When I joined this thread months ago, I read from page 1-60,120-2.., then from 280-till date. It takes hard work , No pain No gain.

Why should a graduate type in such a way that he alone can understand, what happens to 'effective communication' (basic rule of language), when message from the sender is clear to the receiver. Hey bro, don't be stubborn, write in simple and clear language.

Eke40seven: Here is something I culled from a website of MTH TIEBEN & PARTNER (2013) (am not sure posting the link will not earn me a ban)
It gives a step by step guide on the format for filling an appeal.
"...The Remonstration is an informal appeal where
additional information may be presented to the
embassy in order to challenge its decision.
The Remonstration has to contain the following
information regarding the identity of the person
remonstrating:
- name, first name, date and place of birth and
number of the passport.
- date of the rejection.
- the address of the person remonstrating, street
name, apartment no., postal code, country, etc.
- if possible: fax number and/or email address.
- signature of the person remonstrating, authority
(“ power of attorney”) if a third person is
remonstrating.
Furthermore the Remonstration should contain the
following:
- an extensive statement why the embassy should
abolish its decision.
- an extensive statement about the reasons why
the persons wants to visit Germany.
- documents supporting these arguments.
Please note that it is necessary to have
comprehensive knowledge about German
Immigration Law in order to write the
Remonstration, if you want it to be successful."

They should be in a PDF format as posted by lacuna.

In addition to that, give detailed reasons why the course can help you achieve your life goals (briefly state your goals); state the gaps which it (the course) is meant to fill and in what areas it can improve you, state why the choice of school and country are your best options. DON'T use clichés only, be specific, detailed and direct, e.g. This statement, "the highly competitive genre of music am into thrives on the knowledge of classical musical which am not well proficient in at the moment and the resources for learning it is not readily available in Nigeria neither and they are comparatively not reputable. The school (one of the best in Europe) offers courses in classical music which I think would help me to become a better musician, carve out a niche in the local and international music scene by combining my experiences and knowledge from the two countries i.e, Nigeria and Germany and create a brand which is completely unique.... The added advantage of studying in a country with great musical tradition and home to legendary classical musicians like Beethoven, Bach.. will help enrich my CV...." Please, DON'T QUOTE me o, as they may not be applicable in your case.
I will also add that a good statement of intent will address this well.

I am caught up in the intricate web of work, preparations for my trip, church things, family and all. Right now, i don't even know how to quit my job, how do you tell a good boss you are quitting when you practically run the all the shows. I really need to sort that out first and then i will be a little more steady here.

I will conclude, or at least attempt to conclude my victory story, lol. I need to encourage someone out there, everyone needs to know it is not as hard as it seems.

lacuna: JULY 7, 2014: my second interview

Narrowly escaping the wrath of the Ibo Man, I arrived the Consulate at about 9.45am. After due checks and handling formalities, i was ushered into the premises and was directed to the reception straight up. Noticing it was another woman who manned the reception, i felt a little agitated as I was already familiar with the black chubby woman. I handed her a copy of the mail which rescheduled me for the second interview and took my seat amongst a couple of others who were already waiting.

In less than ten minutes, my name was announced and i was ushered into the inner room. wow!!! Standing right at the door to escort me upstairs was this beautiful, amiable, lovely young lady. She was full of smiles, her countenance was so friendly and accommodating. she was a complete contrast from the old lady, this experience was a total departure from my first.

She welcomed me warmly and unbelievably, called me by my names. She then motioned by hand gesture and i trudged along while she moved behind me as we walked upstairs into her office. At this point, I knew Oluwa was involved. Did we have an interview? No! It was a conversation, a sort of interaction, a tete -a-tete between two friends. Oh God, she was just too nice. why can't all humans be like her!!! she said to me succinctly, that the reason i was invited was to clear whatever doubts they had about my intentions to undertake my Masters Degree studies in Germany and encouraged me to relax and just give my best. I nodded affirmatively and enthusiastically, too.

I remember vividly that the first set of questions she asked revolved around my sponsor. she wanted to ascertain the relationship between myself and my friend, why he was sponsoring me and basically wanted to establish if there was any real connection whatsoever between us. she asked when my friend left to Germany, why he left, where he worked, etc. Oh boy, I was fully ready so i just took time to discharge. She kept nodding, smiling and urging me on as i responded, there could never be any better motivation. God bless her heart. she is too kind to be human.

We talked about my school, courses i will be studying in the programme, the structure of the programme, my plans after the programme,etc. For me, the highlight of the interview was when she asked why i chose to study in Germany, hmmmm, by the time i finished eulogizing Germany, nna mehn, see as this woman dey laugh scatter, dey nod head. She was just so impressed. Infact, i remember that at a point, she told me to slow down so she could type those things without missing out important details. In less than twenty minutes, we were done.

