PoliticsRep To US Ambassador: I Couldn’t Even Hav Sex So Why Would I Seek A Prostitute? by donogaga(op): 10:25pm On Jun 21, 2016
Samuel Ikon, one of the three lawmakers named in an alleged sex scandal in the US, has written to the country’s ambassador in Nigeria to defend himself, maintaining that he was not in good health to have sought the company of a prostitute.

James F. Entwistle, the US ambassador to Nigeria, had written to Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, alleging that Ikon (Akwa Ibom), Mohammed Gololo (Bauchi) and Mark Gbillah (Benue) allegedly sought illicit sex while attending the Leadership Visitor Program in the US in April.

He said Gololo grabbed a housekeeper in his hotel room and solicited her for sex, while the others asked a park attendant to help procure the services of prostitutes.

But Ikon, who represents the Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium constituency, said he almost did not make it to the US because he had malaria and typhoid.

He also said he was treating high levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) and could not have sex even if he wanted to.

Ikon promised to make the evidence available, and also wondered why the US government did not give him fair hearing before concluding that he was involved in the alleged scandal.

THE FULL TEXT OF HIS LETTER

James F. Entwistle

Ambassador of United State of America

Abuja, Nigeria.

Sir,

It is with a deep sense of sadness and great hurt that I write to respond to a letter dated June 9, 2016 addressed to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, copied to me and signed by you, alleging that I, Hon. Samuel Ikon, with Hon. Mark Gbillah requested hotel parking attendants assist us solicit prostitutes.

Let me state unequivocally sir that this allegation is not just false, but in bad taste. I Hon. Samuel Ikon never on that trip, nor on any trip to the US or anywhere in this world, ever sought to consort with prostitutes. This act would not only be inimical to my health, but totally unacceptable to my faith.

May I draw your attention Mr. Ambassador to the fact that I almost did not make that trip due to my state of health, a situation that was well known to your mission accompanying staff Mrs. Victoria Ibi. Even at the airport before our departure, I still was not sure but travelled due to the deep respect and appreciation I had at the time for the US government nominating me for the program on one hand, and the fact that I carried necessary medication for the Malaria and Typhoid that I was diagnosed of.

Mr. Ambassador, I was miserable throughout our stay in Washington DC and only got a bit stable in Cleveland when the medication began to kick in. Secondly, I was at the same time on medication to reduce my PSA level which tests in February this year had indicated a disturbing increase thus the issue of sex was totally ruled out for me in view of my health (laboratory results available if needed). I therefore find it funny and unacceptable to be so linked as in your letter.

I have another proof of my innocence which wiII completely tear down this false conclusion but will leave it out for a later time should you fail to redeem my integrity and I am forced to take legal action.

I wish to categorically state that at no time did I either alone, or in the company of Hon. Mark Gbillah a gentlemen with impeccable moral standing, approach any parking lot staff or any hotel staff for that matter to assist me solicit for prostitutes. It never happened nor was ever intended or thought of.

I have been in the legislature in the past nine (9) years and has attended over 30 conferences, seminars and meetings in about 20 countries globally and has never sought for a prostitute in any of these countries including the USA. I was in New York for a UN hearing on Narcotics in February for 4 days and never sought for a prostitute. My impeccable record of accomplishment is there to be seen. I have done programs in Harvard and Stanford Universities in the US and completed them successful without an incident or request for prostitutes.

I am an Elder in my Church since 2006 and clearly knows the tenets and doctrines of my faith one of which abhors such desires for prostitutes as such very offensive to be so linked.

His Excellency sir, let me inform you that I am happily married to a woman who is a mother, friend and confidant to me for twenty (20) years now and I have no reason to seek comfort in the bosom of a prostitute with all the attendant health risks especially the latest known as Zika Virus which has entered the USA.

Mr Ambassador, I therefore find this false allegation condemnable, repugnant and totally unacceptable to me.

Most distressing is the statement in your letter that your mission took pains to confirm this allegation and my identity. How sad. How can you confirm it to be my identity when I never had such an encounter with any hotel staff.

Moreover, how did you come to such conclusion without any fair hearing as you never sought my own view or account. Not driving a car myself, what would I be doing at the parking lot area, to then meet a staff there for such discussions?

May I draw your Excellency’s attention to how he would feel or react if after a meeting, say in the state department in Washington DC, he returns to Abuja only to receive a letter two months later that he sought to consort with prostitutes whilst in DC, an allegation His Excellency knows is false because he never did such . That’s exactly how I feel now.

(I) I never sought anyone’s help to get prostitutes .

(2) I never had need for prostitutes.

(3) My health situation especially at the time could not have allowed such desires.

