as Defence Minister got to do with a violence that has been raging in the state since early in the year? Did Maku deploy youths in both communities to clash? To what end? Funny enough, the same group acknowledged in the bolded text that there's no remote link or evidence suggesting that Maku is sponsoring the crisis in the state so why drag him into it? Or is it part of the agenda by GEJ's critics to blame and demonise him for anything bad in Nigeria.i don't just understand. On the Probe issue, Gov Tanko Al Makura had set up the Justice Gbadeya commission to investigate the crisis. i dont think its expedient for FG to set up its own probe on the same subject matter. Double commissions of inquiry will be conflicting and may usher in unnecessary APC/PDP interests. Those calling for FG probe on the incident are the same people who will turn round tomorrow to allege that FG deliberately set up a probe to counter whatever reports that Gov Tanko Al Mukar's probe committee submitted. Every concerned Nigerian must be evolving strategies to ensure lasting peace in Nassarawa than using the crisis to play cheap partisan politics. |
Maybe I need to go and watch white house down.*grabs pop corn* |
Uyi Iredia: Makuu pi$$ed me off with his verbal gymnastics in defence of Jonathan's subsiddy removal. He pissed you off? Sorry, he impressed me either. His defence for subsidy removal is justifiable. Nigeria cannot afford this subsidy regime at the long run. The earlier we embrace the reality that subsidy should go, the better for Nigeria. I have read several papers that conclusively broadend my knowledge of the negative effects of subsidy on the economy. I support its removal. |
karl max: but they used state fund to sponsor the birthday of their god father Tinubu!now is time to show their stewardship so that all nigerians would see the projects that the likes of EKO ILE and is goons has been posting on nairaland these past years, they've developed cooled feet.that tour must come to lagos!and other states because we want to see what our governors have done in their state and what the federal goverment (that the same A-C-N claim hasn't been working)have also done in those state! This would expose those state governors who claim FG projects in their state as theirs!SECONDED |
Eko Ile: Question. The problem with so many if you is that you don't even follow the tour. You have stereotyped your mind to hate it because it's coming from FG and Maku. The truth is that the tour is not only about state projects. The emphasis is even more on federal government owned projects. Many of them are NIPP power plants undergoing construction or completed. The last time I watched the Minister chide Rockson Engineering for delays in completion of GBARAIN power plants It has also been shown on NTA where Maku was quizzing contractors handling federal government road projects for undue delays. So it is not really a state government performance review thing. The people you call choristers are newspaper and TV journalists from every media house in Nigeria. Maku involved all of them to be part of the tour hence the wide media coverage of the tour Don't just jump into criticsms because someone has paid you to do so. Spare some time to verify facts so that you don't go about your hatchet job unintelligently |
GARRI (x7):Just spare a moment and reflect on how illogical your argument sounds.Hear him "who cares if you know what's happening in Edo" Severally on this forum, we have debated on whom we tip to be the next president of Nigeria. Adams Oshiomhole's name has always been thrown in the mix by those who believe in him. I'm not from Edo state and do not have any business there soon. so how do people like us get to see his performances and join you in singing his praise if not for opportunities like Maku's tour. or you expect me to decide based on hearsay viz; " I hear say Oshiomhole dey try ooo" how do you expect an APC member in Bauchi to defend an Oshiomhole candidacy before a PDP member without facts of his scorecard? Today, we readily cite TINAPA, OBUDU as Duke's legacies. But that is not his only achievements. He must have built Hospitals that are relatively unknown but which Maku's tour could have brought our attention to. Even this your theory of "go to the state and see" is laughable because it's not possible for an individual to visit half of the state in search of projects. It takes serious effort to go round the capital of any state entirely. You cannot rate a governor solely on what you see on the streets of a state capital. There are hinterlands too for assessment. This is where Maku's tour comes in. It bridges the communication gap between the people and their projects in each state. Maku deserves an award for this initiative. |
GARRI (x7):If he has performed creditably well, let him not be scared to show it. Many of us are not resident in the state and would like this opportunity to see what he is really doing. I folllow the good governance tour on their Facebook wall. I watch the town hall meetings too. Apart from the hysteria, we want to actually know what the comrade governor is doing and at what cost. That I believe is the very essence of Maku's tour. It is not all about the Edo people but the entire Nigeria. We want to have an insight to the projects that have earned him the hype of a performing Governor. Such information is key so that i can rate the government objectively in my mind and not based on bandwagon sentiments. |
