INEC is the umpire, if they decides to work with any party last minute, no opposition will see it coming. You can grow a country by accepting that indeed there was rigging but that if opposition had worked together, they would have won inspite of the rigging. You're not an honest man! Everybody in Nigeria saw how INEC shutdown IREV thereby forcing manual collation overnight where results were changed. All election observers both local and foreign condemned the elections but here you are using speculation to arrive at a conclusion rather than what actually happened. Even in Rivers and Benue, the eventual uploaded results by INEC shows Obi won. Wainey: PDP thought they can break into 5 different parts and one of the parts is still capable of beating APC the ruling party.
This is pure delusional, no matter how weak APC is, they still have supporters. Thinking you can do away with Obi, Kwankwasor, Wike etc and still win doesn't make sense to me. Lets forget Atiku for now, only Obi and Kwankwasor alliance would have been a big problem for APC, but greed and braggadocios was the problem of the opposition. The election was not rigged, I never expected APC to lose |

The surest ways to maintain this momentum is to always be in the news with the court case, Atiku has been using this strategy too and it has always worked for him. You have not said you'll leave Nigeria because of the terrorism toga it carries because of Northern bokoharam, Fulani herdsmen and bandits, neither have you said because its classified as the poverty capital of the world because of Northern Nigeria but you're mentioning the great Igbo nationality. Tell me what Biafra which you've been opposing is all about; not to separate from you and the rest of Nigeria? Pretenders! wowcatty: A Yoruba proverb says when a cripple commits a crime, it's the people with legs that will do the run around.
Igbos are causing problems everywhere they are found and Yoruba are sharing in the punishment for identifying as Nigerians.
An igbo has been linked to a murder in Dododawa Ghana and Yoruba are sharing in the punishment right now.
If Pakistanis decide to go after Nigerians, Yoruba will share in the whatever they decide to do to Nigerians.
United Kingdom has 4 nations within its borders and all 4 identity themselves officially as 1. English 2. Irish 3. Welsh 4. Scotish even during oath ceremony at USCIS, so why can't Yoruba do the same? Only immigrants call themselves British. It's understandable why others don't need to do it, but as Yoruba we have name, culture and traditions to protect. We should be saying 'Ile-Yoruba' whenever we are asked where we are from and when asked where exactly it is, you should respond with 'it's unfortunately currently part of what is now known as Nigeria and hopefully we will go back to being an independent country soon'. Yoruba please don't sink with this ship, let people know that we are not the sane and we are just forced to share the country.
Let this be known anywhere you find yourselves so when next a crime is committed in the name of Nigeria by people who thrive in chaos and don't know what humility and respect is, you will be spared. |

