The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele said N55.46 billion was disbursed to 24 power firms as electricity market stabilization facility. Emefiele said this at the 4th tranche disbursement of the facility in Lagos. He said that three distribution companies got N8.67 billion, 14 generating companies and Nigerian Independent Power Project (NIPP) had N35.83 billion, Service Provider; N459.68million and six gas companies got N10.49 billion. He said that the disbursement was a major milestone in the effort of the bank, in collaboration with the Federal Government, to further address the challenges of the sector. According to him the disbursement will also feature the signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Traders (NBET). He added that the signing would signal activation of industry contracts for power generation under a contract based market. The CBN boss said that there were new entrants into the scheme. Emefiele said that the new entries were the two distribution companies in Benin and Jos. He added that others included eight generating companies that include two independent power projects by Agip/Okpai and Shell and six NIPP plants at Alaoji, Geregu, Ihovbor, Olorunsogo2, Omotosho2 and Sapele2. “By the end of today, total disbursements to the Discos will be N49.73 billion representing 91.7 per cent, Gencos with N54.29 billion, representing 62.5per cent. “Gas companies got N15.73 billion reprsenting 36.9 per cent and service providers N0.46 billion representing 1.7 per cent. “With today’s event, the total disbursements under the initiative will be N120.2 billion, representing 57 per cent of the total amount earmarked,” Emefiele added. The Minister of Power, Housing and Works, Mr Babatunde Fashola, said that the government was committed to ensuring that power supply becomes stable. Fashola said that the government was committed to addressing all the challenges that had been militating against steady power and revenue collection. He also said another challenge was the issue of over dependence of the participants in the value- chain. He urged every member in the value chain to contribute to the success of the sector. The minister said those vandalising the pipelines should stop adding that the government had embarked on a cleaning programme of the affected areas. He urged consumers to also ensure that they pay for their bills to allow power firms to generate more revenues to ensure better service delivery. He added that government planned to embark on the construction of more hydro power plants. Fashola said government would soon come up with a framework that would boost the production of solar energy, reduce cost and increase its usage.(NAN). http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/05/21/cbn-disburses-n55-46b-to-24-power-firms/ |

The Real Reasons 70% of Black Women Are Single: It's Not What They're Telling You! We’ve all heard on Oprah, CNN, ABC News, and the Washington Post that 70% of black women are single, and 42% are unmarried. We’ve even recently heard a young black women (Helena Andrews) say that she is successful, black and lonely and that “Bitch is the New Black”. Helena’s story is probably the most heartfelt as I can relate to her, when I was in my 20s that is... but now at 40, I can say that there are many things that I have learned about Black men and 2 that stand out the most are that: 1) “Being a bitch” was never going to get me the love I desired from black men. (Note: Being a bitch as in being mean, argumentative, hard to get along with, bitter, etc.) 2) Our "credentials" don't attract men! Just because WE feel that we are successful, independent, professional and educated doesn’t mean that’s we’re attractive to men, or even datable for that matter. I have learned that it is our EXTERIOR that gets a man's attention (smile, look, personality, non-bitchy attitude, confidence and overall attractiveness) and our INTERIOR (our love for God, family, friends, being honest, supportive, respectful, emotionally stable, goal-oriented) that keeps a man coming back for more. Even though many news organizations have provided the statistics I mentioned above, I’ve rarely seen these media outlets offer any real solutions. In fact, I’ve yet to hear anyone really explain the REAL reasons so many black women are single, as its much more complicated than the “numbers.” I personally don’t believe in allowing the media to exploit this issue and give an appearance that Black people have issues and challenges that we cannot solve on our own. As a single, successful black woman, I refuse to allow the media to make me feel bad or desperate about the plight of the “single black female,” especially given the personal and professional success sistas have made in a male-dominated world. So, Black men and women, WE can facilitate our own discussion on this challenge and identify real solutions that work for us. I’ll begin by offering a 2-part