At this point, she turned fully from her computer facing me and said reassuringly, `you did very well'. She told me she was going to recommend the issuance of my visa and advised i shouldn't bother myself that the interview was good and that my visa would be issued in two weeks time. I was so thrilled that i didn't want to leave her office, lol. We talked back and forth and it was a wrap. As i stood up to leave, i shook her hand warmly and thanked her effusively and stepped out. She walked me downstairs! wow!!!

JULY 21, 2014......ANOTHER MAIL INVITING ME TO THE CONSULATE. WHAT AM I EXPECTING? TO BE CONTINUED

lacuna: As i approached the exit and in observing security protocols,i was requested to sign out. At that point,the two guys who were attending to me started asking for tips. With my rejection letter and the thought of what to do,i was so upset that i almost screemed at them.I told them bluntly my visa application was not approved and therefore i wasn't ready to part with a dime. At that point one of them sympathized with me and stepped away. The other guy,I had become acquinted with on the day of my interview when I noticed we were from the same state,took special interest in my plight and wanted to know why i was denied. I told him i couldn't say exactly why but it may not be unconnected with my performance at the interview. I signed out,collected my items and was about exiting when he said to me in our dialect" Appeal. Appeal that decision, i am sure they will give you the visa".I thanked him and left. As i stepped out into the real world,hmmmm,reality hit me. I thought about all my plans and ambition to study in Germany and the set back i just encountered with my visa application refusal,the implication of what had just happened. Suddenly,a guy walked up to me,he was also rejected. We got talking and he advised that i appeal as he would also do. After we parted ways, i called my friend in Germany who gave me the sponsorship letter,he was already waiting for the outcome.I told him it was bad,i had been denied. The first thing he said was "guy, appeal that decision joor. I am a citizen of this country and i have a reputable job,no criminal records,my tax payments are up to date, my income far exceeds what the minimum financial requirements for the sponsorship letter is, so why should they deny your application".He said they just want to know how serious i am. I thanked him and hung up.

9.50 am or thereabout. . . .
I thought about going to the office but changed my mind. I was in a terrible frame of mind and everyone would notice so i headed home. Called my boss requesting his permission to be absent, he obliged and it was a bit of respite.

Took my laptop,went into my mental archives,in the end i came out with a strong,profound and agreeable appeal. For the first time in a long time,i agreed with my own piece. Satisfied,i sent it to the consulate.In less than an hour,i got a reply from them stating that my application could not be honoured because it was not signed and all appeal letters are to be in PDF. I quickly made the necessary adjustments,scanned, converted from word to PDF and sent. Again, In less than an hour,i got a response. Two things excited me about the response; its promptness and the fact that the appeal was accepted.

The undersigned( i will talk about her in my subsequent updates) said my appeal had been considered and therefore she was willing to offer me another opportunity to clarify all doubts concerning my plan to study in Germany. She gave me two dates, july 14 or 21 at 10am and requested that i choose any of those dates. I responded by opting for the first date but requested to be interviewed by 7am. This was to allow me time to quickly dash to work after the interview. After about twenty minutes,she mailed back saying, it had to be 10am and then advised that i choose 21st if 14th wasn't convenient. I was never willing to wait another week,i wanted another opportunity to clear whatever mess i had created during the first interview so i quickly confirmed the first date at 10am.

lacuna: well, like i said i will make out time to share my personal experience here,i know it will go a long way in encouraging others. I had my first interview on June 20,2014. The old woman conducted my interview and it just wasnt funny at all. All my life,as in,in my entire life,i have never met a woman so unfriendly. The interview lasted for about fifteen minutes and the moment i walked out of her office,i knew it was going to be negative obviously because, i performed very poorly at the interview. I just didn't prepare,my job took all my time as i had so much tobdo within that period plus, i was too confident owing to the fact that i cannot say i have flopped at any interview.

July 7,i got a mail requesting i come to the consulate. At the reception,the black chubby woman who eventually became friendly on my interview day after her initial gragra asked why i didnt come with an insurance policy,i told her i wasnt requested to besides,my sponsorship letter came with a German Insurance Policy. She said she was worried for me,that it wasnt going to be a good one.

In less than twenty minutes after,the old woman showed up,i was called and my original documents were handed over to me accompanied by a rejection letter which she insisted i sign. Somehow somehow, i didnt feel too bad for reasons i still cant explain. when i checked the rejection letter,the reason stated was 'doubts as to my serious intention to study in Germany'. . . .

