PoliticsRe: Why Are General Buhari's Campaign Speeches So Short? (Picture) by dollarlander: 1:22pm On Jan 30, 2015
His speeches are short because most of the long speeches PDP had been telling us are full of lies. We need short speech and full action. Not long speech and massive looting of the national treasury.

You don't call an army general an illiterate. If you are not opportuned to get exposure to the elites in Nigerian defense system I pity you. They are better educated than you think you know. Many at times some of them come to our conventional universities unknowingly to you and you don't know who you are sitting with.

You cannot get to the top in federal parastata without adequate education especially in the military. The military have high values for education than most of the civilians. They engage in continuous education and training. Unlike most of you, if you are able to finish your HND or BSC, chai thank God. If you are not privilege for the next 20yrs to go back for other higher degrees you stay in one bank working like mumu until the management has no reason keeping you on thier pay roll.

There is a need to correct or instill some morals in our degraded system. Absolute freedom of speech can cause absolute moral decadence, it shows that most of the guys that come on Nairaland to type trash are not enlightened.

You need exposure.

FamilyRe: My Mother Inlaw Caught Me Kissing My Wife's Friend in our washroom. by dollarlander: 11:55am On Jan 26, 2015
zeefa:
Please, I need a serious advise from people in the house. I really don't know what to say to my mother in-law, may be to beg her or ignored as if nothing happen.

Let me give you a little summary of what happened to me.

My wife just put to bed and the whole loads of work have been much for her that she called on her friend who just graduated from the university to come and stay with us so that she could help with little work at home.

We didn't have problem with her because it will save her from paying bills whereas we have more space in our own house for her to occupy free of charge without having to pay any bills.

She was so hard-working and even without telling her,she knows what to do at the right time. She does all the cooking for us and most time before I get home from work, she calls me to ask what I would love to have for dinner which she will gladly organise.

Gradually, we get little bit close and talk freely to each other without having to define our boundaries.

Wumi is a dark skinned chobby lady with a 42DD size (please don't ask me how I got to know her size). And am sure those that have the picture of sizes on their brain will understand my point. It was tempting.

It all started when I got home and saw her cooking with one nasty top showing off her assets. She caught my attention and smiled and I returned my gesture given her a soft smile too and that was how the whole madness started.

My mother in-law just came from nigeria few days ago to help us as well. But left for me, I was enjoying the new atmosphere with Wumi in our house.

Just yesterday the nasty incident happened. Mama caught me in d washroom kissing and touching wumi huh. Meanwhile, my wife went for Dr appointment for our son with cold.

Right now, I'm afraid because mama didn't say anything and I don't know how to convince her as well.

Wumi is not comfortable at home again and I can't look into ma ma's face anymore.

The funny thing is that mama didn't discuss what she saw with my wife because I knew if my wife heard, in fact, I wont be on nairaland now to narrate the story of my life.

Please, do I call mama and beg her? Or should I just ask my wife to allow her (wumi) go since mama is around. ?

I'm really confused here because I can't not face or talk to Mama freely at home anymore.

Please what do I do?
You actually fell into wumi's trap for you. Wumi must have seen something in you that she likes or she may be jealous of her friend.

My advice to you is that you should give your life to christ and let the word of God richly dwell in you. Because, if you are really born again you won't cheaply fall for wumi's lure like that. You will have to tell your wife that Wumi should leave. If wumi is still around more troubles are on the way. Wumi may device another strategy to get mama out of the way even by putting sleeping dose into mama's food.

Secondly, call mama and beg her privately. Mama will not talk so that she will not be the one to scatter her daughter's home. But your silence as if nothing happens will connote to mama that you are highly irresponsible. Then tell mama that you've told your wife to ask wumi to go. She will still tell mama that you want wumi to leave and mama will support it.

And promise mama that such will never happen again. And stick to your wife. After few months, when the dusts are down then call your wife and tell her all the truth, if at all what you wrote here is the truth and not you that enticed wumi. Let your wife know everything because wumi may still go behind and tell your wife something else. Because if wumi actually likes you expect some more tactics.