article to address this challenge. In Part 1, I will discuss the real reasons why so many Black women are single... because you know the media isn’t telling the whole story and in Part 2: I will offer 10 practical solutions for women who are looking to find a “good man.” Please feel free to share other suggestions! The Real Reasons So Many Black Women are Single: *Note: Some of the reasons could apply to women that are not black, but the focus of this article is on Black women because that’s all we keep hearing about in the media these days. There are many factors that have lead to why so many Black women are single, but I believe the most significant factors are listed below: 1. The Black Man Shortage (as I read on Essence.com): 42% of Black women are unmarried. 70% of professional Black women are single. The numbers don’t lie and there is a real gap between “datable” Black women and men. Even if there is some degree of inaccuracy in the numbers, if you just talk to Black women, many will agree that there are some challenges finding a “good black man, ” that is... one that is not behind bars, gay, or with other races. I’m also fully aware of this challenge due to the number of Black women who write me about it every week. So, the statistics do play a role in this challenge, but it does not tell the whole story. Please read on! 2. Too Many Black Women Have Bought Into the Stereotypes On Who They Are: The perception that Black women are hard to get along with, mean, bitchy, argumentative, bitter, etc. has become a reality for too many black women. I know, because I used to be that way (and still have relapses on occasion but irrational behavior and constantly “going off” on people, especially your man, is not an attractive quality to have when trying to maintain a relationship with a man. I had to LEARN that just because I was running things at work, didn’t mean I was going to run things with my man. So, I had to “check my attitude” at the door when dealing with my black man. Maybe a man really needs to be the head of the household, and if you don’t trust that he can be, then leave him alone and move on. A wise man once told me that anything with two heads is a monster, so only 1 can be head of the household, and for me, I prefer it to be my man. Sistas, we know we have carried too much of the financial and emotional burden of raising our families alone, but we should use that to draw strength from and not allow that to make us emotionally weaker. I remember being in my 20s at a management consulting firm I worked for and this brother told me that I would definitely make Partner but no one would ever like me because I was so damn mean, and I actually was naïve enough to take that as a compliment; not realizing that my “meanness and bitchiness” had spilled over into my personal life and keeping me from attracting and keeping good men in my life. 3) Many Black Women Have Made a Conscious Decision To Be Single: I know you’re saying yea right. But this is actually true. I know personally for me, I have been married before, but I prefer to be single, especially since I don’t want to have children. Personally, I am not looking to get married again, but I’m not opposed to the idea either. If I meet someone who makes me feel that being married to them is better than my freedom and the luxuries of my single life, then I would consider getting married again. The most important thing to me is to have quality, meaningful relationships with men with similar dreams, goals and interests in life. People fall in love and marry because it’s the tradition. Men and women have been getting married since before recorded history. Until recently, America was the most “married” nation in the world. But now many ask, “Do I have to be married to live happily ever after?” In today’s society, people have a strong desire to simply be happy, whether that means being married or unmarried. Being single is not synonymous with being “alone”. Many single people do have a meaningful love relationship in their life. Society makes people think that end goal of two people who love each other is a “traditional monogamous marriage” but I don’t believe everyone fits that model. Whoever said dating has to end in marriage? If marriages were so great, why do more than half of them end in divorce? So, there are really some women who are happy being single... Seriously! 