Problem with most Nigerians is that we want something handled to us on a platter just because we're Nigerians. I love to be managed by a white boss than a Nigerian boss.I have had both as line managers but I enjoyed working under my white boss because he didn't use my career development to play while the black boss did the opposite. He's keen on saving for the company by cutting down training expenses at the expense of my own growth and development so he could get promotion for cutting cost. Mtcheew. There are wonderful black bosses no doubt but I'll choose a white boss over black anytime.
I concur.

Kanye West tried to assault hospital staff – Doctor warned police that he could be violent!

Kanye West’s personal physician is the one who called 911, warning the dispatcher Kanye was not violent but would become violent when police arrived to help him. Law enforcement sources tell us, the call came in as a male with mental illness. Dr. Michael Farzam said his patient’s name was “Jim Jones, 39 years old, 5’8″, 175 lbs … suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”

According to the police report the doctor told cops he had placed Kanye on a 5150 psychiatric hold and wanted him taken to UCLA Medical Center.

We’re told there’s an issue over whether the doctor actually placed Kanye on a 5150. The report goes on to say Dr. Farzam told police Kanye had attempted to assault a staff member at the gym. We’re told Kanye was handcuffed to the stretcher because it’s protocol when cops are told someone is on a 5150 hold.

CelebritiesKanye West Reportedly In Spiritual Crisis by donogaga(op): 6:05am On Nov 23, 2016
Rapper Kanye West was reported on Tuesday to be undergoing a spiritual crisis after being hospitalized for exhaustion following the cancellation of the remainder of his U.S. tour.

Recall, Kanye was taken to a Los Angeles hospital after police responded to a call for help, U.S. media reported.

A source close to the singer told People magazine on Tuesday that West was dealing with exhaustion and sleep deprivation as well as a wider spiritual crisis.

“He feels like he’s under spiritual attack, and has been for a while,” the source told People.

“Sometimes, darkness creeps in, and Kanye wrestles against it. He talks about that a lot. It’s exhausting, and it takes everything he’s got. He’s just so tired now; he’s very low energy and feels like there’s a grieving in his spirit. It’s very hard to explain, but something has happened recently, where he’s not the ‘Ye that everyone knows,” the source added.

PoliticsShell Sued In UK For 'decades Of Oil Spills' In Nigeria . by donogaga(op): 5:53am On Nov 23, 2016
Emere Godwin Bebe Okpabi, leader of Nigeria's Ogale people, unpacked four bottles of water from his homeland and lined them up on a table to show why his subjects are suing Royal Dutch Shell in a London court.

The Nigerian water is contaminated with oil and cancer-causing compounds such as benzene. It is what his people drink every day.

Lawyers for more than 40,000 Nigerians are demanding action from Shell to clean up oil spills.

Britain's High Court began hearing lawsuits on Tuesday filed by the Ogale and Bille people alleging that decades of oil spills have fouled the water and destroyed the lives of thousands of fishermen and farmers in the Niger River Delta, where a Shell subsidiary has operated since the 1950s.

They brought their fight to Shell's home base because they say the Nigerian courts are too corrupt.

"Let the shareholders of Shell who are residents of the advanced world, like Britain, let them see a representative of a kingdom that is being destroyed for them to have money," he told The Associated Press news agency on the eve the hearing. "That's blood money."

The Anglo-Dutch oil giant argues the case should be heard in Nigeria, pointing out it involves its Nigerian subsidiary SPDC, which runs a joint venture with the government, and Nigerian plaintiffs.

London law firm Leigh Day is handling the cases after it won a landmark agreement from Shell to pay $83.5m in compensation to the Bodo community for damage caused by oil spills in 2008 and 2009.

Shell originally offered $50,000 before the Bodo took their case to the same UK court.

The new lawsuits were brought by two communities located in Ogoniland, part of the oil-rich southern Niger River Delta.

They want to hold Shell, incorporated in the UK, responsible for the actions of its Nigerian subsidiary, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd, or SPDC.

The subsidiary said it has produced no oil or gas in the region since 1993.

The area is heavily affected by crude oil theft, pipeline sabotage and illegal refining.

