Martinez19: First and foremost, Gen. 19:16 confirms the misuse of Lord to mean the angels(study deeply the originals if you have) . What actual was going to happen was a natural disaster the first time of it's happening. The right conversation between Abraham and these angels in Gen. 18 was '... If you see so and so number of righteous people will you do all you can to protect the city?' the angels replied in affirmative. Even if Abraham had reduced the number to one, they would still have responded in affirmative. Remember I told you that they were on a rescue mission. They were to tell the whole city about the forthcoming disaster but instead the people gave them no chance preferring above all things to rape the men and thus no hope for them. Preaching in public was a suicide mission for these angels. The angels warned lot's household and lot listened unlike his son in laws who laughed it off. So what happened to the city later that night was the reigning of what seems to be to be multiple meteorites. The scientific background then was poor and it was attributed to the Lord(translators tried to make it all match but got it wrong. These translators too had poor scientific background you know before 1611 the Catholic Church then the reigning church supported the geocentric model and other erroneous believes now proved wrong. This was before the time of Newton and the likes. Going against the church was suicidal. The writer of the original text originally made the same mistake of crediting the disaster to God since it seemed supernatural). The rescue mission was for those who were willing to listen. Were lot's daughters righteous? , people who slept with their father to have children. They reached out to lot's son in laws who didn't listen, would you say they were righteous?. So you see God never masterminded the destruction . If we were as crude are they were then, we too would have attributed it to God since it seemed supernatural. Look at Ananais and Sapphira, do you think the Lord killed them? Big no. Peter then was the head of the church and a deep study of Peter shows he was no well grounded in the knowledge of Christ. 2 Peter 3: 15-16 shows you that he later became a student of Paul's epistles. 2 Peter 3:9 shows you that Peter finally knew that God's will is for to man not to perish. How could God have killed the couple is we have forgiveness of sin through Jesus Eph. 1:7 and Col. 1:14 and there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus Rom. 8:1.? If the leader, Peter, was not well grounded in the knowledge of Christ how do you expect Ananais and Sapphira to know much. Besides they have lived long under the law in which anything a prophet says comes to pass. So when peter told them they had lied, he told them they were going to die(he should have put them in order with the Word), and they so much believed it they got heart attacks both of them. Have you see people who got so frightened they slumped and died? So was the case my brother. Peter misused his words and brought about their deaths. Any question? This is a new interpretation to the bible and i am loving it(going back to the fragmentation we agreed upon earlier on). Alright, lets agree God doesnt kill, how about the obvious myths in the bible such as Adam and eve, the talking snake, the talking donkey, the sun standing still...i want to get your perspective on these fables! |

Martinez19: just like I said there are errors on the part of the translators and let's point it out as I look at the story. Look at Gen.18 closely and you observe that angels in form of men were going somewhere when Abraham invited them to his house. Where were they going? They were going to Sodom and Gomorrah. After they prophesied about Isaac's coming and they were about to leave they contemplated in Gen. 18:17-19 on telling Abraham and they did in Gen.18:20-21. The use of Lord to represent God was erroneous as Abraham out of respect used it for the angels. Gen. 18:20-21 shows you that they heard about Sodom sinfulness, from who? God check it (remember they are angels). They said when they see they would know the extent of sin. Mind you they never said kill. Check it. The problem here was the translators consistent use of Lord to represent God instead of the angels. Also note that Abraham had this mindset that God gives and take which I debunked in my earlier post (you may need to go through them) and started saying that if the angels saw so so and so people they should spear and not kill. Kill? did they mention kill? Check it out. If you compare the original Hebrew text with the king James you did be surprised at the errors of addition and the rationality of these non-Christian translators coming to play. Look at Rom. 8:1the original Greek translation did not include 'who do not walk according to the flesh but, according to the spirit'. Their rationality came in to play again because they saw the original statement as nonsensical even though it is true (when you study salvation). Matt. 17:21 was never in the original Greek translation at all. But the scholars added it because they thought believing alone can't be enough (which is a lie) and Christians are like this ie. they find it hard to believe the simplicity of God but prefer complexity and working it out. How sad Before I finish my teaching any disagreement on the part? Mind you, the Bible is not in support of Catholics(story for another day). So according to you, who was responsible for Sodom and gomorrah's destruction if the bible translators made a mistake? |