Then beg your wife very well. But before then start to show her the kind of love and affection you've never shown before. Buy her more gifts, improve more on your performance on the bed. Stop complaining about her, let her have her ways always. What she used to do that you scold her before, let her go scotch free.

I pray that God will give you wisdom to handle this matter. But give your life to Christ, this is very important. God bless you.

Nairalanders, what are your take about this post. As oil price decline inthe world market note that it will affect the government decisions and will definitely trickle down to many Nigerians on the street.

What advice do you think we need to give to our government whose recurring expenditure is over 70% and no capital investment which is affecting the way we do our business and earn a living.

Our leaders are buying private jets at the expense of tax paying Nigerians and fueling and maintaining the jets at very expensive cost. And we have teaming populations of Nigerian graduates without Job.

The external reserve that could help cousin the effect of global economic melt down has been wasted by our politicians.

So, Nairalanders which way to go. What do we do to help ourselves in this trying periods.

Thanks.
BusinessOPEC, Oil Companies Clash At Davos Over Price Collapse by dollarlander(op): 10:11am On Jan 22, 2015
(Reuters) - OPEC defended on Wednesday its decision not to intervene to halt the oil price collapse, shrugging off warnings by top energy firms that the cartel's policy could lead to a huge supply shortage as investments dry up.

The strain the halving of oil prices since June is putting on producers was laid bare when non-member Oman voiced its first direct, public criticism of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries' November decision not to cut production but instead to focus on market share.

Oil prices have collapsed to below $50 a barrel as a result of a large supply glut, due mostly to a sharp rise in U.S. shale production as well as weaker global demand.

The rapid decline has left several smaller oil producing countries reeling and has forced oil companies to slash budgets.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the heads of two of the world's largest oil firms warned that the decline in investments in future production could lead to a supply shortage and a dramatic price increase.

Claudio Descalzi, the head of Italian energy company Eni Spa, said that unless OPEC acts to restore stability in oil prices, these could overshoot to $200 per barrel several years down the line.

"What we need is stability... OPEC is like the central bank for oil which must give stability to the oil prices to be able to invest in a regular way," Descalzi told Reuters Television.

He expected prices to stay low for 12-18 months but then start a gradual recovery as U.S. shale oil production began falling.

STICKING TO GUNS

But both OPEC and Saudi Arabia, the group's largest producer, stuck to their guns.

"If we had cut in November we would have to cut again and again as non-OPEC would be increasing production," OPEC Secretary General Abdullah al-Badri said in Davos.

"Everyone tells us to cut. But I want to ask you, do we produce at higher cost or lower costs? Let's produce the lower cost oil first and then produce the higher cost," Badri said.

"Prices will rebound. I saw this 3-4 times in my life."

Al-Badri said the policy was not directed at Russia, Iran or the United States.

State-run oil company Saudi Aramco Chief Executive Khalid al-Falih also appeared unfazed, saying that although it could take some time, the oil market will eventually balance itself.

The chief executive of French oil major Total Patrick Pouyanne echoed Descalzi's warnings.

"There is a natural decline of five percent a year from existing fields around the world. That means by 2030 more than half of the existing global oil production will disappear. There is an enormous amount of money that needs to be invested to get another 50 million barrels per day of new production," Pouyanne said in Davos.

Total is set to cut capital spending by 10 percent this year from 2014's $26 billion, reducing investments in the North Sea and U.S. shale production, he added.

Total joins a raft of international oil companies, including BP and ConocoPhillips, that have slashed 2015 budgets due to lower prices.

(This story corrects second paragraph to show Oman is not an OPEC member)

CelebritiesRe: Alibaba Blasts Fayose Over Advert: You Put Jonathan In A Mess (Pics) by dollarlander: 8:43am On Jan 20, 2015
Actually, Alibaba is very right. Jonathan surrounds himself with very clueless people and that has made him more myopic in doing his job eventhough he has good intentions.

