Politics / Re: All 36 Governors Agreed To Participate In The Good Governance Tour-Gov.Uduaghan by divatosin(f): 1:06am On Feb 22, 2013 |
I have no doubts in my mind that Gov Oshiomhole of Edo State is scared about the Good governance tour. He feels threatened that the tour may finally burst the bubble about the hype surrounding his mediocre performance in Edo Srate. |
Politics / Re: Oshiomhole Wont Use State Resources For Good Governance Tour by divatosin(f): 6:25pm On Feb 20, 2013 |
Binary:You guys don't even understand the issue at stake. Nobody has called Adams to sponsor the tour. The tour is being sponsored by the FG in collaboration with Governors forum, a group that has Adams as member. The National Assembly voted money for the tour so it should not be as if Maku is relying on Edo tax payers money. But it is the practice that Governors accommodate the minister in the Government lodge and take care of the media men that cover the tour on behalf of print/electronic media houses in Nigeria. This clarification was made by a senior official of the ministry on radio this afternoon. |

Politics / Re: Is GEJ Your Dream President Or nightmares? by divatosin(f): 1:17pm On Feb 19, 2013 |
Jonathan is trying his best to transform Nigeria. However, many critics are blinded to this reality. Key sectors like Agriculture, Education, Energy, Aviation, TRansport and power are receiving major attention. Many road projects like Benin-Ore, Enugu-Ph. Kano-Maidugri abandoned by previous administrations are under rehabilitation by Jonathan led administration. In Transport, for a very long time train services have resumed operations along major routes like Lagos-Kano. it's indeed remarkable The woman in Aviation is working hard with her renovation works on the airports. I visited Benin Airport and was happy at the face lift which wasn't there before. I heard its like that in most of our our airports. That is encouraging. more universities are being built across Nigeria. Things can only get better. |
Politics / Re: Melaye, NTA, ribadu, Top 10 People In Politics To ABSOLUTELY Ignore In 201 by divatosin(f): 2:13am On Feb 19, 2013 |
This is another unintelligent attack against Maku who is considered as the leading voice in president Jonathan's media war. I wonder why critics are so obsessed with him. The whole plot was thinly veiled and manifests in his designation as number one public official on the so called list. the likes of Babangida and Ribadu were involved just to lend credibility to the list. It appears this is the latest strategy in series of plots to cut down the rising popularity of the minster. Many of such were tried last year but it failed woefully. |
Politics / Re: Ezekwesili Got It Wrong! By Labaran Maku by divatosin(f): 8:35pm On Jan 28, 2013 |
Countryman93: Madam OBY, Mr Maku is damn right. You decided to conceal the full details of those accounts all in a desperate but failed bid to cast the present govt in bad light. Fine analysis. Sure, Oby Ezekwesili has serious malicious intent in making the speech. She wants to use it to score a cheap political point but it won't work. Why didn't she say whatever she had to say during Yaradua's time. Because the bulk of the money was spent in that era. She just went dumb then and just recovered her voice after Obj had issues with Jonathan. |

