They are jokers.. if they jave found oil in large quantity, they would have called for break up long ago. I will advise them to invest on what they know best and start planning for the future of their people because others will never allow them to be parasite to them. The earlier they know things will never be same again the better for them. |
After reading about what the northern governors said about the indivisibility of Nigeria I will like to respond to issues raised in the write-ups technically. 1. No agitation from the North is a big lie. If a people will hoist their Islamic flag and take up arms against the country army and her people , this Northern Governors do not see as agitation for break up ? 2. Being Root of the country's unity is another big lies peddled by this group. It is very obvious and veritable that North are the root cause of disunity in Nigeria. The Northerners do not believe in Nigeria unity. Look at the lies sold through skewed population figures, LGA, Revenue sharing, Heads of major and minor Government agencies. etc. The Northerners are the ones fanning the Amber of disunity through lack of respect for other tribes and regions in the country. 3. Unpreparedness of the North for break up. I will say the Northers are the most prepared for Nigeria break ups. The unfruitful and wasteful expenditure of huge resources and funds for exploration for crude oil in the North. The siting of all Nigeria Army armerment in the North. The huge investment in the North even to Marada in Niger Republic. 4. Sarcrifice of the North for unity of Nigeria is a big lie too. The West , South South, Middle Belt and South East has given a lot for the unity of Nigeria without any appreciation from the North rather the North has been assualting and insulting other tribes and regions in Nigeria. 5. The reasons for the Northern Governors coming out at this time to claim unity in Nigeria is because their thought out plans have back fired. More so, the North cannot survive on her own without leaching on other tribes . North has become a deadly parasite on other tribes or regions in Nigeria. Let the North lose the monthly largesees handed down by the Northern focus government of Nigeria alarm will blow.( Check revenue generation). North will not want regional government or break up because the time for reckoning with the Almajeries. 6. Unrealistic Future that the Northern Governors are propagating are not founded. A future that has no foundation. The North has succeeded in creating a bad culture that may never be eradicated for long time to come that is the fuedal system This is a situation where few individuals are empowered to enslave the larger population. This is not a future expected in this 21st century. In conclusion , I will employ these Northern Governors to be sincere with themselves for once by realising the God has decided to dismantle their fuedal system that has been drag back for this country. These people stood against restructuring and any body or group that make peace change impossible with make violent change inevitable. If truly these Governors wants a unity in Nigeria, they must be ready for a speedy genuine restructuring that meet yearnings and aspirations of all regions and tribes in Nigeria . Except this genuine restructuring is undertaking in earnest the cracks in Nigeria may soon become vaults. My sincere opinion to help Nigeria to still remain a nation but that slogan of indivisible one Nigeria has long be eroded . Only sincere and genuine action with untainted Northern deceit can heal the wounds the North has inflicted on others. Copied from Facebook

With their sharia system and clandestine islamization agenda in a secular state. Taqqiya experts, they have failed. |
There must be justice and fair play for Nigeria to remain indivisible country. Without it Nigeria will break and nothing will happen. A situation where Fulanis are allowed to display Ak- 47 while rearing their Cows without caution and you people are saying the country will not break. You can see it clearly that you people are joking. Therefore, the decision that Nigeria will not break must be taken by all the ethnic group in the country. It is not what will be decided by only Fulani/Hausa. Nigerians are tired of you people from Sahel |
▪️"We Will Not Allow Nigeria To Breakup, It Won't Happen Under Our Watch. Nigeria Must Remain One At All Cost" — Northern Governors ▪️The Northern governors Forum has said that the North has never agitated for the breakup of the country, hence, it does not have any plan for it. They Said, “If you look at our population and what we have together is more than what anyone can hope for. So to try to destroy this is certainly a lose-lose situation. That is why we here in the North would never say we want to leave this country. “ “If you examine the situation, you would find out it is only in Northern Nigeria that there is no agitation for the breakup of this country”. They said that the unity of the country is sacrosanct, adding that the North has been playing the role of encouraging the unity of Nigeria “That is why we are the root of this country. If the root is uprooted, the tree will not be there. They then added that so we like to be patient, we like to encourage Nigerians to love their country to be united and tolerate one another. So that we can build a kind of country we like to build.” They then advised Northerners to exercise patience in building the unity of the country, as they are the root of Nigeria’s unity. It is Northern Nigeria that doesn’t have any specific plan of its own, in case Nigeria is divided. This means we have absolute confidence that being together is the best thing for all of us.” Our responsibility is to exercise patience to make sure we guide this country to the kind of unity and progress we need to develop into a better country and even become a nation-state,” The Northerner Governors Forum Said.