What Fayose did to the image of Jonathan, as far as the North West is concerned, the image of Jonathan has been further deprecated. Fayose is dividing this country along ethic divide and this is very dangerous to the coexistence of our dear country.

This shows the kind of person who fayose is. He does not have a nationalistic spirit that existed in people like Ahmadu Bello, Nnamdi Azikwe and Obafemi Awolowo. He does not have the nationalistic spirit that is in people like Obasanjo, Buhari, Babngida, Yar'adua. And he is the one that will rise up to quickly criticise them. So you see the kind of people we have as our leaders.

I just pity Ekiti state. They supposed to be leading by example in Nigeria, with all the professors in each families of the state. professor Atiala, professor Atioro, professor Jigabu and all sorts. They could not have one professor as their governor except this tout who did not finish school because of cultism acitivies.

bishopclin:
I saw various posts on the social media, criticising federal government's reduction of gasoline(PMS or Petrol) pump price from N97 to N87. More worrisome is the fact that some of our youths join the bandwagon in the criticism.

I wonder why we have some youths of our country who can not make use of their brains to ponder on issues that would further enrich the country. Present day youths are being tossed around by the older ones and sometimes, by illiterates. ‎

Drivers paid an average of $2.2021 a gallon for regular gasoline at U.S. pumps of recent in the US (do some ‎confirmation) 1US gallon = 3.7854ltrs‎ ‎$2.2021 = N398.58 (@ exchange rate of N181/$) Therefore, 1gallon = N398.58 ÷ ‎3.7854ltrs = N105.29/ltr in the US

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, after taking into consideration, landing costs and other expenses, it is N85/ltr for the same litre of gasoline yet people are ignorantly ranting on social media and elsewhere. Between Nigeria and the US, which is better? What has happened to some present day youths in my dear country, Nigeria‎? Mr. President, Goodluck Jonathan has indeed shown that he has the interest of Nigerians at heart.‎
I have issues with your thinking faculty. it is like your wisdom pipe is blocked. if you are reasonable as you think you are, why must you write about
bishopclin:
"Meanwhile, in Nigeria, after taking into consideration, landing costs and other expenses" .
We have oil in abundance in this country, we used to have working refineries, why are they not working if J.onadaft is a visionary leader. Did we import oil into the country when Buhari was in power? why do we have to import when we have the capital to invest in oil production and we have youths with enough manpower to ensure the running of the facilities.

What we youths are fighting and your blocked views can not perceive is that our leaders are corrupt and they benefit largely from importation of refined crude oil. That is why bunkering cannot stop in the niger delta because the leaders are the ones supporting them.

Brother or who you may be, think very deep. If you were born in the early 70's or late 60's and you know where Nigeria was then, you will prefer we go back and start from there. Please, always weigh your thoughts before you pour rubbish here.
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo Is My Problem -Jonathan Cries Out In Secret Meeting by dollarlander: 4:12pm On Jan 19, 2015
jcflex:
Ruffled by the momentum generated by the nomination of Pastor Yemi Osinbajo as General Mohamadu Buhari's running mate, President Goodluck Jonathan is asking a group of Pentecostal pastors to help him avert what he fears could be an impending loss in next month's presidential polls.

Osinbajo, a prominent cleric with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, law professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN emerged APC's presidential running mate last month giving President Jonathan and the ruling party, PDP, what is being described as sleepless nights, by sources.

Specifically last Thursday, the President held a meeting in Abuja, with a number of Pentecostal pastors led by Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel, with the main agenda being how to fashion out ways to solve the "Osinbajo" problem.

Sources at the meeting confirmed that President Jonathan confessed in a rather rattled and humbling manner that "Osinbajo is my problem."

According to those at the meeting, the President added that "everything was okay until APC picked Osinbajo."