4) Black Men Don’t See Many of the Qualities That They So Much Admire in Their Mothers and Grandmothers: To say it’s just a shortage of black men is only a small part of the problem, but as Black women we have to re-evaluate who we are and who we’ve become today. Black men don’t see the strong, quiet strength of their mothers and grandmothers; neither the homemaking/cooking skills either. In my book Why I Love Men, I have a section called “Never Underestimate the Relationship Between a Man and His Mother” that discusses this further. A wise woman understands the precious bond between a man and his mother. You’re not going to change it nor would you want to. A mother is very proud of her son, especially if he’s a good man. His mother values him. His mom and grandmother has loved him unconditionally all his life, and well, you, not so long. If you want a smooth relationship with a Black man, be sure you understand WHY he loves his mom so much and it will help you build a stronger relationship with him. And, if you don’t know why he admires and loves his mom so much, ask him. In fact, a huge red flag for me is when a guy doesn’t have any relationship with his mother, and she is still living. Or if he speaks to his mother in a disrespectful or harsh manner, he will likely treat you the same way. 5) Black Women Have Spent Their Best Years Pursuing Their Education and Career Goals not Realizing that Their Strongest Assets (e.g., Looks, Fertility) Decrease With Age: I know this may be unpopular, but it is the truth. A woman who wants to have a family should capitalize on her looks, age, and fertility while she is young instead of only focusing on chasing the high-powered career. I believe (and of course I could be wrong) that a man would more likely be with a young, fine woman that is less educated and makes him feel good (in terms of stroking his ego) then an average looking woman with a great career and education.) If marriage and having children is important to you, you may want to NOT focus as much time on pursuing your career goals, but spend more time pursuing and developing meaningful love relationships while you’re young, perky and fertile. If you want a husband and family, you have to pursue it with the same focus and attention you did to achieve your career goals, and by all means, don’t let you looks, fashion sense, and overall attractiveness go downhill. Note: In my book, Why I Love Men: The Joys of Dating, I share insider secrets, practical advice and techniques that any woman can use to maximize her physical beauty without cosmetic surgery, because as shallow as it may sound, how physically attractive you are is very important to men, and should also be to you if you are seriously looking to attract and keep a man. 6) Black Men Struggle More Than Any Other Group of People in Society and in the Workplace: You have to ask why are there so many black men in prison and under-educated? Why is the unemployment rate so high for black males? Why is the suicide rate so high for black males? Why are so many black men absent in their child’s life? Why are black males struggling more than other group of people? We have to better understand the struggles of Black men to really increase the number of “datable” black men...and I’m no expert on the answers to these questions and I know when I’m out of my lane, but there are others who have studied Black males and written on this topic and could surely provide some answers to these questions. 7) Black Women Haven’t Adjusted to the New Hypercompetitive Dating Environment That Exists Today: Many of the traditional rules of courtship don’t exist, for better or for worse, Black women have to do things differently to attract and maintain a long-term relationship with a man. And, if you think about it, most of us have never been taught how to date to find a compatible partner. There was no college course for it. Yes, many women have received advice from family or friends. We may have taken advice from other single women. But most of us are winging it as we go. There are some women who are obviously better at it than others. In Why I Love Men: The Joys of Dating, I’ve consolidated the best strategies that I have learned from friends, relatives and my own experiences and frankly some of the best practical advice that I have ever received and successfully applied to attract the type of men I wanted in my life and they did show up. These strategies have worked for others and they can work for you. You can’t continue doing the same thing and expect different results. It is time to change your approach to dating! So, those are my thoughts, I’d love to hear why you think so many Black women are single and please be sure to read Part 2: 10 Things Single Black Women Should Do to Find a “Good Man.” http://www.blacknews.com/news/reasons_why_black_women_are_single101.shtml#.Vz_-Ono1jqB |

There are only three people that deserve to be on that bus this season and they're not on it. De Gea was our best player all season and he doesn't even make the side of the bus. However, Good luck Man United.... I have no doubt we are winning the FA Cup by beating c/pal in the final; we simply have to, yes, we can! We've come so far; let's make it count! Let's Remember to respect c/pal; by respect, it certainly does not mean being respectful, compassionate, as well as awestruck; it means playing with 100% competence + commitment at all times! Let's treat it as though we're facing Liverpool or "Man City"! United we stand...