(4) My faith abhors such desires.

(5) I have never desired a prostitute .

I wish to draw your attention to the fact that it was myself and Hon. Mark Gbillah that sought to travel with our wives but your mission advised against it yet my reason for wanting to travel with my wife was because of my health condition at the time of the trip.

His Excellency sir, kindly note that I attended every session of the program from day 1 to the last, missing only a lunch date due to my medication time.

Worthy to note is the fact that there was a basketball match that period and the hotel had a lot of guests as such this may be a case of mistaken identity. I couldn’t even attend the game due to my state of health as my body couldn’t stand the chill weather for long.

I therefore urge that you review this case within 7 days taking a more detailed look at the evidences available for such like video recordings especially audio showing time and date of such discussions. So you can realize that a mistake has been made here and my integrity restored, else I will be seeking legal redress in competent courts of law both in Nigeria and in the US.

I am olive and not dead. I am sane and capable of knowing what I did, said and who I met. As such cannot accept this false allegation by your mission on my person and reputation built over the years.

Mr. Ambassador sir, United States is held in high esteem for its providing platforms for liberties and the rule of law. It’s my hope that these beliefs will not fade in my sight due to this great injustice.

On the issue of revocation of Visas, I wish to state that until my name is cleared and apologies tendered , I have no intention to visit a country where I can be so easily accused and adjudged so, without any fair hearing as such you need not worry.

Your Excellency, I am confident that you will take steps to address my response to your letter as it will be most unfair to taint my reputation, carrier and psych by o false and untrue allegation.

It is sad that this false allegation has gone to the press and now in the public domain further tarnishing my image and reputation. I hope you will address this aspect properly when the issue is fully resolved.

While awaiting your action in this regard, be assured of my highest regards.

Yours faithfully,

Rt. Hon. Samuel Ikon.

Pussyfication

Remember back in the days, when we used to hear about “bottom power”; how some women screwed their way up to reckoning as either a girlfriend or someone’s kept mistress. These days stories like that may have diminished a bit due to the harsh reality of our economy. Jungle don mature, men no dey so drop for women again like before. Many men are all in hiding, running away from women, especially those carrying shopping list, invoice booklet or those who come as extra baggage with multiple choice problems. OMG Kai!!!!!

Men are wiser these days I hope, I see some of them running away and toning down their womanizing tinz because e get as e be o. Especially married men. Even the bachelors are looking for sugar mummies who can take care of them and their bills.

Men are on the run these days because financially, ground no level again at all. Short time hotels are even witnessing a melt-down because it no longer makes financial sense.

When some of us remember things like school fees, house rent, cost of living, permanent state of broke-ass-ness, all our numerous obligations (not that we stole money or defrauded anybody) You need to ask yourself where the extra is going to come from to pay for your pussyficating all over town, when you can do better things with your hard earned money.

So my guy, park well before I ticket you.

Some women are so fly with pushing your mumu button, that before you know it, you’re engaging in pay as you go. Since they are giving you sex, their ultimate weapon of mumurizing you, they figure you must carry some of their baggage too. Hummmmm!!! for where!!!!!!!

While some men don’t even seem to mind the pay as you go thing because for them, it is a fair exchange of sort: but most of these kinda women also have more than one man, they also juggle around their hustle so as to maximize their sagging value.

A lot of women in Abuja today are nothing but runs women, they come in different classes and grades.

If you’re a married man with huge responsibilities, then it’s up to you to prioritise your parol. In this day and age, with all the uncertainties hanging over mortal Nigerians like us, ‘be careful’ had better be our middle name.

For many of us, there is Fire on the mountain, pepper no dey rest for our hands like before. Most of us don enter injury time, some of us dey wilderness dey try sort out how to maneuver ourselves comot.

Don’t let all the sweetness or niceness suck you in, as a lot of these women know how to play the sweet and the nice just to get you.

Pure water, I have always said, is cheaper than sex, so why the bloody heck are you paying so much for it? Are you a learner? Come ooooon, gangster up your game.

You must always remember that your real love one’s need all the attention and finance because money is hard to come by for now, hol your side well before something do you.

I don talk my own.

Romance5 Traits Of An Emotionally Mature Person by donogaga(op): 7:15am On Jun 20, 2016
Emotional Maturity Is Something Few People Have. Here Are 5 of the Most Common Signs.