Exposing The Lies in General Buhari’s June 12 Broadcast First of all, General Buhari’s broadcast to the nation was not live. As I revealed earlier in the week, it was prerecorded. Not only was it prerecorded, but it is made up of outright lies and deliberate half truths, which I will expose General Buhari described Nigeria as “a shining example of democracy”. This is a lie. Nigeria’s democracy has severely eroded under this administration. We no longer have freedom of speech and we have indiscriminate arrests General Buhari boasted of foreign currency stability. This is false. The Naira is very unstable. It is also one of the world’s most underperforming currency having lost 20% of its value since #COVID19 General Buhari boasted of the success of the Anchor Borrowers Scheme. That scheme is a complete failure. Repayment has been abysmal. Less than 35% of beneficiaries are repaying. The scheme is anything but a success and may be stopped soon General Buhari boasted of “soaring investments”. This is an outright lie. Foreign Direct Investment to Nigeria is not “soaring”. We have lost our place as the number one destination of FDI in West Africa to Ghana All the power projects now mentioned by General Buhari, including Alaoji and others are projects of previous administrations, especially the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Yesterday, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control registered its highest daily increase in new infection with 681 new cases. 2 days earlier, it had registered its previous all times high of 663 cases. How can General Buhari pat himself in the back? The Lagos-Ibadan railway project, along with the other railways that General Buhari listed are the achievements of previous administrations. General Buhari should be honest enough to give credit where credit is due, instead of passing them off as his. Saying that “for the first time in over 10 years Nigeria is conducting bidding process in 57 marginal oil fields” is NOT an achievement. This is routine. It has nothing to do with General Buhari. General Buhari claimed that he has ensured development in the Niger Delta. Can Nigerians ask him what the progress of the Ogoni Clean up is? Audio clean up that never happened. Audio Niger Delta Development. General Buhari boasted of an increase in non oil oil sector exports. The truth is that Non oil exports are down when compared to pre 2015 figures. How can you boast of failure? In a country with a 22 million housing deficit, is General Buhari not ashamed of boasting of building 1200 housing units? This is what a local government chairman should boast of. General Buhari boasted that he has degraded the power of Boko Haram. How can he say that when we just saw what happened in Faduma Kolomdi in Borno. Our soldiers are still being killed. they shoot videos exposing the failures of the anti terror war. General Buhari boasted of improving social inequalities. A big lie. Under him the heads of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary, along with the heads of the Army, AirForce, Police, NSA, DSS, DMI, EFCC, NCS, NIS & NPS being Northern Muslim males. This imbalances contradicts his Taqiyya claims. General Buhari said WHO declared covid19 a pandemic in January. False. WHO did that on March 11, 2020. That he is this unaware, shows his incompetence. If he does not know when #COVID19 became a pandemic, how does he know how to address it? General Buhari said people displaced from the LGAs occurred by boko haram are returning. Not fully, true because more people are being displaced. By the way this is the first time Buhari would admit that boko haram seized control councils under him. General Buhari patted himself in the back for corruption. In 2015, he campaigned on anti corruption. Today, according to Transparency International, Nigeria is now more corrupt than 2015. In 2015 we were 136. Today, we are 144. We have moved backward. General Buhari said he is particularly upset about recent upsurge in rape. But what has he done? The Federal Government has done virtually nothing. The work in stopping this has been carried out by civil society, not General Buhari’s government General Buhari said his government adheres to rule of law. But General Buhari does not obey court orders. Has he obeyed the ordered of Ibrahim Zak Zaky? Was he not forced by the US to release Dasuki after previously disobeying court orders? #BuharisJune12Broadcast

BREAKING NEWS ITS VERY SHAMEFUL THAT GOVERNORS IN SOUTH EAST PROSCRIBED IPOB WHILE THOSE IN THE NORTH ARE HAVING AGREEMENT WITH TERRORISTS. SENATOR ENYINNAYA ABARIBE According to the Senator representating Abia south while reacting to the issue of the executive GOVERNOR of KATSINA STATE claims that the bandits didn't keep to their agreement, Abaribe questions why the federal government was quick to proscribe IPOB and the governors in South east join in that evil action. "I just read a news yesterday where KATSINA state GOVERNOR was saying that the bandits in his state failed to keep to their agreement. I am very shocked to this. Why could the governors in South east proscribe an organization that only Carry flag while their counterpart in the north are having agreement with a body designated as a TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. Why is the F.G silent over this yet they were quick to tag IPOB MEMBERS TERRORIST! This shows that some parts of this country are allowed to do whatever they feel like while others are being hunted! It's very unfortunate especially the role played by igbo Politicians he Stated