Martinez19: very good, you are a thinking man. I like people who don't just believe anything. Now, you should know that the new testament was written in Greek and old testament in Hebrew. Moreover, the men who translated the Bible to English made errors by adding a little based on their thinking and rationality as seen on comparison with the original text (though it is negligible) . The Bible says that the scripture is given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. That word 'scripture' in Greek is verb not noun meaning that the urge to write was given by God but what was eventually written down was dependant on the writer's scope and revelation. Does 2 Sam 24:1 and 1 chronicles 21:1 appear to contradict? Yes it does, that shows you that the story's inspiration came from God but what was eventually written down was dependant on the writer's scope of understanding. Corruption inspired fela's music not the lyrics, beats and genre. In that story of David, the person doing the mass killing was not God but the evil one and it was not God's anger but a disobedience to exodus 30:12. David made the census without a ransom for every man so the spirit of death capitalized on this opportunity and many people died mysteriously. And of course, the old testament folks(many) not knowing Satan attributed it to God. God gives and never takes. Noah's case was not God's idea. Adam's sin caused death to reign not just in the body of man but the earth. Remember that it would have caused nothing for God to kill them right away isn't it? Why waste your time gathering animals and suffering a man to build a boat? Besides, he would have buried them as he buried Moses. During creation, God made two bodies of waters, one below(sea, rivers etc.) and one above meaning a body of water uniformly lined the upper atmosphere. Because death reigned, all was disintegrating and God told Noah to start building ahead of time. If God wanted to kill them, why allow Noah to warn them. They died simply because they would not heed Noah's advice and God's warning so they perished look at Jesus' statement in Matt. 24:37 no attributions to God. They died because they wouldn't listen. To understand the Bible, you must read it in the light of the epistles so as to rightly divide the Word. Read Luke 9:51-56 Jesus was rejected but he showed the natured of God against His law-bred disciples. God can't, has never and will never kill anyone. He is love. Any question before I race to Sodom and Gomorrah's story? Nice perspective, no questions for now,you can proceed! |

Martinez19: one thing you should know is that God can't kill. It was a tradition of the old testament folks to attribute supernatural events to the workings of God as they don't have revelation of who Satan was. In fact you can count how many times Satan was mentioned in the old testament . The writer of Job knew Satan and told us that Satan, under permission, destroyed job's household but when we look at job's reply he said God gives and takes but now let me ask you who did it? Satan, why? Because he had the keys to death and hell until Jesus stripped him off it in revelations chapter 5. So you see death is the handiwork of lucifer. Remember Elisha and the little kids? Did God support their kill? No God made it that when His ordained prophets say a thing, it comes to pass as a proof that they are His so you see that was what was operating then and coupled with Elisha's misuse of power, 42 children died. And since death was involved, you know Satan was involved as he had the key to death and hell. You can now explain elijah' calling down of fire to kill 50 men. 2 pet. 3:9 shows you it is not God's will for men to die. Men die by ignorance, wrong choices and stupidity. This lays down the preliminary of my teaching, any disagreement on your side before we discuss Adam and eve and the likes? Ok i do agree an all loving God wouldnt kill but if the bible was inspired by him, why ddnt he make it clear to the writers that those deaths were on lucifers head not his? Mind you, the flood of Noah and the destruction of sodom and gomorrah amongst a few were clearly his idea! So i dont really think the God of the old testament is as innocent as you make him sound |

Martinez19: well, we say things are hard to believe or accept because we see no correlation or logical relationship until first hand experience or deep unbiased research and reflection. As for evolution, it is true that fossils in which mysteries abound exist even for extinct species but equating it with humans because they look alike is plausible but it lacks certainty. How can animals that don't live long undergo a million years evolution? Why can't we see evolution around us? Concerning the seeming flaws in the Bible, there are many instances where a loving God appears to kill or permit evil. Could you pick a case you know a let trash it out? Oh but we do see evolution around us, why do you think some insectides don't have effects on mosquitoes, because those mosquitoes that were resistant to it have been naturally selected. Google Lewinsky experiment and see how he showed how new traits arised in a set of bacterial, that was d definition of evolution in the lab. It's a misconception that evolution happens in an organism lifetime, no it doesn't, its very slow changes over many many years, its like asking when does a child becomes an adult, dere is no time when a sumone went to sleep a child and woke up an adult, its happens everyday slowly and gradually that after years, you realize that the person is grown. That aside, the story of Adam and eve, the original sin, come on its obviously a myth...then Noah, god killing babies, Sodom and Gomorrah babies again, lets start wit does |

Martinez19: when I studied philosophy, I learnt that to know something you must believe as you can't say you know but don't believe. Well we can actually know something both don't believe it, like quantum spokyness, we know it happens, but its hard to accept it, even dark energy, we know its there but hard to get your head around Scientists believe evolution but were not there during the process but they say they have evidence by virtue of similarities observed among organisms but can you rule out the fact that this similarities could mean design by Someone with a simple basic plan employing wonderful variation. Think about it. That's not the only evidence you know, there is fossil records, embrology, vestial organs, morphology, geology, and most importantly DNA and molecular genetics. The evidence is overwhelming and it has gotten stronger over the years even the catholic church officially accepts that God used evolution to create life as do many well educated Christians. Intelligent design is a good hypothesis, but there is no evidence supporting it and science works on evidence. Can you and I discuss seeming flaws in the Bible to put you in order Ofcos we can, would love too |

