I laugh whenever I see yorubas and Igbos have a go at each other. Your tribes men might betray you one day while God might use someone from another tribe to help you. It's always a good idea to remain open minded. If anything, thread with caution but don't be close minded |

abagoro: We can make our home have high disposable income by spending most of the money we earn in diaspora at home. The problem with Igbos is they spend most of their income wherever they live. Actually Igbos send the most money to their respective states in Nigeria. Igbos have been leading for a while now. Apart from lagos, Enugu and Anambra receives the most capital investment from Nigerians living abroad. This is why Enugu and Anambra are leading in the SE.

investnow2013: Anambra is one of the richest states in Nigeria. Anambra is the richest state in the South East. Anambra state parades many of the big time businessmen and women in Nigeria. Anambra parades the highest class of intellectuals in the South East and South South. Anambra state is among the few cash-driven states in Nigeria. Anambra per capita income is one of the highest in the country. Most of the celebrated leaders in the East of the Niger come from Anambra state. In Anambra state wealth is almost distributed house to house. The economy of Onitsha is bigger than that of some states in Nigeria. Nnewi economy is bigger than that of some states in Nigeria. The economy of Awka, Igboukwu, Ekwulobia and Awka axis beats the economy of some states in Nigeria.
Anambra business men and women alone almost own 40% prime properties in Abuja and Lagos on a conservative estimate. School of thoughts says that if Anambra is not good Igboland can never be. Anambra is the strong room of Igboland, the intellectual power house of Igboland and the pride of Igbo nation, and even Nigeria.
This is the more reason why every Igbo sons and daughters must have interest in what goes on in Anambra state. This is because what goes on in Anambra directly or indirectly affects what happens in Igboland.
Anambra state is therefore critical to what happens in Igboland in terms of development, whether political, social or economic. I agree to this narrative, but for some reason the IGR doesn't reflect the wealth of the state at all. The IGR from Onitsha alone is enough to shoot it up to second behind lagos state. So, I believe there is a huge potential if the governor can create a proper tax collecting system. |

My opinion is that Anambra is punching way above her weight. This is even more so when you consider her small federal allocation/budget compared to most states like Rivers, akwa ibom, kano(most unproductive major state) etc with 3 times (Akwa ibom) her budget. This is why Nigeria needs to practice fiscal federalism. Really impress with what I am hearing so far. |

4Play: If the CBN outrightly refuses to supply foreign exchange to many importers, reserves will go up but the downside is that the Naira's value will plummet. That is essentially what we have seen as US dollars become scarce. http://www.punchng.com/business/money/cbn-adjusts-rate-as-naira-falls-to-244/
The accumulation of foreign reserves at the expense of the Naira's value is not new. Here is a quote from Wikipedia in respect of the Sani Abacha erahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sani_Abacha. Was this because the Abacha regime was not corrupt? No. What happened to the Naira whilst all these reserves were accumulated? Naira went from 22 Naira to a $1 in 1993 to 84 Naira to $1 in 1998. https://www.nairaland.com/498412/nigeria-exchange-rates-dollar-history.
The true test of whether Buhari's anti-corruption measures are working will be a repatriation of stolen wealth to nation's coffers. We won't have to read between the lines as any refunded loot should be made public. Thanks for this insight. |

kokoA: and why was cbn not doing this before Buhari came in? I think we need to look at the timing and the circumstance before giving the credit to buhari. How much is buhari riding the wave of time and how much is this down to his influence? I think the truth is probably in the middle. |

The foreign reserve point is a bit misleading. I don't think the credit should be given to buhari who doesn't have any influence on cbn. Efforts to plug leakages and the forex demand management are solely down to cbn. |
