I congratulate America's choice, President-elect Donald J. Trump, and I also salute Hillary Clinton for conceding. Having taking this route myself, I know it takes great self sacrifice and shows her strength of character. I am very encouraged by Mr. Trump's words in his victory speech where he said "It is time for us to come together". This is true not only for America, it is also true for the world at large. Finally, I must say that the conduct of the American people during the election was most commendable, as they agreed to disagree and now they are agreeing to unite. They have my best wishes as they carry out this process and may God bless their efforts. GEJ. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1299373620113009&id=105479482835768 |
NOW THAT THE GREAT MOVEMENT HAS TRUMPED AN ACE, WILL DONALD FULFILL HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISES? The world wanted Hilary Clinton, the American people, I mean the real American people, wanted Donald Trump. In the end, the American people had their way. Donald Trump became the 45th President of the USA. Now that Donald trump has become the President, the following is a breakdown of the group of people may be at the receiving end in his first 100 days in office if he follows through his campaign promises: 1. Undocumented Immigrants Donald Trump has promised to deport “more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants” straight away. He has also threatened to cancel visas to any country that refuses to accept its people being returned. I hope the Nigerian government have started preparing the grounds to receive its own. I tell you many Nigerians will be affected! 2. ISIS and Terrorists Donald Trump said he would recruit NATO to invade strongholds in the Middle East to “knock the hell out of ISIS” and has regularly repeated his belief that Mrs Clinton’s actions as Secretary of State allowed the terror group to grow. Mr Trump originally promised a ban on Muslim immigration into the US in response to the San Bernadino terror attack in December 2015. But he later refined his stance and proposed a policy of “extreme vetting” to combat any future terrorism on his watch 3. Hilary Clinton During his campaign, President-elect Donald Trump accused Hilary Clinton of using a private email server instead of a government account while she was secretary of state between 2009 and 2013 and said she was being protected by a rigged system. He promised to persecute Hilary saying, "if I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation." Now that Trump's victory looks likely, these calls are almost certain to resurface. But could she actually go to jail for her emails? 4. Mexicans Crossing The Border Into The USA Illegally The Donald is still guaranteeing to “build a wall” on the US’s border with Mexico and to get its government to pay for it. His End Illegal Immigration Act would also impose an automatic two-year prison sentence on anyone illegally re-entering the US after a previous deportation. The Mexican peso went into near free-fall in chaotic trading as new of Trump’s success spread 5. China And Other 11 Nations Donald Trump promised to tear up trade deals, particularly the recently signed Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, which lowered tariffs with 11 other nations, including Australia and Canada. He said he would also “direct the Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator” 6. Beneficiaries of Obamacare Trump plans to get rid of Obamacare – the healthcare reform introduced by President Obama which has helped 11million more Americans to afford health insurance. Opponents of Obamacare say it is too expensive for the middle classes, who do not qualify for subsidies. But will Donald Trump follows through his campaign promises? Time will tell. One thing is sure though: some people will sleep with one eye closed in the first hundred days of Donald Trump. |
Trump Will Deport Illegal Ghanaian Immigrants - U.S. Ambassador To Ghana. Ghanaians who have overstayed their visas in the United States of America must be concerned because the new Trump administration will ask them to “depart”, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson has told Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson in an exclusive interview minutes after Mr Donald Trump emerged winner of the U.S. election on Wednesday, 9 November. “One thing that I do think that Ghanaians need to be aware of is, I think the president-elect, as I mentioned, is likely to be more rigid about illegal immigration. We have a lot of Ghanaians who have overstayed their visas in the U.S. and I think that they need to be concerned about whether they would be allowed to remain illegally. My guess is they will be given some options but the president will be serious about asking those who’ve violated their visa status to depart,” Mr Jackson said. Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson: So that means we would be expecting more Ghanaians to be potentially deported into the country from the U.S.? Ambassador Jackson: I think that’s already underway in the Obama administration. I think it’s likely to accelerate under a Trump administration, but apart from that I do not expect major changes in our policy and whatever government emerges here after the elections on December 7 will have a friend in the U.S. and I’m confident will be a friend of the U.S. Mr Jackson also said the Trump administration would not paint every African country with the same brush. “Ghana’s economy is growing, Nigeria’s is shrinking. We have a very different relationship with Ghana. Ghana is more supportive of free trade and shares a long history of peaceful existence which Nigeria does not have, so I think we need to be cautious,” he added. Just last week, the U.S. deported 108 Africans, 54 of them being Ghanaians. There were some 50 Liberians among the deportees as well. They refused to disembark from the plane that transported them to Accra describing as inhumane the treatment meted out to them by U.S. authorities. They claimed the U.S. officials were being hypocritical in their deportation as they were not treated with dignity while on board the plane en route to Accra. Some of them, who spoke to Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson in an interview at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra said although their deportation had nothing to do with criminal issues, they were handcuffed and treated as criminals by the U.S. authorities in Louisiana and even while on board the plane. According to them, when they reached the airport, the authorities attempted to take off the handcuffs to create the impression that they were treated with respect, an act they thought was hypocritical. One of the deportees said: “They (U.S. authorities) handcuffed us, they handcuffed us before we boarded the plane. That is why we say we are not getting down unless they allow us to get down with the handcuffs for everybody to see how they have been treating us. That is why we said no, we are not getting down… They called some immigration officers (at the airport) to come and talk to us but we said no we want to come down with the handcuffs on and so they said we should come down. They handcuffed us in the United States. My waist, hands and my legs were all cuffed. Both legs [were cuffed], so you cannot even walk, you cannot eat, you cannot do anything.” Another deportee narrated: “We have been handcuffed from Monday to today, a lot of people here (Kotoka Airport) today saw it. If you think I am lying, you can ask the people around. If you want to urinate you struggle in the handcuff before passing urine.” Another disgruntled deportee indicated: “We all left Ghana to America to go and better our future, so we passed through Brazil to Colombia and some of us even died on the way… Now the people handcuffed us, they only gave us bread and water from morning till evening, so when we came here (Kotoka) a lot of the people were fighting them that: ‘You cannot deport us empty-handed; we need money to go home [with].’” Source: Classfmonline https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1199302053446896&substory_index=0&id=182243201819458