Politics / Re: Labaran Maku: Best Minister Of Information Ever? by divatosin(f): 9:46am On Dec 13, 2012 |
Mekusnwa: The good governance tour is one of his ideas that I really admire so much. It has caused so much noise, but you will believe me that it is actually achieving the set goal of making people aware of their surrounding and projects around them. Initially, I did not like the tour either. I saw it as a jamboree and unnecessary showmanship but when I saw the revelations from the tour on Nairaland, I picked interest. I think that was the visit to plateau state. So many projects were on display by Jonah Jang. I never knew that Jang had done that much in that troubled state. I was shocked. Then I decided to watch the plateau Town hall meeting on NTA. Both Maku and Jang were on hot seat answering questions from the large audience and viewers. A whole lot of issues were raised ranging from insecurity, basic social amenities, abandoned projects, and the non payment of salaries to local government employees in the state. I was happy with the way Jang handled the questions with much confidence and humor. Maku also did well. At the end of the day, people left the hall with satisfactory answers and that is the stuff participatory democracy is made of. Since that time, I don't miss it. But for some time now, I have not heard about the tour again. |
Politics / Re: Rest In Peace Labaran Maku, 1988 - 2012 by divatosin(f): 9:33pm On Dec 05, 2012 |
Another useless propaganda stunt by a guerilla online newspaper. I wonder how these people still manage to vend falsehood to gullible Nigerians. Sometime last 2 months, Sahara reporters sold these lies and it was heavily poop pooed on this platform. They resiled and when it appeared that the dust had settled, they brought it up again under this piece. Very unintelligent of Sowore. There is compelling evidence to show that Maku Indeed led a succesful parade on the streets of new York. Even the organizers came out publicly to deny Sahara reporters and affirmed the success of the rally. |
Politics / Re: “labaran Maku, Most Corrupt Federal Minister” – Presidency by divatosin(f): 11:02am On Dec 03, 2012 |
First, this is a very laughable move to discredit the National Good Governance which we all have been following on Nairaland and which has served as a potent yardstick for the measurement of Govt's performance in all states. I'm one of those who support the present Minister's approach to information disemination. He is not one that makes noise or sings jingles and propaganda like the infamous rebranding project of his predecessors. He is having Nigerians experience new frontiers in the art of information dissemination. Earlier in the year, Maku started with Ministerial platform which offered us an opportunity to assess each minister on their performance. Everyday, each minister was made to give an account of their stewardship to the public and the programme was aired live on major TV Channels. It was a pragmatic approach that also gave the audience an opportunity to ask questions and exchange views with their ministers. I recall that I learnt of the YOUWIN project during that programme. It was also during that session that a suspected bomber was apprehended at the gate of the venue. Then came this National Media tour or whatever. At first, I had reservations over the tour because I considered it premature. But Having followed the tour on Nairaland and watched both the Nassarawa and Plateau town hall meetings, I was impressed with the tour. Nothing could be more innovative of an Information Minister. |

Nkechi Mba, the president of NCWS, was right on point there. Govts at levels should Endeavour to emulate Jonathan's committment to 35% women affirmative action by appointing women into key positions in their various states. GEJ has really tried with the likes of NOI, DIEZANI, REMI OYO, ARUNMAH OTEH, IFUEKO OMOIGUI, ONAGORUWA , STELLA ODUA, SARAH OCHEKPE, holding key positions at the federal level |

Countryman93:So that is all he has to offer for 6 years as Governor of Benue state. Poor! I m watching his commissioner of information telling lies at that town hall meeting. The orange processing plant had long been completed even before Suswam came in as Governor. Akume built that plant and handed it over to Transcorp in 2005. I hope to forward this question to them now. Suswam is a failure! |

Politics / Re: National Good Governance Tour Kicks Off In Benue State by divatosin(f): 12:30am On Oct 30, 2012 |
I noticed that One project appears to lace through all the states visited so far. Each of the states have always showcased various water treatment plants and dams executed by both the federal and state governments. That means the Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe is working too. Its a salute to womanhood. All the women in President Jonathan's government are not disappointing at all. Ruqayyatu is holding it down with her reforms in curriculum, Almajiri school projects, increases funding of varsities etc. NOI is holding it down with her fiscal reforms, bio metric evaluations, verification of subsidy claims, SWF, increased Foriegn reserves base, timely Budgeting etc Oduah is holding it down with her massive reconstruction and remodelling of 11 terminals in Nigeria. She has commissioned the GAT in Lagos, Benin, Yola, Kano, Enugu, Abuja will soon be commissioned too. Diezani is holding it down with her sanitisation of the oil industry with probes and formulation of New PIB |