The chairman, Board of Directors Jaiz Bank Plc., Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, yesterday, disclosed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has granted it a national license, which enables it to establish and spread its operations to all the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Alhaji Mutallab, made this revelation when he led the top management of the bank on a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III. The Sultan also said that the bank will set up an insurance company called Jaiz Takafuz Plc to enhance its financial base. He noted that Jaiz Bank, which was established about three years ago, now operates 25 branches, a feat he attributed to hard work and transparency the bank had exhibited over the years. “To us, this is a great achievement because we’ve been looking for an opportunity like this, and now we are adorned with a national charter. Once we obtain the license, we are also setting up the first Islamic insurance company so that people can see the difference between the conventional insurance company and an Islamic insurance company.” he said. Highlighting the nature of the insurance, he noted that the difference between the conventional insurance and the Islamic insurance is that, apart from the compensation paid for claims, the customer is also treated as a shareholder. In his response, the Sultan of Sokoto told the bank’s directors that the challenge was now upon them to rise up to meet the demands of people who would be grappling for their services. He noted that Islamic banking is developing progressively internationally even among Christian- dominated countries As part of its social responsibility, Jaiz Bank has also set up the Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation and the Jaiz Zakat & WAQF Trust, which would operate independently of the bank to take care of a number of interventions, including assisting the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), disasters and fire incidences. http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/05/17/cbn-grants-jaiz-bank-national-license/ |
“While there are many problems facing us all at our jobs, we have one ultimate solution and that is to trust fully in God.” In Nigeria today, so many people are unemployed. Some are fearful of being laid off. Others wonder about promotions. Many are looking for better jobs. There are a number of issues facing our country today regarding employment. Here are 7 prayers that you can pray about specific needs in the workplace. (1) Prayer for Work. Most Merciful Father, I’m at my wits end, Lord. I feel like I have tried every avenue to find work and yet I have not gotten a single phone call about my applications that I have sent out. Lord, I want to provide for my family. I want to make a steady income that can pay my rent/mortgage and provide meals for my spouse and children . Lord, you know what is best for me and I lay these burdens at your throne now. You are good all of the time, Father, and I am placing my trust in you this day. I love you Lord! Amen. (2) Jobs at Risk. Blessed Lord, You already know before I speak what I am going to say. Nothing I say is a surprise to You and yet You yearn for my voice daily. I love You, God, because You love me as Your own child. I bring you a huge burden today, Lord. My company is downsizing because they are losing money. O gracious Lord, my department was told about potential lay- offs. I plead with You now, Father. Please keep my position safe. I am scared for my future, Lord. I pray for Your peace that truly passes all understanding. Give me an ease of mind as I continue to work at my job. Lord, if I am laid off, it is because You have allowed it and I pray that You would have another open door ready for me to walk through. You are King, Father, and I trust in Your will this day. Amen. (3) Possible Promotions. Wonderful Lord, You have blessed me with so much, Father. I have a wonderful family and church family. I thank you for Your love and I must lay a burden at Your feet. Father, You know about the promotion that I may get. Lord, it would be a huge blessing to receive it. I am not putting my faith in money, Lord. My faith is in You only. If You allow me this promotion, I will use it faithfully as You see fit. I will be responsible with it and pay off existing debts and I will continue to tithe at church. Father, I am giving this completely to You and whatever Your decision is, I will thank You because You are loving, gracious and generous even in poverty. I love You, Abba Father. Amen (4) Career Decisions. Loving Father, I praise You because You love me in spite of all of my failures and weaknesses. You wash me in Your Word and clean my soul up more with each passage I read. Father, I bring You a burden this day. I feel like I am stuck in a dead end job with no possibility of promotion. I am barely floating above water right now. You have blessed me with other talents that I could potentially use in other career fields. Father, if You are willing, I pray for You to open a door to a different career for me. I would love to use the talents You have given me to provide for my family. Where You lead, I will follow. I praise Your name, Lord! Amen. (5) Am I Transparent? Holy Lord, Blessed be Your name always. You have set my feet on a solid rock, Jesus Christ. I thank You, Jesus, for Your bravery and love that saved me from my sins on the cross. I will praise You forever! Lord, I feel like a doormat at work. I have tried to promote ideas to better the work environment while cutting down on costs. Management usually pacifies me with words they will not follow through on. They say, “we will consider it" but