Your first mistake is that you take these things at face value, you are more wowed by the fact you saw him doing the trick than you are trying to find out how he did it. I would not claim i know how he did it,(a magician never reveals his secret), but I do know that there is always a trick, you are not supposed to see it, hence the trick, but there is always always a naturalistic explanation for it. Martinez19: my brother, you just have to believe. Come to think of it, Mr A said God does not exist and Mr B said God exists. Mr A does not have the right to standardize his belief and impose it on Mr B. The same goes for Mr B. People who say God does not exist because they can't prove him or they want to go theoretical and logical. Who made this a standard basis. Is it not also theoretical possible that there exist a being perfect, all power, all knowing who created the universe and can't be seen but connected with through faith, who made it that not being able to see or hear God is a basis for His existence, that person should stand and prove it. As I can confidently tell God is very simple and real and the truth is in the bible. To know more, go around a true Bible believing church not the ones that will tell you that God placed a iceberg to sink Titanic killing millions of children or the ones that are too religious. Any thing else you want to know my brother. Nicely said, but there is a problem with that response, believe. I don't think you believe the sun is hot, you just know, because it's a fact, and I dnt think you believe that 2+2=4, you just know it, that's the definition of truth, it is singular, self-evident, independent of belief, it is fact. So I don't want to believe, I want to know and in my process of seeking knowledge, I have found that there isn't a shred of evidence for the God hypothesis. You also mentioned something about not able to prove God, I agree perfectly, no one can prove gods existence or disprove it, but because I cannot prove or disprove that there is a red calabash revolving round the sun in between the orbits of earth and mars doesn't mean i can't reject the idea because of the grounds that it is highly unlikely... |

Why ddnt he just make the rice appear right in front of your faces, I am very sure the trick happened at d time he was shaking that container...dude fine, you are religious, I respect that, but I haven't seen any real evidence for the supernatural, and I don't think any exists |

Now lets jump into the future, we would be shocked what we would find, sentient computer, teleportation, faster than light travel, uploading your consciousness to a flash drive, things of that sort, things we can't imagine, would you call it supernatural?, I doubt it, so why call the little one here that you don't understand, supernatural? |

"In philosophy, [naturalism] ' is the "idea or belief that only natural (as opposed to supernatural or spiritual) laws and forces operate in the world."
"a·the·ism ˈāTHēˌizəm/ noun disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods."
An atheist can be a naturalist. Or an atheist can have spiritual ideas that don't coincide with a naturalist worldview. Regardless the defining factor of an atheist is the disbelief in GODS, period. When a theist wants to checkmate a skeptic, all they have to do is ask, "where does morality comes from?".
It initially sounds like an impossible question but at second glance, you find you can explain morals and empathy through naturalistic means. How?
What is morals?, the ability to discern what is right or wrong! Some people claims that morals has to come from a super intelligence but I beg to differ and please hear me out. Right and wrong is a human concept not a universal concept, it is subjective. A computer cannot know what is right or wrong because it wasn't built that way, even wild animals and bird hardly pay attention to what is right or wrong, Humans are the only species that take this topic seriously, why?
We know we are a bundle of chemicals that experience certain feelings; happiness, laughter, sadness, anger e.t.c and due to our big brains, we are aware of other peoples existence and can deduce that they must have this same feelings too. So its only logical that what makes us happy would also make another happy, and what makes us sad would make another sad.
That brings me to my main point, where does morals come from? Our Imagination, yes it would surprise you, but its true, we imagine ourselves in a situation, and find out if we would like the outcome or not,if we dont, then others won't, and we conclude its wrong and vice versa. In any decision making that involves morals, we always subconsciously imagine ourselves in that situation, and since we have similar makeup of emotions, we deduce that what would be good for us should be right and what's bad should be wrong.
Its all survival instinct, I dnt see any supernatural influence. So, to drive my point, I would ask some questions and please answer them and lets test our morals
A) a train lost its brakes and is about to collide with 5 people stuck on the end of the rail. John who is the rail attendant as the ability to divert the direction of the train to the left but by doing so,the train would hit a passerby!
Q Would it be moral for john to divert the train and kill one unlucky person or do nothing and kill five people?
B) Imagine the same scenario as (A) but this time John is on a bridge where a fat man is sitting, if John pushes the fat man down to the rail, the train would stop but kill the fat man!
Q. Would it be moral for john to push the fat man and stop the train or do nothing and kill five people?

I believe there are lots of factors that keep people religious, little or no education, poverty, hardship, ill-health e.t.c These are norms in the African society, no wonder Africa is the most religious continent in the world.
Give the people quality education and they don't say stupid things like a tree is prove that God exist because it can't fall from heaven
Give the people quality healthcare and they don't have to call their pastors to intercede on their behalf
Create jobs and wealth and people don't have to pray anytime they go for an interview
I must admit there are a certain group called the hopeless religious, they are just content in their ignorance and irrationality that nothing you do would bring them out of it. That's evolution for you, random mutations resulting in a range of different human characteristics |