JonDon12:Exactly, we need be sure that subsequently, the people that we elect to represent us share the same view and belief with mejority of us. Another issue to be worried about is this, they may pretend to share the same view with us when they are in need of votes but change once they are elected. This has been the behavoir and stock in trade of most politicians. |
ERockson:Most of those guys at the National Assembly and the senate are not there to fight for the interest of their people but to protect their own personal interest. Most are not outspoken. The only person among them that's so vocal is senator Abaribe. So I don't think it'll be a good thing to place our hope on them. |
CANDYDADDY:Water and oil can never mix. A breakup is quite imminent sooner or later. |
saaron:If you look at these news papers you'll find out that the same things that were happening then is what is still happening today. This country is just going round and round and round in a circle, no going foward. We can't keep doing the same thing all the time and expect a different result. Is it not better we go in peace to out separate ways so we can peacefully chart our course? |

***** We Won't Stop Saying It ***** JUXTAPOSITION OF ADESINA/ONYEMA'S ORDEALS AND THE TRIBALISM OF NIGERIAN MEDIA By Chidiebere Nwobodo When news of Akinwumi Adesina's probe as president of African Development Bank (AfDB) hit the media, I became worried not only as a Nigerian, but as one of the admirers of the trailblazing technocrat. Adesina has distinguished himself in his chosen career as one of the great sterling reformists the nation has gifted to Africa and the world. As minister under President Goodluck Jonathan, if he missed the best-performed minister, he could not have missed the second most-outstanding appointee of that Administration. I strongly believe that he does not only possess the leadership qualities to being given second term at AfDB, but a potential African candidate for the exalted seat of World Bank president! This is why American government-spearheaded probe of his stewardship came as surprise to some of us; judging by his stainless strides of excellence in public service. The AfDB Committee, saddled with the responsibility to investigate the allegations of conflict of interest, unethical conduct and preferential treatment (nepotism), levelled against him, has exonerated him of all the allegations. US Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin, wrote a letter to the Bank's board rejecting the clean bill of health given to Mr. Adesina, thereby requesting further probe. While majority of Nigerian present and former leaders have risen in unison in defense of Akinwumi Adesina, Nigerian media has being consistent in defending this illustrious son of ours, against the unnecessary harassment of western imperialists. It is crystal clear that the nation's media industry has rallied around Adesina, of which is highly commendable and patriotic. He remains innocent until proven beyond reasonable doubt in the contrary. If what is good for goose is good for the gander, I think Mr Allen Onyema, Chief Executive Officer of AirPeace was not fairly treated by a dominant section of Nigerian media and political elites, despite his unparalleled acts of patriotism. This man has severally bailed Nigerians and its government when it mattered most. When Onyema was accused by the same American Government of financial infractions and unethical conduct bordering on money laundering, etcetera, while he was yet to put up his defense cum response, Nigerian mainstream media had gone overboard scandalizing his personality. This detribalised Nigerian and philanthropist of repute, who has weathered the storm in the turbulent Aviation industry, to build the biggest domestic airline and West African fastest growing International airline, was literally convicted by Nigerian media on the parochial prism of tribal jingoism. It was like a media jungle justice. The media created the illusion that Onyema could have been in jail by now. But man is not God. Instead of defending Onyema—at least demand fair hearing for the highest employer of labor in the nation's airspace, dominant section of the media allowed tribal bigotry to override their sense of patriotism. I can vividly recall how Premiumtimes, Saharareporters.com, The Cable, The Nation Newspapers, etcetera, were falling on top of themselves with their so-called "Exclusives" and "Breaking", just to crucify him in the eyes of the imperialistic forces who might not be comfortable with the entrance of AirPeace in the international flying routes. I don't support corruption and its affiliates because of tribal sentiments. But Nigerian media did grave injustice to this man. He did not deserve the hostility unleashed on him by the media, at a time he needed them most. Imagine how non-Nigerians watched our idiocy with utter disdain, how we practically "sold out" one of our rising stars of business world, simply because of his tribe. I pray that Akinwumi Adesina will come out of the whole thing unscathed. We need both Adesina and Onyema to put Nigeria on global map. Tribalism is worst than racism. Nigerian media take note.