I have lived a great deal among grown-ups. I have seen them intimately, close at hand. And that hasn’t much improved my opinion of them.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Emotional maturity is a difficult thing to measure. We can’t quantify it, or even describe exactly what it is. But we know it when we see it. Many would say a person’s emotional maturity lies in their reactions to adversity and pain. Yet success and pleasure also serve to reveal a person’s ability to cope with their own emotions. We can observe how some rich people are charitable and helpful, while others are covetous and greedy. Similarly we see how some poor people are optimistic and hard-working, while others are self-defeating and without hope. People’s responses to circumstances vary greatly, just as emotional maturity varies.

Below are Five signs of an emotionally mature person.

1) Ability to Love

Opening ourselves up to love, whether it be romantic, platonic, or familial, is an act of bravery. Making oneself vulnerable to both rejection and reciprocation is a sure sign of maturity. Young children can love without maturity because they have yet to be hurt or rejected. Hence why teenagers often close themselves to love — out of fear of loss or rejection. Once most people reach a mature age, they will have been hurt countless times.

Only an emotionally mature adult will be able to accept these rejections and pains as realities, and continue to open up and invite in intimacy and love to their lives. Most people are not so mature, and thus become jaded and cynical. They see love and intimacy of all kinds as childish and naive. But I would argue that closing oneself to love is the childish action. It’s the easy way out. It requires no bravery, no vulnerability, and no emotional maturity.

2) Willingness to Set Boundaries

It’s not easy to set boundaries. To do so we must speak out in times where it’s more comfortable to stick to the status quo. Life often presents situations where we can either let our integrity be eroded, or assert our own standards and boundaries. Choosing to set boundaries may lose us friends, or affection, but it will grant us immense self-respect. It prevents problems from developing into something much more damaging down the line.

But emotionally immature people aren’t comfortable setting boundaries. Rather than nipping interpersonal problems in the bud, they let them develop into full-on disasters and heart-breaks. They often get sucked into cycles of abuse or mistreatment. You’ll be able to spot an emotionally mature person by the quality and integrity of their relationships. There will be little if any unspoken tension or aggression. All that needs to be said, will be said. Even if it costs the relationship. An emotionally mature person operates under the belief that if a relationship violates their personal integrity, it’s not worth having.

3) Open-Mindedness

In modern times, nearly everyone claims to be open-minded. It’s become an attractive label, and a compliment. But it’s a trait few people actually possess. Because real open-mindedness comes down to one thing: the willingness to accept that you’re wrong. Many who claim to have an open mind really only haveopen ears. They’re happy to listen to new and challenging ideas and view points, but they internally reject all of them. They have barriers inside that stop new perspectives from actually effecting their notions about the world. These people will smile and nod as you share with them or challenge them, but their eyes will be blank and emotionally unresponsive.

Emotionally mature people know themselves and their own values well enough to allow new ideas in, without accepting or rejecting them blindly. They are masters of their own minds. Challenging ideas are invited in, but many are promptly escorted out. Only the select few are incorporated as new belief systems.

4) Diverse Taste

Emotionally mature people don’t feel the need to label things as “high brow” or “low brow”. They are able to accept and enjoy art from both the ancient masters, and amateur peers. This does not mean they don’t differentiate the good from the bad. They simply don’t allow things like the identity of the artist, the medium, the genre, or the time of creation to make this distinction for them.

This sort of person will love classical as well as Hip hop, and burgers along with caviar. An emotionally mature person doesn’t base their identity off the things they consume and admire. They choose the things they consume based on their indignity. This requires conscious self-awareness and acceptance. Most people are too reactive and emotionally unstable to actually know their value system, and thus choose an aesthetic and reject everything that isn’t an obvious fit.

5) Tenacious Curiosity

An emotionally mature person isn’t concerned with the opinions of negative people. Thus they constantly ask questions, without concern for looking stupid, or appearing ignorant. They seek to learn, and reject any person or influence that would hinder them in that goal. They aren’t afraid of learning things that shake up pre-existing beliefs. In fact, they enjoy that feeling. New information isn’t a threat, it’s a promise of enlightening epiphanies. Because they know who they are, but also know they’re never a complete and perfect whole. Expansion and progression excites them. Stagnation is the only fear that controls their actions. Because being the master of one’s emotions means wanting to grow.

RomanceThe Condom Of The Future Is Finally Here. by donogaga(op): 2:22pm On Jun 18, 2016
You're having sex. Then your partner locks eyes on yours, and says those three magic words that stop time. "The condom broke."

For many, a broken condom means the difference between a grade-A session of Netflix and Chill and a nightmare evening that turns into an anxious waiting game.

Now Swedish intimacy company LELO is getting into the condom manufacturing business to prevent uncomfortable and unsafe situations like this from happening again. The 20-year-old company, dubbed the "Apple of the pleasure products industry," has reinvented the rubber.