This is coming against the background of wild speculations that APC is an Islamist party and that General Buhari is a religious fundamentalist-which has become one of the main planks of the PDP presidential campaign. While PDP chieftains and supporters have continued to characterize APC as an Islamist party, APC leaders have consistently dismissed such as unfounded, baseless and a scare tactic by the PDP.

Many observers say the nomination of a prominent Pentecostal pastor from the fastest growing church in Africa by the APC may have effectively doused such speculations and the attempt to label the party as one with an islamization agenda.

There has been a rather conscious attempt to make next month's presidential polls a religious one especially in the Southern part of the country where there is a much larger Christian population, observers say.

At the meeting organized by the Executive Secretary of the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) John Kennedy Okpara, President Jonathan poured out his mind that running against a leading Pastor of the RCCG, who is also known to be very close to the much reverred General Overseer of the church, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, is an uphill task.

Sources at the meeting, said Jonathan was ruffled and much distracted as he confessed to the challenge to him, of the APC naming such a person as Osinbajo as General Buhari's running mate.

In response, the Pastors led by Bishop Oyedepo assured the President at the meeting that they would, "starting from today," use every device possible including social media, the pulpit and influence peddling, to campaign in support of President Jonathan and against the Buhari-Osinbajo ticket.

Before the meeting with the President, sources said the pastors held a meeting on the same day to strategize and agree on how and what they would present to the president.

At that pre-meeting, some Pentecostal pastors suggested that they use the opportunity of the meeting afforded by the President to express their genuine fears on growing insecurity in the North with Boko Haram killing and attacking Christians and other innocent Nigerians.

But Bishop David Oyedepo, the most influential pastor at the meeting interrupted the idea, insisting that the meeting was to encourage and strengthen President Jonathan ahead of the elections and not to discuss compelling national issues of concern to majority of Nigerians.

While some of the pastors were shocked and disappointed that Bishop Oyedepo would not allow them to raise important issues bothering most Nigerians, they decided to keep silent not to be seen as spoilsports.

And later after meeting the president, the pastors gathered together again on the same day to device strategies they will use to campaign against Buhari/Osinbajo, with the main scheme being to label the ticket as an Islamist one.

Some of the pastors also suggested that they can influence Christians that the position of Vice President is not an effective one, and that having a Christian hold it makes no difference, although the Nigerian constitution and the order of precedence makes the office the next in rank to the president.

Indeed as if carrying out the resolve, members of the Winners Chapel said Bishop Oyedepo has already started using the pulpit to achieve the goals set out at last Thursday meeting in Abuja.

Some of the members said yesterday Sunday January 18, Bishop Oyedepo raised a prayer point that an Islamist would not become the President of Nigeria in the polls coming next month to the chagrin of many of the church attendants on Sunday.

I will never be part of them that abuse Jonathan, even thou he is very dull. But I see the hand of God in his life, God that use the foolish thing of this world to confound the wise.

What I am seeing in this matter is this. God allowed Jonathan to make it to Aso Rock so that all the thieves in Nigeria can go to Jail and vomit all they have stolen in Nigeria. Because, the recent event shows that, this is the only way Muslim and Christians can be united. There is a peace that will gradually evolve in Nigeria, there will be uncommon understanding along the religion blocks in Nigeria.

If Jonathan has not come to power to display his high level of mediocrity and lack of wisdom, at this unexpected level of amazement, no one will think of #CHANGEGMB2015#. God wanted us to know we are foolis.h Nigerians by placing one of the fool.s we have ever produced to rule us. Having seeing this, we now came back to our sense to #VOTE# right.

God has shown to us that he is almighty God that can use anything to glorify Himself. God has glorified Himself in Nigeria and Nigeria will become a wonder to America and Britain.

But in actual sense, even in the cluelessness of GEJ, he has done some very important things that will give FeBUHARI 2015 some good landing for effective economic growth. GEJ would have taken the credit but the kind of PIGS that surround him has wasted the opportunity for him. He has fulfilled his purpose and has accomplished somethings, but we need #CHANGE# very urgently.

Long live Nigeria.