My name is Engr. Keribo Minakobiribo I'm from Buguma in Tom-George compound but I grew up in Tombia Kingdom. The essence of disclosing my identity is to prove to Mr Asari Dokubo of Buguma, and Mrs Annikio Briggs of Abonnema, that I also, am a son of ijaw land. Once, I was tender but like the saying goes that "the young shall grow ", I must speak and defend my region in its true identity as given by the Opu Tamuno in heaven and not the ways of the British foreigners and the invading Fulanis. My respected brother and sister of Ijaw nation, it appears to me that you and others like you want to continue to keep us in the WILL of the strangers of our land that our ancestors knew nothing about. Mr Asari Dokubo once postulated that Ijaw are more Biafran than others in the Biafran enclave, and we believed him. Madame Annikio agreed with him because during the days of his agitation for the Biafra National Council, you never came up to refute him in that regard. You never agreed that Abonnema that is in Ijaw is more of Niger Delta than Biafra but one thing led to another and Mr Asari is on his own out of the scene. Then Nnamdi Kanu came barely some days ago to enlighten humanity with many historical facts and figures why we are more Biafra than Niger Delta then you came up with your refutals and criticisms capable of causing confusion among the young generation of Ijaw that Abonnema is not Biafra. Madam, I, Engr Keribo totally disagree with you, and insist that Ijaw is Biafra and not Niger Delta. In like manner, Abonnema is Biafra, and not Niger Delta. Recall that the Bight of Biafra has been in existence all the way since 1525 to the middle of the 18th century when Bonny emerged as the leading slave trading port in the Bight of Biafra, thus out-pacing the earlier dominant slave ports of Elem Kalabari also known as New calabar. In 1881 Bakana was founded, 1882 Abonnema was founded, 1884 Buguma was founded, and Tombia was founded in 1885 at its present settlement. The Okirikas were existing since the 17th century. I mentioned but just few, and according to history, the king of Britain in 1875 (even far into 1914 amalgamation of the North and South) sent his representative as a Consul and the Kings and Chiefs signed an agreement and we were then known as Biafra. So, how come today that we don't bear our ancestral identity again, rather, that which the same Britain foisted on us having seen the potency of our unity with our Igbo brothers? They gave us that insulting name Niger Delta. Not only that they also taught the Fulani how sustain the injury and the evil divide -and -rule strategy. In May 27, 1965, Rivers State was created to cause division among us. They called us Port Harcourt ( the name of a man who was a sexual pervert). As if that were not enough, they added Niger Delta garbage. What an insult to the memory of our great ancestors! I might be a small boy in your sight but as long as breath runs in my nostrils I will not allow myself to be labeled by the same foreigners that hate me. I am an ijaw and I am a Biafran that God the creator made my ancestors to be which they passed unto me. I don't know when the conference took place but it is the deliberate effort of Mr Willink of Britain to divide and weaken the potency of our unity with our Igbo brothers who share same cultural heritage with us. Madam, Annikio, do you tie two pieces of wrapper on most important cultural or traditional outings? If yes, so are the igbo and the rest of them in the Biafra enclave. So how come you are saying we are not one people? Fulani are occupying our territories in our fishing ponds and riverine areas and in our mangrove swamps with strategies to fulfil the ancient agenda of 'dipping the Koran in the Atlantic Ocean' to facilitate the final conquest, and you didn't say anything in that regard rather, you easily come on social media to refute and make nonsense of all the verifiable geographical and historical facts and figures that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu makes to shame our oppressors. Madam, your elders are doing this generation great disservice by obstructing historical evidence of who we are as a people. Madam Briggs, we are both from Ijaw despite that I'm from Buguma but if I come to your compound today in Abonnema and say that you are no more Annikio Briggs but 'Aisha', how will you feel? Won't you do something to change the imposed name 'Aisha', and revert to your proper identity? Well, despite whatever your reaction may be, as for me, I am a Biafran. Whether Tombia or Buguma, we are older than that garbage - Niger Delta - given to us by our enemies. Madam, in what has happened so far with the Ogoni Clean -Up project , will you say that justice has been done to the memory of Major Adaka Boro, and the Ogoni 9? What about the underdevelopment being witnessed even right in the heart of Abonnema while the Fulani are in far away North sucking our oil to better their lots? Gov. Nyesom Wike is today battling alone with the Fulani that are coming in their droves to take over our land , what have you said or done so far to show solidarity with him? I found nothing concrete of your efforts in that regard not even on your facebook wall but you easily find it pleasurable to attack Nnamdi Kanu. Madam, with all due respect to your personality, it is