From across the room, the HEX condom looks pretty ordinary - an eggshell-colored piece of latex that unrolls into a phallic shape. But up close, it becomes apparent where the name comes from. A faint, hexagonal patterned honeycomb lattice is etched into the material.

This eye-catching design is part of a condom that is stronger, less likely to tear, and potentially more comfortable than a traditional condom.

For nearly 100 years, the condom - one of the most effective methods of protecting against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections - has been in desperate need of a makeover. While computers grew small enough to fit in our pockets and cars learned to drive, the latex condom has remained more or less unchanged since it was invented in the 1920s.

That's a problem, because the rubber as we know it is an incredibly flawed medical device. It slips, it breaks, and it reduces sensitivity for male wearers.

Sitting in a conference room in San Francisco, founder Filip Sedic thrusts his hand inside the condom and fans his fingers. The latex clings and thins around the edges of his fingernails, but does not break. Sedic grabs a pen from the table and tries to puncture it again.

"People say, 'I don't use it because it might break.' Give me a break," Sedic says, shaking his head. "But people will still use that as an excuse. We have to make sure to eliminate all of these excuses."

There's a correlation between disliking condoms and leaving them in the nightstand.

A study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior in 2007 surveyed a hundred college students about their sex lives over three months, and discovered men and women who rated unprotected sex as more pleasurable were less likely to use condoms.

More Americans are throwing the "no glove, no love" rule out the window. In the largest-ever nationwide study on sexuality in 2010, 45% of men and 63% of women reported not using a condom in their most recent sexual encounter with a "new acquaintance," according to Indiana University. Such negligence can invite a host of complications, including disease.

Eight years ago, Sedic, an engineer by training, set out to do something radical: make a condom that men would actually want to use. Or at the very least, tolerate.

"It is kind of a shame that in 2016, we are still using a product that is more or less identical to what it was a hundred years ago," Sedic says. "I believe that with today's technology, we can do much better."

Sedic and his team tried experimenting with new materials, includingpolyurethane, an incredibly strong polymer found in everything from wall insulation to sneaker soles. But in order to bring a new condom to market in the US, the FDA requires that it performs as well as latex. The approval process can take decades.

The team sidestepped these logistical challenges by sticking with latex and focusing on changing the structure on the condom instead.

"In the beginning, it kind of felt impossible because the condom is a pretty simple product by construction," Sedic says. "But then suddenly, we had a breakthrough in thinking. The beauty of this idea is that it's so simple."

For decades, rubbers have been made by dipping a penis-shaped mold into a vat of liquid latex and peeling the material off when it dries. LELO reengineered the mold so it's engraved with a honeycomb pattern. The manufacturer dunks the mold once into the plasticky mixture to fill the impressions, and twice to cover the rest of the mold. When it's rolled off, the condom will appear darker (and actually, thicker) where the pattern was.

Sedic explains that when pressure is applied to the condom, it stretches in six directions from any point. This flexibility makes it more forgiving of tension. If you poke a hole in it, the damage stays contained in the single cell. It doesn't shatter like traditional condoms.

Designers placed the hexagonal design on the inside, drawing inspiration from non-slip tires, to prevent slippage. The condom is just 0.055 millimeters thick, making it comparable in width to the Durex Extra Sensitive and the Trojan Ultra Thin Lubricated condoms.

I asked Sedic if this design made the HEX more effective against preventing pregnancy and STIs when breakage occurs, but he only offered anecdotal evidence to suggest it was.

Still, men won't wear condoms if they expect them to be uncomfortable. The HEX aims to solve that issue as well.

Today, you browse the condom aisle of a drug store and find dozens of arbitrarily named variations that promise a "barely there," "double ecstasy" feel for "extended premium" erections. It's impossible to choose.

"Even if I had the money to buy all three [variations] and put them on top each other, I don't think I'm going to achieve what I want," Sedic jokes. "Why not make one thing ... so you don't need to make these choices? Why should I make these choices?"

Sedic calls the HEX the condom that can do it all.

The packaging consists of a plain white box with black lettering, in a postmodern style that's very Apple. Though its dimensions are a giveaway of what's inside, the HEX is a product I would hold confidently in line at CVS.

Such luxury does not come cheap. A pre-order on crowdfunding website Indiegogo prices the condoms at $9.90 for a 3-pack, $19.90 for a 12-pack, and $34.90 for a 36-pack. They're alsoavailable online and later, in drug stores and pleasure product retailers.

For comparison, a 36-count box of Trojan Ultra Thin condoms runs $13 onAmazon.

The manufacturing process for the HEX makes it 2.5 times more costly than traditional condoms to produce, but Sedic credits the condom's price tag to exclusivity, not operations.

