As a woman, I'm deeply concerned about issues that bother on Maternal and child health care. Every serious government must evolve practical steps to curb infant mortality and ensure that poor people have quality access to pre natal and post natal health care.
I must commend this initiative by SURE P to look in this direction. Most govt interventionist agencies ignore this area thereby leaving it solely in the hands of Ministry of Health and related agencies.
This approach by SURE P will increase funding and help ameliorate the hardships that poor women experience in Nigeria. I hope SURE P will be able sustain the programme.

madridguy: President Olusegun Obasanjo is the first Nigerian president to prosecute his Secondary School friend, the man he appointed Inspector General of Police, a sitting Senate President, his serving Ministers, etc. But when some "idiots" want to talk on TV and Radio programmes, they will say Obasanjo do not have the moral right to write such a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan. How ridiculous!

Now President Jonathan's people have written to him complaining about the same lack of development:

"Whilst it takes the federal government the better part of the century to connect us by road, there exists a vast and expanding network of oil and gas pipelines across our territory connecting prolific oil wells to flow stations to export terminals and so on. In some 40 to 50 years of oil and gas production, the Nigerian government has in league with the oil companies virtually drilled the life out of our communities."

The people of the oil producing areas of Bayelsa State have written to President Goodluck Jonathan, and their complain is that he has not done anything to correct the wrongs of the past, making life difficult for them.

The elders therefore raised the alarm on the rising anger and impatience of the people especially the youths of the areas against multinational oil companies operating in their domain, and even the government.

karl max: The ministry said Rivers State received N56.2 billion, the second highest share among the states, from January to September 2013 from the ECA, adding that the amount included N43 billion for shortfalls plus N12 billion released for the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).

“In fact, earlier this month (November 2013) Rivers State along with other states, benefitted from the sharing of $1 billion from the ECA to augment the allocations.
“It is therefore curious that Governor Amaechi seems not to know the whereabouts of the N56.2 billion which Rivers State has received from the ECA this year,” the statement added

Am not seeing that MMA is cool the way it is, but you really have to know how to present your case they are worst airports in Africa, that are not even worth calling airports for example the Ghana airport international airport in Accra. Nasarawa violence: HURIWA faults Maku’s appointment as defence minister

But the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has faulted President Goodluck Jonathan’s appointment of information minister Labaran Maku as “supervisory” minister in the Ministry of Defence.

HURIWA, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP, called for a probe by an independent judicial commission of inquiry on Maku’s alleged roles in the Nasarawa violence so as to assuage the bottled-up emotions of certain persons who are aggrieved.

Again, the human rights group condemned what it tagged the “piecemeal approach” adopted by both the federal and Nasarawa State governments in the Nasarawa violence linked to the local militia, Ombatse. The violence claimed 30 lives at the weekend.

The statement read in part: Although for now, the remote linkage of the serving information minister Mr Labaran Maku to the ongoing bloody violence in his home state of Nasarawa is still mere conjectures and speculations, but the federal government has failed to investigate clinically and professionally, using the services of tested and trusted serving Supreme Court of Nigeria justices and independent security and forensic experts, the remote and immediate causes, circumstances and individuals fingered for being responsible for the ongoing killings and inter-ethnic upheavals in Nasarawa State; therefore it would be hasty and preposterous for President Jonathan to assign the very strategic defence ministry to Maku who for now is alleged to be a party, rightly or wrongly, in the violence tearing his state apart and which is linked to the politics of 2015 governorship.”