too bad that you could allow this hypocrisy to continue to exist till this day. Madam, may I remind you that Mr Frank Opigo who was once a Principal in Okirika Grammar School, is from Bayelsa State. Before the Ahiara declaration of Biafra, the Old Eastern Consultative Assembly members came together to meet over the name the new republic would bear, then Mr Frank Opigo reminded Gen. Ojukwu that "we are all Biafrans", and that was how they adopted that name again. Now if you accept Bayelsa where Mr Frank came from as Ijaw then why is Abonnema of Rivers State not Biafra? Meanwhile Bayelsa was carved out from Rivers State just few years ago. Madam, the ancestors of Bakana Buguma and Abonnema once settled in one location in the 17-18th century before they separated for their present settlements. So, are you saying now that Mr Asari Dokubo was wrong when he said "Ijaw is more Biafra than any other tribes?" Moreover, madam, what is absolutely wrong if we fight together and Ijaw become a confederated region in Biafra nation? Isn't that safer for our region than living with the oppressors in Nigeria ? Tamuno bless Ijaw, Tamuno bless Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Tamuno bless Biafra. Written by Engr Keribo Minakobiribo Wisdom aka DODORIMABIAFRA (Izon man).

With the way people in South West do their usual thing (Body parts minning) let's pray he comes back alive. |
AMB FAFOWORA ON GAMBARI Dapo Fafowora: I know him quite well. I was the one who in 1981 brought him to the UN at his request as a member of the Nigerian delegation. He was then a senior lecturer at the ABU. In fact, the late Prof Audu, who was then Foreign Minister actually advised me against inviting him to the UN. But he had strong academic credentials which impressed me. He had obtained his first degree in political science from the LSE, and a doctorate from Colombia University in New York. We were looking for strong delegates to the UN General Assembly and I considered him the kind of delegate we were looking for. So I invited him as one of our delegates to the UN General Assembly. He was at the UN in New York with me. I gave him and his wife my city apartment which I was not using free for 3 months plus a car. I liked him and I was not seeking any favours from him. After 3 months he returned home and sent me a note thanking me for giving him the first opportunity to visit the UN as a delegate and giving him his first experience at multilateral diplomacy. However, he sent President Shagari a secret and private note that while he was at the UN he observed that I had not been attending the meeting of Islamic states at the UN. President Shagari sent the note to Prof Audu who forwarded it to me in New York. He didn't even ask me for any comments on Gambari's secret memo as Prof Audu fully understood that Nigeria had traditionally not been attending meetings of the Islamic states as we were not then a member of the Group. Gambari asked for a private meeting with President Shagari which Prof Audu advised against. I was shocked that someone I had helped so much turned round to betray me so blatantly. I did not tell him I knew about the secret letter he had sent to the UN. When Shagari was overthrown by Buhari, Gambari became Foreign Minister. When career ambassadors were being suddenly retired I was at first not on the list. But Gambari, now FM and Rafindadi, the head of the NSO who had worked under me in London, and was now head of the NSO worked together to secure my retirement. In fact, when I called him from New York to confirm from him news about my retirement he first denied it. Thereafter, he no longer took my calls. In fact, I remained at my post in New York for another 3 months during which the MFA tried to reverse the decision to retire me. I had done absolutely nothing wrong in my entire career in the diplomatic service and only got into trouble for helping a young academic who turned against me to fulfil his own personal ambition. Since then, he and I have only met twice in very difficult circumstances. First at a dinner by a mutual friend in New York several years after my retirement. He could barely look directly at me. He was clearly embarrassed. Then when Buhari won the elections in 2015 I headed a team that was set up to prepare a paper for him on our Foreign Policy. Subsequently, Alhaji Joda asked him to join the team. Last year, he suddenly called me to ask if I would kindly represent him at a public lecture he had agreed to chair. I told him I could not and that he should look for someone younger. He immediately hung up on me. Now, he may be the kind of person Buhari is looking for to succeed Abba Kyari as COS. They are very much alike but Gambari is more subtle and even more dangerous and will substitute the national interests for his own personal interests. I have no doubt about that. What I have written in this long piece is just some of my personal experience and encounter with him. Everything I have written here is in my memoirs 'Lest I Forget 'which he has seen and read. It is nothing new. But I think it important that the character of our top govt officials should be revealed and not covered up. We have, as a nation, paid dearly for supporting appointments to high office that are often detrimental to our nation. Enough is enough and this has to stop.