I know they forget about me as soon as they walk away. Father, You have provided me this job and I am grateful for it. I pray that you will soften the hearts of the leadership there. I don’t even care if they reject every idea of mine, Father. I just want to them to actually care and consider my suggestions. I just want to be seen as a person and not an object to make them money. I love You, Lord and I will follow You wherever You lead. I love You! Amen. (6) Struggles with Co-workers. Beautiful Lord, You are abounding in grace and mercy for Your children. I am so thankful that You call me Your child. Lord, work is getting stressful because of the environment I am in. Father, there are many people who hate You there and they make my life miserable because they know that I love You. I trust in James as it says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds." (James 1:2) I realize the benefit of being persecuted for believing in Jesus and I gladly accept whatever comes my way. Lord, I pray that You would soften the hearts of my co-workers. I will keep planting seeds, Lord. I pray that they will let you water them. I love you, Father. Amen. (7) Tragic Circumstances. Oh Merciful Father, My company has lost a great man to a tragic accident and his life was taken from him. Father, many people at work really loved this man and everyone is lost right now. Father, I pray for strength while I am grieving. Lord, use me to show Your love to all of those hurting at my job. I want to be the light that shines in the darkness, Father. I really need Your strength though. Carry me, Lord, as I help carry others through this difficult time. You are my strength when I am weak, Lord. I love You, Father. Amen. Conclusion While there are many problems facing us all at our jobs, we have one ultimate solution and that is to trust fully in God. God knows what is best for us in all circumstances. I pray that you will trust in God fully with your employment burdens, wants and needs as you continue to live a life worthy of the calling. God bless you all. http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/7-prayers-for-employment-or-work/ |

The House of Representatives in Nigeria on Monday began a special session to deliberate on the Federal Government’s announcement of an increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, also referred to as Petrol. However, plenary degenerated into a rowdy session, as lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) refused to allow the Minister of State For Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, to be admitted into the chamber. The Minister was invited to brief lawmakers on the situation in the petroleum sector. But the PDP lawmakers waved the National flag, singing protest songs and were hell bent on not allowing the Minister entry into the Representatives’ chamber. Dr. Kachikwu on May 11 announced a new price band of 145 Naira per litre of petrol, linking the hike to the difficulty in getting foreign exchange and the inability of the nation’s refineries to produce at optimum capacity to cushion scarcity that has lasted for over five months. He said that the deregulation of the sector would promote competition which he believes will force the price down within the next six months. But critics said the increase from from 86.50 Naira to 145 Naira would cause further hardship. Labour union is also insisting that the government should revert the increase or face industrial action. The lawmakers, who were on recess had convened a special session to question the Minister on the decision of the government to hike price at a period the nation was facing its worse petrol scarcity crisis. http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/05/16/rowdy-scene-house-holds-special-session-petrol-price-increase/ |
The nation’s power sector crisis deepened weekend following the mass disconnection of historic debtors by all the electricity distribution companies, DISCOs to protest the huge unpaid electricity bills by this class of consumers. For now, all historic debtors, including residential, commercial, Industrial and government establishments across the three tiers of government would have to find alternative means of electricity supply until this debt issue is resolved. As at last calculation, government establishments, including the military and security agencies alone owe the DISCOs some 93 billion. The figure comprises 39.1 billion pre-privatisation of electricity assets and 39.5 post-privatisaBASSEYtion. Also thrown into the debt calculation is the outstanding interest of 15 billion, which the Bulk Trader charges DISCOs for late payment of their electricity bills, a situation that occurred as a result of non-settlement of electricity bills as at when due. Two weeks ago, all the DISCOs took pages in national newspapers where all historic debtors were given deadlines within which to pay their debts or have their electricity supply disconnected. Sunday Oduntan, Executive Director, Association of Nigeria Electricity Distributors (ANED) said at the weekend that his member-companies had to carry out their threat when it became “obvious that there is nothing on the table.” Oduntan further said: “Although we appreciate the efforts of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Barrister Babatunde Fashola, but the stark reality is that there is nothing concrete to hold on to. No allowance for MDAs debt to DISCOs in the budget, even though we started discussion before the budget was passed. The indebtedness has become so huge that we are truly troubled about how the government would resolve this without a budgetary allocation. ” Oduntan however made it clear that the current