Like i've always said learning the language in Naija is key to achieving lots here, learning it here from scratch is nice but not easy, as the teachers wont explain to you in English only in German but in Nigeria you have that advantage.

German admission is not centralised so different schools or even department have the sole responsibility of giving admission as their schedule suits them. So some can take as short as several days while some can take weeks or even over a month. and it may also depend on when you apply.

Send a mail to the international student center/your department/course adviser and explain to them about your situation.
Tell them about your ability to tender a letter of proficiency from your department here in Nigeria. if its accepted, they will give you the go ahead. Some schools dont accept letter of proficiency (e.g Rhine Waal) even if you be President Goodluck Jonathan Pikin

Some schools set standards and adhere to it, while others tend to bend their rules.

No way Sir ! The only acceptable means of transferring money into your block account is through the bank. I think Deutsch bank will be interested in verifying the source. also, you need to fill in some information which the bank will need to ascertain your transaction.. As I stated earlier, your GRADUATE job prospect is greatly tied to/enhanced by your German Language proficiency and how good your degree is. Note that you have much more to prove than a native so I will advise you to work to finish among the first 20% of your class. And nobody will force you to stay back in Dresden after studies, you can always migrate to greener pastures. Nevertheless, you cannot label Dresden as a bad place, it is one of the better cities in the East and relatively industrialised and vibrant....the silicon valley of Germany or will I say eastern Europe. Czech republic is just a stone throw in case you want to add one more country to the profile of the places you have visited and no one will know you just literally trekked to the country.
By law, you are allowed to spend 18 months to 2 years legally in Germany after graduation to search for a Graduate level job.. If you have admission then you should rejoice rather than being skeptical, you could however, seek for other places in order to widen your choice.
I hope other more experienced ogas can help you out.

Just to add to what Eke40Seven has stressed out, you will be needing a bit of german knowledge to integrate well into the system. According to information i got from peeps over there, learning, studying the german language and working can be extremely stressful. if you have the opportunity to learn at least A1 here in Nigeria, do just that.. hope this helps !

My story in summary.....
I found daad around July n found this forum around August after intense googling n research. Before that I have googled almost 260 schools using Wikipedia n the process was so slow because there was no search criteria for streamlining your search like Daad. So the search was vague. I found about my school in this forum and I must confess the application was kinda easy, compared to most schools I applied for...initially I was looking for summer semester 2015 but due to the application extension of my school it was possible for me to get admission.....my interview was kinda late and the visa was granted quickly....probably due to my quick enrollment deadline.
I also had an issue of variation of age of my WAEC certificate and WAec refused to change it because I don't have a well registered birth certificate...even though I show them d first waec certificate I wrote from my alma mater and secondary school documents with my correct date of birth. ( when I didn't make english from my alma mater waec, I re registered for waec in a state government school and everything about my date of birth was wrong, day, month and year and since I made all the subjects in this waec that is what I used....but if I had seen my certificate earlier on I would have re written waec but I saw it about 10 years later...I was using my statement all this while)....but with a simple affidavit,....the embassy accepted....I really thank God.....d questions were the same thing u have read in this forum....
To the newbies in this forum please try n read....I have read all the pages in this forum...interesting ones, boring ones, intelligent, repeated ones etc it was a great experience.

Just to add to that, guys are really counting on that 8.5 Euro/hr to be precise although the minimum wage will be compulsory from 2015 but with a two year-transition period granted to the different sectors so it might not be fast enough as expected, depending on the sector although there are speculations that people who have been unemployed for long periods and people new to their work system should have to work for at least 6months before being integrated with this minimum wage and also it might not cover certain internships less than 3months.

Oh the embassy, God bless germans,the lady in charge of my file, was so kind and concern about my health after she read my email l sent to her . my school also never ceased senting me mail every now and then to know about my well being and that they are praying for me, the proffersor sent a very wonderful mail to the embassy that makes me to wonder why I deserve this favor, my amazing sister who never looked back spending her money on every move we make,l have not spend one naira since I started this journey till now,how can I ever pay back this woman who is more than a mother to me, God bless her with all the good things of life. Yes you are right. Don't go without an email from your school extending the deadline for your enrollment as that will be a genuine reason for denying you the visa. You should call and email your school as advised and go with the printout of the email from the school showing the header of the message (your school's email and yours) so it will look genuine and not fabricated. If you go without it, you can be very sure that you will be denied unless you have already included the health insurance in your visa application initially (maybe that was why you were not requested to come along with another health or travel health insurance) but even at that, its better to err on the side of surplusage than be taken unawares.

So play the delay game until you get something good enough from your host institution before going to the Embassy as any mistake in the timing either by unnecessary delay or being too much in a haste in contacting them without the needed arsenal (letter from the school) could be fatal to your case. This is just my own opinion.

Hello people. I attended my visa interview on September23 and the enrollment extension deadline given to me by the sch I gained admission was October15. Few days after the deadline had passed I sent a mail to the embassy requesting to know the status of my application. They replied that they are yet to receive a response from the alien authority at my proposed place of residence in Germany. I sent a mail to the sch explaining why I cldnt make it to Germany b4 the deadline date. I also sent them a copy of the mail I received from the embassy and I asked for further extension. They have not replied my mail till date and jst last nite, I got a mail from the embassy asking me to come with my passport and the printout of the mail I received. There was nothing like health insurance among the requirements. Please what does this mean? will I be issued my student visa or am I being denied the visa?

Oga, its very compulsory for you to go with 3months travel insurance. Also, you might be asked to tender an email from your school confirming the extension of your registration.

My candid advise for you is to mail/call your school to send an email. tell them you've been asked to come for your visa, and you will be needing an email which clearly states an extension for at least one week. cos the embassy will surely ask for it knowing fully well that your admission might have elapsed.