It is arguing in court that the legal challenge is speculative and full of "legal and evidential weaknesses".

SPDC said it will challenge the jurisdiction of the UK courts in this case - arguing it concerns Nigerian plaintiffs in dispute with a Nigerian company over issues in Nigeria.

"If the Claimants' lawyers are correct as to the existence of this novel duty of care, [Shell] and many other parents of multinational groups will be liable to the many hundreds of millions of people around the world with whom their subsidiaries come into contact in the ordinary course of their various operations," the company said in its court argument.

"That would constitute a radical if not historic expansion of the law and open the floodgates to litigation on an unprecedented scale."

The Ogale and Bille communities account for only a small portion of the millions of Nigerians that human rights activists say have been injured by contamination they say would never have been allowed in the home countries of the multinational oil companies that operate in partnership with the Nigerian government.

Shell was the first oil company to operate in Nigeria, starting production in 1958.

In the 1990s, the military government sent armed troops to put down protests by the Ogoni people, turning the oil-producing south into a war zone.

One of the leaders of those protests was Ken Saro-Wiwa, a writer and environmental activist whose opposition helped stop Shell's production in Ogoniland.

He and eight others were hanged by the government of military dictator Sani Abacha in November 1995 in a case the US condemned.

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised a clean-up of Ogoniland, which was supposed to start in June but has been delayed.

The new lawsuits come at a time when Shell is pivoting towards other areas, such as Brazil.

It recently bought BG Group Plc for $52.4bn, increasing its proven reserves of oil and gas by 25 percent. And like other oil companies, it is also slashing jobs and postponing investments to adjust to lower oil prices.

But Shell is still seen as having deep pockets, said David Elmes, course director of the Warwick Business School's Global Energy Research Network.

While Shell would argue its settlement with the Bodo community shows its willingness to provide compensation for problems it caused, the new cases involve damage arising from what Shell says is sabotage and theft, Elmes said.

And as Shell looks to move to other countries, "people who feel they have a case against the company are looking to take action now", he said.

In a 2011 report, the UN said in at least 10 communities in Ogoniland, public health was "seriously threatened" by drinking water contaminated with hydrocarbons.

In one area, the water contained the carcinogen benzene at levels 900 times higher than what the World Health Organisation says is safe.

While the report recognised that oil production in the region had ceased, it criticised Shell's oversight of the remaining facilities.

The report recommended emergency measures to provide adequate drinking water. But so far nothing has been done, said Okpabi who describes himself as the paramount ruler of the Ogale people.

He brought the bottles of water to his lawyer's office in London just to make the point.

Removing his hat and leaning forward, he argues his people have been made poorer by the destruction of an ecosystem.

He is angry at Shell, arguing it called the shots for its Nigerian subsidiary and so should be held accountable in Britain.

"My system cannot give me justice," Okpabi said. "There is only one place that can give me justice. That is why I am here."

Locals await Niger Delta oil spill clean-up.

SportsCAF Gives Three Refs Red Cards For ‘poor Performance’ by donogaga(op): 4:54pm On Nov 22, 2016
Two referees and one assistant referee have been suspended for three months by the Confederation of African Football after poor performances in 2018 World Cup qualifiers in November.

Ghanaian Joseph Lamptey incorrectly awarded South Africa a penalty in their 2-1 win over Senegal.

Kenyan referee Davies Omweno denied Libya what was a valid goal in their 1-0 defeat by Tunisia.

His assistant, Berhe O’Michael of Eritrea, had wrongly flagged offside.

CAF also warned the other assistant referee in the match, Rwanda’s Theogene Ndagijimana.

Public shaming of the match officials is highly unusual in international football.

World governing body FIFA and its European counterpart UEFA, for example, maintain policies of never commenting publicly on the performances of referees and linesmen.

But CAF said in a statement that Lamptey was guilty of “poor performance” in his match and “awarded a wrong penalty for handball despite the fact that the ball never touched the hand of the player”.

Lamptey previously served a six-month ban for wrongly awarding a goal during a CAF Champions League semi-final in 2010, notes the BBC.