mass disconnection protest embarked upon by DISCOs is not an exercise targeted at MDAs, “but all historic debtors.” He emphasised, “Our position is that this indebtedness is killing us; it is seriously impacting negatively on the entire value chain in the power sector equation. Don’t forget that only 25 per cent of this debt actually belongs to DISCOs, the rest are for other companies in the value chain – generating companies, the bulk trader, gas suppliers etc. So, if you don’t pay and you accumulate debt, what you are looking at is a possible total collapse of the entire power sector. That is what we seek to avert by this action. We need this fund to energise the power sector; to ensure electricity supply and to grow the sector.” Oduntan noted that the operations of all distribution companies are hampered by huge indebtedness of these historic debtors. Government establishments, comprising Ministries, Departments, Military formations, security agencies, owe each distribution company as follows; Abuja DISCO 18.6 billion, Eko DISCO- 8.6 billion, Kaduna – 8.2 billion, Enugu- 7.2 billion, Ibadan- 6.8 billion, Ikeja- 5.9 billion, Port Harcourt-6.8 billion, Benin-5.8 billion, Jos-6.5 billion, Yola 2.4 billion and Kano-1.2 billion. While electricity consumers across the country expect the distribution companies to provide modern facilities such as transformers, pre-paid meters etc. and render world class services, their ability to deliver on these expectations has been seriously constrained by fund shortage of funds caused by huge indebtedness and government’s inability to implement the power tariff structure which would have made funds available to them. Energy analysts contend that unless this funding crisis is resolved through prompt payment of the huge debts and the implementation of the new power sector tariff structure, the nation’s hope of improving power supply may remain a mirage. Realising the enormity of the financial challenges the discoss are facing, the Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola, weeks back, called on them to divest 60 per cent shares in the utilities, in order to access more liquidity. This suggestion has however, been roundly rejected by energy experts, most of who contend that the privatisation agreement the discos entered into with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) was emphatic that no investor would be allowed to sell beyond 5 per cent of their shares in the first five years. What the government should do, according to these analysts, is to promptly pay the huge debts of the MDAs so that the disco could access funds for their operations. These experts also urged the Federal Government to pursue its plan to secure 309 billion Bond to finance the shortfall in the Nigerian Electricity market. Oduntan agreed with these experts: “One indisputable fact is that the power sector needs to be well-funded. In other climes, governments don’t compromise making such a sector have access the needed funding. In addition to immediately ensuring that the MDA’s indebtedness to the sector is settled forthwith, the Federal Government should also pursue this bond which is targeted at financing the shortfall in the Nigerian electricity market. “It is a major way out of our electricity crisis. It is the shortest route to industrial growth, as there can’t be industrial growth without stable power supply,” Oduntan said. http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/05/16/fresh-power-crisis-discos-pull-plugs-historic-debtors/ |
Most of the time an average Nigerian bank customer thinks that having account officers is exclusively for rich and influential customers. This is the main reason why most account holders do not know who their account officers are. The truth here is that all accounts are tagged to an account officer, which means that as an account holder you have an account officer. In this article am going to write on the benefits of knowing and using the services of your account officers in Nigeria. Since customer service is now the difference maker in the industry, every bank is now trying as much as possible not just to get the customers, but to also have a relationship with them as well. The above is the reason why most banks refer to account officers as “relationship officers” and in reality the bank expects these officers not just to manage accounts, but to also manage these customers and have a cordial business relationship with them. Now let’s go right into it, these are what you will benefit by using the services of your account officers: (1) GIVES YOU UPDATE ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNT: When you are indisposed to come to the bank to make inquireries about your account, just call your account officer on phone and he/she will get the job done. (2) QUICK CHEQUE CONFIRMATION: When you issue a cheque, simply call your account officer before your beneficiary gets to the bank, this will eliminate thedelay that comes with the confirmation process. (3) ACCOUNT REACTIVATION: Yes even your account officer can come to your home or office to collect your documents and reactivate your dormant account while you are cooling off somewhere. (4) ADVISES YOU ON FINANCIAL MATTERS: That’s his job! they need to keep you in business so that thosemoney will keep rolling in. They intimate you on the best and latest credit facility that will keep your business afloat. (5) CASH YOUR CHEQUE ON YOUR BEHALF: Although there is no standard policy on this, but then this is where relationship comes in, while you are busy with some important matters, you can call your account officer and send a cheque across and he will bring the money right there in your door step. This list is by no means exhaustive, but more benefits of a cordial relationship with your account officers can be cultivated as the need arises. Don’t know your account officer? don’t worry, just walk into any branch and go straight to the customer service desk to make inquiries, demand for his or her phone number and it will be given to you. http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2015/10/20/benefits-of-knowing-your-account-officer-in-nigerian-banks/ |