nyzeo:I would've loved your mom to read this story down here How Lola brought charm from Ijebu to her marriage in Nnewi By Azuka Onwuka When Emeka broke the news to his parents that he planned to marry a Yoruba lady, they told him that he was a joker. That would never happen, they said flatly. Was there a scarcity of nubile damsels in Nnewi and its environs or in Anambra State and the entire Igboland that their son would travel across many rivers and many states to marry a Yoruba girl from Ijebu-Ode? Or, had the girl bewitched Emeka with “otumokpo” from Ijebu-Ode? She would not succeed, they concluded. Never! Weeks after that, nothing was heard about the issue again. They assumed that the case had been closed. Emeka had come to his senses, they concluded. But had he? Two months later, like a bad dream, Emeka brought up the issue of this Ijebu girl again! This time, his tone was firm. Despite the threats of the parents, he was not cowed. He was resolute to the point of obstinacy. Even the tears of his mother did not move him. His parents concluded their son was indeed under a spell. When it became obvious, after many months of dialogue, pressure, threats, pleas, tears and quarrels that Emeka was hell-bent on marrying Lola, his parents grudgingly gave their consent, but the father warned that nobody should run to him if the marriage went awry. The father also refused to accompany him to Ijebu-Ode for the marriage rites, saying that as an elder, it was a taboo for him to travel far away from home. It did not matter that a few months before the marriage rites, he had travelled through Ijebu-Ode on his way to Lagos. Not only his parents were against the marriage: Out of Emeka’s three brothers and two sisters, only his younger sister was on his side. But Emeka overlooked all that and went ahead with the marriage. When Lola came into the family, it was obvious that she was not welcomed. She was just being tolerated. Matters were not helped by the fact that Emeka had recently relocated his architecture business from Lagos to Nnewi, to take advantage of the burgeoning building industry in the town. And even though he had built his own house, it was within the same compound where his parents lived. It was a large compound: All the four sons had their portions of land within the compound, even though two of them were not based at home. Another handicap Lola had was language: Igbo was the language of the family, but Lola spoke only English and Yoruba. So, Lola began forcing herself to speak Igbo. Any time she uttered an Igbo word or sentence, people would laugh. But her determination and sense of humour impressed everyone. She also did something that nobody around her did: she curtsied or knelt down when greeting elders, especially her husband’s parents, no matter how hard they protested against such acts. That act and her accent marked her out as a Yoruba, which made people treat her like an egg and call her “Iyawo.” Most mornings, Lola would go early to the quarters of her husband’s parents, greet them, tidy up their rooms and collect their clothes for washing. She would ensure that Papa and Mama had their meals. She asked her mother in-law to teach her how to cook all local meals. Mama was eager to teach her, and she learnt fast. Any time Papa or Mama complained of backache, rheumatism or fever, Lola ensured that they got medical treatment. Most evenings, she would spend some time with them, either alone or in the company of her husband, before retiring to bed. Her brother-in-law’s wife sneered that she was shamelessly trying to buy love with her boot-licking tactics. But Lola was not bothered about that. Less than a year after Lola came into the family, the music changed. Emeka’s parents, especially the father, never completed a sentence without mentioning “Iyawo.” He would tell anyone who cared to listen, including the wives of his other three sons, that if it was not for Iyawo, he would have long died. Today, Lola speaks Igbo, or rather Nnewi, like a daughter of the soil. As far as Emeka’s parents are concerned, “Iyawo” can do no wrong. Even when Emeka complains about her before his parents, they will not let him finish before warning him never to do anything that will hurt that “peace-loving girl.” Unknown to everyone, before Lola left her parents’ home, she fortified herself for any eventuality, having known that her husband’s family were not happy about the marriage. Her parents had also done all they could to dissuade her from marrying an Igbo man, but their words fell on her like water on the back of a duck. So she knew she had a major battle to face in her new home. Failure was not an option, for if the marriage failed or proved unhappy, her parents would give her the I-told-you