Omweno was also criticised for a “poor performance” which CAF said included “wrong positioning and movement, incorrect identification of fouls and failure to administer some disciplinary sanctions”.

His assistant O’Michael was barred for “offside decisions including one denying a valid goal by Libya”.

Ndagijimana was said by CAF to have “missed multiple basic offside decisions which denied teams promising attacks”.

CrimeMalawi 'hyena' Man Faces Sentencing Over Sex Ritual by donogaga(op): 4:41pm On Nov 22, 2016
An HIV-positive Malawian man who said he slept with at least 100 girls and women in traditional cleansing rituals was to be sentenced Tuesday after being convicted of “engaging in harmful practices”.

Eric Aniva was prosecuted on the orders of President Peter Mutharika after publicly speaking about his role as a “hyena” in a BBC documentary.

Custom in some parts of southern Malawi demands that a man, known as a “hyena”, is paid to have sex with bereaved widows to exorcise evil spirits and to prevent other deaths occurring.

At the request of a girl’s parents, the “hyena” is also paid to have sex with adolescent girls to mark their passage to womanhood after their first menstruation.

The ritual, which many Malawians say is rarely practised today, is believed to train girls to become good wives and protect them from disease or misfortune that could fall on their families.

After an international outcry over the documentary, President Mutharika ordered Aniva’s arrest in July.

On Friday, in the first case of its kind, Aniva was found guilty on two counts by magistrate Innocent Nebi after a one-day trial in the district of Nsanje.

The charges, under the gender equality act, involved the ritual of sex with widows as none of the younger girls would testify, according to reports.

At the trial, in front of a packed courtroom, the state produced six witnesses against Aniva, 45, who pleaded not guilty.

– High HIV rates – The magistrate said the court had concluded that “sexual cleansing violates the dignity of widows”.

State prosecutor Chiyembekezo Banda demanded a long prison sentence for Aniva, saying he was probably responsible for the spread of HIV.

Malawi is one of the worst affected countries in the world, with 27,000 deaths from AIDS-related illnesses and nine percent of the adult population infected with HIV.

Aniva faces a possible five-year jail term, according to the BBC.

Michael Goba Chipeta, Aniva’s defence lawyer, told the court his client should not be jailed.

Chipeta appealed for Aniva to not be used as “a sacrificial lamb”, saying “the publicity he has attracted is punishment enough”.

Before being led by police to his cell, Aniva told AFP: “I am not worried about being convicted. I think I will be given a suspended sentence.”

His second wife Sophia, who was in court on Friday, was in tears and declined to speak to the press.

Aniva said he had slept with at least 104 women and girls, some as young as 12, in a ritual that lasts three days.

He said each family paid him a fee of between $4 and $7.

TravelMan Begins Nigeria To UK Trek In Campaign Against Terrorism. by donogaga(op): 1:38pm On Nov 21, 2016
A 43-year-old trekker, Abubakar Duduwale, yesterday morning began his mission to trek from Nigeria, starting in Kaduna, to the United Kingdom. Abubakar, a Chamba by tribe who hails from Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, said he wished to raise awareness on terrorism and its effect on lives and properties of the people directly affected.
Quote“I mean to pass the message that terrorism is evil and must be stopped,” he said.

He explained that his journey which started yesterday from Kaduna around 8:00am would lead him to Niger State from where he would move to Abuja and then to the United Kingdom.
Duduwale is a veteran trekker who, in a recent notable instance, trekked last year from Yola to Abuja to drum support for Muhammadu Buhari who, as president-elect, was waiting to be sworn in.

He said of his mission, Quote “I have trekked round the 19 northern states of Nigeria promulgating the gospel of peace and war against terrorism, insurgency, corruption, drug abuse as well as promoting unity. I started trekking in 2008 when I decided not to sleep in Adamawa State that particular day and I moved from my village to the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. My trekking is not for fun but for world peace. We must shun all negative tendencies.”

Jobs/Vacancies10 Mistakes Candidates Are Making During Recruitment Process. by donogaga(op): 8:53am On Nov 19, 2016
As a recruiter, my goal is to find the right candidate for our jobs, but as well to make sure the job actually fits with our candidates needs.

