Hello people...abeg who knows of any banks in Lagos still selling PTA? Know of only 2 banks..Union & Eco....Tried Union bank & was told $$ is only sold to their staffs & spouses for now (who knew it would pay someday to be married to a Union bank staff ) and i dont have an acct with Ecobank, offered to open one but was told I'll need to run it for 6 months to be eligible...any other ideas pls?
My colleague and his wife bought $8k from Stanbic IBTC head office in VI yesterday.

He didn't have to open an account there...

In the spirit of 'giving back' to the thread...

My wife arrived NY today. She left Lagos yesterday and arrived NY this morning. She probably had the shortest and smoothest POE interview ever.

CPB: How long are you here for..
Mrs: 3 months
CPB: Who would you be staying with?
Mrs: Family.
CPB: Enjoy your stay..

She was stamped in for 6 months... We were very prepared for secondary inspection and further interrogation with a large stack of documents but they didn't ask for the purpose of her visit not to talk of documentation...... A favored woman she is...

Now waiting for the first hospital appointment.. smiley

Madam... No need to get angry.. What's wrong is wrong angry ...

That you and other people got a visa using deceptive means doesn't make it right

If what you advised the young man to do isn't wrong, i'm not sure how else to describe it.

It's plain as black and white..

It's folks that do stuff like this that makes foreigners look at Nigerians and generalize that we're all dishonest people and fraudsters...

There's no point arguing with you ...You know you're wrong that's why you're angry.. maybe when you get a lifetime visa ban from one of these countries, you'll learn.. grin

For those still looking for how to get PTA, we were both able to get from UBN head office.

The account was opened the previous week. We had to wait a few days after applying but still got it at 199.5.

Beats mallam rate that is now 242.

Thanks Enyinne. Is yours renewal when u claim to have lost it or first Visa.because hers is renewal. If yours is renewal too,Did u renew it via Drop Box or u went for interview before u got back your 2 years Visa. is there any other document u presented to the embassy to back up your claims that u actually lost your passport, like police report or any other document. Thanks in anticipation.
My bro please don't lie.

Being refused a visa previously is NOT grounds for denial. You can go through all that process and still get denied so what would you do then?

Just be honest.. you'll get your visa...

This is the kind of stuff we do that gives Nigerians have a bad reputation!!!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by donugapi(m): 9:40pm On Nov 25, 2015
Enyinne:
It's better she makes a new passport claiming she lost d old one as that is what I did when my application for Canadian visa was refused .I had to do a fresh passport and tendered it to usa embassy and I got my 2yrs visa .if she dare go to usa embassy with that passport, tendencies is that she will be refused visa.
People need to stop giving others bad advice on here.

You don't need to lie about losing a passport to get another visa. I'm a frequent traveler and I've run through 2 passports in less than a year before and I'm currently on my 6th passport. With all that, I got denied a Schenghen visa via the Spanish embassy this year. Guess what... I still got another Schenghen visa after that for Norway.

Being denied a visa does not mean a passport is now useless. There are people here that have applied for the US visa 3-4 times before they were successful. Who knows what would happen if that deception is found out.

I know people generally give good advice here but we should also discourage it when people give bad advice

So what are the rules on posting in hospitals here?

I've read through the site and haven't posted. I tried to respond to someone's query about hospitals and realised my posts kept getting deleted.

Not sure what was wrong with my posts. I've seen very similar posts here and that's how i got information that allowed us make our plans..

How is one able to help others if you can't post vital information that others need?

Is it only a certain group of people that are allowed to post hospital details? What are the rules?
TravelRe: REFUSAL Of Visa And Seizure Of Passport By UK Embassy by donugapi(m): 9:32pm On Jul 13, 2015
You do not get an exit stamp when you leave the UK nowadays. At least in the past 5 years, i've never had my passport stamped when leaving... If you did, the Embassy would have seen this on his passport and he wouldn't be having this problem...

Gabbysky:
No Bro, you get an exit stamp when you leave the UK. I got severally.
@OP, plz in God's Name, do not go near the NIS office for that passport if you know you did something wrong, knowingly or not. (Ignorance is no excuse).
I am pretty sure your Passport would have been delivered to them with 72 hrs according to immigration rules.
And one more thing, relocate to a new environment and change ur name if possible.

Hey Mr Sienna...
Was looking for your older thread on Volkswagen and Audi resolution issues but since this was your latest post i felt i'll find you here..
Anyways, I've got a VW 2012 Passat 1.8 TSI. Everything about the car has been good so far but in the last 6-8 months, i've noticed that when trying to accelerate from 2nd gear, there is a jerk/stall similar to what you have when you try to move a manual geared car from start using 2nd or 3rd gear.

I notice this more when i'm driving on roads where there are plenty of speed bumps. I slow down to go over the bumps and it drops to second but when i try to accelerate after going past, it jerks. If i go real slow and the gear drops down to 1st, the acceleration would be smooth without any issues. I've taken it to the Volkswagen center here and they felt it was an issue with the gear mapping... They did the "software update" but it hasn't made any difference.

I'm wondering if you have any idea what could cause this since you're quite familiar with the build of these cars.

Thanks

josh4ever: If this story is true, then it confirms my earlier belief that she died of a ruptured Congenital Berry Aneurysm. The signs on autopsy will mirror that of a hypertensive stroke. To confirm the diagnosis of hypertension, they have to look at the heart and other major vessels to find signs of hypertension. I doubt that she would be hypertensive at that age though it's not impossible in medicine. But for a berry aneurysm, if it's near the circle of Willis, then it would put to rest the hypertension story..

