Let's say corruption is the unwanted pregnancy. Bok0hari wants to abort the pregnancy and abort the woman as well grin. You fight corruption with wisdom cos you don't want to kill the economy in the process. undecided

Is bokoharam not a national calamity? Did it unite us? Or you want a nuclear explosion to unite us? Water and oil cannot mix.....we ain't one and will never be! undecided
razid:
I totally agree with you that Nigeria is not a nation. Two things make a nation according to a school of thought - homogenuity and leadership. Nigeria can never be a nation by the first category as its composition makes that impossible. However, if given the chance, Nigeria can be a nation if we have a credible leadership that can galvanise each of the component together. For now, that leader is still elusive, not that it is not possible but we shouldn't shy away from the fact that we are yet to have a leader that will selflessly bring out the best of the various components that make the entity called Nigeria. My friend, who knows, you might be the leader we have been waiting for. grin grin grin

Another thing is that we have not had a national catastrophy that could bring out the nationalism in all of us. Have you ever wondered why when you are watching a football match and Nigeria scores and all of us regardless of tongue and faith explode in euphoria? It's because we have a common enemy that need to be defeated at that point in time. It doesn't matter if Emmanuel Emenike or Ahmed Musa or Gbolahan Salami that scored the goal. All that matter is an enemy needed to be defeated and that is all. I have never seen a situation whereby a Yoruba person will say he would not celebrate a goal because it is scored by an Igbo person or an Igbo person would not celebrate a goal because it was scored by an Hausa man. It is because at that point in time, we are united by purpose, our national pride is at stake. I have been in a group of people that represented Nigeria at a point in time. We all worked together to make Nigeria proud. At that time, tongue and faith didn't matter, we all had each other's back and the dignity of Nigeria was what mattered to us. So maybe because we have not had a national calamity in the real sense, our nationalism is yet to manifest. Remember America during 9/11, they left all their immediate problems and united to fight the common enemy. They didn't look for how many whites were killed or how many blacks died; or how many Christians or how many Muslims. To them, America was under attack and every America should see that as a threat.

Recently, many Nigerians got killed in Mecca, what were our reactions? Some Nigerians are getting killed day by day in the North East, how do we react? Some people died recently in Onitsha as a result of petrol tanker explosion, did it matter to us? No, because we see it as a regional thing. I tell you if tomorrow a country like Benin Republic invades Nigeria and God forbid kill many people in Lagos, nobody will tell those who are shouting secession to fall in line. As far as I don't pray for a national calamity, let's just hope that we will find a leader that will galvanise and bring the best in each of us. Thank you.

Who are the founding fathers? Amadu Bello the sectional leader? Tarawa Balewa the sectional leader? Obafemi Awolowo the sectional leader who does not know his true enemies? Nnamdi Azikiwe who was short sighted not to see the difference btw North and South? Is it Akintola that was dining with the devils? Those guys ruined our foundation and by extension ruined Nigeria for good. They are no heroes! If there were wise, they would have given us a foundation that is not faulty. How the hell did our leaders allowed us to be together when south and north is like oil and water that cannot mix? They set us for failure. undecided

You are right! The people that died in Abuja yesterday felt Buhari's impact. You know nothing!
luvmijeje:
I don't want to complain........ But Fashola have done the difficult job, so what's hard in following his template.

This is not a case of Buhari taking over from a failed administration which by the way Nigerians have started feeling his impact.......... He took over from Fashola - Mr excellent.

As far as we've started feeling the impact of the President.... Ambode who's closer to us have no reason to fail.
Politics › Re: When My President Is A Bloody Liar by DMerciful(m): 8:01am On Oct 03, 2015
Op you are right. The President said he'll have his cabinet by 30 Sept but now we got only a list that is not complete. Buhari does not have the capacity or potential to move us forward and its obvious for any thinking person to see. But the scary part is that 90% of Nigerians are dishonest....so how can Nigeria move forward? Nigeria cannot move forward when people have double standards for assessment. undecided

Since then you're even thankful for being given 13% of what wholly belongs to you. While the north and west gets the bulk. Niger Delta wake up! About 85% corrupt? Where did you get this data from? Kindly provide a source.

Did I say so?

Aren't you the one assuming that all public officials are incorruptible by your previous comment.

Okay, I ask a honest question..

Aren't most in the previous dispensation corrupt...say 85% ?

Wishful thinking.

When in reality the public officer you say you prefer was generating N10billion and stealing N9.5 BILLION leaving only N500 MILLION for the Nigerian Commonwealth!
Politics › Re: The Sales Girl, Jonathan And Muhammadu By Ena Ofugara by DMerciful(m): 5:10pm On Oct 02, 2015
Like they say the cup is half full or have empty depending on the perspective its looked from. for me, I prefer a public officer that will generate 10billion and misappropriate 1 billion than a public servant that will generate 2billion and misappropriate 0billion...net i there is 9billion for the people. Governance is not about holy men but about poverty elimination grin

Saying Islam is a religion of peace is a great travesty! is like saying honey is bitter! I just tire jare! Politics › Gained Independence From The British Yet Not Independent 55years Later! by DMerciful(op): 8:14pm On Oct 01, 2015
A deep observer of Nigeria from 1960 till date will agree with me we are not united as a nation but rather the presence of crude oil in the Niger Delta is the unifying force of Nigeria and its a shame.

Suffice to say that we gained independence only to enter another 'crude oil slavery'. Looking at the polity today, you don't need a soothsayer to tell you that Nigeria can never progress with the current structure because it is a consumption dependent structure rather than a production dependent one. In simple terms we are not designed to succeed and unless Nigeria restructure to a system that encourages resource control, we can never get to the promise land.

So why all this celebration? What are we celebrating? The fact that we consider being together a great achievement means something is wrong with our coexistence. Its strange to see the kind of hope people have when the foundation is seriously flawed! We have no choice but to restructure if we must progress!
Politics › Re: Who Is The Best Nigerian President Since Independence by DMerciful(m): 5:09pm On Oct 01, 2015
GEJ.....He did institutional reforms that are sustainable and they(the cabals) saw that he is destined for greatness based on his ideology and they fear what it will be if after 50yrs of inept leadership, a minority eventually becomes the messiah so they did everything to frustrate him including turning to suicide bombers! undecided

Politics › Re: Foreign Reserves In Steady Decline... by DMerciful(m): 9:05am On Sep 29, 2015
When the cosmetic governance fades away then the true challenges of governance sets in. The other day there was loss of about 330MW from the national grid due to gas pipeline vandalisation and now falling reserves....these are the challenges of governance not cosmetics of slashing salary by 7million/annum when the economy has lost 3trillion in 100 days. welcome to change undecided

What are you on about? The ISIS you are referring to are they Christians or Moslems? The teachings of Jesus Christ and the teachings of Mohammed who would you rather follow if you want a world of peace? Isn't it ironic for you to say that ISIS is fulfilling the laws of moses they don't even believe in! History has it that Mohammed founded jihad so what are you smoking? undecided
nobilis:
Is that so?
And I guess you didn't read where Jesus said he came to uphold the laws of Moses??
Meaning that Jesus was following Moses?
You didn't read that part obviously (you guys are fond of forming a blind eye to uncomfortable parts of your bible yet you are always judging and hating on other religions).

You follow Jesus. Jesus follows Moses.
So you also follow Moses.
Simple logic.