I agree with you that a president lacks the power to restructure however if he has majority in the NASS, he can push the lawmakers from his party to do it EXOUSIAng: You people will just go about speaking English and speaking boldly about things you know nothing about. How is a president supposed to get you restructuring? Is he the National Assembly? If you don't know the function of the sit of the president you ask. That's how some so-called educated people from the East be expecting the president to give them Biafra, expecting the president to arrange for a referendum. Know your arms of government and their responsibilities. You want restructuring go and tell your senator and your House member to move a motion. These are things that will be delebrated upon on the floor not things the president can take decision on in Aso Rock. Unfortunately these airheads don't know, they beat their senators in Germany same men who are supposed to table their case at the National Assembly..... |
Politics › Re: Why Are Our Presidents/Leaders Dreading The Idea Of Restructuring? by DMerciful(m): 2:18am On Sep 10, 2023 |
Nigeria president lacks constitutional powers to restructure Nigeria. Only the NASS can! GYBABA: A cogent point which has been made by political experts, those that have been actively involved & just normal observers is that restructuring would be very beneficial to Nigeria & will unequivocally hasten development throughout Nigeria as different regions will develop at their own pace with your own resources & citizens will be more likely to hold their leaders accountable if they perceive other regions developing excellently well while theirs is maintaining status quo or is worsening.
After all, Nigeria is a multicultural, multi-complex country & definitely not a nation. Even places that could easily count as a nation due to sharing one language had to go through the restructuring process.
Why then are our leaders particularly the Presidents taking a cue to try it out atleast if the president is very much willing & expresses his wish for that & even orders it to be implemented, there's high likelihood that it'll happen but the problem is the top-dogs aren't even making any definite actions to make this true. Are the cabals in government not also singing it to their ears, what are the special advisers also doing? Is no one in government without plans to make it work?
When the idea of restructuring comes up, there is this belief that Northern Presidents, Governors & other political leaders from up North won't allow it because it won't favour their region particularly because of crude oil revenues that they'll miss out on. Hence, they'll kick against it but then what about the Southern leaders? We've had Obasanjo, he did nothing, then even Jonathan who's from the oil rich state did nothing in that regard too. There were beliefs by some that Jonathan would have been the best suited to implement it because it won't affect him that much since he comes from a state that would keep enjoying the dough from crude oil but lo & behold, restructuring was aborted before it could even develop to a baby.
Now we have another GCFR from the South in person of Tinubu, the super Jagaban who could make it work but isn't really talking about it or acting like he'll even implement it. There's really no hope it'll happen. They will rather keep all the power in the centre & on one individual rather than empowering these federating units, regions or states more & this same cycle will keep occurring over & over & over again.
If it's a Northern leader, forget about it but a Southern leader should still give hope of restructuring happening. Why then are they not doing anything? Why is no one doing anything? Is restructuring that difficult to achieve? Am I missing something? Is it a taboo?
In all, it seems they dread it regardless of where they come from. Please you can air your thoughts without yabbing, derailing or turning this negatively into a tribal war or political brouhaha. Please the senseless ones should please have sense! Be civil! Thank you.
PS.: We don't really need to split the country totally. No! Just restructure! This will give a little semblance of secession but every region will still be connected to the central idea of Nigeria unlike secession that's totally partition. Just give restructuring a chance! Our leaders please!
PS2. : It is not the President's duty to kick start a process of restructuring. It's actually the duty of the Legislature (National Assembly members). It's only after these law-makers initiate it that the President can choose to assent or reject it. It's was never the President(s)! It's the Senators work! Hold your leaders accountable! |

What if Adeleke followed your advice and did not go to Supreme Court? nikky5: Peter Obi is no doubt a good man in character. I like him for his humility and civility. The fact remains that politics is a game of numbers and a winner must emerge. Obi changed the narrative of the political landscape in Nigeria. It's rather unfortunate that he lost the 2023 Presidential election.
The PEPT judgement on his petitions against the incumbent president also affirmed that Obi actually lost the election with a distant third position. But that's not the end of the world. He needs to accept the verdict and congratulate Asiwaju. That will be a demonstration of good sportsmanship.
Obi must not proceed to the Supreme Court for redress if he wants to remain relevant in Nigeria politics. If APC had fielded Osinbajo, he would have been nowhere. He was able to garner support of Nigerians because of APC Muslim Muslim ticket.
Barely 72 hours to the presidential election, all his 36 states chairmen had told him that he cannot win the election. He lost.
If he goes to the supreme Court to seek his lost but not stolen mandate, he should expect the following:
1. He will surely lose. He has no chance of winning or reclaiming a lost mandate. He will end up wasting his time and money.
2. Labour party has welcomed the judgement of PEPT on Obi's petition. His part knew he cannot win the case. I foresee Obi leaving Labour party.
3. Obi may retire from partisan politics because he may no longer enjoy the support of Labour party. The PDP and APC may not welcome him.
4. As a result of his imminent defeat at the Supreme Court, the obidients will lose their support base especially those from the south west and North Central.
Now, let's ask ourselves this all important question, is politics a do or die affair? |
