Fight for Biafra and we will hold your oath fulfilled....you refused now you're dead! alopy: ON THE OGONI'S REMEMBRANCE DAY! Final Statement From Ken'Saro Wiwa Before His Death. My lord, We all stand before history. I am a man of peace, of ideas. Appalled by the denigrating poverty of my people who live on a richly endowed land, distressed by their political marginalization and economic strangulation, angered by the devastation of their land, their ultimate heritage, anxious to preserve their right to life and to a decent living, and determined to usher to this country as a whole a fair and just democratic system which protects everyone and every ethnic group and gives us all a valid claim to human civilization, I have devoted my intellectual and material resources, my very life, to a cause in which I have total belief and from which I cannot be blackmailed or intimidated. I have no doubt at all about the ultimate success of my cause, no matter the trials and tribulations which I and those who believe with me may encounter on our journey. Neither imprisonment nor death can stop our ultimate victory. I repeat that we all stand before history. I and my colleagues are not the only ones on trial. Shell is here on trial and it is as well that it is represented by counsel said to be holding a watching brief. The Company has, indeed, ducked this particular trial, but its day will surely come and the lessons learnt here may prove useful to it for there is no doubt in my mind that the ecological war that the Company has waged in the Delta will be called to question sooner than later and the crimes of that war be duly punished. The crime of the Company's dirty wars against the Ogoni people will also be punished. On trial also is the Nigerian nation, its present rulers and those who assist them. Any nation which can do to the weak and disadvantaged what the Nigerian nation has done to the Ogoni, loses a claim to independence and to freedom from outside influence. I am not one of those who shy away from protesting injustice and oppression, arguing that they are expected in a military regime. The military do not act alone. They are supported by a gaggle of politicians, lawyers, judges, academics and businessmen, all of them hiding under the claim that they are only doing their duty, men and women too afraid to wash their pants of urine. We all stand on trial, my lord, for by our actions we have denigrated our Country and jeopardized the future of our children. As we subscribe to the sub-normal and accept double standards, as we lie and cheat openly, as we protect injustice and oppression, we empty our classrooms, denigrate our hospitals, fill our stomachs with hunger and elect to make ourselves the slaves of those who ascribe to higher standards, pursue the truth, and honour justice, freedom, and hard work. I predict that the scene here will be played and replayed by generations yet unborn. Some have already cast themselves in the role of villains, some are tragic victims, some still have a chance to redeem themselves. The choice is for each individual. I predict that the denoument of the riddle of the Niger delta will soon come. The agenda is being set at this trial. Whether the peaceful ways I have favoured will prevail depends on what the oppressor decides, what signals it sends out to the waiting public. In my innocence of the false charges I face Here, in my utter conviction, I call upon the Ogoni people, the peoples of the Niger delta, and the oppressed ethnic minorities of Nigeria to stand up now and fight fearlessly and peacefully for their rights. History is on their side. God is on their side. For the Holy Quran says in Sura 42, verse 41: "All those that fight when oppressed incur no guilt, but Allah shall punish the oppressor." Come the day. Why waste your energy and prayers? If there is no equity there will be no justice and if there is no justice there will be no peace. These are natural laws prayer can't change. When we complain about Nigeria its not out of hate for any tribe, its just frustrations that the solution which is to restructure completely to true federalism is being avoided by the powers that be. We cannot be praying for solutions God has given us the wisdom to solve but we lack the vision to see strategically. As for the terrorist president, its strange how Nigerians left a peace maker to follow idol! MizMyColi: Good Morning Everyone
I had finished my workout sessions and decided to try out the new earpiece my little Sis "dashed" me, and a Christian song by Frank Edwards was in play. I thought to seize the opportunity to pray for my loved one who was going through tumultuous times, and before I knew it, I started praying passionately for Nigeria. I prayed for the president! I was in tears. Those who know my political antecedents here would understand that I am more an anti-Buharist and even more anti-APC....
But this morning, none of that mattered. I was led by something higher to drop all forms of bitterness, and complaining, and reservations; for the love of dear country, for the love of humanity.
Muslims, Christians, Budhists, Atheists, Igbo, Yoruba, PDP, APC, Partyless Opposition, SS, Northerner....No matter who and what you are. Today, I enjoin us to take a little time from our busy schedule and say a word of prayer for our Nigeria and for the leadership of this country. Today, it dawned on me, that it doesn't matter what has been done or undone, every day presents a chance to chart a new course in our history, in our lives.
Let today, the 1st day of November, 2015 start a movement of healing that would sweeps across the fabric of this nation.
Let every structure of negativity and bitterness and unforgiveness that so seeks to continually divide us be pulled down. Today, irrespective of our religious, political and tribal affiliation, we declare that it is well with Nigeria. We declare that it is well with our president and every arm of leadership of this nation.
Our Divine Creator will save, Our Divine Creator will deliver.
God bless us all. Amen. |

Keep giving yourself excuses! you said decades of rot? Buhari is just cut up in the mess he created when he interrupted democracy. India and Parkistan started about thesame time but the difference why India is more developed is consistent democracy even if its a little contribution from successive govts. Buhari ruined us from 1983 and he is paying for being a coupist. I am not wishing Buhari failure cos he has already failed even nigerians know thats why they did not vote for him for 3 attempts. How can an unrepentant coupist/dictator/terrorist be voted in a president...only in a zoo of course! obailala: I see you sticking your tongue ( )out and wishing the president of your country does not perform so you can say "I told you" after 4 years. As unfortunate as that stance is, God pass una! and by God's grace, he is going to perform. He may appear annoyingly slow, but you need to understand that he is taking his time to undo decades of rot which has bedevilled the system. Remember the quote from the October first speech:
“Impatience is not a virtue. Order is more vital than speed. Careful and deliberate decisions after consultations get far better results..."
Oh yes, we are all impatient, but I am sure as a Nigerian, you should have an idea of the extent of rot in the system?... that will certainly take time to fix. The nosedive in world oil prices have also greatly not helped matters. Have you taken your time to review the last national budget of 2015?... If only you can go take a look at it, you will understand why there cannot be a single progress this year, it is not just a 'new government' thing, absolutely nothing was budgeted for capital projects in the 2015 budget and it was not PMB's government that compiled this 2015 budget. Ideally, we should patiently wait for the 2016 budget to see exactly what the CHANGE they promised us is all about. If Nigeria gets better, irrespective of who sits in Abuja, it will be to the benefit of us all; and if peradventure things don't turn out better (God forbid), just like I said earlier, we will look for a way to kick him out. |
Politics › Re: APC Activist Omojuwa Criticises Buhari Government. by DMerciful(m): 10:52am On Oct 27, 2015 |
Ok..lets c how you vote him out when the time comes cos he is not going to perform. you can tell the end to some extent from the beginning obailala: And what does your comment about free elections have to do with my first comment which you quoted?... I simply stated that it was a justified thing to do to vote out GEJ due to his abysmal performance, irrespective of whether he gave free/fair elections or not; elections are not the only needs of a developing country like ours. And of course, if PMB fails in performance, we will also look for a way to remove him when the time comes. |
Politics › Re: APC Activist Omojuwa Criticises Buhari Government. by DMerciful(m): 10:34am On Oct 27, 2015 |
You are just repeating thesame lies APC fed you and you are derailing from the original argument. the argument was if Bok0hari did not perform you will vote him out as if you can do that in the absence of free and fair elections. Why dint you vote OBJ out after his first term? Cant you see the handwriting on the wall that INEC is not position to deliver fair election based on the damaged done to it after Jega left or you need an angel to tell you? obailala: So because GEJ gave free election, then I should overlook all his other unforgivable flaws and allows him to continue ruining my country for another 4 years? .... Na free election I go chop?... is free election the biggest problem of Nigeria?.... where are the roads? What was our health care delivery like?.. Where are the schools? Where are the industries? Where is security? What was our international image like during his time?...
Someone rules nigeria at Nigeria's richest season from 2010 to 2015 when oil prices were steadily at $100per barrel, God blessed nigeria abundantly under this period but what do we get?... he meets a total national savings running over $60billion but after a 5 years unprecedented income boom, he leaves nigeria with less than $30billion; no major projects were ever completed, he awarsd road and brigde contracts all over the place, everyone hails him and then the projects never proceeds.
These financial figures and records are all over the place for all discerning people to see yet some still insist that the man performed wonderfully well, probably in depleting resources and creating hundreds of private jet flying crooks. Sometimes I wonder whether some of you are under a spell that even 7months after, you cannot still see through the lies and deceit of these politicians. What kind of brainwashing is this? |
