Ask Edo people, then you'll get practical answers @ op.

I am from Edo, and I can confirm to you that all the stories you have been told about Edo people and their juju powers are just stories.

If juju was real and powerful, why did the oba of Benin suffer a humiliating defeat to a handful of white men with gun?

I don't know why leke is even paying this guy attention. Shebi he has an online church with his online followers they all should first eradicate poverty in one local govt of Nigeria before asking rccg to do same. Rccg is a blessed church whether anyone likes it or not.

Pastor Leke Adeboye does so because Freeze if left unchecked is bad for their business, and as a good son he thinks it is his duty to protect the family business.

I have no qualms with Muslims having their own protected space that is free from the criticism of unbelievers. But if their mods should decide to push any post from the protected enclave of Islam for Muslim section to the front page, then I think it is only fair that the general public is also allowed to freely comment without swearing an oath.

You guys are having it both ways which is just not fair to the rest of this community. And it also shows the level of greed and insecurity of those Muslims that insist on having their topics brought to the general public whilst denying the public the ability to respond should they desire to do so.

Religion / Re: Theist: Is Everything God's Will Or Is There Freewill? by dorox(m): 1:06pm On Jul 02, 2018
johnydon22:
The concept of predetermination, destiny (God's will) nullifies the whole idea of freewill but unsurprisingly they are both used interchangeably by people who believe mostly in both.

Predetermination suggests that everything has already been mapped out and set up by God. What you will do tomorrow has already been determined by God, what will happen? What you will eat, who you will meet.

But freewill entails that these factors that falls within the purview of choice are not determined yet, it is up to you to make these choices.

But can these two concepts be used together?

It is logically impossible cus it will only create a paradox.

If it is already determined that you will eat beans tomorrow (and you can't escape this determination) then there really wasn't any choice in the first place since you can't do otherwise.

But if the concept of freewill holds true then it annihilates the necessity of predetermination or in other words the idea of everything being God's will.

My question then is, which exactly is it?

Do we have freewill or is everything already predetermined?

Both can't hold true.

Free will it is for me.

Islam for Muslims / Re: How Does Non Muslims Feel About Muhammad Knowing Number Of Joints In The Body by dorox(m): 4:53pm On Jun 19, 2018
iceboy4752:

He is right. There are 360 joints in the human body. There are 86 skull joints, six throat joints, 66 thorax joints and 76 in your spine and pelvis. Also there are 32 in each upper limb and 31 in each lower limb. Two bones in our body meet to form a joint. Joints make our body flexible and to make movements. There are many different kinds of joints located in different parts of the body and responsible for different actions. These joints are Saddle joint, Pivot joint, Hinge joint, Fixed joint, Ellipsoidal joint, Ball and socket joint, Gliding joint, slightly movable joint and Spine joints.

Can you show us a credible secular scientific authority that is in agreement with your claim?

Religion / Interesting Quotes About Islam From Hitler. by dorox(m): 1:35pm On Jun 15, 2018
The peoples of Islam will always be closer to us than, for example, France "

"Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers [...] then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. "

"You see, it's been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn't we have the religion of the Japanese, who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?"

"A religion that believed in spreading the faith by the sword and in subjugating all nations to that faith. Such a creed was perfectly suited to the German temperament. "

Came as a shocker when I saw it and was a little careless not to have run a double check.

It's indeed the Byinton translation, not a "revised" NWT. Apologies.

I understand, we have all done worse. Have a good day.

The jw online bible website is host to six different translations including kjv, american standard version and Byington translation. what the op quoted is from the Byington translation. The new world translation still renders that passage as 'a god.'

I don't know if the op is genuinely mistaken or just being malicious.

Are Nigerians this gullible? It takes the naivete of a child to believe a story like this to be true.

Let's get the facts of the story straight.

He travelled abroad and he came back. Critical and necessary detail that can be verified and has been verified as true.

A security personnel told him of the assassination attempt. Critical and necessary detail that cannot be verified because no name was given.

Alleged assassins were rounded up. Critical and necessary detail but cannot be verified as again no name was given.

So in his story, there is a phantom security personnel and a phantom group of assassins one must first accept as real people in order to believe his lies.

What I noticed here is that those that are complaining did not pay tithe and if they will pay may be 0.1%. Those that pay 10 to 50% as tithe would never complain.

Who made Adeboye God's anointed? What makes you think that he is God's anointed?
Do not be fooled by his wealth and status, after all the wealth and status the Pharisees had in their day did not stop Jesus from calling them brood of vipers.

These pastors are no different from the Pharisees in the way they exploit and dominate the sheep.

1.i shifted no goalposts...

2.Missionaries did a lot of fundrasing...that was what they did when on leave. And a lot of money came from outside the church (donations, philantrophists bringing in cash).

(As an example, a certain American christian missionary established a series of printing presses across the world...including two here in Nigeria ..to print christian materials. He raised money from a variety of sources...including very wealthy philnatrophists. And no, he did not promise that they would be blessed with two fold blessing if they donated to his ministry, and he was not rich when he died)

3.The Church schools in Nigeria have high fees because they have to pay their teachers salaries. And they have to buy stuff for the school. And they have to keep on spending cash on upgrading the facilities, etc....AND they have to pay pastors, missionaries, church workers, and other workers in their varied church buisnesses...and they have to keep a reserve of cash for bad times.

That is where I think that rich christians, CAN etc should come in. Or maybe teachers too should take salary cuts...and pastor too should stop spending money on big jets and house.

(Note that our public schools are in a worse state because 1) we pay cheap fees, 2) we don't have enough money to spend on them)

PS: By the way, I don't support the rich lifestyles of many MOG's. My support for high fees is based on realisim....and yes, I don't like the idea...but either you charge high fees...or you clsoe schools with attendant job losses, take heavy loans...and people will suffer anyway.

But it is not as if the Oyedepos and Adeboyes of Nigerian church owners have been struggling to raise billions of naira for their palatial homes and private jets.

So the Church should get out of the school businesses.

Which is good, but then that leads to more unemployed people.

That is why church members and CAN should step up.

If the Church wants to charge commercial rate for any business that it is into, the church is free to do so provided the capital and the labour used in setting up the business was sourced commercially, and not from members goodwill.

I hope there are enough fire exits out of the building in the event of an emergency, because the ingress and exit turnstiles shown in the video appears grossly inadequate for the evacuation of thousands of people in an emergency situation.

Ideally, the children's section should be very close and accessible to the exits for obvious reasons. That is why I am very concerned that the children's safety might not have been prioritized by putting the children's church in the basement which is far from the exits and also requires going up the stairs.