With a few years of experience now and probably thousands of interviews, I spot a few current mistakes that really put off recruiters. Feel free to add to this list or to comment.

1) The candidate is actually not reachable:
This is the typical answer ; " you can call me anytime after 8.00 pm or during week-end". Well, we do understand that you might have a job, however when we really want something, we make ourselves available, can't we? As a candidate I remember taking calls on emergency stairs, or finding any excuses. Remember that while you are not making yourself available, other candidates are in the process.

2) Not understanding the scheduled time for the interview, cancelling last minute, coming late etc...
In an international recruitment process, your recruiter might be in another country, time zone. Always double check you are both on the same time zone.

3) The candidate does not understand the position he is applying for:
Typical answer ; "Well, I was waiting for you to give me more information". That is fine,  we are here to answer to your questions, however maybe it could be a good idea to know what job you might be doing here.

4) The candidate reads us the description of the company he found online, with no understanding:
Great, so now I know you are able to find a description on the internet. What we want to know is why you chose to apply to this company, why you think it is a great company for you.

5) Low level of energy, no passion:
Again maybe it is a bad day for you, maybe you have been to 10 other interviews today (really?), or maybe you are currently trying a new trash diet. However if we have to chose between someone able to share lot of energy and smiles, and someone who seems already bored to be here... Well...

6) Being over critical concerning your current/ past employer:
It is never a really good sign if talking about your current job, all you can say is how bad it is and how unfair the management is. Tip: focus on what you have learned and what you want next.

7) Being too personal:
As cool and sometimes informal an interview can be, no, it is not the right place to mention how drunk you were last night, or what is happening with your partner.

cool Lying:
Typical "Yes, I do speak French, it is just that I did not prepare this interview in French".

9) Having no questions:
How do you know if you want to work here? How do you know if this position is for you? Make sure you know what is important for you in your next job and that we actually provide it.

10) Being aggressive and defensive when we have the salary talk:
We do have budget for our open positions, so most of the time your current salary or your expectations will have no impact on the job offer. What we want to know here is if we can match.

Bonus: Spamming your recruiter for an answer. We know, it is long, it is stressful but it will not help to spam us.

Any mistake you may make during interviews, just remember that we already like you "on paper" otherwise you would not be here, so just show us that you really want this job and that it makes sense for your career.

PoliticsObasanjo Shocks Nigerians, Says 'I Did Not Tear My PDP Membership Card' by donogaga(op): 4:15pm On Nov 12, 2016
PARIS, NOVEMBER 12, 2016: (DGW) FRESH  facts have , indeed , emerged  on the alleged tearing of the Peoples' Democratic Party membership card by  former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Our source who spoke recently to the aide of the former President of Nigeria in Abuja, Nigeria said  Chief Olusegun Obasanjo did not openly tear his PDP membership card as widely reported by the Nigerian press.

Recall sometime in 2015, the ex-president while speaking at the Global Education and Skills Forum, (GESF) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate, said he did not tear his PDP membership card adding that he is not aware, maybe somebody else did it if the story that made the rounds then was anything to go by.

According to the former President, '' “I didn’t openly tear my PDP membership card; somebody else tore it because I said to him, ‘Here is the card, do whatever you like with it.

“If you like keep it; if you like tear it, if you like burn it. Here it is because they say it is giving them concern and they don’t know what is happening.

''I did that to prove to them what is happening; I could not have torn the party's membership card.”

This is in wake of the alleged threats made by Nigeria's literary giant , Prof Wole's Soyinka to tear his American Green Card if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election.

Obasanjo's aide faulted the threat adding that it amounts to a criminal offence which is not only actionable but also punishable that is capable of earning Soyinka a custodial sentence if the threat is by any act of omission or commission carried out.

Speaking further, our source produced a photograph of the former president where he publicly displayed his PDP membership card saying that Obasanjo though no longer an active member of the former ruling party did not tear the party's property knowing full well what it would amount to.

On the contrary, pictorial evidence in the photograph below shows where what looks like the card in contention was actually torn. What is being called in question here, however,  is if the damaged property belongs to the former President.