Politics / Re: National Good Governance Team In Plateau State. #nggtour2012 by divatosin(f): 1:11pm On Oct 22, 2012 |
The truth is that most people don't bother to find out about the activities of government. Many are stuck on Facebook, twitter, Nairaland, and BB all day criticising Jonathan without any proper knowledge of what is going on. Nigeria is a vast country. It is easy to see developmental projects embarked upon by a state Governor in his capital than to see the efforts of FG across the length and breadth of the country. Somebody in Lagos can only assess what the govt is doing in Plateau through the media which could be very unreliable. This National Good Governance tour offers both critics and praise singers alike the opportunity to make an assessment of both the state and federal government in each state. It behoves on those close to these project sites to ascertain the veracity of govts claims with regards to the projects. If it is true, let them come to Nairaland and confirm. If it is a lie, let's have it exposed on Nairaland. That is the best way to go about it. 4 Likes |
Politics / Re: Femi Falana Vindicates Maku, Blasts National Assembly by divatosin(f): 12:19pm On Oct 22, 2012 |
Countryman93: The way Tambuwal became frivolous during his vote of thanks at budget presentation. The speaker just went off on a tangent attacking the president over a benchmark which was yet to be considered by the whole house. Tambuwal is just a principal leader of the house of the House of Representatives and not the House itself. The proper thing to do is to accept the budget and table it before the House later for consideration. He could lead and influence debate on the budget as he wishes, not to lord it over the president during submission. It was very wrong. |
Politics / Re: Stop Embarrassing Us, PDP To Members by divatosin(f): 1:16pm On Oct 18, 2012 |
It is understandable that PDP which is the largest political party in Africa will have little problems and unguarded utterances from some of its members. It's easier to manage a nuclear family of 5 like ACN Than to manage a polygamous family of 27 like the PDP. But thatnothwitstanding, I still cherish the Political values of PDP than the dictatorial tendencies of Tinubu and ACN. In PDP, there is equal opportunity for growth and expression of opinions unlike ACN. no body coughs in ACN. TINUBU calls the shots, plays the piper, dictates the tunes, and even force people to like the tune. So absurd. Look at how he imposed Akeredolu on ACN in Ondo because Mimiko failed to reward him for doling out millions of pounds to bribe Salami |

This LIE MOHAMMED of a guy is just so shameless. He behaves like an amebo. When real men are politicking, he is just joining issues with women groups. He talks too much like a woman. Why would he be obstructing the operations of Odumakin and co, if ACN doesn't have something sinister up their sleeves? |
Politics / Re: Fuel Subsidy To Go Next Year- Sanusi by divatosin(f): 8:22am On Oct 12, 2012 |
I stand with SANUSI on this one. I opposed subsidy removal in January but now I have realized we made a big mistake then. I have come to understand these issues better since then. We need to open up the oil sector to deregulation where the market forces of supply and demand will dictate price. Private refineries need to come on board and they can't come in unless government desists from subsiding importation. BUT BEFORE THEY GO AHEAD, LET THEM DO MASSIVE ENLIGHTENMENT 17 Likes |

Vogue50: Because we are not accustomed to brief presidential speeches like this , we consider it unnecessary and Improvised. Every leader has his or her own way to govern and shouldn't be misconstrued when he opts to thread on an unconventional path. For me , this act does not diminish his personality as the president or make him appear common rather depicts how a leader should behave by being submissive and reachable to his people. They are yet to understand that things have changed. No more lengthy boring speeches. Straight to the point. Hit the nail on the head and we get down to business. That is the stuff transformation agenda is made of . No time |

Bad belle people don start to wonder. They are at a loss as to how Mr President avoided their well prepared criticisms over the flooding ravaging most states innNigeria. The president was intelligent enough to stop them in their tracks with this broadcast. He beat them to it. The likes of Lai Mohammed, the monarchical spokesman of Tinubu's company-ACN, will be fumming in anger by now. He must have scripted a masterpiece on Jonathan's insensitivity to the flooding confronting Nigeria. but little did he know that we have a president who has gone beyond mere speeches to create a fund to tackle this challenge comprehensively.