Targets 10% increase in revenue generation. The Lagos State Government has said it has re-engineered its outstanding internal loans, a decision that has reduced the burden on its internally generated revenue (IGR) and saved N3.8 billion monthly. The state government has also said it has been able to save N5.99 billion for adopting the Treasury Single Account (TSA), thereby enhancing transparency and efficiency in its financial management. The figures were contained in a presentation made by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Mustapha Akinkunmi, at a news conference to mark the first anniversary of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in office. The commissioner addressed the conference alongside his Information & Strategy counterpart, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, and the Accountant General of the state, Mrs.Abimbola Umar, among others. At the conference, Akinkunmi said the state government successfully re-engineered the state’s outstanding internal loans “to reduce burden on IGR and technically saved N3.8 billion per month.” He disclosed that the proceeds from the re-engineering of the state’s outstanding internal loans “have been applied continually for the execution of capital projects. In different parts of the state.” FURTHER DETAILS LATER http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/05/15/lasg-re-negotiates-domestic-loans-saves-n3-8bn-monthly/

How true is this? |
If life were a movie, you would live happily ever after once you got married. Unfortunately life isn’t so and there may come a juncture in your marriage when you find yourself involved in an extra-marital affair. The worst part of having an affair is knowing that you are being unfair to three parties at a time – your spouse, your lover and yourself. It is this eventual realization, no matter how exciting the affair, that compels one to try to end an affair before any more damage is done. If you too find yourself caught up in such a situation and have the feeling of perpetually walking on eggshells, take matters into your hand. Make a clean break with your lover and end your affair before your spouse and your family is devastated at your infidelity. (1) Take a firm decision. You can begin to end your extra-marital affair only if you are completely convinced of the correctness of the decision. Understand that what you have been doing is not only devastating to your marriage and your spouse but is inordinately unfair to your lover as well. On one hand you are breaking the bond of trust with your spouse and on the other you are creating a mirage of hope. So take the decision to end your affair and stick to it. (2) Consider how to end the affair. The most honest way to end an extra-marital affair would undoubtedly be to meet your lover and let him/her know of your decision. However such a meeting could get messy and confrontational. Moreover once you meet your lover, you might be tempted to give in and back away from making a clean break. So consider other impersonal ways of breaking up for instance by email, phone or a letter. You may be accused of being low and unfeeling but recognize that at this time being honest is a bigger priority than being gallant and generous. (3) Sooner the better. If you sincerely want to avoid your spouse finding out about your affair, decide to break up immediately with your amour. The more you dither, the greater are the chances of your affair being exposed. Recognize the signs of the start of an affair and nip it in the bud. If you have just spending more time with a co-worker or a pal from school than usual, refuse to meet him or her the next time. Or if you are frequenting a particular shop or restaurant in the hope of meeting somebody, decide to go to another place. Even if your affair has been going on for some time now and your spouse has not yet found out, thank your stars for the luck but don’t push it. (4) Make it clear. While breaking up with your lover, make it clear that this is the end and you will not be seeing each other hand. If you are doing it in a letter or email, keep the content concise and to the point. You might want to be compassionate and understanding of your lover’s pain but this may be construed as your willingness to let the affair continue. So don’t let there be any ambiguity about your decision or hopes about continuing to be friends. This might happen in a perfect world where two adult people from opposite sexes do not give way to emotional or sexual weaknesses. But in a real world, such a thing is impractical and difficult. So be emphatic in your decision that this marks the end of all forms of personal relationship between you and your lover. (5) Cut off all contact. This is the most definitive step in ending an extra-marital affair and may mark the difference between an unaware and a livid spouse. End all forms of contact with your lover, whether in real life or by electronic means. You should not only stop meeting your lover but also stop communicating with him or her by phone, text message, email or posts on social networking sites. If it is impossible to avoid your lover completely, like when he or she happens to be a co-worker, see if you can get a transfer to another