The guy even said he will send me away, can u imagine? Mtewwww!!! After everythin, i got in and i met two cool people @Vivien and @kelechi if u guys are hear, let us hear ur experience. They went before me.
I got to the counter by d gate, counter 5, the VO na one german woman wey una dey refer to as chinese. She no be chinese ooo.

She took my documents, original, stamped my possport after she flipped thru it. I have one active american and anoda active german visa. I also have a german visa and indian visa that i have used before. She checked my sponsor ship letter, she asked me who d person was, i told her my brother-in-law. She asked me if my sister was married to a german, i told her yes. She said my visa fee, i gave it to her, she printed recipt and gave me. She now said i should pick up the phone so dat the interview can start.
She asked me why my program, i told her that my whole study and work experience has developed me for this level and dat i am going for the course because of the unique nature of the program, what i will learn, the research area and so many other things. I talk tire o. She asked what my bsc was, i told her. She asked what materials i submitted for d admission, i told her. I forgot to tell her i did video interview too as an admission requirement. She picked up my first letter that they used to notify me of admission, she read it more than 5 times, this is wat d letter says:

She read it more than 5 times, no be joke. Maybe she could believe i got a preliminary admission letter signed by d chair himself and this one no be admission letter ooo! She still see the formal admission letter join that one sef.
She asked me where my school is located? I told her munich, she said 'are u sure?' I told her that my school is in munich but my campus is in weihenstephan, freising. She said ok. She asked me which school i graduated from, i told her. She asked what i have been doing till now, i told her from my nysc in nafdac to work in a pharmaceutical firm in VI to my work with WAEC now. She asked if i still worked with them, i told her yess. She asked me to give her a breakdown of my program ie d individual courses for each semester, i gave it to her, course by course semester 1, 2 and 3, 4. She asked where i will be staying. I told her munich with my sister, she asked if my sister has a house or apartment, i told her house. She asked if they can support me financially, i told her yes. She asked what they do, i told her that my sister works for sharp and her husband works for allianz SE. I even had to give her like mini lecture on their jobs. She asked me to tell her about d town i am going to. I told her that munich is one of d biggest cities in germany, has abt 36 UNESCO world heritage sites( germany oo), is home to Oktoberfest, the football club Bayern Munich, Max Planck research institute, the best in europe, my school is the best school in germany and 2nd best in d whole of europe, she now said i should tell her abt germany in general. I told her that germany has a federal Parliament made up of Bundestag and Bundesrat, the chancellor is angela merkel,home to world class researchers and inventors like Einstein, Planck, e.t.c, had its final unification of the Eastern and western bloc in 1990, has experienced 2 world wars......... At this point, she now said i should stop. I dunno if she was afraid dat i go mention Hitler join d thing. Lolzzzz!!!!!. She asked me what i will do with the degree, i told her that i will come back to use it in naija (story, if they see my brake light sef). She asked in which area, i told her govt. She asked what i have done to prepare for my trip, i told her that i have been learning german and speaking with my program coordinator on research areas. She now said " du schribt german gut?" I now replied " ich schribe german gut nicht" lol!!!!!!. I talk say na wa oooo!!!

So, she then said thank u and that i will receive a mail later and that i should follow the instructions there. Na so, i tell am thank u ooo. My interview pass one hr sef. I stand sotee my hand and leg start to dey pain me. Lol!!!!.

emeka55: @Eke40seven..... the questions are much but i will try to answer them.

1. I choose to skip this part for private reasons
2. German education and Nigerian education are way different. Here you have to do a lot of research and study to know it, not just to pass exams. Going for lecture is not compulsory except in some lectures that require participation to be awarded marks.
The classrooms are like banking halls and the lecturers are very open minded and helpful. They don't need you to quote what is in your handout before u pass, Having an idea is enough to get your marks. There is NO COPY AND PASTE. They will find out and it can lead to your de-registration from school.
Most master courses usually require 90 credits with 3 chances to rewrite any failed course.
An average master takes 2yrs but the truth is you can do it for 5yrs if u like, As long as u have the finance to extend your visa, that's the scope some guys use to extend their stay. (u didn't hear it from me).

3. There are challenges like, sometimes it is difficult to understand the professor because of the way they speak their English. They don't know all the words in English and sometimes use the wrong words to confuse u.
Some German students can be rude at times. It is easier to get along with the International students as u are all in the same shoes.
Sometimes u sit in some lectures and don't understand anything cos what they teach is too high for your level and u begin to wonder how you got your BSc.
The German students are very private and would never ask u and don't expect u to ask them. For the most part, they are nice and willing to help.
Combining work with study is difficult but possible. Some companies don't care if u are writing exams, if u are not there when they need u, they will fire u.

4. There are many international students here but mostly exchange students from European countries. Not so many Nigerian students.
Sometimes it is even difficult to find Nigerian students but u will always know them with the way they behave.
There are 3 types of Naija students:
(a) The ones who form and live fake live speaking like Americans and forming fresh. All their friends are white and when they get introduced to other Nigerians, they start to act like they met Ebola. Yet you'd be surprised to see them in the midnight doing the same job u do.
(b) The ones that are just liberal and go with whatever comes
(c) The ones that are soaked in Naija way, rapping pidgin, moving only with Nigerians, always reminding u to hustle and save, quarelling and arguing, make u feel at home etc...
If u are a Newbie, most of ur friends will be other foreign/exchange students but when they return to their countries, you will be lonely.

5. Integration at first was hard. I always got lost on the road, too many papers to sign, accomodation, boredom, job seeking, language barrier, people staring at you...etc
I got accomodation easily by joining Facebook pages and contacting people before i came. I spent money unnecessarily eating out and going to places because i was bored and didn't have many friends.
Germans are not racist, but they are very shy and would never talk to u first. That is the way they are to everyone and people mistake it for racism. Some Germans are so obsessed with Americans and when they see a goodlooking black guy speaking English, the first thing they ask u is are you American? when u say African they show a bit of disappointed but quickly get friendly.

6. To prospective Naija students, It is worth it. Germany is a dream come true and everything works. U can travel anywhere u want to. U can go to London for a weekend with a flight as cheap as 50 euros and visa is very easy. American visa if applied for is 2yrs gbam!!! Canadian visa is like making eba. As long as u have the finance, your residence card and good purpose of visit.
Germany is very safe and the police is efficient. U dare not talk to people anyhow or get into a fight. If anyone calls the police on you, it goes into your file and will affect u even in 20yrs to come.
There are jobs, whether language or not but u must swallow your pride and do what others are doing.
It is getting cold now so buy sweaters and pull overs with jeans. Don't bother buying many shoes as it will soon be winter and u won't wear them.
When u come here, mind who u tell your life story to. Not everyone is your friend. Apply to as many schools as possible and don't loose hope. I got rejected by 13 schools and passed the last minute.
If u are a Christian, your best bet here would be to join a church. I tell u they can really help. If I can speak the language fluently, I'll never live in anywhere else than Germany.

Some of you need to learn to be humble. It doesn't cost anything to be polite and it is a privilege to be able to help someone because they will never forget how you made them feel.

Those of you asking the questions need to realise that no one is paid for answering you. Don't be quick to respond to harsh words or insult anyone. There are people willing to answer even the most funny questions because they know everyone's level of intelligence is not the same.
Even the Germans don't all have machine brains. When you insult anyone, people place a harsh tag on u and you won't be taken seriously.

If you have any questions regarding Germany, life, education system, job, survival etc... I will be glad to answer them. I will not just be posting what I was not asked as I am not a type-writer (for those of u saying I don't respond).

Eke40seven: @presiade, I wanted to answer you earlier but my phone and PC were down. However, your subsequent posts that I read on my return was rather disappointing. One thing you should learn here is that we are a closely knitted family here and any attack on any valuable member here will deter your chances of EVER getting a positive response now or in the future. DON'T attack until at least your questions have been answered. Guys make una forgive am. Him no know.
Firstly, everyone that ever chose a school spent days or months to find an appropriate one that suits their qualifications and requirements.
In response to what you requested, TU Munich, TU Berlin, RWTH Aachen, TU Dresden are traditionally top notch engineering schools in Germany and are well ranked within the top 300 in the world. Or alternatively, you can check the rankings provided by DAAD and CHE, they rank individual school by course, so, you will be able to see the best school in Mechanical Engineering, then you can now filter them according to their language requirements and others. or you can check daad, list the schools whose requirements you meet and check the best by ranking.

Their education is intensive. and you need to imbibe the culture of researching right from Nigeria. Imagine someone going for M.sc, yet he cant do simple research on "schools in germany offering M.sc in Mech engineering" using (google .com) or better still DAAD and other medium?? na wah oo...dont worry, expos/bribe dey await you for germo..

1) With your Hnd you can get admitted into a Bsc program, if you meet other requirements .
To be sincere with you if your background is IT or Engineering, I would advice you please come you wont regret it. Engineers are hot cakes here.
I've gotten a slot to work as a student when I begin my program fully and this is as a result of my background and language skills.

2)As for world class health, yes everyone has to be under an insurance which covers your health needs. As for the Job prospect, I totally agree with you. There are more opportunities for IT/Engineering students. For the records, I have two companies who developed some modules we used in our company, and Jokingly they asked me if i can work with them when I arrive in germany. and I blatantly accepted the offer...sharperly.. They assured me on getting the job in as much i can find my way in there... So the bulk of assignments lies in my hand..