In all, RIP Goldie
It's nothing to do with age sometimes.
I'm 26 and hypertensive but I'm taking medication and making lifestyle changes.
It runs in my family and anyone that has it takes the meds.
My grandma that is in her 80s has been taking the meds since she was in her early 30s. Goldie was 31. She probably never knew that she was hypertensive plus with the stressful celebrity life, it must have been aggravated

There must be something they're not saying!
She must have been hypertensive without knowing it. And it has nothing to do with age. Most likely stress or hereditary. If she didn't know she was, she wouldn't have treated it and that's what probably killed her

Ikenna351: Your posts in this thread showed that you know nothing about cars, yet you keep trying to prove a point you dont even understand.

How you could compare two cars fuel economy without first knowing their engine capacities, engine cubic/litre, no. of cylinders, naturally aspirated or turbo, car weight, tyre sizes, state of their injection systems, etc.

Its obvious that your Passat was having a serious injection issue, but you failed to solve the problem. The truth is, not everyone deserves every car. If you dont know how to handle or maintain an EFI car, dont bother owing one. Go for fuel carburreted engine car. Newer cars have made diagnosis so easy that you dont need a mechanic to do repairs on your car anymore, except the major repairs, yet to some folks still cant tell a spark plug from injector, when they have internet access. What do we even use internet for? To check to know the next Governor rumoured to have died? Smh!

While the Passast was giving you issues, did you bother to scan it? Did you bother to take it to a reputable VW workshop? Why should you complain when you chose an under mango tree mechanic, i believe. No offence, but Euro cars are not for unserious car owners.

Ikenna.
Bro you hit the nail on the head!!! So many ppl just chat bollocks here without having any proper auto knowledge..

ehie: LOL..i filled up my tank last week and friday, and i have fuel on quarted tank now...can u try that with passat,i will probably fill my tank upper monday, and the distance between my house to work is about 45 minutes without holdup, with holdup roughly and hour and i go to work everyday, however i do not use the all the time...all these ur calculations na u sabi
I use a passat.. It's a 1.8 Turbo charged engine.. I'm sure it'll do better than your Toyota. A full tank of gas in my car would do considerably more than what you've described here...

It's all a matter of cost for people going for Japanese.

If you're all about quality, comfort and enhanced SAFETY, you'll definitely prefer the bigger German names. The german cars are built tougher with higher grade materials.. That's why they generally cost more to maintain!!
Car TalkRe: Common Car Purchase 'traps' In Nigeria by donugapi(m): 5:32pm On Dec 12, 2012
Subtext: I don't think there's anything wrong with names like Honda and Toyota really. People didn't just start recommending them for nothing. They make reasonably good cars. Before it came time to buy my car, I used to 'make mouth' that I'll go for a rare make like those exotic German and Italian brands. When the time really came, no be person tell me to arrange myself. A friend of mine inherited a car that was bought brand new some 4 years earlier from his mom. A volkswagen Polo. Ordinary volks Polo oh!. You need to see issues! Yet no parts. The last time I saw him he was swearing 'never again!' Trust me you are safer with brands with readily available parts and mechanics. Even Americans done ditch 'em oldsmobile and GMs etc. for Toyotas and Hondas, so what you sayin? wink

Anyway, check out this link for a general feel of reviews and complaints per brands http://www.carsurvey.org/

The only point you raised which I readily agree with and which I'm trying, God help me, not to fall into presently, is envy related emotions
I think it all balls down to how you maintain your car. I use a I've got friends who have bought brand new volkswagens in 2008 about the same time. One guy used his car carefully, serviced and changed parts at VW center. The other guy stopped using them after a while saying their servicing and parts cost too much. Right now, one of them still enjoys his car to the fullest while the other guy keeps spending hundreds of thousands on his car with roadside mechanics. Even though you might still get the odd one from a batch that might be very faulty (not uncommon with mass produced products, proper maintenance is still very key to how well you enjoy your car.
Car TalkRe: Common Car Purchase 'traps' In Nigeria by donugapi(m): 12:30pm On Dec 12, 2012
Another thing to look at as well is that, If you're going with the crowd, you need to be ready to deal with the possibility of your parts or even worse, your car getting stolen.
Those cars are high demand cars for criminals and carjackers.
I've personally had experiences of friends that have had their ECU, Side Mirrors, Lamps etc. stolen from these cars and the main culprits are Toyotas and Hondas.

I witnessed d construction of d ago bridge to apple junction & Festac link bridge to oshodi-mile2 highway & there's a huge difference in the Manner of approach in fixing dis ago road. Unlike the former road mentioned where d whole earth was scrapped out & relaid, d construction guys are just pouring sand on d existing road. D right of way (distance btw drainage channels on both sides of d roads) is inconsistent cos some houses are deemed untouchable cos dey are can chieftains. I won't clap 4 dem yet until 2yrs after construction.
You're very wrong oga.. The road was scraped to and new layers filled before the interlocking stones were placed. I live there, pass the road everyday and witnessed the construction from start till present status..

But having said that, they;re very inconsistent with the locations of the drainage and the way they've skipped some houses has made the construction confusing sef

The construction is so bloody slow..

What is their deadline, and what are their targets?