office or at least another department. If that too seems impossible, restrict your communication to strictly professional matters. Remember the less you see of each other, the easier it will be to break off an affair before your spouse comes to know about it. (6) If necessary, take help. It is a good idea to seek the help of a counselor or a therapist when you are trying to sort out the mess in your personal life. Professional counselors can offer an objective view on your problems and can come up with effective means of resolving them. While friends and close family members can also offer support, they are unlikely to have a completely impartial perspective and worse may be tempted to reveal your infidelity to your spouse. Counselors and therapists on the other hand make it a matter of their professional principles to maintain the privacy of their clients so that your spouse is unlikely to know about your affair from them. (7) Focus on your marriage. If you are trying to end your extra-marital affair before your spouse finds out about it, it is presumably because you care about your marriage. So turn your attention to your marital relationship and see if there are issues which left you dissatisfied and eventually tempted you into an affair. Talk to your spouse and try to re-connect with him or her. Consider which areas in your marriage need to be worked at and do so before it is too late – again! Ending an affair is not easy – no matter for how long it has been going on. However taking the right steps while going through it, is likely to make the breakup cleaner and more decisive – something that is essential if you wish to put the affair behind you before your spouse gets wiser. http://www.futurescopes.com/affairs-and-infidelity/857/how-end-extramarital-affair-your-spouse-comes-know

RaeMystix:A controlled explosion has just been carried out within the stadium by bomb disposal experts at Old Trafford. And dearie me, what a state of affairs: people can’t just go to a football match for fear other people might blow them up. |
The match has been abandoned because of a suspect package found at Old Trafford. Supporters in the north and west stands were told to leave shortly before the scheduled 3pm kick-off, which was consequently delayed for 45 minutes before the club announced it had been abandoned altogether. The club described it as “operation code red”. Cheers!!! |

Please attempt all questions. All questions carry equal marks. If GEJ is a constant, while APC is variable, and if 1year has been used for blaming; With the aid of a diagram, 1. Discuss the probability of APC blaming GEJ for the next 3 years for, i. Dollar increase ii. Fuel price increase. 2. If APC = all promises cancelled, where PMB is a constant, discuss the speed at which peoples' suffering may increase. 3. Define the term, 'Budget padding'. 4. Mention 3 types of APC propaganda you know, and how they can be used in the 21st century politics. 5. Mention five prisoners you know that were fed with N14,000 a day. 6. The Niger Delta crisis is a serious matter that requires serious policy and committed and courageous leadership to resolve. The Niger Delta has been complaining about environmental damage from oil exploration and rising unemployment and poverty in the region, but the successive governments and the multi-national oil corporations have been insensitive to the plight of the people. The people have endured a long history ofeconomic and social injustice and they are now “tired of being at the bottom.” I don't support the activities of the militants, but the truth is that, we the people of Niger Delta have been suffering from environmental degradation and pollution through oil spillage and gas flaring. There are many other “Tales of Agony” strewn the landscape that I do not deem necessary to drop here. The crisis in the Niger Delta is not complex by itself. But the approach to resolving it makes it complex and dangerous. Thepeople are not asking for anything out of the ordinary. The region that is home to Nigeria’s oil wealth remains the mostimpoverished community in the nation. What a paradox! Travel down to the communities and you will notice the lack of basic infrastructure, good network of roads, health care facilities, good schools and portable water etc. The oil wealth is not being used to develop the area. The successive governments have collected billions of dollars from the land over the decades, but little (if any) has been invested in the area to improve the people’s living conditions. Is there anything wrong in investing some money that are realized from the oil extracted from the region to improve the people’s living conditions? The main causes of Niger Delta crisis include greed and selfishness, deprivation and poverty, and “social injustice.” Thesimple meaning of social justice, according to experts, is that the same contribution equals the same benefit. A person’s“benefit" equals his or her “contribution.” And no community should be given more when it contributes less or be given less when it contributes more! That is the crux of the matter in the Niger Delta crisis! The Niger Delta is contributing a lot to the economic well being of Nigeria and it is getting nothing, but destruction, in return. Without social justice there will be no peace in the Niger Delta and socioeconomic development will continue to elude the region. Social justice is an important ingredient for “socioeconomic development.” It creates “a healthy, harmonious, reliable social psychological atmosphere that willstimulate economic development.” And because of social injustice the entire nation is slowly becoming politically and economically very unstable. God bless Nigeria!!! |
