Bullcrap If you have no weapons what are you doing there? Picnic I guess. Is it not cowardice as a General to be commanded to d war front without weapons and you obeyed instead of resigning mapet: You guys are just venting on what you know nothing about. 1. Gen Ransome Kuti was commanding a battalion at baga. 2. They had broken-down weapons that was not working. A lot of reports had been sent to military high command back then which fell on deaf hears 3. When Boko haram came to attack Baga, you had a situation where the intelligence Gen. Enitan's team recieved showed they were out-numbered 10-1. His weapons were grounded. It was like committing his men to suicide........ 4. For Gen Enitan's decision, about 300men are alive today, who should have been wasted 5. At his trial, even his GOC came to testify and his term was "we had carcass for weapons". His testimony was an embarrassment to the military. He said despite the fact that Boko Haram captured those weapons and promised to use it to attack Nigeria up to Abuja, even they could not use those weapons. 6. You will wonder why Gen. Kuti who has fought wars for UN be the one to be accused of running away? 7. You're accusing Gen. Kuti yet those that embezzled money for weapons are sitting pretty |

Obasanjo mandate was given to him to make the north happy Well as long as the annulment favoured you,why should you care But,the mandate was later given to Obasanjo in other to make Yorubas happy and today a good number of them aren't complaining. So you believe that crap of loosing 400,000 barrels per day to oil theft? So are many barrels are we loosing now? One of the biggest problem of Nigeria is how easy the electorates can be deceived. Try research on Lagos-Ibadan press and thank me later obailala: A clueless leader right?
I can bet you that in the administration of all the past Nigerian leaders, including and especially during the reign of your hero GEJ, NNPC and the FG could not even account for how much they were losing. Yet you think they were 'clue-full' and this administration clueless?
Routine losses from oil theft alone in the last 5 years stood at a staggering 400,000 barrels per day (appx $40million per day). If you do the maths for a period of 8months, that amounts to approximately 1.9Trillion; and this is from crude theft alone, not even mentioning every other gaping financial holes the NNPC under other administrations were known for. Yet someone thinks they were 'clue-full' and this administration clueless?
What we have here is simply a leadership which for the first time in Nigeria's history, now infuses financial accountability and transparency in its dealings. For the first time, someone is now making efforts to estimate and publish the estimated losses from the inefficiency in the system.
A wise man knows the first step in solving a lingeting problem is to first define and quantify its extent. But unfortunately, someone who appears to be possessed with the spirit of non-discernment thinks this sort of approach is a sign of cluelessness? |

There is no solution other than restructuring. We are just wasting time. uboma: I am not in support of splitting the country. Eradicating corruption and reviving the agricultural economy will go a long way to boost the economy. Our over-dependence on oil is crippling the economy. |

Spot on. We have been living in fools paradise since independence! ozoro: Rubbish!!! People, including Nigerians always look back and think things were better. 1970's was the WORST time for Nigeria. China, Dubai, Malaysia were busy developing booming private sector economic growth. Even Uk under Thatcher from the same 1979, grew out of her economic dolrums of the government economic policies of the 1970's to a booming private sector economy Including many succesful privatisation.
1979 Nigeria had less than 12 universities!!! Most youth could NOT go to university. 1979 Most graduat es were employed as under-employed civil servants on level 08. (unless you lived in Lagos) - pen-pushers in ministry of Bleep 1979 MOST towns and villages were NOT on the National Grid. 1979 we didn't need Visa to tavel to most countries, BUT how many Nigerians could take advantage of this? 1979, only one teacher in my junior sister primary school could afford a volkswagen beetle.
1979 government ran and owned many busineses which rather than make profit and pay tax, instead survived on government subventions; Federal Palace Hotel, Nigeria Airways, NICON, NITEL, Nigeria Shipping Line, Daily Times and thousands of other state and federal government parastals - waste of money!!!
These wasteful policies encouraged corruption and discouraged private sector development. This period led to our over-dependence on oil.
I AM NOT SAYING NIGEERIA IS BETTER NOW, BUT ASK THE VILLAGE FARMER IN 1979 WHETHER LIFE IS GOOD, YOU WILL GET THE SAME AS 2015- LIFE IS TOUGH!!! |

God bless you. Nigeria was founded on a seriously faulty foundation and unless we restructure to correct that there will be no progress. Nigerians keep deceiving themselves that a govt will come and their problem will disappear when they are not addressing the root cause. Bollinger: You sure you are Nigerian? So, speaking the truth is hate mongering. Right. Got it. This is another bane of Nigerians; living in denial. Admit that the foundations the country was built on was and is flawed, change the way you'all think, and finally chart a realistic course for change in the future. Living in denial is counter productive. All it does is hold you back. Reminiscing for a time that never existed is sad to say the least. I somehow feel sorry for you. Damn, what a pity. |

A bad system was adopted in 1966 when the regions were unified to a unitary system and that has been our undoing. Our sweet crude back then that could easily be refined is no longer an advantage. We abandoned all our cash and food crops and started sulking Niger Delta oil dry all in the name of a fraudulent one Nigeria and here we are wallowing in iniquity. There is no future for Nigeria unless we restructure or split uboma: From the late 70s up to the early 80s were Nigerian's golden years.
There were no hassles securing visas to other countries. We even had the Brits and other foreigners flocking into Nigeria to secure employments in our universities.
As a citizen of the country, upon graduation from the university, a brand new car + accomodation + employment was provided by the govt.
We were the envy of other countries. But the tables has turned around and NGN 1 equals to USD220 now. There's no employment for graduates now. the list is endless and no need recounting them (to avoid emotional breakdown).
Just recently, I was shocked to hear that the govt of Ghana still provides a car and accomodation to graduates of medicine and nursing. About 2 months back, I sent NGN100,000.00 to Ghana and after the transfer via Access Bank, I discovered that the equivalent in Ghana Cedis was just one thousand and a few hundreds to my NGN100,000.00.
Our leaders have sucked Nigeria dry. Will Nigeria attain her golden era again remains to be seen.

You are right and that has been my position....restructuring to true federalism obailala: No doubt about that, true federalism is the way forward for this country. And it can only be achieved on one condition, that's if the SE and SW cooperate together with the SS to fight for it. The entire south has to be united in this singular purpose if we must overcome the dominance of the NW and NE which is presently sitting on the realisation of true federalism. As long as the SW and SE continue to fight themselves foolishly, and as long as the SS continues to 'suspect' the SE and SW , the north will continue to dominate and laugh at us even as we kiss true federalism goodbye! |

Thank you.....few intelligent people in this forum. amazingspiderma: Whoever was behind the start of boko haram had significant knowledge about the Nigerian Military intelligence and capacity(SWOT analysis). For those who don't understand,SWOT is a management accronym for strength, weakness, oppourtunity and threat. Shakau was just a magnet used to draw people in,through whatever ideology he stood for. But the resourcefulness of boko haram when it came to information, training, administration, weaponry and supprise attack attest to the fact that it is lead by sophisticated hands. I must say that the leaders in these regions have sworn an allegience of silence, not to reveal any important information. The only make indirect comments.Don't speak, don't act, just watch. When IS started in Syria little did people know that they were going to become a major force in Iraq, the whole region and the world. Those who refuese to learn from history are bound to repeat it. If every home in the north could still manage to get a campaign poster in the last election, such that there was a massive victory in the region for the APC despite the level of insurgence operation, then there is no excuse for mobilization against terrorism on the part of north. When BH started,it was seen as a strenght now it has become a weakness,it was seen as an oppourtunity now is has become threat. Some of the northern leaders believe they have places to run to when things got out of controll, which is why they are not yet serious. There is a difference between a man who has commitment to a cause and one who has an alternative cause. So far I don't see any man from the north who has commited to this cause. If any has,I stand corrected. We are still waiting for geniue leadership on the part of north. If things continues this way, then other regions in the country would have to start thinking of contigiencies. It is a hard statement, but it seems we are running out of options. Just like I stated before, those who neglect history are bound to repeat it. |

Why can't you see that this sharing system has stopped other states from being productive. Other states has abandon their agricultural and mineral resources no wait for ND resources to wonder they insist on one Nigeria. What a fraud! This contraption called Nigeria is a fraud! JaaizTech: Another myopic and naive view of issues. The Niger Delta is part of Nigeria, and Oil like other mineral resources is the common wealth of Nigerian states, which is managed by the FG. Besides that, what is the ND actually contributing to the exploration of crude oil in ND, besides that it was God's given. Apologies, but just trying to put issues in proper perspective, the oil was put there by God, and it is being pumped out by white men (Shell, Chevron etc) and Nigeria simply takes her share of the sale, Oil producing state also gets their own special share, the rest is shared between other Nigerian states, the ND inclusive.
The ND should be asking herself what she has made of the billions being allocated to it |
Politics › Re: NNPC Releases First Monthly Oil And Gas Report by DMerciful(m): 8:32am On Oct 10, 2015 |
Oil thieves is not the main problem of Nigeria,no! Its the fraudulent partial federal system that has turned the nation into tens of millions of lazy people. This fraudulent federal system is the problem majorly of Nigeria and we must restructure or split to move forward. obailala: Its unfortunate that Nigeria depends solely on niger delta oil, but you have to live with it, I'm sorry. May you also be reminded that the cocoa producers you talk about also pay tax/royalties to the government, albeit much smaller (insignificant) compared to oil.
Now regarding the bolded part of your statement, you say a child should be ALLOWED to steal his mother's food, but in your myopia, you have failed to see that the biggest thieves of the mother's food are actually the neighbors, yet you defend them blindly. This is your exact folly which I have been trying to point out to you. The recent oil billionaires being indicted alongside madam bear names like Kola Aluko, Jide omokore etc... I'm sure you also know the names and multi-ethnicity of the people that popped up as culprits in the fuel subsidy scam?... Yet you say they should all be let go because in your myopia, you actually think it is your people that are the real thieves, and you think you are defending your people by this folly; what a shame!
Well unfortunately, if you dont give a damn about who steals meat from your mother's pot, there are a lot of reasonable people who do. Be ye informed that it is the business of the neigbours if a few rogues keep stealing meat from your mother's pot and that is simply because your neighbours also feed from that pot. If you think the crumbs the thieves toss at you is enough (that's if you even gain a kobo from the thieves), there are a lot of people out there whose little share of that meal from your mother's pot is greatly affected by the actions of these rogues. These people cannot sit back and go hungry because you think it's your mother's pot. |
