Controlled demolition is a phrase used by many here to describe the collapse of TB Joshua's guest house, yet most of the people who actually believe that it was a controlled demolition that brought the house down do not know what it takes to get it right.

First of all, explosives of the right charge would have to be placed at the right columns at the right height and rigged to explode in the right order for a controlled demolition to be archived. It is a very delicate operation that requires a high degree of precision akin to a surgeon's scalpel in contrast to a butcher's knife . And to get all of these conditions right is no random fluke, it requires planning, a technical understanding of structures and a very good knowledge of handling explosives.
It is not as easy as just throwing some dynamite into a building for it to collapse, otherwise people would not go to school to specialise in the demolition of structures.
My point is that planting a bomb in a building would most likely result in visible explosion with lots of fire amidst the ruins, but nothing like that was observed other than cement dust.
The other point of note is that if indeed there was actually an explosion, there is bound to be some residue which won't be too hard to find and analyse. So far, nothing on that front.

My third point is that the collapse of the building is consistent with how a concrete structure is expected to fail under compressive forces. I will do my best to explain this part.
There are two primary forces acting on structures; the first one is compressive (pushing together forces) and the second force is tension (pulling apart forces).
Concrete as a building material is very good for carrying the compressive load imposed by a building but quite poor when under tension, that is why steel reinforcement bars are place in the regions of the concrete that are in tension as steel is very very strong under tension but totally useless in compression.
So when designing a structure, the engineer will have to make sure that there is more than enough steel reinforcement to withstand the tensile force of the structure and more than enough concrete to carry the compressive force as well. The extra steel and concrete is the margin of safety and it is measured as a percentage of the designed load.
The margin of safety for concrete is usually higher than that of steel, because every structural engineer knows that the only thing worse than to have your structure fail, is to have it fail under compression. The reason for this is that a failure under tension is gradual, with enough time to decide whether to repair or evacuate the building. But a compressive failure is sudden and explosive, it results in a catastrophic failure. That was what I saw from the video.

In the absence of doubt arising from critical reasoning, an adult can be so easily swayed like a three year old literalily believing a tortoise and monkey story. Our schools should endeavour to instill critical reasoning into our children, and as parents we should encourage our kids to ask questions and not to accept everything without understanding why.
This guy TB Joshua would have been answering some tough question instead of making useless threat if Nigerians were not so gullible.

When disasters happens, especially one that is close to home it is the usual practice for pastors to talk about it and ask members to pray for those who are directly affected by the disaster. But in the wake of the SCOAN building collapse it appears that most pastors are carrying on with their business like they did not just lose one of their own. So i would like to know if your pastor have asked for your prayers with regards to those who died and those who are receiving treatment as a result of that tragedy.

The guy is just a hustler, albeit a clever one that made the prediction of the imminent release of the girls based on the outrage coming from within and outside Nigeria as an indication that the end of Boko Haram was near. He was wrong on this occasion.

Don't you think the title of this thread is misleading and dishonest? Especially when you don't have link to the source of your ridiculous claim. You say 'military' and building experts', we are interested in knowing who in the military confirmed this and which building expert. If you are not one of those who collected N50, 000 to bend the story behind this unfortunate incident then I wonder why anyone in his sane self would allude to such dishonest tale.
If you or the entire SCOAN is trying to make the world believe that the video you posted confirms a bomb explosion, then I think we a dealing with a classic case of dishonesty. If even the learned among you cannot tell why there was rapid burst of air and debris from the side of the building during the collapse then I dare say that you are all dumb.
I am definitively not one of those calling for TB Joshua's head to be put under a guillotine, I know it was an accident and it can happen to anybody prophet or no prophet. But what continues to amaze me is the reactions from SCOAN since this event chief of which is the attempt to skew the story with the most ridiculous tales ever. There's absolutely nothing strange about the collapse, so quite trying to mystify it. After all your prophet should have seen it coming.

Do you mean to tell me that if your friends child is run down by an over speeding drunk driver, you will advise your friend not to seek justice on the ground that the child is dead and will remain dead no matter the severity of the punishment given to the driver? Whenever there is a breach of the law in any given society, it is the duty of the people in that society to hold the law breaker accountable and extract the maximum punishment as prescribed by their law, lest people begin to see that there is more profit to them than retribution in breaking the law, thereby creating a free for all society where anything goes and anarchy rules just like you have in Nigeria today.

What you saw in the video is an example of a cascading collapse. It occurs when a member of an iterconnected system fails thereby transferring its load to adjacent members that are already over stressed, causing them to fail and they in turn causing others to fail until everything crumbles.

You may have an engineering degree but you don't appear to reason like one, otherwise you would know that it is quite possible for a concrete structure to fail like that without the application of external forces.
In a structure that is designed with the possibility of failure in mind, if a load bearing member of that structure should suffer a catastrophic failure, its load will be distributed to as many other structural members as possible in order to prevent any of the other load bearing members from being overloaded.
But in a poorly designed structure, if a load bearing member should suffer a catastrophic failure, its load will be transferred to the next load bearing member which would also cause it to fail from overloading, this in turn will cause the next one to fail until they all come crashing down.
This kind of failure often lead to a cascading collapse like the one in this video.

The Gaza demonstration was a bit tamed compared to the mayhem caused by the Muhammad cartoon. What I find surprising is the fact that most muslims would not see the need to be enraged that a group like Boko-Haram and IS are committing disgusting atrocities in the name of their god, their prophet and their religion, but will readily take to the street like feral dogs to protest the publishing of a cartoon of their prophet by one obscure newspaper in a distant land.

Here is the bible verse.

Verse one was the creation of the universe including the earth.
Verse two made us to know that the earth was desolate just like Mars or one of the moons of Jupiter and that it wasn't fit for life.
And verse three onwards was about the terraforming of the earth.