"We believe that the biggest problem with condoms is, people don't want to use them. So, we need to make them want to use them," Sedic says, before breaking into a massive smile. "Usually, if something looks cool and is high-priced, people want to take it [sic]."

He doesn't count Trojan and Durex, the two best-selling condom brands on Amazon, as LELO's competitors. Instead, Sedic hopes the company's innovation will inspire others to continue improving the condom.

"It's not a matter of taste, yeah?" Sedric says. "It's a matter of life and death - of protecting yourself or not."

Romance4 Reasons It’s OK To Be The First To Apologize by donogaga(op): 11:42pm On Jun 16, 2016
Anytime someone mentions their name your heart feels heavy.
How did things ever get this way? Did you ever think you would go this long without talking to your best friend? Has it really been ten years since you last talked to your dad?
While you should never apologize to someone as a matter of habit or convenience, when you realize that you’ve genuinely made a mistake it’s time to reach out. Being the first to offer an apology shows that you value the relationship above your ego.

Pick up the phone, send that sms/email and remember these four reasons it’s OK to be the first to apologize:

1. You realize you were wrong.
Researchers found that there are two main types of regret: regret for actions and regret for inactions. Those studied felt sorry for their actions such as speaking about someone behind their back. Regret for inaction occurred when the person didn’t take a step they knew they should have--like not being there for a friend when they were really needed.
When you hurt someone, however unintentionally, remorse and regret follow. Don’t become paralyzed by your regret. Never hold back from offering an apology you know you should give. You assume the other person would never want to speak to you again, but what if your apology sets you both free?

2. Apologizing first helps you avoid becoming passive aggressive.
Allow yourself to be guided by sincerity and reflection. Apologizing first after a disagreement enables you to live assertively and act from your strength. Too often when we make mistakes, or a fight occurs, we suppress the anger and guilt and allow them to fester. These twin thieves of our peace create a slowly erupting volcano of discomfort within.
We find ourselves making passive aggressive comments, acting frustrated and annoyed as a way to release the mounting pressure. Turn the passive aggressive behavior into direct action--it’s long overdue.

3. Your history together will make it easier to reconcile.
Tempers were lost and you each said things you regret. Or maybe the fight was about something much deeper that isn’t easily fixed. You are both frustrated and hurt as you retreat to your corners to lick your wounds. Staying angry and holding the grudge is short sighted. In fact, a study found the deeper the history of connection and closeness between two people, the easier it is for a reconciliation to occur.

4. You will maintain your “giraffe vision”.
Roaming through the savannas of Africa, giraffes are found eating from the tops of the majestic Acacia trees. The giraffe lives its life with an expansive view of its surrounding world. As you work to build a life of which you are proud, maintain your own giraffe vision and see the bigger picture--keep this disagreement in its proper perspective.

Being the first to apologize keeps your energy devoted to your own growth and development, not to the drain of petty feuds. Choose to live every day guided by your deepest sense of your best self and use that power to go ahead and clear the air!

RomanceAvoid These 6 Types Of Toxic People by donogaga(op): 11:25pm On Jun 16, 2016
Some people can make you sick.

There are many different types of people that you will encounter throughout your lifetime. While no two individuals are exactly the same, there are certain people with similar qualities that you can recognize as red flags for toxicity. The negativity these people internalize and exude pushes them to gravitate toward those who are happy and successful in attempts to disrupt their progress and success.

It is important to recognize these six types of toxic people to ensure that they don't rain on your parade.

1. The Hater.
These people are simply incapable or unwilling to be happy for anyone else. They battle with an internal insecurity that blinds their ability to genuinely root for other people.

2. The Naysayer.
These people are natural pessimists. Despite what it looks like, they believe nothing is ever good enough, right, positive or promising.

3. The Needy Person.
These people are always in need of something –– always. It can certainly suck the life out of you in the process, but they don’t mind as long as they benefit in the end.

4. The Talkative Person.
These people talk about others and will surely talk about you just the same. Be wary of those who always have something to say about everything and everybody.

5. The Self-Pity Person.
These people take the self-pity pill on a regular basis. Those always playing the role of the victim will never be able to truly find peace and, consequently, can’t offer it either.

6. The Insensitive Person.
These people cannot feel compassion or sympathy for anyone but themselves. The only time something impacts them is when it is about just that –– themselves.

If any of these descriptions struck a familiar chord, the offenders' faces or names might have quickly flooded your mind. Take note of what came to mind as you were reading, and think about the best next step to take to show kindness while protecting yourself. Both energy and habits are contagious, so always be conscious of those you surround yourself with to ensure you continue to spread light and not be held down by darkness.

RomanceHow Do I Stop Sleeping With My Ex-boyfriend?' by donogaga(op): 6:30am On Jun 08, 2016
What steps would you take to stop yourself from being sexually attracted to your ex while you are set to be married to another person.

My name is Folu and I am a 28-year-old lady who is set to wed in the next three months. But I must say that I am in a big trouble at the moment because I can't seem to stop having sex with my ex-boyfriend, Steve, even though I am engaged to be married to Joey, one of the best men I have ever come across.

I dated Steve for six years but we both knew the relationship would lead to no where because Steve is the kind of man ho does not take anything serious. He is not cut out for any serious relationship and marriage is far from his mind.

He is the kind of man one can describe as a lady's man and ladies throw themselves at him at will and he sees nothing wrong in keeping five women at the same time. But one thing is that I am addicted to sex with Steve and I can't seem to help myself where sex is concerned with him.

In fact, the only thing that keeps me binding to him is the great sex we have anytime we are together. It is not as if Joey is not good in bed but Steve is in a class of his own and even though we have had our introduction and the date for our marriage has been set, I still find myself sneaking around to have sex with Steve.

I fear this will continue when I eventually get married to Joey. I want to stop but can't help myself.

What can I do?

Folu."

Dear readers, what do you think Folu should do to free herself from Steve?

Christianity EtcWhat Is Ramadan And Why Do Muslims Fast All Day? by donogaga(op): 3:56pm On Jun 06, 2016
Millions of Muslims around the world on Monday marked the start of Ramadan, a month of intense prayer, dawn-to-dusk
fasting and nightly feasts. Others will begin fasting a day
later, Tuesday, due to a moon-sighting methodology that
can lead to different countries declaring the start of
Ramadan a day or two apart.

Here are some questions and answers about Islam's
holiest month:

WHY DO MUSLIMS FAST?
The fast is intended to bring the faithful closer to God
and to remind them of the suffering of those less
fortunate. Ramadan is a time to detach from worldly
pleasures and focus on one's inner self.
It's seen as a way to physically and spiritually purify,
refraining from habits such as smoking and caffeine.
Muslims often donate to charities during the month and
feed the hungry. Many spend more time at mosques
during Ramadan and use their downtime to recite the
Quran.

London's new Muslim mayor, Sadiq Khan, wrote in the
Guardian that he plans to use Ramadan to "build
bridges" and break bread with Muslims and non-
Muslims around the city at synagogues, churches and
mosques, though he acknowledged that 19-hour-long
fasts during the longer summer days in Europe and
forgoing coffee will be challenging.

Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of
Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith, daily
prayer, charity, and performing the hajj pilgrimage in
Mecca.

HOW DO MUSLIMS FAST?
Observant Muslims abstain from eating and drinking
from dawn to dusk for the entire month of Ramadan. A
single sip of water or a puff of a cigarette is enough to
invalidate the fast.

However, Muslim scholars say it's not enough to just
avoid food and drinks during the day. Ramadan is also
an exercise in self-restraint. Muslims are encouraged to
avoid gossip and arguments. Sexual intercourse
between spouses is also forbidden during the daytime
fast.

Just before the fast, Muslims have a pre-dawn meal of
power foods to get them through the day, the "suhoor."
Egyptians eat mashed fava beans called "ful," spiced
with cumin and olive oil, while in Lebanon and Syria,
popular suhoor food is flatbread with thyme, cheese or
yogurt. In Afghanistan, people eat dates and dumplings
stuffed with potato and leeks, first steamed, then fried.

HOW DO MUSLIMS BREAK THEIR FAST?
Muslims traditionally break their fast like the Prophet
Muhammad did some 1,400 years ago, with a sip of
water and some dates at sunset. That first sip of water
is the most anticipated moment of the day.

Robbers enter a house, asks for all the money and valuables.
After they collect what they can, they give the man of the house a gun with instructions to shoot his wife or else he be shot himself. The man gets the gun, points it at his wife and hesitates. He is thinking of what he has gone through in life with his wife and how she has suffered and sacrificed for him.
He hands back the gun and says, “I am sorry I can’t do this…

“The boss of the robbers silently grabs the gun from him and passes it on to the wife with the same instruction.
The wife gets the gun and without any single hesitation points to her husband’s head and pulls the trigger. But at last, the gun had no bullets in it.
The robbers get their gun and walk out of the house laughing.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION
1. If you were the man in that house how would you react towards your wife?

2. If you were the wife, what explanation can you give to your
husband!

3. If you were invited to bring peace between this couples, what advice would you give?

Foreign AffairsJournalist And Mafia Expert Says Britain Is The World’s Most Corrupt Nation by donogaga(op): 7:31am On May 31, 2016
A journalist who has spent over a decade documenting the criminal dealings of the mafia has named Britain the most corrupt country in the world. 36-year-old Roberto Saviano who wrote the best-selling exposés Gomorrah and ZeroZeroZero, made the comments at the Hay Literary Festival.

He has been living under police protection since publishing revelations about members of the Camorra, a powerful Neapolitan branch of the mafia, in 2006.

He said: “If I asked you what is the most corrupt place on Earth you might tell me well it’s Afghanistan, maybe Greece, Nigeria, the South of Italy and I will tell you it’s the UK.
“It’s not the bureaucracy, it’s not the police, it’s not the politics but what is corrupt is the financial capital. 90 per cent of the owners of capital in London have their headquarters offshore.
“Jersey and the Cayman’s are the access gates to criminal capital in Europe and the UK is the country that allows it. That is why it is important why it is so crucial for me to be here today and to talk to you because I want to tell you , this is about you, this is about your life, this is about your government.”

Mr Saviano also weighed in on the EU referendum debate, Britain will go to the polls next month to decide whether to leave the EU or remain and he makes a case for remaining.

He said: “Leaving the EU means allowing this to take place. It means allowing the Qatari societies, the Mexican cartels, the Russian Mafia to gain even more power and HSBC has paid £2 billion Euros in fines to the US government, because it confessed that it had laundered money coming from the cartels and the Iranian companies. We have proof, we have evidence.”

PoliticsMy Take/opinion On The Niger Delta Avengers Menace. by donogaga(op): 8:14pm On May 30, 2016
Is there any moral justification for renewed hostilities by the group called Niger Delta Avengers in a country that has spent more than N500 billion alone on the Niger Delta Amnesty programme in the last 6 years? In a country were over N621 billion was allocated to the Niger Delta Development Commission in 2014 and 2015 alone? This is definitely an anomaly.

Am entitled to my opinion and hence these:

1, Rumors have it that they ain't targeting oil facilities this time around.

2, They only blow up pipelines, Pipeline repairs is nothing. Let's pray they don't blow up any onshore facilities or an offshore platform. It's gonna be a disaster.

3, If they drop akara bomb for any onshore facilities ,...na war dem don start be that oh.

4, Too bad the Nigeria army are filled with rootless soldiers and those guys will be so happy to turn south south to desert. And it's very easy to curb this guys if they go overboard.

5, What the Niger Delta Avengers are doing is very bad, because you don't fight a war in your own backyard no matter your grievance. You can't be risking the lives of the people you claim to be fighting for.

6, Should they be foolish to cause harm to any expertriate, they will be in some shit.

7, I sincerely think this is not a fight for the course of the people of the region as they claim.

8, I keep hearing every day itsekiri people warning them not to even come close to their lands. Likewise the urhobos. Most part anyways.

9, They stated that they will be coming to NLNG.. Some weeks back.

10, What the government is doing now is currently fair.

11, You don't negotiate with militants who don't have the minds of their people in their quest.

12, The govt is trying to speak with the stakeholders in the region as well as looking for the Niger Delta Avengers.

13, If this administration repeat what the previous administration did,... Just know that we are in for shit.

14, You know the amnesty that was given before was not properly done. Alot of the guys were not affected so they were angry. Actually, The amnesty only made the Lords or generals millionaire and billionaire.

15, This government have a primary goal,.. Which is what they are working on.

16, This administration is trying very hard to fight corruption,... Which other administration didn't do for 16 years irrespective of the party.

17, I can't imagine some chiefs and elder statesmen advising Buhari to negotiate and grant them amnesty by reinstating the amnesty program.

18, Guys, I was in ughelli some months ago suddenly I heard siren and people were clearing from the express, lo and behold it was Tompolo in a convoy of about 12 Bentley all bullet proof painted black and red. It was crazy.

19, There's no basis for this renewed hostility, especially one borne out of outright mischief and of no relevance.

20, Nigerians must rise up against ethnic and clannish
sentiments and see this more as a national affront. Not also in a period where the price of crude is beginning to show promising signs and our production capacity is dropping due to the activities of the militants.

I would like to add that something is fundamentally wrong
somewhere with the Niger Delta region and its agitations.

PoliticsRe: Ex-militants To Return For Pipeline Protection – FG by donogaga(m): 7:08am On May 27, 2016
In a saner country this won't be happening, but because sentiment has blurred some Nigerians reasonings that's why militants were given that job when we have military men. PMB doesn't want to kill these touts because some people will call it killing of Niger delta people.