treatment. Consequently, before leaving for Nnewi, she boiled herself in a pot of charm. Then, she etched the charm on her face, tongue and heart. The power in the charm was meant to automatically make anyone around her to like her. Anyone she smiled at or talked to was meant to be charmed by her. What is the name of that charm and how much does it cost? The name of the charm is simple: Genuine love for others. It costs nothing to buy. No medicine-man is needed to prepare or administer it. It has no overdose. Everyone can prepare it. Everyone can administer it: At home, in the office, on the street, in the market. Its result on people is magical. Nobody can resist its effect, including “wicked mothers-in-law” and “impossible bosses.” Fortunately, it is available in all parts of the world: In Ijebu-Ode or Nnewi, Zaria or Ikot-Ekpene, New York or Kabul. Brides and brides-to-be must realise that even though in-laws may seem difficult to deal with, they are human beings with flesh and blood. Parents – especially mothers – want to cling to their sons as long as possible. Parents are naturally suspicious and even envious of “an outsider” – who did not participate in bearing, nurturing and raising of their child – coming to take that child away. To them, the wife is a stranger who may have a selfish agenda to destroy the peace, unity and love existing in that family. It is the duty of the wife not to breeze into the family with an antagonistic stance. Rather, she should reassure her in-laws – through her words and actions – that she has not come to “take away” their son and brother or to destabilise the family, but that she has come in – like a new baby born into the family – to increase the family’s love, peace, unity and happiness. Everybody wants to be loved, appreciated and respected. When love is shown (over a period of time) to even untamed animals like the bear, leopard, chimpanzee, hyena, etc, they respond with friendliness. Human beings have the capacity to even respond better than animals when shown love. The rule in all human relations is that you get what you give. If you smile a lot at people, you receive smiles. If you are cold to people, you receive coldness and more. If you love to help others, you receive help and love. Therefore, those who go about demanding and expecting love, care, and respect from others may get disappointed, but those who first give love, care, and respect to others usually receive them manyfold. Showing genuine love to others is a potent charm that works like magic. --Twitter @BrandAzuka ©The Punch newspaper September 2, 2014 |
He was a Muslim but was loved by Christians. He was Fulani but saw Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and other tribes in Nigeria as one. The truest Nigerian who didn't segregate or choose one tribe over the other. Under his watch, an Igbo man for the first time in Nigeria's history became Inspector General of Police and not only one but two Igbo men consecutively Mike Mbama Okiro (2007 - 2009) and Ogbonna Okechukwu Onovo (2009 - 2010) were appointed Inspector Generals of Police. Under his watch, an Igbo man Air Marshall Paul Dike was the Chief of Defence Staff. Under his watch, A Yoruba man, Air Marshal Oluseyi Petinrin was Air Force Chief. He didn't appoint all the Service Chiefs from his zone so as to make it clear to others that they don't belong. He made us all feel like Nigerians. He understood the pains of marginalization and under his watch, peace returned to the creeks. Under his watch, we all still had hope for a better and greater Nigeria and there wasn't any real agitation to break up Nigeria as we see today. The leadership style of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua should be the lesson notes subsequent Nigerian leaders should have copied. If they had, probably many of our sons and daughters fighting a just cause because of the way they are being treated in a country they should call "home" would still be alive today to contribute their quota to the growth of the nation. Even when Nigerians protested over his policies which were meant to better the lives of the people, he always met us at the round table of dialogue. Today, the removal of subsidy he talked about which many challenged is now being championed by the same people who challenged him. What would they do with the money realized from subsidy? Will the refinaries work again as Umaru had planned so that fuel pump price will fall or would the money disappear into some unprobeable pockets and the people continue to suffer? A respecter of Rule of Law. The late Eze Emmanuel Njemanze described you as exceptional and mourned your demise probably as much as I did. A perfect gentleman if there were any perfect gentlemen. A good man. I salute you Mr President. Without a doubt, you were Nigeria's best. Indeed, we miss you so much. Keep resting in the bosom of Allah, my dear friend. -Ikedi Ohakim May 5, 2020