Popular Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji is also known for her search for a man and in an interview with ThePoint, she stated she gets a lot of proposals from men and the belief people have of successful women scaring men is a big lie. The 36-year-old, who recently launched a number of media outfits, went on to describe her ideal man. ‘I get a lot of proposals. People always say when you are successful, men run away. But for me, it’s a big lie; that is when they chase you more.’ She added that, ‘Unfortunately, I have not seen what i am looking for. I tell people that men are not scarce, but the types some of us are looking for are scarce. If I want to marry next year, I can. I want a man I can look up to, I want somebody that can inspire me. I want somebody who have had a kind of success in his own field, because I want to learn from him. I am inspired by successful people.’ In addition to her ideal man being a success in his own field and an inspiration, she said, ‘He must be successful, he must be a good man and he must be sexually active.’ http://thenet.ng/2016/11/i-want-a-good-man-and-he-must-be-sexually-active-linda-ikeji/

Huawei launches ‘most powerful smartphone in the world’ to take on Apple and Samsung. Huawei has launched the Mate 9, a high-spec, high-price smartphone which could see the China-based company square up to market leaders Apple and Samsung. The latest device in Huawei's Mate series boasts a 5.9 inch full HD screen, inviting comparison with Apple' s iPhone 7 Plus and the now discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The manufacturer is making a big play on the handset's processing power, which Huawei said made it the "most powerful smartphone in the world." According to Huawei's testing, software in the Mate 9 performed 80 percent better than major competitors after one year of use. However, Neil Mawston, executive director at Strategy Analytics, was not overly impressed by these claims, describing the product as merely "another big screen smartphone." But, Mawston, speaking to CNBC on the phone, did concede that the Mate 9 was a "nice incremental improvement" and that the release did a good job of "filling the Note 7 gap, at a lower price point than Apple." Ben Wood, mobile industry analyst at CCS Insight, viewed the launch more positively, telling CNBC via telephone that it "shows just how ambitious Huawei are," and "reiterates (his organization's) belief that Huawei is emerging as a force to be recognized in the smartphone market." The Mate 9's other key features include an 8 megapixel camera, 64GB memory and 4 microphones that in combination enable directional sound recording. Unlike the Apple's iPhone 7, the Mate 9 has a headphone jack. Huawei did not disclose where the device's battery was manufactured; thereby not ruling out that this could be the same as that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which is now notorious for overheating. But, Huawei did stress that the Mate 9's battery had been tested in house, by the manufacturer of the component and in independent research labs. Whilst the Mate 9's release has been lucky in terms of its timing, the smartphone is likely to face stiff competition in a very competitive market space. Mawston told CNBC that "any differentiation from Huawei won't last long." Wood said that Apple and Samsung were unlikely to be worried by the release, but that the "Mate 9 just boosts Huawei's profile" in a "sea of smartphone sameness." Ultimately, Wood said that the launch's success "comes down to price." With regards to the Mate 9's reception in regional markets, Mawston said that "Huawei is coming under intense pressure at home in China as (lower end manufacturers) OPPO and Vivo offer similar phones at better price points. The Mate 9 will help alleviate some of that pressure." According to figures from the International Data Corporation released last week, both OPPO and Vivo saw their market share growth move into triple digits in the third quarter of this year, in comparison to the same period in 2015. But, Mawston added that the Mate 9 was more likely to boost the company's position in Europe and India where Samsung has left a space in the market. Huawei say that the Mate 9 is a "high end performance device aimed at professional users" and also serves as a "productivity tool." But, smartphone development is arguably reaching a plateau. "We're in a mature phase of the smartphone market, now only incremental changes are being made," Mawston said. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/03/huawei-launches-most-powerful-smartphone-in-the-world-to-take-on-apple-and-samsung.html?__source=yahoo%7Cfinance%7Cheadline%7Cheadline%7Cstory&par=yahoo&doc=104068180&yptr=yahoo