However, This is another example of the flip flopping of this government. After allowing so much to be destroyed as well as letting our armed forces be disgraced, they have now conceded to what was obvious and inevitable to every one except them. Only God will help us.

PoliticsNEITI Audit: Nigeria Made $58bn From Oil Sector In 2013, Lost $5.9bn, N20.4bn by donogaga(op): 4:29pm On May 23, 2016
Details from the 2013 audit and financial report of activities in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry which was conducted by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) have shown that Nigeria made $58.07 billion from her hydrocarbons industry in that year.

The report also showed that the country lost $5.966 billion and N20.4 billion in the sector from the operation of Offshore Processing Agreements (OPA) by state oil firm, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC); crude oil swap and theft.

The NEITI report which was presented to the public on Monday in Abuja by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, also showed that the sums of $3.8 billion and N358.3 billion are still outstanding payments which the NNPC and all of its subsidiaries owed the federation.

Also, the sum of $599.98 million was reported in the audit as underpayments to the federation from petroleum profit taxes and royalties by oil and gas companies as a result of the use of different pricing methodology by the government and the companies because of absence of a new fiscal regime.

More to follow.

AgricultureFederal College Of Agriculture, Ebonyi Begins Exportation Of Bagged Cassava by donogaga(op): 2:16pm On May 22, 2016
The Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, Ebonyi, says
it has began the exportation of processed bagged
cassava produced by the institution.

The Provost of the college, Prof. Justina Mgbada,
disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.

She noted that the institution was committed to
actualising the Federal Government’s agricultural
objectives.

Mgbada said the institution designated about 30
hectares of land for sustained cassava production to
meet the domestic and external processed cassava
needs of the country.

“We have expansive cassava processing unit in the
institution which has been given immense facelift since I
assumed office over a year ago,” she said.

She said that the cassava was being cultivated and
processed by students in line with the government’s
directive of practicalising agricultural tutorials offered
students.

“We have experts who handle the students in cassava
cultivation and processing as this applies to the
production of other crops and agricultural ventures.
“The institution’s mandate is basically to train middle
level manpower through high-skill acquisition in form of
theoretical and practical training.

“We have lecturers and instructors for agricultural
courses offered in the institution for theoretical and
practical training respectively.

“The courses’ curriculum is formulated to assign 40 per
cent of scores to theoretical aspect and 60 per cent for
practical, both in the class and the farm respectively.
“We also designated 12 hectares of land for increased
pineapple production and 27 hectares for oil palm while
expanding our fisheries, poultry, piggery and livestock
production-capabilities.

“We have also enhanced our capabilities in mini-livestock
production such as snail and rabbit among others,” she
said.

She said that the institution had enhanced its honey
production capacity and secured registration from the
National Agency for Food Drug Administration and
Control (NAFDAC) for its honey.

“We recently released N600, 000 for the procurement of
modern bakery equipment while also embarking on
renovation of the facility.

“The equipment would enable us bake at least three bags
of flour per day from the original half bag to meet the
demand of students and our immediate community, ”
she said.

Mgbada also said that the institution was training rice
farmers in Ebonyi as its contribution to the realisation of
the state government’s rice production objectives.
“We can assist the government in developing a template
and empower its ‘implementors’ through adequate
training to achieve overall objectives.

“We will create the necessary awareness needed to
achieve this as we are currently making arrangements to
procure and develop the most current variety of
seedlings being a research institute,” she said. (NAN).

PoliticsEx-militants Call For End To Niger Delta Pipeline Attacks by donogaga(op): 1:37pm On May 22, 2016
Former militants have called for a halt to a resurgence of
attacks on oil and gas facilities in Nigeria’s Niger Delta,
saying it is an unnecessary distraction for President
Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger
Delta (MEND), a group of former militants who previously
targeted the oil-rich region, made the call in a statement
late on Friday.

Buhari said on Friday he had heightened the military
presence in the region where attacks in the last few
weeks – mostly claimed by a group calling itself the
Niger Delta Avengers – have driven the country’s oil
output to a more than 20-year low.

“We should give President Buhari the opportunity to fulfil
his promises to the Niger Delta people by maintaining
peace in the region,” former MEND members said in the
statement.

“The current resurgence of militancy is an unnecessary
distraction to the current administration,” they said.
Nigeria, which relies on oil sales for 70 percent of
national income, is going through its worst economic
crisis in decades caused by low crude prices.

Former members of MEND, many of whom secured
lucrative contracts to protect pipelines under an amnesty
agreement, are influential, although whether this extends
to those responsible for the recent attacks is not clear.