BUBA GALADIMA wrote: "Don't let them fool you, millions of people in the North are happy Abba Kayri is gone. Not only the South. The elites are also happy. Aisha Buhari is secretly rejoicing, VP Osibanjo is secretly happy, Fashola, Justice Enoghen, Saraki even Tinubu is secretly happy . Abba Kayri was a wicked and heartless man. "AS NIGERIA’S ROGUE RULER IS OUSTED BY COVID19 Nigeria has the tragic distinction of being a nation whose citizens rejoice when their rulers die of natural causes. The deaths of maximum dictator Gen. Sani Abacha who killed and imprisoned many including myself and the death of Yar’adua who’s secretive cabal also threatened my life were greeted with joy and relief respectively. The news of the demise of Abba Kyari, Chief of staff to MG Buhari and de facto president in his own right unfortunately reconfirms this sad historical trend. Abba Kyari was a brilliant lawyer who reportedly made a first class studying abroad. However he utilized his knowledge and intellect not for the betterment of his nation but for the battering of his nation through the most lawless and foolish government ever. Kyari reigned Supreme as the only unelected non-military person ever to completely arrogate powers of state to himself. He was implicated in collecting bribes from MTN a foreign company that jeopardized national security by non-compliance with our laws and shortchanged Nigerians of billions of dollars in fines. Kyari who appointed himself on the board of NNPC also appointed his daughter Vice President of Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. In effect, his nuclear family alone was in charge of both Nigeria’s income generation agency and Nigeria’s savings agency. Kyari was implicated in the shameless auctioning of ministerial posts that brought in the most lackluster and uninspiring cabinet in the history of Nigeria which even included a General indicted for stealing public funds during the Abacha regime. Kyari then decreed via president Buhari that ministers must see Kyari instead of him. But Kyari was not just a corporate thief. He stole from the poor too. A relative of Kyari’s who’s father reportedly helped raise him fingered Kyari for duping him in a contract scam. The victim relative who was an IDP and the police officer who investigated his claim were imprisoned and persecuted by the untouchable Kyari. Under Kyari, the legitimate Chief Justice of Nigeria was unconstitutionally usurped, national elections were hijacked and rigged and the Vice President of Nigeria was permanently quarantined. Kyari will go down in historic infamy as the only man to have surreptitiously and effectively removed a Vice President, a Chief Justice and a President in a democracy - leaving a carcass of a government and a nation behind. Kyari had the blood of countless Nigerians on his hands according to the NSA, with whom he had a public feud, because of his meddling in the war against terrorism. From the above resume of wickedness, lawlessness and maximum impunity, it is clear why it will be difficult for Nigerians to moan the passing of a man whom they did not elect but who misruled them with utter contempt and shameless arrogance. The only redemptive thing about Kyari’s rule is that he managed not to infect several western ambassadors who had the misfortune of meeting him recently. Fortunately, some of these ambassadors have completed their 14 day self-isolation in Abuja without incident. Kyari’s self-importance was so much that even the military boys at the war front and foreign ambassadors in Abuja were all impacted by his overweening presence. For a cabal that has disemboweled our democracy from the inside out, this is a major loss for them. For the populace held down and raped by a vicious and unpopular regime, this is not a loss but a plus - that God in heaven rules in the affairs of men. If we must shed tears for Kyari, then know this: “As long as our rulers pretend to govern, the people will pretend to mourn.” Let us be very clear about this, the good book says, “when the righteous prosper, the city rejoices but when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.” Let everyone ascertain for themselves whom the cap fits. I call on the remnants of the cabal to surrender power back to the de jure rulers, in the fear of God, and to release Vice President Osinbajo from banishment. 1 million Chinese doctors cannot reverse the hand of God. Therefore kindly fear God and do right by his people - the citizens of Nigeria - and govern well and justly for the benefit of all. May God have mercy on us all. |