The Amalgamated Union of National Cattle and Foodstuff Dealers Association of Nigeria has threatened to embark on indefinite strike over alleged extortion by security agents across the country. The Acting National Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Hamman-Jalo Hamman-Jam, said in Mubi, Adamawa, on Thursday, that the union was tired of the situation. According to him, members of the union were made to part with money at various security check points on major federal highways especially from the northern to eastern part of the country. He claimed that security agents forcefully stop any truck conveying cattle from the North to the East and demand huge amount of money for unknown purposes. “We have complained to appropriate authorities concerned over the high level of extortion of money from our members by security agents. “Again, we, the Amalgamated Union of National Cattle and Foodstuff Dealers Association of Nigeria, hereby, call on the Federal, state governments, and other authorities concerned to urgently look into the matter and address it. “And if the situation continues without any action from government, the union have no other choice rather to embark on indefinite strike,” Hamman-Jam said. The chairman claimed that the dealers were made to part with between N250, 000 to N300, 000 per truck on every trip. https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/nigerian-cattle-dealers-threaten-to-embark-on-indefinite-strike.225069/

Lacking experience doesn't always mean you shouldn't apply. (Shutterstock) When looking for a new job, many of us often feel like we’ll never be able to meet any of job listing requirements. Sometimes it feels like companies are looking for some magical creature that probably doesn’t exist on this planet. However, there are possibilities for slightly underqualified applicants. If you are confident that you are capable of doing a job and the three features below apply to you, you should take your chances. 1. You’ve got relevant experience. When you’re a recent graduate and the company is looking for someone with 10 years of experience, you better pass this one up. But if you are reasonably close to the amount of years of experience the job listing suggests, and if this experience is very relevant to the skills required, you do have a good chance of being invited for an interview. The relevance of what you have done in the past is way more important than the number of years you’ve had to get well-versed in it. Inviting you for the first round of interviews is a chance the company may take to make sure they don’t miss out on someone amazing. 2. You are eager to learn. If your application is lacking some years of experience, try to compensate for it in other domains. Show the hiring company that you are someone who is, and always has been, eager to learn. Even if you already have a job, continuous learning benefits you either way. Proving that you are able to keep learning on moments when it’s not required, will convince the recruiter that you will also be able to learn when it’s needed. If you don’t have the ideal skillset yet, but you have a long track record of taking extra courses, they will be tempted to make that phone call. Plus, the company will have the opportunity to teach you their ways without you being influenced too much by previous experiences. 3. You have loads of potential. Make sure the hiring company is convinced that you will be a great addition to their business. Not by bragging about your many adventures during your time off, but by being a good candidate who is almost qualified enough, very eager to learn and has obvious potential. Make them feel like they could benefit from hiring you and it would be a mistake to pass up on you. The perfect candidate often doesn’t exist, and if you are an awesome person who perfectly fits in the company they might adjust the role they had in mind for their new employee, provide extra support to get you to where they want you to be or even create a completely new role where you would be very valuable for the firm. Not having enough experience for a job doesn't have to be a problem... http://m.careers24.com.ng/career-advice/job-hunting/how-to-improve-your-hireablity-even-if-youre-underqualified-20160928-2 |

Aufbauh:Ok. Case closed. |
Aufbauh:LOL. How is he an household enemy? He's entitled to his own opinion, politics aside. The worst of APC is better than the best of PDP, especially in Edo state politics. Once beaten, twice shy. |
Member representing Egor/Ikpoba Federal constituency of Edo state in the House of Representatives and chieftain of the PDP, Johnson Agbonayinma, has described the governorship election which threw up Mr Godwin Obaseki as governor elect as very transparent, adding that it is true reflection of the wishes of the people of the state. Agbonayinma who stated this while congratulating Mr Obaseki who defeated his closest rival and candidate of his party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with 319,483 votes as against 253,173 polled by Ize-Iyamu, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and fair election in the state. According to him, “I want to congratulate both Obaseki and INEC, Obaseki deserves it because it is the obvious that the generality of the people of the state wants him and that is democracy in action. For the fact that I am a PDP man does not mean I will not commend something good. I live in America and they don’t play do or die politics. So I congratulate Obaseki and I hope he will surpass Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s record because he has a huge challenge before him now. “And for INEC, you see most times all of us blame INEC for inconclusive elections but you can see that it is not their fault with what happened in Edo state. There was no violence in that election, no killing, people came out freely and happily to cast their votes and you saw the result. So that will tell you that if we don’t witness violence INEC will always conclude elections. “So we have to orientate our politicians not to see politics as a do or die thing. they should emulate what happened in my state Edo so that we will not continue to rubbish INEC.This has shown that if politicians behave themselves, INEC will do their job perfectly.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/10/02/obasekis-emergence-true-reflection-of-wishes-of-edo-people-says-pdp-reps-member/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook
